Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Monday, January 16, 2012

The nation pauses Monday to remember the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. on the federal holiday that has also become a national day of service. "What he did was hold a banner of freedom and equality that actually transformed this nation," said the Rev. Al Sharpton. President Barack Obama will mark the holiday with a service project at the Browne Education Campus in Washington.

What about james Early Ray? We shouldnt forget that great man. In fact, they could have used him at the Chuck E Cheese in Dearborn over the weekend...

Paid holiday, I LOVE IT

OK...so pulling a C. Thomas Howell ALA Soul Man doesn't help me get the day off today. So racist!

One of the giants of American history - his is the name associated with the day, but the Civil Rights Revolution and all who participated in it deserve the nation's recognition and gratitude.

Job well done, mission still needing to be accomplished.

federal holiday that has also become a national day of service

I'm sure that the good Dr. never would approve of THAT. He may have been a womanizer but he wasn't a ward of the government.

One of the giants of American history

And sadly the last. His means are now considered weak and pointless. Better to smear the other side and attack whenever you can. We need a return to his methods.

Who do you know during your lifetime that was a greater American or accomplished more than MLK?

Certainly not that old curmudgeon Reagan!

Paid holiday!!! What the fuck am I doing at work?

Harland David Sanders.

Who do you know during your lifetime that was a greater American or accomplished more than MLK?
#7 | Posted by Monstman

That would be a long list, but let's start with:
Lindsey England
Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson
Staff Sgt Frank Wuterich
The BART Cops that shot Oscar Grant

Truly, one of the greatest men this country has ever produced. Happy Birthday MLK.

You are missed.

What exactly did he accomplish?

What exactly did he accomplish?

#12 | Posted by glasshouse

He was an accomplished adulterer.

Paul Krugman writes today that MLK's work on overcoming racism is meaningless, so long as there's still rich people and income inequality in America. Basically, civil rights are meaningless if it isn't part and parcel of socialism as a whole.

He was just another angry black man.

Ah, for the good old days when rwingers could just go out and shoot the likes of MLK and the Kennedys when the libruls got uppity.

Now they have to depend on rwing activist SC decisions to get enough money for Super PACs to quash any protests against their crony corporatist masters.

It just ain't the same.

That's not what he says, of course, but don't let that hold you back from making a fool of yourself.

The concern is social justice, an idea that terrorizes of the I-got-mine-fuck-you crowd.

He was just another angry black man.

Just like Michelle Obama.

MLK's failure is due directly to Affirmative Action. Where MLK spoke of "judging a person based on their character and not the color of their skin," AA only looks at the color of one's skin and unfairly skews things against the content of one's character.

MLK was struck down before his time. He would have accomplished quite a lot, had he not been murdered, IMHO.

Most truly, I wish MLKs message were still the message believed by most folks purporting to believe what he believed (but don't).

Just one example. Would MLK ever have suggested that blacks are incapable of obtaining IDs? Fuck no, he would have made efforts to get them IDs instead. And been pissed as hell about voter fraud.

Instead, MLKs message has been hijacked by race-baiting politicians that have turned most things MLK stood for, completely upside down.

The BART Cops that shot Oscar Grant

Get them together with the NYPD blokes that got Amadou (what the cops tell me to do) Diallo and we might create the circumstances whereby we could take the whole fucking week off.

Paul Krugman writes today that MLK's work on overcoming racism is meaningless, so long as there's still rich people and income inequality in America.

Another dumb liberal impossible cause. Income inequality and the rich have been around since the beginning of human history.

I am sure MLK is turning over in his grave at what the likes of rev's jackson and sharpton have done.

-impossible cause

Social justice in this country has been improved somewhat at least by the likes of MLK, despite the likes of defeatist pussys like you who give up on any number of causes faster than Willard can fire people.

#17 | Posted by Doc_Sarvis

Libs have a variant of that. "I want what's yours. Fuck you."

impossible cause

Those are the ones most worthy of dedication!

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go
To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far

To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause

And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star

MLK's failure is due directly to Affirmative Action. Where MLK spoke of "judging a person based on their character and not the color of their skin," AA only looks at the color of one's skin and unfairly skews things against the content of one's character.

