I think you mean the previous statement, or the above statement... not below...

You know you're fucked when Harry Belefonte throws you under the bus...

Isn't Belefonte a socialist or at the very least very liberal? If yes then those remarks make the President look more like a centrist (which he is). Also, wasn't that quote taken in the context of Belefonte's dissapointment with Obama not forcing through a liberal agenda when he had a Democrat controlled Congress? If yes, then again the President is made to appear as a centrist rather than a liberal.

Good afternoon Bay! It's a Winnie the Pooh WINDY Wednesday for sure!!

Taxman, who does Harry think would replace Obama? Does he think Mitt would be more of a socialist than Obama?

Baysides Schedule for today;

11:45am - crawl out of bed at the crack of noon to see if the welfare check has arrived.

12:00pm - smoke three bowls

12:30pm - eat three bowls of captain crunch (with chocolate syrup on top)

12:45pm - 7pm - make irrational non-sensical statements about the first family on the DR. Complain about entitlements while i am cashing my gov't check.

7PM - fix manwich and skittles for the family.

8pm - make love with/get beat by husband

9pm - smoke three more bowls to forget the shame.

Rinse, repeat.

Wis, I am not so sure he wants Obama replaced - it seems he was just voicing his dissapointment in the fact that the President isn't the liberal he was hoping for.

Obama a centrist?

Rammed through almost a $trillion in stimulus spending.

Appropriated GM.

2700 pages of health care nightmares.

Controlling portions of the economy via beaurocratic agencies (EPA).

Flouting the Constitution by circumventing the Senate's advice and consent powers with cabinet appointments.

Ramped up social spending.

Strong push to increase taxes on the so-called wealthy.

He is far to the left on just about everything. Our system of checks and balances have been the only impediment he's had from making this country a European-style socialist democracy and he's now deciding that those checks and balances no longer apply to him.

"2700 pages of health care nightmares."

More from Chocolate Calypso...

I'm very cautious of the fact that those who think he has some second agenda and only if he could be given a second term for us to see the new light, new things will be revealed, new efforts will be made to take us to a place other than where we've been and where we languish. I just don't trust that.

Fifty years ago Obama would have been considered a right-wing republican.

The country has moved so far to the extreme right, that even a moderate or a progressive looks like a liberal, especially to people that have no perspective and people that have no intellect.

What the hell are you yammering about?

Are you trying to say you saw the original movie and didn't like it. And now, you certainly don't want to see the sequel?

I consider myself a somewhat educated scotch drinker and my normal go-to is Balvenie.

Laphroaig is an acquired taste that I go to on certain occasions.

Yes, Obama is a centrist. I posted this article a year before Obama was elected. True then, true now.

As far as political positioning goes, his strategy seems to be to appear as a sort of ideological Universalist, one who spends a great deal of rhetorical energy showing that he recognizes the validity of all points of view, and conversely emphasizes that when he does take hard positions on issues, he often does so reluctantly. He is a black man from Chicago who gets away with praising Ronald Reagan, which is not an easy task. His political ideal is basically a rehash of the Blair-Clinton "third way" deal, an amalgam of Kennedy, Reagan, Clinton and the New Deal; he is aiming for the middle of the middle of the middle.

Two americans and an Irishman planned to have a big night drinking.

So, they got to the bar and the irishman said, 'Give me a bottle of your best Irish single-malt whisky'. The first american ordered a budweiser and the second ordered Jack Daniels.

Then the irishman said, 'change my order to a coca-cola'. The americans said, 'I thought we were going to drink'? The irishman said, 'Me too, but if you guys are not gonna drink, neither am I'.

Irish whisky is for philistines.

I got a bottle of The Balvenie 21 year portwood for my birthday (I'll open it on my birthday next year).

I recently opened a Laphroaig Triple wood and it is quite good.

#32 | Posted by nullifidian

In order for Obama to be a centrist he'd actually have to govern from the middle. That would mean that he advocates and applies policies that are centrist - I listed a littany of policies that are pretty far left. Or since he is to the left on some things he'd be on the right on others causing a centrist balance. I can't think of any issue where he comes down on the right.

