Riiight. Republicans know as well as I do that SS is well funded until approximately 2035 without any changes to the current law. With minor tweaks to the current tax law we could make it solent indefinitely.
We need to work on Medicare but it is bull shit to pretend SS is in any trouble.

I will say Obama is a B on his best day debating.

And to remind folks--the debates--although very informative and sometimes entertaining--do not --generally change minds and hearts to vote for that winner of the debate. Folks were saying Kerry won the debates but did not translate to winning the election.

You know damn well the difference in context is huge. You insinuated to Murphy that Obama needed teleprompters to adress a class of sixth graders. That carries far more weight in your favor than Obama used teleprompters to address media in a 6th grade classroom.

Y'all are stuck with two candidates with a lot of baggage. Gingrich with the obvious ones - including his expulsion from Congress - and Romney with his extremely out of touch 1% mentality.

Couldn't bear to sit through the entire, tedious, predictable, sad-clown fest, but what I did see of last night's "debate" (and I came in as it started) makes me almost sympathize with those GOPers who after putting up with these train-wreck candidates for so long find themselves now yearning for a brokered convention.

Exactly! That's why Santorum's constant babble about how everyone should have their own "Health Savings Accounts" is an absolute joke. As if 95% of people could manage to save enough money to even begin to cover the cost of care for a heart attack and needed rehab and other major health issues and needed operations. What a fool.

If people had health savings accounts and high deductible policies most people would be far better off than the 5 dollar co pay run to the doctor everytime you fart sideways society we have today.

My sister was born in a hospital in 1955. A three day stay, less than 50 bucks.

Right. It is completely impossible for a middle class American with a family to pay the health care costs they will require over their lifetime, no matter how much they save.

I will not make that assumption anymore in regard to talk from the Republican candidates about wanting to attack Iran if elected in 2012.

In the twentieth century American leaders used to state the business of America is business. Now it seems they believe that the business of America is war.

There is no risk of the USA getting involved in Iran except for the Navy to keep the Straits open. Israel will be doing the dirty work and it will be all air and over in a few days. The USN, of course will remain