Whether or not Affirmative Action is something we should still be doing is debatable, whether or not Affirmative Action was something we needed to do to try and correct hundreds of years of discrimination is not.

How much did his family of leeches get from the Gov. to let them use his name for a holiday?

whether or not Affirmative Action was something we needed to do to try and correct hundreds of years of discrimination is not.

We never should have tried it. Whether I don't hire someone because they are Black or I do hire them because they are Black, it is racist either way as I am doing acting based on the color of their skin and not the content of their character.

-Douglass

All that needs to be said about affirmative action.

Ray is peacefully protesting people who use peaceful protests to influence social justice issues.

If only they would give up on the cause in typical Ray fashion before they protest it, everything would be OK with him.

MLK Day! What a great holiday. The one day a year all hard working taxpayers can get to work in a reasonable time. Because all the government tit (tax) sucking union asshole workers are at home playing with themselves. And getting paid for it. I would be on board to pay them to stay home the whole year. Since the majority don't do shit anyway. And the few that do are looking for more ways to screw the taxpayers. BTW. FUCK YOU Paul Krugman good Jew boy gone bad!

Tell me Corky. What about NDAA don't you undertand?

" If you see him on his way to school, let him alone, don't disturb him! If you see him going to the dinner table at a hotel, let him go! If you see him going to the ballot- box, let him alone, don't disturb him! If you see him going into a work-shop, just let him alone,--your interference is doing him a positive injury." Too bad in many places in America a black person couldn't do those things and if they tried they risked violent attack.Black students wanted to attend the University of Alabama and it took the National Guard to force the Governor to stand aside and let them.

The part about how it has shit to do with, "Social justice in this country has been improved somewhat at least by the likes of MLK, despite the likes of defeatist pussys like you who give up on any number of causes faster than Willard can fire people."

Just go back to telling us how nothing matters (to you).

#43 | Posted by Corky

Since you're too dumb to see it. I'll spell it out for you. NDAA nullfies ALL civil rights. Even the pretense of social justice has been abolished.

MLK left us too soon.

Work day for me--although many others have the day off.

Affirmative Action was to make amends--and it would have worked better if not for the welfare program that essentially tore up the black family.

Good intentions have disasterous consequences.

Since you're too dumb to see it. I'll spell it out for you.

Deflecting from your, "Another dumb liberal impossible cause. Income inequality and the rich have been around since the beginning of human history." by talking about the NDAA when told that, "Social justice in this country has been improved somewhat at least by the likes of MLK, despite the likes of defeatist pussys like you who give up on any number of causes faster than Willard can fire people." is still just deflection from your constant whining about how The Sky Is Falling and there is nothing anyone, anywhere, at any time can do about it.

You take boring to a completely new altitude.

You deflected from my posts about NDAA twice. There is no hope for you.

still just deflection from your constant whining about how The Sky Is Falling and there is nothing anyone, anywhere, at any time can do about it.

Since I want to see a government about one tenth the current size, all I have to do is go on enjoying life on the sidelines and wait for the inevitable to happen.

You deflected from my post about, "justice in this country has been improved somewhat at least by the likes of MLK", twice with NDAA.

You should be better at this by now, Raystradumbass.

Even though it does not fit into your Every Day is Dooms Day nonsense.

Affirmative action requires that any minority hired be capable of doing the job as well as any white person.

People are not hired on the content of their character--unless you are applying for a preachers job, or Boy Scout leader. In the past, a qualified black man would be overlooked for an unqualified white man.

Affimative action gave the country what it promised to all people. An equal shot at success.

That a bigot like Kanrei still clings to the notion that hiring only whites is a good thing shows that we haven't come that far since MLK gave his life for the promise of America---a promise people like Kanrei would deny to minorities.

Not at all, bigot. I was never discriminated against because of race. The fires were started by Americans looking for freedom and equality. Something you would deny if you could. You fight for the rich. They fought for American freedom and equality. I can understand your opposition.

This seems like an appropriate thread to discuss this...

Black people like Chuck E Cheese. They're such an interesting people. How do they get their clothes to look so clean and new? I wear a white shirt for 5 seconds and it gets dirty, but some hood rat sports the whitest whites and the brightest brights? I smell a conspiracy.