"Monte, what is your favorite scotch that would be readily available at a typical liquor store?
#28 | Posted by LIVE_OR_DIE"

Assuming Glenmorangie very rare 18 (which, despite its name, is not all that rare) is not available, Oban or Balvenie Double Wood 12 or Single Barrel 15. (Portwood too, but that's too expensive in my opinion.)

In Oregon, I can get the Glenmorangie for $100. I used to be able to get Oban for $39, but it got popular I guess because it is now $79, so I don't buy it anymore. (Not necessarily because it is not worth it, but because I knew I paid only $39 just a coouple of years ago.)

I have a bottle of Glenmorangie D'Or in my office drawer right now, and I liked it the first and so far only time I had it. It's very smooth, which I appreciate though not everyone does.

Let me help you:

.military policy and funding;
.kowtowing to the rich and wall street;
.compromising on just about everything;
.the so-called "Grand Bargain";
.Gitmo;
.torture;
.middle class tax cuts (lack thereof);
.health care reform (no single payer);

.

LoD,

The best scotch values IMO are:

Highland Park 12
Balvenie 12 Doublewood
Auchentoshan 3 wood
Old Pulteney 12
Ardbeg 10 (use caution with this one - it is intense)
Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength (same warning as Ardbeg)
Glenfarclas 12
Macallan 12

These are all readily available and all deliver in the price/quality quotient.

Monte forgot to mention Chicken and Ribs. Conservatives like them too.

On time Wisgod and his wife were stranded on a desert island. This island had one tree on it and they used it to look for passing ships.

One day I was ship-wrecked and I came floating up to the island. They welcomed me and we soon split up 'ship watching duties' into 8 hour shifts.

The next morning, it was my turn, so i shimmied up the tree to look for ships. Every 5 minutes, I would look down at wisgod and his wife and scream out, 'HEY, STOP THAT FUCKING DOWN THERE'.

Of course they just looked at each other and wondered what i was talking about. So, soon, it was wisgod's turn to keep watch. So he shimmied up the tree.

In the meanwhile, I had thrown his wife down on the beach and was giving her the business. Soon, Wisgod looked down, scratched his head, and said, 'Hmmpf, it DOES look like they are fucking from up here'.

Obama a centrist?

Rammed through almost a $trillion in stimulus spending. See "Recession". Tell me about Bush's TARP. Bush was a commie for bailing out the banks? Romney doesn't think so.

Appropriated GM. Saved GM and MI. Now selling it off as a profitable private sector company. Nothing Reagan wouldn't have done. Or Dubya. See railroads and airlines.

2700 pages of health care nightmares. Can't be responsible for your mental issues Jeff, but Merkel and Cameron and Harper, all Conservtives, sleep well in spite of far more socialist health care programs. Nettiyahoo, too, mainly because YOU'RE paying for it, Jeff.

Controlling portions of the economy via beaurocratic agencies (EPA). Created by leftist Nixon 40 years ago, in case you missed it.

Flouting the Constitution by circumventing the Senate's advice and consent powers with cabinet appointments. Recess appointmnets are in the Constitution. Ask Dubya or John Bolton.

Ramped up social spending. don't know if you noticed it, but we had this recession.

Strong push to increase taxes on the so-called wealthy. Very popular with proletariat, especially since Mitt says he'd love to fire everybody. I'm sure you'd be happy if he rolled them back to Reagan's rates.

JeffJ, this post was really disappointing from you. Afkabagger, yes, you, not so much. Especially since your wife works at a state funded institution, you commie!

.military policy and funding;

To some extent, OK.

.kowtowing to the rich and wall street;

Cronly capitalism is neither a left or right thing - it is just corruption.

.compromising on just about everything;

Gee, he no longer has both houses. The Constitution limits his ability to do whatever he wants when the other party controls the house. He certainly didn't comprimise with the GOP on anything when his party had both houses.

.Gitmo;

He wanted to close it and discovered that it was far more difficult to do so in reality.

.torture;

To the best of my knowledge he has put a stop to all enhanced interrogations.

.middle class tax cuts (lack thereof);

How is not cutting taxes a righty thing?

