Mitt Romney said on Fox News Sunday that he'd release his most recent tax returns and an estimate for his upcoming filings on Tuesday. "I was planning on releasing them in April when they have been released by other candidates in the past," Romney said. "But given all the attention that has been focused on tax returns, given the distraction that I think they became in these last couple weeks ... I will do that on Tuesday this week."

The more Romney continued to sing and dance around releasing his previous tax returns, the more focus he's directed toward their contents. Mitt should've just shut-up and quietly released his returns. Now we're all waiting with bated breath to see what it was he wanted to hide.

Now we're all waiting with bated breath to see what it was he wanted to hide.

1) An effective tax rate for some years that is far, far below 15%.

2) Investments in concerns he has previously labeled inimical to the interests of the United States.

Damned if he doesn't and damned if he does. Typical leftist mentality.

"Damn the facts, full speed aheeeeeeeead." Typical moron mentality.

"Now we're all waiting with bated breath to see what it was he wanted to hide."

Not "all" of us. Some of us don't care what he's hiding and the majority won't have ANY idea what they're seeing. After all, "mistakes" in a tax return means nada...look at Turbo Tax Tim and Rusty Rangel. Didn't hurt them any, did it? I do agree though, his own fault for the fuss.

I think the protestant wing of the Republican party is going to lose it over the amount Mitt gave to his church. I would imagine that this is why he wanted to wait to release his returns.

Not "all" of us.

Some us us can swallow ANYTHING.

The DR Right.

(As I was typing this, I just got a robo-call from 'Restore Our Future' reaming Noot's ass for helping Nanci Pelosi kill Chinese babies or some such. You really can't make this shit up. And I live in North Carolina!!! What the hell are they calling me for this early?)

Rmoney was really hoping to keep them hidden until after Super Tuesday.

The North Carolina primary isn't until May 8, for God's sake. Romney is a damned fool if he thinks the pinheads will not have found and discarded at least 3 more 'Not Romneys' by then. Wasting money bad mouthing the Noot is crazy.

"Romney Releasing 2010 Tax Returns"

Now if we can just get John Kerry to release his.

I'm sure all of you liberals who voted for him are still bitching about that.

Freddy,

Direct your bile at your fellow Rturds. The Democrats are just sitting back laughing their asses off at you idiots on this one.

I'm sure all of you liberals who voted for him are still bitching about that.

Come to think of it, I can't recall too much Democratic bitching about kerry's tax returns. On the other hand:

1) Willard's got his old man to live up to. Not in his eyes, of course.

2) Republicans raised a stink about Willard long before we got there.

I think the protestant wing of the Republican party is going to lose it over the amount Mitt gave to his church.

I don't know. I mean, most Protestant Reps are pretty aware by now that not only is Romney Mormon, but he actively follows the tenets of his faith, one of which is to donate 10%. Wouldn't most then also be aware that Romney donated AT LEAST this much?

Since the beginning of his campaign, Romney has worried about appearing as "one of the people". I think his effective tax rate (which Buffet correctly blames on Congress) is what he's worried about.

www.smh.com.au

The 2010 tax returns won't be enough, even coupled with the 2011 prognostication.

Obama's got, what, a decade's worth of his returns out there. Romney (if he survives) will eventually have to do the same (as with Noot, if he survives).

A word to the wise: Look at the beating M'lord's taken the last week or two of his failure to get this stuff out - he could've saved himself a lot of pummeling, so it was essentially self-inflicted through, at best, hubris.

Release the damned tax returns, absorb whatever damage cascades down, and move on.

I think you'll find the more sagacious veterans of Watergate, the Lewinsky mess, etc., probably agree.

And I want to see more of Porky's returns, too.

"Damned if he doesn't and damned if he does. Typical leftist mentality.

KBM so wishes that it was lefties asking Romney to release his returns, and not his fellow Republicans in the Klown Kar.

The best thing the Democrats can do right now is to just keep quiet (except for the really unavoidable belly laughs).

You may not see any of that from a single years return. He'd have to release several years worth.