Anyway, the grandmother that got assaulted is a mystery to me. At 50 y/o, she seems too old to be a grandmother (if she's black). They're usually grandmama's in their early 30's.

This thread has it all.

What do you wanna bet by the end of next year we will have a separate holiday celebrating Obama's peace prize.

Kanrei came into the school and working world well after the worst instances of discrimination were no longer so obvious. Before Civil Rights and AA, black people couldn't get a decent job in the South to save their life. If you didn't witness it you really would have a hard time believing things were really taht bad such a short time ago but they really were. AA was absolutlely necessary to try to help black people "catch up" somewhat with white people. They still haven't completely because of so many economic, educational, and other deficits which still exist within the black community.

Kanrei came into the school and working world well after the worst instances of discrimination were no longer so obvious.

Untrue. I was bused. Growing up Jewish, you have no idea how much discrimination I was subject to, so try talking about things you know. Nazi death threats were in my locker every day for 2 months when I was in 7th grade for example.

Also, growing up in Miami, I clearly saw things like the Liberty City race riots of the early 80's, so saying I have no idea what I am speaking of only insults you as a reader, not me.

I had a close friend when I was about 4. Over Christmas one year, he came over and saw our "candle holder" and no tree. After commenting about it to his mother, he was never allowed to speak to me again. Fast forward to 7th grade, we were in the same school for the first time since and he took it upon himself to let me know Jews were not welcome in that school and the Nazis should have done a better job.

"Also, growing up in Miami, I clearly saw things like the Liberty City race riots of the early 80's, so saying I have no idea what I am speaking of only insults you as a reader, not me."

Nonsense. In the 80's I worked for a company in Miami that had a black man in a professional position, he was their first. That would never have happened in the 50's, 60' or probably even the 70's. Do you remember why the blacks rioted in Miami?

"Fast forward to 7th grade, we were in the same school for the first time since and he took it upon himself to let me know Jews were not welcome in that school and the Nazis should have done a better job."

Anti-semitism was strong in S. Florida only a couple decades ago, it definitely still exists today but employers did not discriminate against Jewish folks nearly as much as black folks probably because Jews were generally well educated and could do things the employers needed them to do. They might not let them join their country club though.

Nonsense.

Stopped reading right there. Fuck You Danni. It isn't nonsense as it did happen.

Probably something to do with some other fool wearing the wrong color hat, an officer arresting a theiving black person, or some rap artist made the mistake of gathering more than 4 blacks together and the typical nig-noggery ensued.

Rodney King before home cameras. 5 Metro-Dade cops killed a Black man and Liberty City blew up.

"Probably something to do with some other fool wearing the wrong color hat, an officer arresting a theiving black person, or some rap artist made the mistake of gathering more than 4 blacks together and the typical nig-noggery ensued."

Nope. It was because cops beat a black insurance agent to death for no reason and then were acquitted of the crime. His name was ARthur McDuffie and he was no thug. BTW, I lived 10 blocks from ground zero of that riot. WE were all afraid to go outside. You could see the tire company burning from my Dad's house.

5 Metro-Dade cops killed a Black man and Liberty City blew up.

Only after they were acquitted of the crime and everyone knew they did do it. White people were outraged too.

Grand Theft Auto; Liberty City

Days after the verdict, the U.S. Justice Department said it would seek indictments of the policemen for federal civil rights violations. On July 28, 1980, a federal grand jury indicted Charles Veverka, despite his having received immunity from the original charges filed by the state during the first trial.

The federal trial was held in San Antonio, Texas, after Atlanta and New Orleans asked that it be moved from their venues due to its controversial racial aspects. Journalists referred to the case as "The Trial That Nobody Wants."[citation needed] On December 17, Veverka was acquitted in the week-long trial after the jury deliberated for more than 16 hours. Minor incidents of violence were reported in Miami after the verdict was announced.

They were tried again after the riot and aquitted again. No riot that time. This was an excuse, not the cause. This was a race riot in Miami in 1980.

-It was because cops beat a black insurance agent to death for no reason

you mean other than being an insurance agent?

sorry...couldn't resist that one.

you mean other than being an insurance agent?