.health care reform (no single payer);

Again, that pesky Constitution. His party had to pull out all of the stops to get what they got. If he had the power, we'd have a single-pay.

Obama a centrist?

Yuppo.

A moderate.

A centrist.

A compromiser.

In fact, Obama's the best moderate conservative America has had for a POTUS since Clinton.

Too the GOP had to drag the Overton window so far to the right since then they've became a proto-fascist party.

Jeff doesn't get that when Clinton took the center back in the nineties the GOP moved right and have just kept going.

More people need to figure this stuff out.

Be Well.

Interesting whisky/whiskey discussion.

Moving on to bourbon...I've tried Woodford Reserve and find it nice and smooth. Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage is decent. (Their other stuff is pretty swillish.) Weller Special Reserve isn't bad, either. I'm curious about bourbon you sip and savor, not the stuff you dump in a bucket with Coke Zero or Dr. Pepper.

Suggestions?

If you're a Republican, he's the best president you can hope for. In fact, they'd do well to nominate him!

Flouting the Constitution by circumventing the Senate's advice and consent powers with cabinet appointments. Recess appointmnets are in the Constitution. Ask Dubya or John Bolton.

The Senate wasn't in recess. In order to be in recess for more than 3 days the Senate has to get approval from the House. They didn't ask for approval nor was it granted. This is WAY different than the Bolton recess appointment.

You are missing my point, Oliver. We can debate all day long as to the wisdom of what Obama has done or hasn't done. That is irrelevant to the discussion. My point was that just about everything he does tacks left which makes him anything but a centrist.

More people need to figure this stuff out.

Fair point - he even went further with the whole TSA nonsense.

Ending DADT.

Extension of Bush tax cuts.

I guess. Although he is signaling that we are about to get out.

Lee Atwater's baseball Hall Of Fame

Whether you know it or not just yet, you are a devotee of the greatest of men. No, I’m not talking Wally Moon. I’m not talking about Dick Allen. I’m not even talking about Vin Scully. I am talking, dear friends, of Ron Swanson.

Swanson, the heavily-mustachioed dynamo whose presence elevates NBC’s Parks and Recreation from sublime to divine comedy, is equally skilled in woodworking, meat preparation, hoarding gold, saxamaphone, avoiding his job, and dispensing warm and sincere advice. His Pyramid of Greatness is not a mere suggestion. It is an essential way of life, if we are ever to save ourselves from ourselves.

And so it was with great enthusiasm this afternoon that I waded into a Twitter discussion spurred by Wendy Thurm about whether Ron Swanson would elect Jack Morris to the Hall of Fame on the basis of his mustache. My position, that Swanson would not respect Morris’ mustache given that it looked like an unkempt squirrel who came to rest and slowly aged on Black Jack’s upper lip, was not expressed. But my firm belief, that if Ron Swanson told us to we should immediately elect Jack Morris, was.

Indeed, it’s my belief that, not only should Ron Swanson’s position on Jack Morris carry the day, but his position on all baseball players should be considered sacrosanct. And it is in this spirit that I ask you to help me choose Ron Swanson’s Baseball Hall of Fame. The following is a list of nominees. Feel free to add your own in the comments. We shall show New Hampshire how democracy is done tomorrow when we vote on the candidates.

For Toughness
Cal Ripken
Lou Gehrig
Iron Man Joe McGinnity
Nolan Ryan (hat tip to Sean McNally)
Old Hoss Radbourn (no second hat tip to Sean McNally, as that would be awkward)

For Blatant Disdain For Unnecessary Rules and Regulations
Gaylord Perry
Jim Bunning
The 1890s Baltimore Orioles

For Love of Meat and Scotch
David Wells (knowing glance to Marc Normandin)
Billy Martin

For Nickname
Duke Snider

For Unquenchable Iconoclasm
R.A. Dickey
Dick Allen (Hostile Stare at the newly re-christened opportunist, SaberBoy)

For General Distrust of Authority
Luke Scott

For Killing a Man In Cold Blood
Carl Mays

Ladies and Gentlemen, the floor is now open for additional nominations, and seconds.

Seriously, dude? Since about a month or two ago.