The circular firing squad currently going on the the Traitorous Scum Clown Car is doing a fine job of thinning the herd. With any luck it will continue 4 more months.

Good advice, Axe: I think the most Axelrod, et. al. have done lately is provide just the hint of a nudge in the right direction for the Republicans during their feeding frenzy.

So he's successful at business and knows how to get the most out of government. Would you rather have someone who either failed failed repeatedly in business (or had no experience at it) and didn't understand how to do his taxes? We've already seen how that works.

Interesting that Rmoney won't release his records until after the debate tonight.

I guess one night of not getting beat up by your own Party members is a good thing....

13.9%. Now cry me a river about how overtaxed the wealthy are.

M'Lord needs to release more of his tax returns.

I'd be surprised if there's anything illegal in them, but they'll certainly add to the sentiment 726 just expressed: "Now cry me a river about how overtaxed the wealthy are."

Newt Gingrich wants Romney to pay 0 in taxes next year. Republicans hate working people and want us to pay all of the taxes. That's a fact.

and didn't understand how to do his taxes?

So you think Rmoney does his own taxes? LOL.

What a maroon.

But if you could put the crack pipe away for a minute and come back to reality: The top 10% pay around 70% of the federal income tax so you poor working people aren't paying your fair share. (asumes that you actually work).

dont worry Danni, the 22K a year you pull down at the docks will be left alone and in April you will still get back more than you paid in, as usual.

you will still get back more than you paid in,

I damned well better. I started paying in in 1990. I will not start taking out until 2040. That is 50 years of them holding and using my money. It is therefore an investment and all investments pay interest.

"dont worry Danni, the 22K a year you pull down at the docks will be left alone and in April you will still get back more than you paid in, as usual."

A single person making $22K a year gets back more than she pays in? How does that work, other than in your fantasies?

"13.9%. Now cry me a river about how overtaxed the wealthy are."

How much did he pay in taxes last year? More than you and every lib here combined in your lifetimes? LMAO...

Is it any wonder you clowns don't see you look like complete morons opening your yaps? How and why does whining like a bunch of dateless HS geeks in anyway make you clowns feel good?

Guy paid over 6 million in taxes last year, what more does he get for his 6 million than the person getting the $600 refund check?

"A single person making $22K a year gets back more than she pays in? How does that work, other than in your fantasies?"

Very simple, they get to use all of the facilities in this great land (roads, parks, safety etc) and somebody else pays for it.

It's sort of like joining a health club and using the facilities but not paying. SOmebody is paying for you.

I'm sure all of you liberals who voted for him are still bitching about that.

Just like they're bitching about Getiner paying nothing. Or GE paying zilch. Or bitching about all the corporate welfare given to GM, or Solyndra, or, oh fuck it. It's getting old.

In other news.................

Washington (CNN) - Former president Bill Clinton enjoyed his most lucrative year ever on the speaking circuit in 2010, capping a decade of paid speaking events that has earned him $75.6 million since leaving office in 2001, according to a CNN analysis of federal financial records

It'll be funny if it's a 1040 EZ form.

"Or bitching about all the corporate welfare given to GM"

LMAO the left loves GM. They sold about 7700 volts last year, predicted over 10,000, and are ready to produce 60,000 units in 2012? Yet another example of the WH leading the charge to a recovery by their barometer. Plan on making 60k even though we only sold less than 8k. Can't beat that brilliant business plan. If only he can make it a national policy....

Please don't be so stoopid as to confuse income tax on wages with taxes on dividends. You could raise the tax on wages to 99% with no loop holes and he would still pay 15%.

Raising taxes on everyone earning over $250k is a very dumb thing to suggest.

Good for Mitt as this shows he is an incredible business man and astute financial guy! This is the type of person we need in the White House to pull this country out of the ditch! Lefties prefer a bozo like Obama who is doing nothing but taking this country right down to tubes!