Danni is leaving many details out. It is inexcusable that the cops beat him to death, but to say it was because he was Black and he did nothing wrong is wrong.

In the early morning hours of December 17, 1979, police officers pursued 33-year-old McDuffie, who was riding his 1973 black-and-orange Kawasaki motorcycle. McDuffie had accumulated traffic citations and was driving with a suspended license. He was a working man, father and military veteran. He led police on an 8-minute high speed chase through residential streets at speeds of 80+ MPH.

The officers involved in the chase (Ira Diggs, William Hanlon, Michael Watts), and Alex Marrero later filed a report claiming McDuffie had run a red light and led police on an eight-minute chase. They said that, after McDuffie lost control of his vehicle while making a left turn, he attempted to flee on foot but was subdued by the officers. McDuffie was accused of kicking Diggs during the scuffle. By the end of the struggle, the officers had cracked his skull "like an egg", in the words of the prosecutor at the trial.

McDuffie was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died four days later of his wounds. The coroner's report concluded that he had suffered multiple skull fractures after being struck by a blunt object.

"Danni is leaving many details out."

But you're supplying them changes nothing. Those thugs beat him to death. The city's black population, who were also mistreated by Miami police ALL THE TIME, did react. Personally, I only wondered at the time, why they decided to burn down their own neighborhood instead of the cop's neighborhood. They ended up punishing thier own community.

I only wondered at the time, why they decided to burn down their own neighborhood instead of the cop's neighborhood. They ended up punishing thier own community.

#75 | Posted by danni

Why just "at the time"? If you haven't noticed, "they" do it all the time. I know the reason, but people think it's racist...They're just not forward thinkers, and they're unaware that actions have consequences because Dems and Government will always excuse them and try to clean up their messes.

But you're supplying them changes nothing

Changes everything. Your story is five Miami cops pulled over a Black driver who was doing nothing other than driving while Black and beat him to death.

The truth is he had numerous traffic citations, a suspended license, was evading police, and was speeding up wards of 80 MPH through residential neighborhoods.

Not a death sentence crime and the cops were wrong, but to say he did nothing is wrong.

Personally, I only wondered at the time, why they decided to burn down their own neighborhood instead of the cop's neighborhood.

okay, that comment is RIPE for some interesting retorts.

maybe it was because they were operating on completely 100% drug/alcohol induced emotion and thought it was a quick free pass to destroy things?

Or, maybe it's because everybody wants to burn the ghetto down, including those who live there.

Remember Danni, this is what I brought up Liberty City over:

Kanrei came into the school and working world well after the worst instances of discrimination were no longer so obvious.

Clearly, based on the 1980 riot, given I was born in 1971 that your statement is 100% wrong about me and my experiences.

they were operating on completely 100% drug/alcohol induced emotion

They were. Know how Graham ended it? No gun or alcohol sales. It stopped after 3 days.

By the third day, the violence declined as the city imposed an 8 pm to 6 am curfew, coupled with a temporary ban on the sale of firearms and liquor. Graham sent in an additional 2,500 National Guardsmen to the 1,000 already in the city.

It's as if you're retarded. I literally gave the reasons. "Not forward thinkers", "unaware actions have consequences"...

Just like when I kicked sand in your face last week for failing to read and comprehend my post about cutting off aid to israel, I'm left shaking my head, thinking "Is this guy as stupid, obtuse, and ignorant as Zed?"

"Not forward thinkers", "unaware actions have consequences"...
#83 | POSTED BY 101CHAIRBORNE

No, you have some other reason: "I know the reason, but people think it's racist..."

'Not forward thinkers' is hardly racist. Nor is 'unaware actions have consequences.' Plus your original statement implied a single reason, not multiple. So, what is that "racist" reason you're holding back?

Just remember you're the one who implied it was racist, sooooooo....let's have it.

'Not forward thinkers' is hardly racist. Nor is 'unaware actions have consequences.'

Exactly. The guy is basically Zed. Even throw away comments need to be explained to that retard.
I forgot I put him on my "don't waste time on that clown for anything other than ridicule" list. Something tells me he's too stupid to know he's being mocked, so I'll eventually put him on the "don't read, don't respond" list with dummerboy.

Honestly, can you imagine how stupid rstybitch is in real life, if he can't grasp that basically calling all blacks dummies, and inept, is racist?