Go back and read the comments of Republicans when Obama and the Dems were trying to extend the payroll tax holiday. From memory, the party line was something like, "We're not sure that is the best way to stimulate the economy."

It sucked when you became such a partisan hack. You used to be one of the few sensible moderate voices around here.

Ryan Braun

I think Jim Beam Black is also decent too, especially considering the price. Personally, I think price matters a lot more with scotch than whiskey. (In other words, there is a much bigger difference between cheap scotch and good scotch than there is with whiskey.)

A couple of favorites from Mad Magazine long ago:

Old Factory Whistle, one blast and you're through for the day.

Old Croak Kentucky straight embalming fluid.

For cheap bourbon, I really like Old Grand Dad.

Old Factory Whistle...LOL!

Maker's is a great call and I've never thought it was 'syrupy' sweet, to each his own I guess.

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel is probably my favorite.

To put coke in either would be considered alcohol abuse, IMO.

(In other words, there is a much bigger difference between cheap scotch and good scotch than there is with whiskey.)
#69 | Posted by mOntecOre

Do you think the big difference between cheap-not cheap also applies to bourbon?

I'm sort of working my through the bourbon thing, but I used to drink Scotch and would agree with Monte on that. Also Irish whisky (much prefer Bushmills to most others).

And, no, I'm not doing a flight at the moment.

After all, I have to drive the plane from Taipei to Las Vegas for Vermin tonight, and that'll require 90-minutes of clear focus.

I've heard that before. I don't remember ever trying it. If I did, I either drank too much or its was in Coke.

"Do you think the big difference between cheap-not cheap also applies to bourbon?"

That's what I was saying - not as much. I have no problem drinking Jack or even Jim straight up, but that's the lowest end I ever go. (I can't lower end isn't good, I just haven't tried them. A "handle bottle" (what I've called 1.75L since high school) of Jack is only about $30.

"The criticism was that temporary tax holidays don't work - Bush tried it and didn't produce results.

Oh please. Giving a few hundred extra dollars to people who will actually spend it and put it into the economy produces a lot more results than giving another $100,000 to someone who already has millions in tax-sheltered accounts. You're drinking the Kool-Aid, dude.

I remember enjoying a few bottles of Bushmills Single Malt (I think....?) several years ago. A green bottle, came in one of those cardboard tubes.

when i was a teenager, i saw the funniest thing ever while drinking everclear.

this one guy took a gurgling swig of straight everclear. It took about 5 seconds and it was lights out for him. Well, he fell backwards onto a little sapling, which bent over but held him up, passed out cold.

His buddy went over to help him and the passed out guy rolled off the sapling and it slapped the other guy right in the forehead.

We all felt real bad about his friend, so we helped him bury the guy under a pile of sticks and stones. That was 35 years ago and i still laugh about it every time i think of it.

I like Knob Creek too. For some reason, Zat thinks it's swill. (Maybe not sweet enough for his tastes?)

I was at a party where there was an Everclear punch, and also a $25 reward if you could beer bong this 96 oz. funnel of beer. This doofus tried to do the beer bong ($25 seemed like a lot of money back then), but some other asshole had pissed in it. Pretty much everyone knew about the piss except the contestant. I don't know what was funniest - seeing the guy try (and fail) to beer bong 96 ozs. of beer-piss mixture, or see him knock out the guy who pissed in it with one punch. (No one saw that coming. Everyone assumed the contestant was a wuss, and the pisser a tough guy.)

Good times. Makin' memories.

The thing about beer bongs is they have to be given a name.

"Pilsner Urquel is good stuff."

The only true Pilsner I believe.
It's brewed in Pilsen.

Been a few decades but I recall an ale ... Pelforth I believe it was, that I rather liked.

Stiegl is my favorite pilsner.

"Stiegl"

Never tried it.
Exploring beerland is fun!

Basil Haydens is good bourbon. Rebel Yell is harsh but you can be like Keith Richard who drank it by the case.

In the early 90s Spaten used to export to the USA a bottled beer called Spaten Special Dark. Nothing like the one or two varieties of Spaten i find in the northeast nowadays. Spaten Special Dark wasn't even really dark at all. It was just really really good Pilsner. You didn't drink it and wince from an unholy onslaught of flavor. It was like a highly improved version of a north american style regular old beer.