Direct your bile at your fellow Rturds. The Democrats are just sitting back laughing their asses off at you idiots on this one.

bullshit...and when faced with a legitimate remark or question like you were, you idiots keep up the same old bullshit answer..as in NO answer..

the man made 45 million dollars and had no job. AS IMUS said this morning..THATS The man we need to bring our economy back and I ADD
not some goddamn comnunity organizer who only knows how to take from the successfull either by law or coersion or BLACKMAIL or whatever and give it to people who will help them and thier ilk...

the tax percentage..dont like it..CHANGE IT....

I'm just curious... how many of you gave 14% of your income to charity? Also, for those that are so jealous... because that's what it is, jealousy... do you plan to take your decuctions this year when you file taxes? After your deductions, what was your percent did you pay in taxes? For the slow people... that's what was your final tax bill as a percentage of your "Gross" income?

By the way... when Obama released his tax returns back in '08 (and was later than Romney), did you notice that the most he gave was 6.5% to church and charity combined? That was his max... there were a couple of years where he gave less than 1.5%. Who's the giving and caring candidate????

If I'm Romney... I'm touting the fact that I obviously know how to create jobs through investments. I wouldn't be ashamed that I'm paying 14%... which by the way isn't "far below" 15% as previously quoted in this thread. I would also be proud that I risked everything to make more money while helping small businees and large businesses alike grow. Let's not forget that if it were not for people like Romney, you would NOT have companies like Microsoft today... period.

Also, let's not forget that when you get a paycheck, it's yours. No one can take that from you. It's your choice in how to spend, save, invest or gamble it. The money that Romney invests isn't guaranteed to give returns. He can very well lose it all, but the higher the risk, the greater the reward... and he understands and accepts that. It's incentive to invest in America and it should be less than the 15% it is today and certainly less than W2 or 1099 income.

I don't think I'd vote for you Mit... but I'd certainly be proud of what's in your tax returns.

Poor Zed, he was really hoping that Romney was gonna piss off the LDS by stiffing them.

He'll just have to pretend to be outraged about something else.

Typically, liberal rhetoric on taxes makes it seem as if the wealthy are getting a free ride on the backs of middle and lower-income Americans who are doing all the work and are really paying the taxes. But to put things on perspective, here’s what $3.2 million in federal taxes â€" Romney’s estimated 2011 burden â€" pays for:
The monthly food stamp allowance for about 23,909 people.
The cost of educating 302 elementary and high school students.
The base salary (before bonuses and allowances) of 178 privates in the U.S. Army.
The federal contribution to the benefits of 636 Medicaid enrollees.
In addition to his taxes, Romney has given around 16.4 percent of his income over the past two years to charity through his family charity, the Tyler Foundation. In addition to donations to the Mormon church, here’s where else Romney and his wife Ann donated money: the Boys and Girls Club of Boston, the Center for the Treatment of Pediatric MS, the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Homes for Our Troops, and the Inner-City Scholarship Fund, among others.
Another way of looking at it is that in 2011 the Romneys paid out 42 percent of their income in taxes and charity. Here’s how I got there: Total tax (line 60) + foreign taxes (line 47) + state taxes and real-estate taxes + other taxes (Schedule A, line 9) + charitable contributions (Schedule A, line 19) divided by Adjusted Gross Income (1040 line 37).

www.washingtonpost.com

Romney gave roughly $7 Million to church and Charity over those 2 years of returns... that's over 16.5% of his income over thost same two years.

Obama?

www.huffingtonpost.com

Gave 5.5% of his income to church and charity.

Romney's income came from investing... some would say gambling... his money by investing in businesses that would use the money to grow their business (which would lead to more jobs as a result). A tactic that could cost him all of his investment if it goes south. Thus earning himself a 15% tax bracket on that money... incentive for his investment and risk.

Obama earned most of his money through book sales (see article).

Umm... risking income by investing in America and being extremely generous... 14% in taxes + 16.5% in money that's used for helping others... you do the math in what his actually kept.

VS.

Book sales and 5.5% to help others... mainly the ones who probably spent their money on his book.

I don't know... that's a tough call. Seems like Obama should get the title of 1%'er

The sign clearly said not to fiddle with the knob. Even venturing from UV to soft xRay is not a good idea.

47 is wrong thread. Sorry