"Alex Marrero later filed a report claiming McDuffie had run a red light and led police on an eight-minute chase."

Yeah, later he filed a false report in all probability.

All blacks are "not forward thinkers" no where as close to #86 or this gem: "the typical nig-noggery ensued."

BTW, I don't need to converse with you to point out your blatant and shameless racism. Getting a response out of you is never the point (debating with ignorance is a futile endeavor). Keep throwing out racist bullshit and I will keep calling a spade a spade. You seem to enjoy it. So why bother stopping now?

Look, after having his nose rubbed in his diaper, and me pointing out yet another instance of that creep's inability to read and comprehend, he comes along and pretends he had a secret motivation in being stupid, and that in the end, I fell right in to his trap...

Seriously, you can't make this shit up.

-Yeah, later he filed a false report in all probability.

what else was he lying about then? Was his license not suspended or was it NOT at "early hours of the morning"?

or was it not an 8 minute chase?

because if the rest of it is true....then why would running the red light be made up?

-There you go. I just wanted you to show the blatant racism that you truly hold.

you dumb fuck. Regardless of what you think about 101, the last thing you can say is that he is evasive in his views and that you somehow managed to trick him into revealing anything. And even the dumbest lefties here would agree with me.

I'll concede the fact that I was unaware 101 is such a well-known racist here on the DR. I'm actually glad to see so many (as you have asserted) are already aware of 101's incredible ignorance, which then begs the question why anyone gives him credibility?

credibility for what?

WTF does that mean?

anybody can post here rsty and there is actually very very very few folks with "credibility" on anything.

there are some folks here with some professional "creds".

but that's it. nobody here has any "creds" on race relations.

but let me add to my #100

there are some who think their creds give them the ability to pontificate on anything. Hell, even some think they have cred for simply being old.

but they don't have any.

Alright! Another year of pretending anyone gives a shit about Martin Luther King.

They didn't name this fucking Holiday after me and close the banks.

The 16th is payday here. Now I must look my family in the eye tonight at the supper table and explain that Daddy made Campbell's Tomato Soup because he's so fucking wasted by the time he stumbles home that it's the best he can do.

I can also blame my fucking soup kitchen on another colored guy, a cheesehead for whom I have a man(?) crush, that destroyed the economy....SpongeBob.

Riiiiight....it was his 'coloredness' that justified the holiday - not the man's message or actions.

rustybitch's wife pays homage to MLK everyday by cheating on him.

ZING! HAHAHAHA! My god you are pathetic and feeble minded. It's like being insulted by a down syndrome porn star.

Filling in for Pinky Lee, Wussy?

I have a dream that one day young black government workers and young white government workers will be able to sit home on their asses under the guise of progress and do nothing while taking even more of the tax payers dollars for their mediocre work???

MLK was awesome. I love his Dream.

I had a dream too. But, it involved forks, Zombies and the CIA.

MLK was a good egg--had a great message and changed many hearts and minds.

What is so sad is we are coming to this election and the surrogates of Obama are yelling racism if anyone disagrees with Obama.

Some on the left are using the race card at every turn and it's going to get worse in the months to come.

They used it again today on MLK day to charge the repubs are racist and not honoring MLK day--having the debate on MLK day...It's crazy!

They don't seem to remember in 2008 with the Dem debate put on the Dem Black Caucus was held on MLK day.

It would be truer to state that too many self-inflicted deficits exist within the black community.

Mostly all the result of ignoring MLKs message. Don't believe me? Compare the words of MLK to say, Michelle Obama's words and writings.

If you can't see how MLKs message has been forsaken by the very folks who purport to hold him high, then there is certainly nothing I can write that will change your mind. Your washed.

AA or not, if you can't read you ain't working in today's economy.

I can't imagine what would so twist one's mind that they must think of the extra chromosomal performing sex acts. It's disturbing to say the least. Perhaps the posts leading up to this moment were full of hilarity and despair.

As AA evolved over time, it benefited well financed middle class and upper class blacks the most. Very rarely did the money filter down to help the poor black. Often, it was a transfer of money to blacks that weren't destitute. It became something that it originally wasn't intended to be.
