Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Tuesday, January 24, 2012

Mitt Romney has enhanced his image as a front-runner by staying above the fray during a run of Republican debates, but at Monday night's debate in Tampa, he sharply abandoned that approach to unleash a withering attack on the rival who threatens his claim to the nomination. Saying that Newt Gingrich "resign in disgrace" as House Speaker in the '90s, Romney called him an influence peddler in a withering criticism of his record in and out of office.

Ron Paul 2012!

So Santorum wins Iowa, but he's not a leader. Paul gets second in NH, but he's not a leader. Then comes Gingrich, who couldn't even get on the ballot in Virginia, and isn't eligible for about 500 of the 2200 delegates, who wins one state after coming in 4th in the other two, and is suddenly a "leader."

MEDIA BULL SHIT.

And let's not forget, he's got no ground game or organization going ahead into the caucus states, and Florida only gets half of their delegates counted. Spin, baby, spin!

Paul gets second in NH, but he's not a leader.

ronpaul1776 has gone on record as not running for President but getting delegates to try and get the real leaders buy some policies of his.

Looks to me like a good case for taking Iowa's spot away. A state whose primary is run so sloppily that (1) they call the wrong winner, and (2) are still unsure they have the correct one b/c they're missing results from too many precincts shouldn't be accorded the influence it has.

Interesting that Rmoney's tax returns come out AFTER this debate.

There's another debate on Thursday, God help us, and the primary isn't until Tues 31st.

NBC’s Brian Williams, Chuck Todd? No gotcha questions coming from these two idiots.

Romney needs to better clarify Bain--like this guy--

And Newt needs to have an answer for the ethics stuff while Speaker and the fine he received. He also needs to release the Freddie Mac Contract.

That's because Obama is doing the SOTU address.

But it'll be reviewed in time for the debate on Friday by CNN.

Having it ready for CNN to ask questions is more like bait and switch to CNN.

What's happened in the world that they're gonna come up with anything new to say? They need to go reality show and vote people out of the primary or go 4 man cage wrestlin'.

I keep telling myself that without so many debates, Perry, Cain and/or Bachmann might still be in the race.

Another positive thought: according to the schedule I have, we get almost a full month without a debate once we survive Thursday.

Michael Isikoff is reporting that Noot reported directly to the head of lobbying for Freddie Mac.

RCade:

I think they are both saying things without thinking now. I love how Mitt just comes out and says, "Oh... I'd have paid zero taxes then!"

Yeah that's gonna go well tomorrow...

You heard his reasoning --the problem that most complain about is that there is no price fixing with the drug companies.

Well guess what--the drugs are bought really cheap at places like Target and WalMart and CVS and Walgreens

You can buy most everything generic for $4.00

I don't see how people can like him at all. Sometimes I think people in this state would overwhelmingly vote on whoever hurts them the most, so they can whine about how bad things are.

That's because there's too many retired jews down there that wanna complain and guilt trip people :P (j/k omg don't hate me!)

The Cuba pandering portion of a Florida debate always makes me hungry for steak with lime and fried plantains.

Corky, we are worse off then 3 years ago, because of Obama care, restrictive legislation, rampant crony layoffs to unions and phony green energy boondoggles, and a President that works daily to divide the country by racial economic lines.

He's a nightmare and I can't wait for his boney butt to be booted from office in November 2012.

"Ron Paul won..
The other 3 clowns are a joke...wanting more wars..."

War is never a joke.

-Corky, we are worse off then 3 years ago, because blah blah sniff pout

And the results are in the economic data at the link I posted.

Trends are almost all up and the Big Lie ain't a gonna work this year, mah little buckroo.

Actually under the Obama Administration, deportations are at record levels.

Corky, you are too stupid to even spend one minute investigating Obama, your thought on the subject are worthless because they willfully ignorant.
The line, 'I am ignorant, so you are wrong', only works in a vacuum of stupid.

You'd think after all these years you'd be better at this, Stumpy.

I'm the one that outed Omama around here for a year in the Dem Priimary, remember. You can't tell me anything new on the subject.

Newt "isn't eligible for about 500 of the 2200 delegates, who wins one state after coming in 4th in the other two, and is suddenly a 'leader.'"

How is that?

#242 | Posted by kirk

Paultard Alert!

Newt is not on the VA ballot, but that is it so far.

The MO contest has a caucus and Newt can be on that.

He does need to get crackin' though.

I am referring to the lawsuits filed by the DoJ against the states who want to enforce the laws. Obama says not...

Yeah Mr. Hillary lover!

Then why are you on the other side with Obama--with all your vast knowledge of his past or lack thereof--?

ahhh yes, Murphy.....The federal government suing a state.

Definitely a change I don't believe in.

-Then why are you on the other side with Obama

cheerleaders can change their skirt in a flash.

Obama 2012!

I can see why people like Newtie. He's a despicable dude, but he can talk.

That's what I've been saying all along, bruce. He truly is an asshole, but he knows what to say and how to say it.

