Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

As a U.S. senator, Rick Santorum engineered a land deal that robbed the military's top veterans' home of tens of millions of dollars and worsened the conditions at the facility, Mother Jones reports. An amendment Santorum added to a 1999 defense bill forced the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington D.C. to sell its land to Catholic University next door for $22 million instead of leasing it -- a price $27 million less than the land's value and $83 million less than the profits from a lease plan. "I'm convinced Sen. Santorum is no friend of veterans," said Laurence Branch, the former executive director of the home's board.

The amendment forced the Home to sell -- and not lease -- the land to its next-door neighbor, the Catholic University of America.

I think he's just crazy Catholic enough to do that for the church for free.

But as a US senator, Santorum engineered a controversial land deal that robbed the military's top veterans' home of tens of millions of dollars and worsened the deteriorating conditions at the facility.
- Take a dump on military veterans.
- Secure the votes of millions of pro-military conservatives.

Very good, you got it in one read this time!

Republicans love to disenfranchise vets while also tricking them into supporting their agendas. Actually, they do it to everyone, but for some reason they really target the elderly and the vets. Undoubtedly stemming from their Fox News Rtard programming.

for free.

No amount of Churchin' it up to pander to the electorate will ever override the unquenchable thirst of the politico for money, moolah, graft, etc.

Priorities are:

Money
Party
God
Country

That order.

- Take a dump on military veterans.

And he did it inside a defense bill. That is double bonus points.

Very good, you got it in one read this time!

Just because I will criticize Obama and Democrats in one thread doesn't mean I won't critize Repubs in another.

(I know, the very concept is foreign to you)

I'm too pie-in-the-sky progressive for Lefties and too factually conservative for Righties? I'd like to think we're nearly all probably on the same take most of these threads. It's the haters that seem to emanate specifically from the Rtards. For the most part it's their "sport", but therein lay a kernel of the truth.

I wonder how the military would vote if they had access to information like C-SPAN - and watch as Republicans vote against the countries best interest while simultaneously outsourcing no-bid contracts to their investments. I don't believe they even write their own legislation - it appears to 100% produced from hard Right lobbyist employers. Is that how The Patriot Act I & II were invented? Because if nobody actually read the incredible sum of that material who actually wrote it? In short, Republicans are bought outright.

Shame on him...

Vets come first!

I think he's just crazy Catholic enough to do that for the church for free.

I think he traded for one of them there indulgences for killing his baby.

OK, so this makes Santorum not a friend to veterans.

Who is O'Bugger not a friend to by sucking 500 billion out of Medicare to fund Obama care.

If you fucked up libs are going to say that Santorum hates veterans because of this then it's high time you fessed up to being the ones that want to throw granny off the cliff. (you fucking psycho libtards make me sick). ;)

You're all being grossly unfair to Santorum. Remember, under his presidency, there would be no veterans to take care of, because they'd all be getting killed in WWIII or fighting some perpetual war from which they can never retire.

He doesn't take care of veterans only because he doesn't believe they should ever stop fighting.

It still begs the question of who did compose The Patriot Acts?

And now we're being arrested for protesting Wall Street facilitating the greatest inequity in the shortest period this or any nation has ever seen.

Frothy Santorum, Rmoney and Newt are all in this race for the money and power, not from patriotic idealism. Obama has a sliver of decency above and beyond that crowd.

Cute trick for a Catholic.

I am grateful that I got to see everything Italy had to offer for free, thanks to the Catholic Church.

what a shame. Imprison him indefinitely

He far prefers to fantasize about people being fat. It's a common theme with him as I'm sure you've noticed.

As usual reinheitsgebot skips over this one:

"Eric Holder Connected To Illegal Foreclosures of Active Duty Service Members"

"Reuters reported in December that under Holder and Breuer, the Justice Department hasn’t brought any criminal cases against big banks or other companies involved in mortgage servicing, even though copious evidence has surfaced of apparent criminal violations in foreclosure cases.

The evidence, including records from federal and state courts and local clerks’ offices around the country, shows widespread forgery, perjury, obstruction of justice, and illegal foreclosures on the homes of thousands of active-duty military personnel."

"Eric Holder, along with Lanny Breuer, worked for a law firm which defended a virtual Who’s Who of financial institutions which are under investigation for some less then scrupulous methods they employed in pursuing foreclosures against active duty military members."

That was my point. I'm glad you saw yourself and caught it.

This is for R-bot's file:

"Obama’s Iowa New Media Director Charged with Identity Theft â€" Faces 2 Years in Jail"

"Zach Edwards directed the Obama campaign’s New Media operations in five primary states. Yesterday he was charged with identity theft.

Barack Obama’s 2008 New Media Director was arrested on Friday and charged with identity theft. Zach Edwards currently works for a Democrat-affiliated organization with ties to Iowa Senator Tom Harkin."

#27 KBM...

So, some guy who worked for Obama's campaign went on to commit a crime...

Oh the horror!!!

And, how does this change what Frothy did, or change what Robot said about ACTUAL POLITICIANS???

"I'm convinced Sen. Santorum is no friend of veterans,"

No, he will walk all over them if he sees a chance to score points with the Church as we see here.

Meh, the other night at the debate where the openly gay soldier was booed and then not backed up by as any of the GOP candidates shows that not a single one of them is worthy to be CiC of those guys.

Not a one.

Frothy was never a real candidate by the way.

This is the way the dance goes. GOP trots out it requisite social conservatives ie. Bachmann Perry and Santorum and it's Libertarian-esque folk like Paul and Huntsman and then it's real candidates who are total meat puppets to the old school GOP machine.

It give the GOP the illusion of choice and placating the various tribes that make up the modern GOP.

Meanwhile their media machine sells the real candidate while besmirching the others.

It's an old game.

This year it's Romney's turn but Gingrich is being kept in the bullpen warming up in case Rmoney fails spectacularly by claiming he's fulfilling Mormon prophecy or that he found a secret plan to rebuild America in the bottom of a hat or sommat.

Be Well.

I know Rick Santorum and he is an opportunist and no friend of vets. He's a POS that uses vets and other so-called religious average Americans for his political gain.

Most pols use average people as pawns for their own gain. Forget the Parties and instead look at candidates. That's why I like Ron Paul. consistent and honest even though I only agree with 50%. Name one other pol that could print "Consistent and Honest" on his business card with credibility.