What you drink out of is important.

And speaking of just plain good Pilsner beer without being overcharged and pretentious - if you go to Puerto Rico go to the Old Harbor Brewery in Old San Juan you have to have Santo Viejo. My favorite bar and beer in the world. You can only get their beer there. They choose not to invest in becoming a big enough outfit to export. I got to know the (German) Brewmeister through my visits there. Santo Viejo as absolutley the best beer in the world. I promise.

Keep a potion in your glove box. Should solve that problem.

Skyrim?

I am very intrigued by it.

However, I have never played Oblivion which currently costs $20.

I am contemplating playing Oblivion first. Hopefully, by the time I get around to Skyrim it'll have come down significantly in price.

Not to mention between my new games, my wife's and my son's games, I have plenty to keep me occupied right now.

Jeff,

Skyrim is my first Elder Scrolls game. I bought it because I loved Bethesda's Fallout games and was jonesing for a new one. It is quite amazing, but with a wife and kid you can't do it justice. I gave up any semblance of a life this weekend, gave it 48 hours almost non-stop and barely got anywhere into the story.

Jeff, Oblivion is good.

Skyrim has more variety imo, but if you like those kinds of games, Oblivion won't disappoint.

Skyrim is dangerous. The sheer depth to the side missions alone is a life stealer. The fact that it is either first or third person makes it worse. I spend literally 90 minutes last night trying to climb a mountain and didn't notice the time spent until I got to the top.

So is "Diannah" another one of Goatsy's long lost children?

#4 | Posted by northguy3

No, northgay. I'm Dianna.

Or am I?

BTW, I love it when people pull me into a thread I've not yet participated in and prove their obsession with me. I own you, or you wouldn't do that, northgay. There's another person who like you, has me under his skin so badly that he does the same thing. So don't feel alone. There are actually two of you pwned by an ignorant off shore ET.

LOL

Losers -- both of you

You are a panty wearing liberal if you think Obama is a centrist. Keep your comments to talking about Canada, because you obviously know nothing about U.S. politics..

Eh?

Kanrei/LoD,

A friend of mine is 70 hours into Skyrim and has completed 20% of the game.

I don't know if I'll like it or not. When I read the review for Oblivion it sounded almost Utopian based on my tastes.

I am not much of a gamer, but here is what I have played (and am currently playing) that I really enjoyed:

Champions of Norath (PS2)
Baldour's Gate (PS2)
Sacred 2 Fallen Angel (fun but has some serious flaws)
Twilight Princess
Dragon Age origins
GTA4 and Bully (fun for comic relief, but I rarely have a desire to play them)

Currently playing:

Skyward Sword
Okami
Bastion
Castle Crashers
Portal 2

My son has paper Mario, Arkham City and Assylum but I haven't tried either of them yet.

Also played but couldn't get myself into: Mass Effect, Bayonetta, Monster Hunter Tri and Resident Evil 4.

Spud still hasn't recovered from being run over by rioting fans after Vancouver lost the cup to Boston last year.

Right, that's why I get attacked for criticizing him from the left whenever I post on the subject. I think it's you with the panty-wearing over-reaction.

If you liked Dragon Age you would probably like the Elder Scrolls games (Oblivion and Skyrim). The cool thing about each of them is you only spend as much time on the game as you want. You can just truck through the main quest and be done in a reasonable amount of time, or do every single side quest and get lost in it for as long as you want.

Also, playing through Arkham Asylum; game is sick!

Thanks for the info, LoD.

My wife and I combined for 135 hours on Sacred 2.

Since I don't have a wide swath of game types that I like, I tend toward taking my time and getting the most out of a game.

I've come to realize that I don't enjoy Beat'em up games (although I did enjoy No More Heroes). I don't like first person shooters. Puzzle games are hit and miss. Racing games look boring and sandbox games only hold my interest for short bursts of time (about an hour).

Maybe. Interestingly, though, at least in my neck of the woods, Knob Creek now costs about $15-$20 more than Maker's, when they used to be within a few bucks of each other.