Yeah...I can see why you like him. He is a hypocrite ...just like you.

Yeah...I can see why you like him. He is a hypocrite ...just like you.

Once again dummerboy displays his desperation and ignorance with a cheap drive by but no supporting facts or links.

Well why don't you address what is actually happening: Under the Obama Administration, deportations are at an all-time high. Got spin for that one? (We've all been told that these illegals actually somehow vote Dem, which makes this stat even more perplexing.)

You cant link to yourself Goat WEASEL?

Of course I can. And I did. And I didn't see what you claimed. So you are a liar.

Thank you for not doing your own support work. It's easier this way. LOL

Now this is too weird. Corky openly admits he is a cheerleader in a skirt.

Really, corky? I mean, that's pretty unambiguous stuff from you there, corky.

LOL!!!

Newt appears to be the only debater on the stage - shrewd, forward and more controlled than the SC event. I know I've claimed he's not a "real" candidate in the past (a couple times, in fact) he has pulled the sheet out from under the crystalware with his fantastic speaking skills.

Although I despise him, he's looking like serious heat for Romney.

Obama... an idealogue so far to the left we are worse off than we were 3 years ago. -- #235 | Posted by MURPHY

Left-wing ideologues don't give assassination orders for U.S. citizens, don't sign extensions of the Patriot Act, don't agree to extend tax breaks for the rich, and don't pursue economic policies that put bankers first.

Edwards was screwing a staffer while running for President, no one talked about Kerry dumping his first wife, no one talked about Hillary and Webb Hubble, the media never asked about Larry Sinclair and the gay rumors. -- #236 | Posted by RexZeitgeist

Edwards was outed and his political career is over. Kerry wasn't preaching family values and ranting about Lewinsky (the issue is hypocrisy, not infidelity), and the media deservedly gave your Hillary-Webb and Sinclair stories the same treatment it gave rumors of Bush I's pedophilia.

We're worse off today than we were three years ago because of an economic crash that occurred while Bush was president.

Porky Pig and Magic underwearer Man.. same song and dance!
More Wars....we can just end food stamps...
Why more Wars...good......Food stamps...Bad...

We need to end "affordable health care act... It isn't right that insurance companies will have to pay out 80% of the money they take in..How would they ever have enough money left to give to the GOP???

They talk freedom ...who's
1.Stop gay people from getting married.
2. End a women righ to choose.

How about ending the religious control freak crap!

We're worse off than we could be because we have a President who kept the core of the Bush economic team and followed their advice to take care of bankers first.

But there's no partisan meat in that assessment. How is anybody supposed to be able to use that information?

The banks had to be saved or they would've taken the economy down with them. I don't fault Bush and Obama for that. I do fault Obama for not aggressively prosecuting the bankers whose massive fraud contributed to the crash and for putting Goldman Sachs people all over his administration.

Silly straw man. No one argues that doing nothing was the answer. But

(1) Even before the TARP vote, prominent economists like Stiglitz had explained that attacking the problem at its source -- e.g., by helping homeowners re-fi -- was a better alternative. It would have kept the banking system liquid, kept people in their homes, preserved neighborhoods, and prevented the housing market from crashing.

Instead, Obama ridiculed McCain for proposing that they suspend their campaigns to carefully consider alternatives to TARP.

(2) The problem was "too big to fail" banks, and Obama's answer was to write them blank checks and support legislation that hurts smaller banks. He has done nothing to reverse the bank consolidation trend that began under Bush.

:-) I love Cloony!

Obama 4 more years..

The GOP never did have a plan...anyway..

"Silly straw man. No one argues that doing nothing was the answer. But..."

That's only true if your restrict your definition of "no one" to mean relatively sane people like you. There were a lot of people here who were arguing to let the banks fail for their greed and let the homeowners fail for their inability cover their mortgages.

:-) I love Cloony!

For a children's poem it really is emotionally provocative. If you're into that kind of thing. One of my favorites.

Instead, Obama ridiculed McCain for proposing that they suspend their campaigns to carefully consider alternatives to TARP.

McCain's campaign suspension was a silly bit of grandstanding that Obama was right to mock. McCain was useless in the discussions in Washington about what to do during the crash.

"McCain was useless in the discussions in Washington about what to do during the crash."

Guess that makes all the libs here feel kind of dumb. Afterall, according to them Mccain would have done the exact same thing as Obama in regards to a stimulus. Does that make Obama stupider or McCain smarter? lol

Afterall, according to them Mccain would have done the exact same thing as Obama in regards to a stimulus.

Who knows what McCain would have done? The guy is a loose cannon.

It may have been a campaign ploy, but at least McCain was willing to stand up to the Bush Administration and demand deliberation on the bailout instead of simply rushing it through on Paulson's word. The fact that the Dems so brazenly ignored their constituents' wishes, and then brought Bush's economic team back into Obama's administration is just stunning.

Who knows what McCain would have done? The guy is a loose cannon.

Agree---and one of the reasons Obama won. I still to this day don't know what the heck John McCain stands for.
