A Navy destroyer rescued 13 Iranian fishermen held hostage by Somali pirates in the Arabian Sea only days after Tehran warned the United States to keep out of the Persian Gulf. Sailors from the guided-missile destroyer Kidd boarded the Iranian dhow Thursday and detained 15 Somalis after one fishermen revealed over the radio that his vessel's crew was being held captive.

The U.S. fleet will now be flying the "Irony" flag.

Well done.

God bless our Navy for doing the right thing.

If the "Law of the Sea" could somehow be applied to highways, the world would truly be a better place.

Good stuff. All of the Iranians I've ever met are very nice people. They know how shitty it is in their home and appreciate North America very much.

I used to work with many Iranian sailors who literally jumped ship after the Shah was overthrown. Nice folk. Iranic sense of humor, too.

They were electronic techs. Just so you know.

Since Tosser's suspended let me do it:

"Sure, the US probably faked the whole thing to make themselves look good. You hicks all live in trailer parks."

Translation: Icky brown people with an accent working at 7-11!

I have to drive all the way to the white side of town to get a squishy!

Let's get something straight here, I believe it was some asshole general in the Iranian army who was making threats about the US carrier. It has now morphed into Tehran threatening us. The War Machine begins ramping up.

You have it straight. But what of it? Should we simply abandon the international waterway? What would you have us do?

#5 - Usually school friends. Although a few were acquaintances of my Mother - friends, coworkers, etc.. I've never asked anyone at the corner store where they came from. Why would you do that? Pay for your shit and leave.

Did we discuss my skin color? Here's a hint: No.

Something I think everyone here should peek at.

Do the conservative thing. Let the oil companies and sudistanis protect their own damn shit, rather than spend billions on corporate welfare. If they can't/won't, conserve a measly 15% more oil and tell the ME to go fuck itself.

It ain't that hard.

I have to drive all the way to the white side of town to get a squishy!

Where did the hatred for Iran come from? What did they do to the USA and not as told by US media or neocon propaganda.

Yeah they held our diplomats hostage as payback for the USA installing the Shah and overturning their elected leader. en.wikipedia.org

The plan was to use the hostages in a plot by others to get Carter our of office before he was able to wean us off of ME oil, this neutralizing the often used claim of "strategic value" of Israel. After 9-11 they helped us in the beginning of the Afghan War.

Americans need taught a factual course in objective ME history that isn't influenced by Hollywood and the Israeli supporters in the media.

An factual observation worth repeating: The USA as a nation and economy for most (not bankers) went downhill inversely to the increased influence of the Israeli Lobby.

Well, why does it have to be US doing anything about the Strait of Hormuz. All of the other oil producing countries in the region are going to suffer, why don't they do something about it?
But first of all, why doesn't the pathetic 24 hour crapfest called our "media" send someone over there to interview the President of Iran or Iran's Secretary of State or even just people on the street instead of repeating the same shit that this General said over and over again?

Where did the hatred for Iran come from?

...a combination of years of indoctrination, and a population that's too lazy to learn history.

Agreed.

#9 I see Verm the racist is back.

Iran has said "thank you". Rat bastards!

Is this an attempt of the administration to play footize with the Mulah's hoping they will decide to play nice.

Jimmy Carter, the Shah, they held our embassy captive for I believe 290 days. What else would like to know about the peace loving Muslims?

Why can't the all powerful Iranian navy take care of it's own. If they can't deal with pirates good luck on the threats to the US.

Our ship just happened to be in the right place at the right time. If an Iranian ship had been handy, they would have done the rescue.

You're not gonna find a lot of love for pirates in any man's navy.

An individual on POTUS talk radio with Llewellyn King made a crucial observation about USA foreign policy today.

He said "the USA must start dealing with the world the way it is instead of always attempting to meddle and change it to what it wants, which is costly, creates animosity, reduces respect for the USA, and is next to impossible.

Ron Paul hits the nail on the head with his philosophy on this.

Yes he sure did.

Excellent example. See post #18.
Can't even be bothered to look up the number of days the hostages were held.
Moron.

It wouldn't take more than a few hundred thousands rounds of 50 caliber ammunition to get rid of all those pesky pirates, but Barry lacks the will to do it.