Did the rash come back, or is it crabs again?

Neither Monty. A HUGE sale that will net me a nice commission and an E.R. visit because my son passed out in P.T. But thanks for asking!!

You're welcome. We had a member sometime back who had a frail son. He may have had just a touch of the retard too. If you want me to try to put the two of you in touch so you can compare notes, let me know.

As always, just trying to help,

mOntecOre

In all seriousness, sorry to hear about your son. Unless he's an adult, then he is fair game.

(And at your age, I would expect that he is an adult, though I have heard of you grandma types throwing a litter now and then.)

Sweet, Monty but no need. And I AM feeling the love, you are the bestest!!!

He's 15. And don't think everthing you read here posted by an unemployeed drunk as fact's, kay?

All this talk of bourbon inspired me to look for something I never tried before.
Tasty.

I just read an article that said it would be very hard to have sex in space. Not because there's no women there, but because of the lack of gravity.

Apparently, and I am not making this up, American and Russian scientists studied this problem....because that's what they do....and they decided the best thing to do is get a known Sex Master and have her study the problem.

She concluded that the best thing to do is have a set of jumpsuits that would be attached together by straps and velcro and all kinds of groovy gadgets. Then you should be able to go at it.

They still haven't answered the question of whether conception is possible.

"humility?"

Fuck that, click the link.
As for sex in space, sex in SCUBA is certainly doable, although the kissing doesn't last long.

Monte,

Why do you capitalize the "O" in your handle?

Lip was his sugar level, we hope is all. He is fasting tonight and blood work in the am. He does MMA and Kenpo + Marine ROTC. It was out of the blue. BP when we got him to our DR was 160/97. No parent EVER wants that phone call.

I think we should defer to Jackie's expertise in this matter.

Looking at this as a pure physics problem, I see all kinds of newtonian problems with trying to hump in space.

if you were one of those 'two humps and a bear-down' kind of guys, you may be okay. but if you really wanted to do some slamming, you would shoot her across the space capsule. Then she'd bang her head. then you'd have to float over there. slam, bang, 'awwww', float, slam, bang, 'awwwww', float....etc.

You're welcome. We had a member sometime back who had a frail son. He may have had just a touch of the retard too. If you want me to try to put the two of you in touch so you can compare notes, let me know.

As it typical, law school students join the Law Review in their 2nd year, and some schools allow 3rd year students to try out.
Many law schools have a writing competition at the end of first-year exams during which students are given a packet of material and are asked to write a sample note or comment. An editing exercise is often required, as well.

#151 With Monte there is no funnin...........Must give credit for trying to fit into the human race, kay??

And of course there was an unearthing at some point of a summary written in 1990 by student Obama which is just plain brilliant!!! According to Politico:
"The six-page summary, tucked into the third volume of the year's Harvard Law Review, considers the charged, if peripheral, question of whether fetuses should be able to file lawsuits against their mothers. Obama's answer, like most courts': No. He wrote approvingly of an Illinois Supreme Court ruling that the unborn cannot sue their mothers for negligence, and he suggested that allowing fetuses to sue would violate the mother's rights and could, perversely, cause her to take more risks with her pregnancy. The subject matter took Obama to the treacherous political landscape of reproductive rights, and - unlike many student authors - he dived eagerly into the policy implications of the court decision. His article acknowledged a public interest in the health of the fetus, but also seemed to demonstrate his continuing commitment to abortion rights, and suggested that the government may have more important concerns than "ensuring that any particular fetus is born."

Patriotwoman #152 Facts, to the looney libs on the Nooner are a terrible thing.

Doc, I've got an idea for you. Tell me what you think.

The worlds first ever completely blog-written novel.

Develop an outline and let bloggers write an essay on each outline topic and pick the best one, or parts of each.

I can't figure out how to control tone and timbre and speed, etc....

LOVE IT LIPZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #156

My, my, my. This is all we have of this man's BRILLIANCE on display and it is a MIND BLOWING BIT OF SHEAR GENIUS. Even a D student in High School could have jotted a little weak summary like this. If I have the time this weekend, I will bake a cake and using some Oprah and Moochelle approved icing, write the entire contribution on the top. This is the very thing that the lesser of men would strive to achieve academically. The very school that my father and grandfather received their PhD at does not already a Obama Hall is just mind blowing, IMHO. If anyone has a fetus that would like to attempt to fight this brilliance before the Supreme Court please call your local ambulance chaser attorney, as seen on TV!

