Like if all he did was restrain a teenager who wouldn't go to school and wanted to run and then come home at 2am... or if its like hes saying now that it was a joke (she'd have had to been part of it)... hey you know what's funny? My roomate in college and I used to drive back up to school at the start of every semester and we always did that thing ( back when there were manned toll booths) where we would pull up the the toll and ask the toll booth attendent- Hey can you take a look at our dog on the roof? is his cage still attached securely?

That being said, most parents have (or should have!) the self control and mental awareness to understand that this behavior is unacceptable. Don't know if the dad deserves to have the daughter taken away forever (depends on other factors), but locking her in the cage/threatening to electrify it goes waaaaaaay beyond discipline, IMHO.

If she was a few years older, I think a cageing could be a cool scenario.
