England would lose the Falkland Islands if Argentina attacked right now because of the state of their Navy. The last paragraphs are shocking...

Blah blah blah.

- Bozo.

Big tough (aka fat redneck) Boaz builds a big ass strawman, don't he?

Liberals, as in Ron Paul?

(the most bizarre freak in the country)

Today must be National Rturd Psychobabble Headline Day.

Doesnt really matter Axe,

If Argentina decides to invade the Falklands, you talking about me will no longer matter, will it? But I guess you think them invading English territory is ok, right?

I'm all for sending Boaz/Rambo to the Falklandsso he can hoik his arse around the barren country looking for something to shoot. I think the 16-year term the Romans dished out to members of the Praetorian Guard should just about do the trick.

Get this straight, you redneck pants-pisser: The fucking REPUBLICANS gutted the economy so they could give tax cuts to your GODS. We are going into hock to pay for a military so the wannabe-Rambos can send poor kids like you to die for their profits.

Our military is the best in the world and there is little chance of that ever changing, even if they keep letting queefs like you in. Liberals are the best hope you have of keeping the blood flowing thru your veins and the GOP is the best hope you have of going into some meaningless battle without body armor or adequate equipment to do the job.

Or have you forgotten the last 11 years?

Boaz's entire rant seems to be off topic considering the actual content of the article.....

On topic, don't you think that if the UK got into spat with Argentina over the Falklands and actually felt there is a chance they could lose, they'd call the US and say "Remember when nobody wanted to go into Iraq and we did, well we need a favor....."

Sully,

If that happened, the people at the State Department and White House would be really earning their paychecks. I don't have any idea how they could handle that one.

I do know that the Republicans would be thanking God they didn't have to deal with it and would be overjoyed that anything the Administration did they could piss the pants about forever.

Obummer would bow to the Argentine President and send them some aid.

Boaz's entire rant seems to be off topic considering the actual content of the article.....

Story of Boaz's life.

BTW, Boaz your threads are becoming as easily spotted as douchemark's were. Congratulations, that takes skill.

If Argentina decides to invade the Falklands

Nobody would give a fuck. Including most of Britain.

Now fuck off, you incompetent cunt.

Those fulkin islands!!

Boaz's entire rant seems to be off topic considering the actual content of the article.....

Eh, the topic deflection is legit. I wanted to talk about how amazing it is that a world power like England doesnt have a fucking carrier. It's been gutted to that point.

Who gives a shit about the falkland islands? It is a stupid article worthless and the fact the likes of boaz posted it is no surprize at all.

How boaz gets this to being a liberal problem is delusion, wonder what kind of juice he drinks at night.

If the Brits hadn't spent so much fucking money holding onto the Falkland Islands all these years, they'd have more money for some of their other issues. Why the hell do the Brits need the Falkland Islands?

What a retarded argument.

What a retarded argument.

Well, it is a Bozo thread.

Of course his panties in a wad the sky is falling hysterical screaming proves one thing... that Britain cut back on it's military spending.

The military industrial complex is too firmly entrenched up the asses of both parties here for that to happen.

But let her have her hissy fit.

Because it is much better to gut social security and medicare than to have one less aircraft carrier.

proves one thing... that Britain cut back on it's military spending.

Bingo! And now one of it's territories is in danger. Now England cannot defend it's citizens against a adversary who probably will not be negotiated with. And you liberals are cool with that...

Now England cannot defend it's citizens against a adversary who probably will not be negotiated with. And you liberals are cool with that...

I'm not cool with it. But I don't see why it's my problem.
If England can't maintain possession of her territory, maybe she shouldn't be laying claim to it.
England might have lost the Falklands if we hadn't helped them in 1980. So we just keep helping them?
How many handouts should we give them, Boaz?

We are going into hock to pay for a military - Axe

Projected Defense spending for FY2012, if ALL "defense related expenditures" were factored in (not just the DOD budget), the cost:

DOD spending $707.5 billion
FBI counter-terrorism $2.7 billion At least one-third FBI budget.
International Affairs $5.6â€"$63.0 billion At minimum, foreign arms sales. At most, entire State budget
Energy Department, defense-related $21.8 billion
Veterans Affairs $70.0 billion
Homeland Security $46.9 billion
NASA, satellites $3.5â€"$8.7 billion 20% to 50% of NASA's total budget
Veterans pensions $54.6 billion
Other defense-related mandatory spending $8.2 billion
Interest on debt incurred in past wars $109.1â€"$431.5 billion Between 23% and 91% of total interest
Total Defense Related Spending $1.030â€"$1.415 trillion

en.wikipedia.org

Mandatory spending for 2012:
Social Security $761 billion
Medicare $485 billion
Medicaid and SCHIP $269 billion
Unemployment/Welfare/Other mandatory spending $612 billion
Interest on National Debt $242 billion
Troubled Asset Relief Program $13.0 billion
Total $2.382 trillion

NOTICE there is a gigantic discrepancy regarding the interest on the national debt. If the Federal government only plans on spending $242b on debt this year, it's obvious the defense share won't be $435b. If I take interest completely out, assuming a fair percentage share:

Defense Spending 2012: $.921T-$.984T
Mandatory spending 2012 (entitlements+TARP): $2.14T
National deficit 2012: $1.1T

So even if ALL defense related spending was cut, even pensions, the US would be running a deficit. Further, there are "millions" (multiple sources) of people whose jobs rely on the defense industry who would quite suddenly join the ranks of the unemployed..which would further raise the deficit, with more on the dole and less paying taxes.