#154 | Posted by patriotwoman23

I'm impressed. you were pressed and you at least took the initiative to look up the answer.

Now, drop the horse shit. Everybody knows you hate obama and moochelle. Harping on it is just boring. you're too smart to be boring all the time.

I think it could be a hoot, Lip. It could be posted as it develops, by whoever writes what. Does that make sense? We'd need a title to get it going and for posting purposes, as in "Who Put the Bop in the Bop-Shee-Bop? - Chapter 13."

I'm going be be off in a few minutes, but I'll think about it, you think about, and let's see what we can come up with, okay?

LOVE IT LIPZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #156

#157 | Posted by gracieamazed

I am actually serious. But I don't have a good story. I'm thinking about a comedy book.

That way the structure doesn't have to be rigid, and the story line can slip off into abstractions.

I just read an article that said it would be very hard to have sex in space. Not because there's no women there, but because of the lack of gravity.
#138 | Posted by Lipzoidial
There are men is space in need of women in space? LOL!

As for sex in space, may I suggest a boy in the bubble concept. Just a big bouncy that the couple do it in and float around space in. We could set them off like carnival balloons from the moon's surface. Give them a case of booze, some KY (in case of potential space induced dryness), and a Swedish Erotica collection.

"I am actually serious."

Me, too.

#161 | Posted by Lipzoidial
I think it would work if focused on the funny non-political stuff. Question. Would you have to get each of those that you use in the book to sign a legal document releasing their comments for your use, or is this considered a public forum? You would need to look into the legal mosh pit stuff first, and foremost, just to cover your butt. Call it something like "In A Blog World, It's a Dysfunctional Family Life". Now if you use that title I want $5k for the use of it. LOL!

okay?

#160 | Posted by Doc_Sarvis

I sent Rcade an email one maybe two years ago and asked him what he thought about it. He never answered.

I really didn't care what he thought, I actually wanted to ask if he minded if I did it through his site. If it made any money, I would willing to split everything equally among the DR and everyone who's work got used.

It could be published online and have an automatic catchy gimmick to drive people to the link - the first ever blog written novel.

But I wouldn't do it unless it was gonna be top notch material.

all the books and movies nowadays have one or two word titles, so it would either have to be a one word title or a really long title.

Why non-political?

I don't care about the money, donate it, I'm in!!

It's a blog, blog, blog, blog, blog, blog world.

Starring lipzoid as Jimmy Durante.

"I don't care about the money, donate it, I'm in!!"

Ditto.

There are talented writers around here, for sure. And God knows there's sufficient imagination - people make shit up here all the time!

Monte can write the love notes, 101 the tender poetry.

I'm out of here for now - son and daughter-in-law splitting up, so the tension level's been a bit on the high side of late - but I'll try and catch up later.

Great idea, Lip!

people make shit up here all the time!

no shit. I can't tell what size it is but it looks big.

Can you eat wild pigs? You know, carry them to the processor, etc....

It was December, three years ago IIRC, I was yakking on the ham radio, saw the pig in the front pasture, grabbed the Weatherby, stepped outside, popped her, came back in and didn't miss my next turn to talk. Sow weighed 550 pounds. She'd rip your guts out if she had the chance.

#167 | Posted by Lipzoidial
Because it is timely. You want a book that transcends. I am reading a political book that is from 6 years ago and it is boring. The funny stuff lasts the ages. And there about a billion political books. That is just my opinion, and the majority may disagree. My Mom was a writer and I am just going with what I saw when she was alive. Political stuff used in 1956 most didn't get in the 70's and beyond. Does that make sense?

"Can you eat wild pigs?"

They're pretty nasty. Folks who want to eat them capture them live and feed them corn for a while before killing them. To me they're just dangerous varmints.

