Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

In his last days in office, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (R) has pardoned four men convicted of murder: David Gatlin, Joseph Ozment, Charles Hooker and Anthony McCray. "Is Gov. Barbour going to pardon us from our aches and pains and heartache that we have to suffer?" asked Betty Ellis, whose daughter was killed by Gatlin. "Is he going to pardon a child that had to grow up without a mother? Is he going to pardon me from never being able to feel her arms around my neck again?"

Barbour Pardons 4 Murderers

what do you expect from a guy named after a comet and an anthropomorphic elephant?

This is an odd story but it does tell me one thing, Barbour is not ever going to run for President.
I'm pretty liberal but I think I too would be outraged if the murderer of a member of my family were pardoned.

it does tell me one thing, Barbour is not ever going to run for President.

Or Veep.

In 1993, WLBT reported, Gatlin walked into the trailer where his estranged wife, Tammy Ellis Gatlin, lived and shot her in the head. The woman's friend, Randy Walker, survived a gunshot to the head.

She was 20 years old when she died and had her child laying in her arms when he shot her in the head.

Tea Party Family Values

based on the proclivity of Republicans, they probably sucked his dick

"All four were serving life sentences and worked as trusties at the governor's mansion, she said.

"It is at any governor's discretion," said Singletary."

"They all are either Good Old Boys or House Negroes, so they can't be all bad.", Barbour was quoted as saying.

Estranged wife? OK, that one makes sense then. But did the other three victims deserve it too?

Barbour's political career is over.

What do they "have" on him?

Five of the eight killers' victims were either their wives, former wives or girlfriends, according to Clarion-Ledger reporter Jessica Bakeman.

Republicans just don't like women, I guess.

What do they "have" on him?

They have semen stains on their prison outfits, and a pair of his bloody undies.

Northguy3 and Barbour are both asses.

You will not find Repubs coming here and defending this action, ass.

You will not find Repubs coming here and defending this action, ass.

They're all at one of his tea bagger meetings, talking law and order and family values, right?

If they have, if that is why he pardoned them then you still have the loved ones of the victims who have legitimate objections. This is not right, IMHO.

I never liked the idea that victim's family members play any role in sentencing. That places less value on the lives of those victims who had no family.

Danni, your asspirate of a president does shit all the time without listening to those who have a stake in his decisions so go cry a fucking river bitch.

Interesting

If this were Jerry Brown rather than Hailey Barbour, this thread would have well over 200 posts.

For a new poster you sure seem to have a lot of animosity toward Danni. Most are here for six months or more before it devolves into that.

Huckabee/Barbour

4 more dead cops!

I agree. There's nothing gained by giving friends and family of the deceased a soapbox in the courtroom. Go do that on somebody else's dime. This is not an appropriate use of taxpayer-paid time, especially a high-priced judge, DA, etc.

Anybody know when this trend started, and why it hasn't met with more resistance?

That places less value on the lives of those victims who had no family.

I understand it. The dead person doesn't care, so the sentence is more for those left behind IMHO.