The military charges as much as they do because they need funds to pay for those things we can't know they are doing. As a movie I forget the name of said: you don't think they really spend $10K on a hammer, do you?

You're probably right. But is that the economy we really want? One defined by the military industrial complex?

It's the same argument against having troops abroad in the manner we do. If we bring them all home, it would mean just that many less tanks, planes, rations, etc. needed to be produced by our economy - which means the loss of jobs.

I favor an economic switch away from the military industrial complex at all costs. Eisenhower warned us, but our parents didn't listen. They were too interested in making money off of the complex. Self interest of the few has trumped the interests of the many. Although, I digress, it won't matter. The glory days of American golden economy are gone. Global capitalization threw the U.S. under the bus. What the U.S. perfected other countries have undermined with even cheaper labor. There is no way to sway manufacturing back to the States. And the MIC is the only thing keeping this boat afloat. That's not a good thing.

Independence Day

I quoted Independence Day? I am offically ashamed of myself.

I guess the lyric is true: One in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

I agree Rsty. I would say that if we made the US more friendly to manufacturing, though, we could reduce the share the MIC occupies. Most of the really productive manufacturing areas weren't killed by overseas competition alone: they were destroyed from within first by regulation and legislation. Now you see the Kucinich and his cronies wanting to cap profits for redistribution. Another nail in the coffin...

To be fair, it was Judd Hirsch who said it....great actor.

"Most of the really productive manufacturing areas weren't killed by overseas competition alone: they were destroyed from within first by regulation and legislation."

Riiight, cheap wages had nothing to do with it. You are ridiculous in your need to pretend anything but the truth is responsible for the outsourcing of manufacturing.

BTW, considering manufacturing is the fastest growing segment of the American economy right now but also considering that the regulations are pretty much exactly the same as they have been, if anything stronger then how do you explain that???? Huh????

Get a clue, the talking point about regulations is designed to deflect from the real problem, Chinese people work real cheap.

Yep, they do. But I was in Maine and watched "shirt factories" go out of business over environmental concerns. I grew up in an Oregon that had a sustainable lumber industry that practically doesn't fucking EXIST now because of a dumbass owl who, by the way, is being massacred by another owl now. The lumber industry and everyone that relied on it or provided services to the its laborers is dead now...thanks China! OH, wait...not cheap labor problem there. Is China threatening to kill our coal industry? Is China forcing us to buy different light bulbs? IS CHINA TRYING TO KILL THE KEYSTONE PIPELINE?

You accuse me of talking points while you read the cue cards handed you by Wasserman-Shultz. Shut the hell up. I've seen it with my own eyes.

Boaz:

You may have a point about Britain's preparedness, but I think it's way too much of a stretch to say this has anything much to do with any liberal agenda.

It hasn't been that long since you were worried that the end of DADT was going to result in gloryholes in every barracks latrine, and pink Speedos becoming regulation swim wear. Nothing has changed except a few people are a bit safter from unjust treatment, which was the liberal intent all along.

Liberals are not out to destroy any military, anywhere. We would like the military sensibly run and to be as humane as possible given that its job is to fight wars, but after eight years of Bush/Cheney/Halliburton rape of our Treasury and the atrocities of Abu Ghraib, can you blame us?

"safter" = safer.

My bad.

Further, there are "millions" (multiple sources) of people whose jobs rely on the defense industry who would quite suddenly join the ranks of the unemployed..which would further raise the deficit, with more on the dole and less paying taxes.

Bullshit!

We're constantly told by the right that the government doesn't create jobs. So your argument is impossible.

Sarcasm aside, if the right wants cuts in government, those cuts are going to have to come from restructuring a lot of programs, including a large chunk of the military. And if you don't want the cuts to be so deep, balancing the budget is also going to require restructuring the tax code and raising some taxes.

We're constantly told by the right that the government doesn't create jobs. So your argument is impossible.

So you are on record as taking what the right says as gospel? OK. Or did you file for a one time cherry pick exemption?

It's a Vogon thing

Dumb Boaz. England lost America when they had a strong military.

Hey Boaz. How's Afghanistan going? The most powerful military in the world can't be a nation of poppy farmers and goat herders.

I'm dying to know what rw columnist revived Alinsky. (Not Salinsky, Afk. Alinsky--if you're gonna go all nutty about this, at least use the right name!) It's one of the most consistently used "attacks" on this site.

"I'm dying to know what rw columnist revived Alinsky."

Yeah, who gave rtard sheep the order to start mentioning Alinsky at every excuse? Or no excuse at all?

Same with "Hussein".

Prag: "I'm dying to know what rw columnist revived Alinsky."

Nulli: Yeah, who gave rtard sheep the order to start mentioning Alinsky at every excuse? Or no excuse at all?

Same with "Hussein".

See also: "Messiah".

Apparently the RW strategy here is to take a meme that's pants-on-head retarded to begin with, beat it to death with a rubber chicken and then just keep flailing at it until their arms fall off.

If they didn't vote it would all be highly amusing.

Be Well.

Holy fuck! The Falkland Islands?!?!?!

Oh wait, who cares?

at least others can come up with something more creative to show they are radical left..come on dude...