I have to give a shout out to my husband, who is man enough to head out to the store for our teen's lady pads. Not many men would venture out into the world of wings, no wings, thick, thin, floppy, pastel, or tripod.

We had a wild hog that swam across the bay to live in our suburban neighborhood here. She weighed over 500 pounds, lived in the little park across from the elementary school, and people threw food out for her. The authorities made several attempts to get her, to no avail. She disappeared one day, but three of what we assume were her piglets showed up the next summer running around the neighborhood. Animal control caught one, and one of their employees took it home and ate it. This caused a major scandal in this town, the likes of which we were not prepared for. LOL! You can't make this shit up.

Here is a true story from Tennessee:
They actually hung an elephant in Erwin, TN for the murder of a citizen.

yep. I'm all ears because I know my writing is best when used in moderation. I break eggs with a sledge hammer, or so i've been told.

what i enjoy writing, or would want to write is not the kind of stuff I write on here, especially the political stuff. I want to write abstract stuff, full of symbolism and confusion and disconnected ends.

The book I actually had in mind was something liek Steve Martin's Cruel Shoes. It's free to read on-line and it's crazy. It was his first book.

Steve Martin - Cruel Shoes

"hog that swam"

My ex's dad had a ranch on the Brazos near Hempstead TX.
He's 20 years dead but the ranch is still there.
I used to hunt pigs on foot back before arthritis and sciatica.
Sometimes we'd see 20+ individuals swim across the river, that was when I bought my M1-A (civilian M-14). I couldn't see hunting massed dangerous game on foot with a bolt action when 21 rounds in a semi-auto with more magazines on my belt is more like it. Some of them weighed ~1,000 pounds. I recall two individuals filling a pickup truck bed.

#182 | Posted by Zatoichi
Yes, real men. Over the last 10 years, I like to venture to a small store for those things because heading to Target or Wal Mart and picking that stuff out is like a mine field. In the 70's when I first needed them, my grandmother made me wear a belt and hook up what can only be described as a small baby bath towel sized thing. I walked around that summer like I had a corn cob up my butt. LOL! Now it is like ordering at McDonalds............ regular, double cheese burger, or Big Mac, with lettuce, without cheese, and don't forget the PICKLES!

#185 | Posted by Lipzoidial
Martin is a legend. Love all of his work, especially "The Jerk"! That kind of writing is what I love. I also love to write about stuff that you just can't make up. Life and people are just to flipping funny. Life is like a big comedy that goes on and on. When someone can capture that essence, they have a hit.

It's Panama City. Judging by the Butterball Bunch, a really trashy place.

Agreed.

Ck this: www.youtube.com

Kind of Lipz idea, but with music.

"Occupy Wall Street Rapes: How Many More Victims?"

"While the media and Democratic establishment continue to laud the #Occupy movement, they ignore the reality of what is going on on the ground - Occupy Wall Street is an extremely small, fractured and ineffective social experiment that is unable to even provide safety for the young, female protesters that it tries to attract"

"certain groups did not properly address it or handle it. When we had the park, we had an 18-year-old who got raped. She was drug raped. That individual who raped the 18-year-old raped five other girls in this park. My group dealt with rape victims in the park and still does."

"The victim voiced her concern to let them know she didn't feel safe in that place because of this gentleman. Rather than calling me or other women’s working groups, Housing took it upon themselves to have a jury of about 15 and more people between the victim and the gentleman. And they asked for both them to basically give details out.

"The Occupy movement is openly disdainful of law enforcement, choosing to cherry pick the elements of the legal system they want to use (such as a restraining order process) while eschewing the parts that they don’t like. the problem is that there collectivist decision-making process doesn’t work..."

"Meanwhile, the #Occupy movement actively covers up the crimes committed there to avoid the resulting bad PR. Given the slavish nature of the media coverage they have received, however, the anarchistic occupiers needn’t try too hard."

I feel sorrow for these victims and even more so for how they have been misled.

Ineptocracy (in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Yep, democracy.

But that's what the courts are for.

I wasn't the one complaining about democracy.

That was you.

There are places in this world where they don't worry about messy things like democracy, which you seem to dislike when the results don't please you.

Fortunately, America is not one of those places.

Apparently, that translates to:
