love how drudge is now placing rubio's name into his headlines-- to prepare the nation for his probable vp candidacy...

i hate product placement, specially in politics...

I had a friend when i was growing up who could never do anything in the afternoon because he had to slop the hogs. You never hear of anyone slopping the hogs anymore.

Especially when it's a whore candidate. The only thing Rubio has going for him is the Hispanic vote. Kind of like Obama being the first black president. Screw issues, getting people to vote on looks is what matters.

#4, I'd venture a guess that that's something they do on Jersey Shore all the time.

You never hear of anyone slopping the hogs anymore.

We call that bar close breakfast in Wisconsin.

I have an absolute dislike of
foreign call centers.

Unemployment rate dropped to 8.5& from a High four months ago at 9.3%, of course the Propagandist at Fox are having a hell of a time trying to spin this one......When President Obama came to office the rate was 7.8% (LOSING 700,000 a MONTH), clearly not there yet but making progress the Republicans are not pleased and their hacks at Fox News are doing everything to minimize the dropping numbers. These Republicans and Fox News rather these numbers stay high to give them a better chance to get Obama out, SO MUCH FOR COUNTRY FIRST!!!!!!! REPUBLICANS SUCK, YEA ALL OF YOU FUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

#9 Two words - Seasonal Hiring.

Sure, but patriotwoman23 hogs the slop

I was just reading about unemployment. The numbers are cooked. Workforce participation is at one of its lowest points in history. The workforce has shrunk too, even though population is growing. So how can unemployment be going down? It can't.

BTW Celisary, do you have a job?

U6 number, baby. Look it up.

#10 - two more words to explain the Wingnuts obssession - cognitive dissonance

Just so you guys will know, and you can find this out if your read any reputable sources ( i get mine from The Economist, but i'm sure that is waaaay too intellectual for most talibaptist wingnuts to read) is that the jobs that have been lost will NEVER be back.

The jobs are gone because more and more, technology is taking the jobs. The people that have been out of work since the economy collapsed during bush's administration, will never find work unless they get re-trained.

#16
And companies that service
US consumers and send their
call centers overseas are not
helping.

#17 You will really hate this. The call center's in India are moving to the US? Why you ask? We are giving them SBA's and work Visa's. Some towns are giving tax breaks. They get minority status. The money they make goes right back to India. They have a very profitable racket going on at our expense.

And companies that service
US consumers and send their
call centers overseas are not
helping.

#17 | Posted by Bellatrix

this expemlifies the same problem that unions have. It's all math. it's not politics or emotion, just math. a low-skilled job does not deserve to be paid high wages. it's that simple.

when one sweeps the floor at GM but makes $20-30/hr, you bet your ass the company is going to find a way to pay a floor sweeper what he is worth.

How much tax does an in-home child care taker have to pay?

And companies that service
US consumers and send their
call centers overseas are not
helping.
#17 | Posted by Bellatrix

They are helping their shareholders. That's about as pro American as it gets.

They have a very profitable racket going on at our expense.

#18 | Posted by gracieamazed

that's what you get for blindly following the neo-cons and corporate socialists.

People nowadays seem to think 'their need' is the standard that companies should use to pay them, not 'their abilities'.

'I know i'm just a floor sweeper but i NEED a welders salary to live well....etc...'

#18
Don't know about that but I hope HR 3596
passes (with a bit of tweaking).
www.opencongress.org

#23 Spot on. I don't owe anyone a 'living' wage. I owe what I find value in the service provided to me. Here is Florida Min. Wage is at $7.61 an hour now and I the workmans comp I pay is twice that people pay in Alabama.

So it turns out fetusboy was a K Street whore after getting his ass handed to him in 2006.

so that makes the GOP "contenders"-One Wall Street whore and two K Street whores. Oh yeah, and tri-cornerhatguy. Not that he's going anywhere.

way to go GOP.

#21
And bringing jobs back to the US
is more pro-American.

#25 | Posted by gracieamazed

then why would you criticize a company for trying to maximize their profits?

do you reckon they should say 'to hell with profit, we are only devoted to supplying americans with living wages, until it puts us out of business'?

Gracie, i told you this when you first come here, and i will repeat it now. You are too smart to play the rigid partisan political game your friends play. Bay and PW are fine folks but they are partisans - to the point of being idiots, politically speaking.

And bringing jobs back to the US
is more pro-American.

#27 | Posted by Bellatrix

I can tell you about 10 reasons why this is not necessarily true.

"#9 Two words - Seasonal Hiring."
#10 | Posted by gracieamazed

You mean like this:

"Morgan Stanley Warns 42,000 "Jobs" Bogus Due To Seasonal Quirk"
"42,000 of the 200,000 is basically a seasonal quirk, which will be given back next month, meaning the true adjusted number is 158,000, essentially right on top of the expectation. From David Greenlaw: "some of the strength in this report should be discounted because of an seasonal quirk in the courier category of payrolls (Fed-ex, UPS, etc). Jobs in this sector jumped 42,000 in December, repeating a pattern seen in 2009 and 2010 (see attached figure). We should see a payback in next month's report."

The big picture is that borders are irrelevant, as far as business is concerned. Nationalism is irrelevant. Individuals are irrelevant.

Multi-national corps are the new world gov'ts. Anyone that doesn't understand this by now is in trouble heading into the future.

Partisan politics is a game the multi-nationals encourage, in order to keep the simpletons occupied, while they play out the plans that will hasppen whether you want them to or not.

It's just easier to do if you don't have a bunch of people running around asking intelligent questions.

There are many people on that page. If a comment goes against policy somehow how does leaving it up for all to still see make sense?

Putting something in bold does not transform it from a valid point of debate into a troll, dummy.

I'm tired of educating you today, Kanrei. Go find a date. Shoo fly!

We should do a Noooner on the question:

"Is it slander?"

Great name for our own game show -- right here on The Retort. Here's how "Is It Slander?" gets started:

Opening voiceover: "Is it slander that precipitated Tosser being dumped 4 times in Thursday's Nooner? Is it slander?"

Camera lowers to none other than moder8 in his new judge's robes, standing casually but confidently in a courtroom.

And then, get this: moder8 babbles like a libtard while passing judgement on criminal matters in California Superior Court while Tosser sits on a vacation earned in and of itself in this very thread.

If it wasn't slander, what was it?

("Retards" is a term of endearment. You should know that by now, retard.)

Come on. It takes someone else to point out to moder8 the wisdom of not being personally or professionaly associated with an onnline blog such as this cesspool? moder8 repeats this obvious piece of advice for all to read, while in the very next sentence he more or less tells the world where to find him.

It's not a sure thing to presume that moder8 is too stupid to realize that posting the info in his Farewell Tour thread is a retarded thing to do. We know he doesn't know how to work the google machine very well.

I want to say it's so stupid it has to be a trick. But moder8 is so stupid it can't be a trick.

What's the basis for tossing a retorter for following up on the obvious? Is it slander?

"What's the basis for tossing a retorter for following up on the obvious? Is it slander?
#134 | Posted by rhinomaximus"

Because even though he was too fucking stupid to realize he had the wrong real human being, Tosser thought he was exposing Moder8's true identity, which is not permitted here. Fuck, dude, this is really not that complicated. Think it through.

#119 Rhino maybe following it but not posting the results?

#125 | Posted by gracieamazed

It took less than a minute of googling. A bunch of folks could have and probably did pursue it. So we're supposed to sit here -- while moder8 conceivably sits on the California Supreme Court -- and act like we don't know him? That's not very Retort-like.

That's not very Retort-like.

Yes, it is. We all respect and do not cross a line, no matter how "personal" our fights get. That line is vital to this place working and, when crossed, must be dealt with without any gray area or hesitation.

#134 Moder8 has been nothing but kind to me and I read what he wrote as a goob-bye and some great news on why he was leaving. How come it could not be left at that? For a group that trashes him so much you all spend a lot of time discussing him and waiting for tiny pieces or hints to look further into him and his life. Let's say that was not him for a minute. There are some very scary people here that may have taken that name along with the picture posted and done some ugly things to someone that has no clue what the nooner is. As always, IHMO.

Even Jackass respects that line. He and Hag have both found me on Facebook and both let me know without exposing any of it to anyone. Jackass described my profile photo and Hag told me an update I made. They respect this place.

The rule is clear: do not post personal information of another blogger on this site.

#136 | Posted by kanrei

Look. You know I get the wisdom of the rule (is it unwritten?). Kanrei, you and I have both joked about potential consequences in public life from posting on the Retort. It's obvious stuff, I would think to everyone. But apparently not to moder8, who needs a lawyer apparently to point this out to him, and a life coach to help him learn to exercise discretion.

An still we have some people on the republican side. Who wants to take the DOW back down to 7,949 where bush left it on jan 20,2009...

These people are the religious control freaks, they hate people having free choice.

I know...I can envision a site where we are ALL here as one...where no voice is left to feel unecouraged and no opinion is said to be anything other than NICE and what a testiment to our system of government where so many of such various and different upbringings and cultures can 'talk' to each other and possibly even 'persuade' someone else with FACTS and honest.........AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

so thank you for allowing me to say this

when it comes to comment on the statements of yours

'you're nuts...

while moder8 conceivably sits on the California Supreme Court

It's not the Supreme Court. It's the Superior Court, which is the equivalent of the "Circuit Court" or trial court in any other jurisdiction. Moder8 was probably happy that so many people didn't understand the difference.

here's to a great weekend all....so tell me..is it too late to go up to some good looking bitch with big tits and grab a happy new year's kiss.............

"So we're supposed to sit here -- while moder8 conceivably sits on the California Supreme Court --
#138 | Posted by rhinomaximus"

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST DUDE! Can you possibly figure out the difference between these two things?

1. Being appointed to the California SUPERIOR (i.e., trial) Court; and

2. Being considered for appointment to the California Superior Court?

Can you? Fuck. Moder8 claimed that he was being considered for appointment to one of these judicial positions. There are literally hundreds of these judges in California. Googling some other attorney who was appointed to some other judicial seat a month earlier does not mean you found Moder8.

Goddamn it. Think, dude!

If what Tosser and Wisgod posted was so heinous, why repost their retorts in the Dumped Comments page?

100% right. NW Flag.

I can't believe:

A) There is any debate about this
B) Monte and I are in agreement.

YOU DO NOT POST PERSONAL INFORMATION ABOUT BLOGGERS HERE!

Rhino I already asked that question, makes no sense.

"If what Tosser and Wisgod posted was so heinous, why repost their retorts in the Dumped Comments page?
#149 | Posted by rhinomaximus"

Because they THOUGHT (at least in Tosser's case) that they were outing MOder8's identity.

"YOU DO NOT POST PERSONAL INFORMATION ABOUT BLOGGERS HERE!"

I guess I was the original "victim" of that violation here.

Sorry, #153 makes no sense. They were reposted because they actually had nothing to do with Moder8's true identity.

#153 The point is (and I agree with you) the posts are still for all to see and damage to be done on the deleted posts page. Makes no sense.

My name is Murray Rothbard and I am a Jewish anarchist from Brooklyn

There was no actual damage done because the photo and bio etc. were not Moder8. If they were actually him, I'm sure RCade would not leave them in the deleted comments section.

There was no actual damage done because the photo and bio etc. were not Moder8.

Gracie brought up a good point though: it is someone's photo and name who doesn't know about us, Moder8 or anyone who may really hate him enough to be stupid. It isn't right or fair to this poor guy to possibly endanger him because Moder8 got into a fight in the Nooner with a psycho.

Don't be dense Montecore. I've already told you I understand that moder8 is not an already appointed judge.

moder8's Farewell Tour was a farce. "I've been advised for very important professional and personal reasons to lay low. Turns out you may be able to find me within a relative handful of nominees for the California Superior Court."

That just gets a stupid flag.

Dem NLRB ˜"recess" appointments rushed, don't appear on White House nominee list

dailycaller.com

"WhiteHouse.gov tracks the status of all of Obama's appointments and nominations. Block and Griffin do not appear on that list - " a sign that the administration rushed the recess appointments through too quickly for the Senate to even consider them.

"It's hard to argue that the Senate was obstructing these Democratic nominees when they don't even appear on the administration’s own list of nominations and appointments," U.S. Chamber of Commerce labor policy specialist Glenn Spencer told The Daily Caller."

Maybe that rule should get posted more prominently. It's nicely worded. Unfortunately it comes right after this rule:

Users who post comments should follow common rules of netiquette, like not posting in ALL CAPS.

And just before this one:

Creating a second account to circumvent these rules will result in a permanent loss of account privileges.

The positioning (and enforcement of these rules) obscures the importance of the Retorters' Code of Privacy.

Anyone get the feeling RCADE works for the CIA?

you know what lip, I hope like hell I am wrong, in fact, I've never hoped for anything more in my life bro, that's a fact jack...

#122 | Posted by baysideinpc

wrong about what? wrong about your political views? I hope so too. Because when i hear you and patriotlady, i only hear rush limppaw.

Let me tell you something. I have no desire to defend obama (or any other president) or their policies. As far as i'm concerned, we are in reagan's sixth term, they've only been conducted by different men.

But when political discussion becomes so stratified that you have to 'choose sides', i will always choose the side with the smartest guy or the guy who is the most humanistic, in both cases, that's obama.

And, even though i am a fiscal conservative (and a social liberal), i wouldn't vote for any of the repub retards if my life depended on it. And i reject, with extreme prejudice, a philosophy that is only designed to kill the other guy and does nothing to solve real world problems.

"Anyone get the feeling RCADE works for the CIA?"

No.

I think Rcade works for Al Queda and he uses this site to divide us even more.

Maybe not the CIA, but Homeland Security.

YOUR HOROSCOPE

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 - Feb. 18): You have an inventive mind and are inclined to be progressive. You lie a great deal. You make the same mistake repeatedly because you are stupid. Everyone thinks you are a fucking jerk.

PISCES (Feb. 19 - March 20): You have a vivid imagination and often think you are being followed by the FBI or CIA. You have minor influence on your friends and people resent you for flaunting your power. You lack confidence and are a general dipshit.

ARIES (March21 - April 19): You are the pioneer type and think most people are dickheads. You are quick tempered, impatient, and scornful of advice. You are a prick.

TAURUS (April 20 - May 20): You are practical and persistent. You have a dogged determination and work like hell. Most people think you are stubborn and bullheaded. You are nothing but a damn communist.

GEMINI (May 21 June 20): You are a quick and intelligent thinker. People like you because you are bisexual. You are inclined to expect too much for too little. This means you are a cheap bastard. Geminis are notorious for thriving on incest.

CANCER (June 21 July 22): You are sympathetic and understanding to other peoples problems, which makes you a sucker. You will always be on welfare and wont be worth a shit. Everybody in prison is a Cancer.

LEO (July 23 - Aug. 22): You consider yourself a born leader. Others think you are an idiot. Most Leos are bullies. You are vain and cannot tolerate honest criticism. Your arrogance is disgusting. Leo people are thieving motherfuckers and spend most of their time kissing mirrors.

VIRGO (Aug. 23 - Sept. 22): You are the logical type and hate disorder. This shitpicking is sickening to your friends. You are cold and unemotional and often fall asleep while fucking. Virgos make good bus drivers and pimps.

LIBRA (Sept. 23 - Oct. 22): You are the artistic type and have a difficult time with reality. If you are male, you are probably queer. Chances for employment and monetary gain are nil. Most Libra women are whores. All Libras die of venereal disease.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23 Nov. 21): The worst of the lot. You are shrewd in business and cannot be trusted. You shall achieve the pinnacle of success because of your total lack of ethics. You are a perfect son of a bitch. Most Scorpios are murdered.

SAGITARRIUS (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21): You are optimistic and enthusiastic. You have a reckless tendency to rely on luck since you have no talent. The majority of Sagittarians are drunks. Nixon is a Sagittarian. You are not worth the time of day.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22 Jan. 19): You are conservative and afraid of taking risks. You are basically chickenshit. There has never been a Capricorn of any importance. You should kill yourself.

That's funny. I let my son do my farming in LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online).

If there was one analogy for the failing artificial Eurozone system we had not heard so far, was one comparing it to Hogwarts (thank you Harry Potter). Now, courtesy of Tullet Prebon that is no longer the case: "Albus Mario Dumbledore and Harry Constancio Potter are due to assemble next Thursday for the next episode of the sovereign Voldemort saga. It is foretold that during the press conference the headmaster will unveil his wand and deliver an almighty spell, ‘Expelliarmus Debtus’, whereupon the dreaded Troika Dementors will be vaporised disappearing into the austerity vortex, leaving the Muggles to live happily ever after."

Lip, I know that borders are irrelevant in business

Ninkasi Tricerahops good, Blue Moon bad.
Stone Brewing Co. Arrogant Bastard Ale good, Blue Moon bad.

etc. etc. etc.

I can read just fine, retard. The point is, Tosser thought he was posting authentic identification info for a retort member. The fact that he was mistaken, and that it could be shown that he was mistaken, is beside the point.

Now shut up and go away. You are dense and extraordinarily bothersome.

#205
Thanks Gracie. I know I jumped into
some pretty raucous jokes from others
at your expense (gotta admit Wis, et al
are especially funny when they get punny)
but all in all you seem pretty decent and
you seem to care a lot about your home

From 100 or so posts back --

That (already appointed) judge is not Moder8, dummy.

#99 | Posted by mOntecOre

That's part of my point. moder8 leaves some obvious bread crumbs on a political blog site about a political appointment he may/may not receive. Tosser follows the crumbs down a blind alley and gets, well, tossed.

Why?

#109 | Posted by rhinomaximus

Do you not understand what a "blind alley" is?

Let's all agree to disagree about Tosser. Wish him well, see him in 21 days and move on to another topic?? Please?

#217
Good point Grace.
Feel the same way about all this
Moder8 discourse.

If the dude (and I suppose he is a dude)
has been nominated to become a Superior
Court Judge in the the Bear State then
more power to him. They all need to let
it go and if he come back to post then
so be it. Fodder for commentary is still
fodder for commentary.

I've moved on to talking about what an idiot Montecore is.

Glad to see you're getting more into the spirit of the DR.

Who has pets? If so what kind?

#220 FF

Speaking of hardwood floors . . .

Rhino,
I wouldn't call Montecore an idiot.
But he definitely has an opinionated
taste about tequila.

He still hasn't responded to my
inquiry about his choice as to
whether or not to drink Cuervo
if it's the only tequila offered
and it's free. My guess is he is
just opinionated. Nothing wrong with
that.
:)

One apparently domesticated feline.
I say apparently because he was a
street kitty of the worst kind.

Totally feral.

Now, he knows the good life.
Catches mice on the property.
Catches really big spiders in the
house and he knows on which side
his bread is buttered.

His name is T.C.
the Cat.

Wouldn't trade him for anything.
My mom is terminal with cancer
and since she moved in to our home
four months ago he has been at the foot
of her bed offering comfort to her whenever
she needs it. He's a pretty cool cat.

Cool Bella. I have five house ponies all rescued from kill shelters. A Mastiff, Rottie, Pitt Bull, Catahoula and Beagle. We live in the country. I have about 6 very spoiled feral cats I take care of and food plots for the deer to eat. Major foot down on that, they can't hunt our property. If I name it, it is a pet, don't care what it is!!

You Mom will be in my thoughts and Prayers. Hospice is wonderful if you have not looked into it. They can be a great help and comfort.

#225
I've found that many DR members
will disagree with me on one topic
and then there is some kind of
simpatico on another.

It's just people with differing opinions.
I do like the facts though. And when someone
here points out a proof to something I
was previously ignorant about I will appreciate
it.

I've agreed with stuff that Monte has posted.
I've also seen the point in some of what Jackass
has posted. Same with many others. Most times
I don't retort I just read. Consider. And if
I feel I have pertinent point to make I will.

It's all about communication in the long run,
the more of it the better for the human race as
a whole. I just don't like it when people
depend on others to make their opinions up for
them. That is the breakdown I suppose. That is the
double edged sword.

I read the crap you post and I really have to say one thing....cure that vaginal itch.

I guess I don't understand why an opinion can't be expressed without being vulgar and sounding so very pre-teenish?

All women experience feminine itch, as do men suffer from sweaty itchy stinky ball sacks.

Sigh... Just heard Don Carted died today. Unless you are a bowler or lived in Kendall you won't know who he is.

Tosser got booted again?

That's a terrible shame.

Good grief, the fog here is thick as pea soup. I do believe we are living in bloody London. Chip Chip Cheerio, and all that good stuff.

No crap Patriot. Going to have to tie glow sticks to the ponies if I let them out. The guys are on a FWC hunt this weekend. Can you play?

Nobody gives a shit about the weather in Panama City.

With all this back and forth about the "recess appointments" Obama made. Here is some info to pick your brain a little. I posted this on the other thread but it bears repeating.

Article 1, Section 5: "Neither House....shall, without the consent of the other, adjourn for more than three days". The House did not consent to block Obama from making any recess appointments, which is EXACTLY what the Democrats did in November of 2007, and for the remainder of Bush's term. And remember that when this appointee was put forth for a vote in Congress he did not have the approval to move forward so Mr. I am King, tried an end run.

(Nothing about a "blind alley" here either.)

And this:

Woman flipping baby video. This is so bizarre and creepy. Just saw it on TV.

None of that says I think moder8 is the already appointed judge. it says moder8 appeared to leave the door wide open by placing himself in a small, prominent group.

Thanks for double checking.

You said he left a "retardedly wide open trail" to his identity. You said Tosser should not have been punished for following Moder8's wide open trail. You were wrong. There was no "wide open trail." The shit Tosser was (re)posting was some other dude.

Game, set, match. Go punish yourself, polesmoker.

Having a hot flash. Shut your mouths please until it passes.

Your comprehension is quite poor. No wonder your posts self-contradict so often.

I questioned the basis of Tosser's dumps given that he went down a blind alley. He didn't actually post anyone's info is the point.

That doesn't change the fact that moder8 was an idiot for giving so much information about himself, barely a breath after acknowledging that he shouldn't even be here.

Kanrei pointed out the privacy policy, which is quite clear. However, I pointed out that the enforcement of this site's moderation policies is uneven, to the point of being lax.

I think Tosser got hung from the bridge because this episode followed too closely on the heels of the Gracies' stalker.

Read better. Think better. Post better.

That's quite a change for you. Usually it's your ass that you're talking out of.

"I think Tosser got hung from the bridge because this episode followed too closely on the heels of the Gracies' stalker."

Or possibly when you do nothing but start troll threads every day and spam them 5 to 1 with your own posts and generally act like an arrogant blowhard that knows all there is to know about everybody and everything, you might just lower the tolerance threshold on yourself a bit.

Just a theory.

Sorry. ARE you doing drugs tonight?

However, I pointed out that the enforcement of this site's moderation policies is uneven, to the point of being lax.

I'll agree with you there, though moderation is not 'uneven' or 'lax' due to certain ideologies or political preference but more tied to Roger's manrag cycle.

Regardless, Tosser attempted to out ModerFake. That is a violation of Roger's moderation policy and had nothing to do with the girls from Truvy's Beauty Parlor.

Redial, what?

I see tosser is enjoying a vacation lol. He needs to learn to obey the rules like me.

Take it easy, he's talking about Tosser's 5-to-1 spamming out on the other threads (check 'em out sometime, esp. late nights), not the 200 posts you biddies used to put up here daily on the Nooner.

Why everybody should be glad McCain lost:

McCain drew chuckles from the audience with a slip of the tongue near the close of his speech. “And so I am confident with the leadership and backing of the American people, President Obama will turn this country around,” he said,

"Lindsey Graham and Jim DeMint have joined with me time after time to go to the floor of the Senate to fight against the earmark pork-barrel corruption," he said. "Earmarks are a gateway to corruption, and I can tell you that neither Mitt Romney nor Rick Santorum share that view."

He will rebuild the moral of American and he will restore America,” McCain said of Romney. “I guarantee you he will not lead from behind like Ronald Reagan. He will lead from in front.”

How about Obama's gaffe just yesterday:

"If Congress won't enact policies that harm the American economy I will."

Or something like that. Kanrei caught it in the Recess Appointment thread, I think.

WTF Patroit? Funny but!!!!!

#263 | Posted by gracieamazed

Tosser's usual schtick is to start some provocative thread and then post to it himself over and over until someone else finally does. Then he drives the post count up by responding to every post with two or three (or ten) of his own. He can type faster than a 14 year old girl on an iPhone.

Then he clucks about how his threads always have a high post count because he's so worldly and interesting.

He got burned this time because he is also what we used to call a "tattletale" back in about grade 3.

#262 Other threads??

#263 | Posted by gracieamazed

FF yes, other threads.

There are dozens of other threads in play on this site at any given time. Redial was referring to the fact that Tosser is notoriously omnipresent, especially on threads he starts himself.

You ladies thinking about maybe starting a thread yourselves these days, now that you seem to have yourselves under control? It will work much better than your past efforts to demand rational debate on substantive issues here on the Nooner.

Oh Sweetie, you can see my posts there as well. And my hilarious one about that very subject at #238, on this thread tonight. HA HA HA HA

Not only should illegal aliens not be allowed to vote in this country (we can't vote in their country's election, and they are illegal votes for the Democrats), but no one in this nation should be allowed to vote unless they can pass a test about the Constitution. You have to pass a driving test to drive, why not a voting test to vote? That would disenfranchise the majority of Democratic voters. AWW, and that would be mean.

#272 | Posted by rhinomaximus
Why yes I am! And your "friend" called about that little problem you have been dealing with. It isn't the cold water that causes the shrinkage, and no it is not their lack of participation after one hour. LOL!

What did she say is the problem? Can't you even take a message properly?

Under Ronald Reagan, a fine was a tax for doing wrong.
Under Barack Obama, a tax is a fine for doing well.

"...no one in this nation should be allowed to vote unless they can pass a test about the Constitution."

What kind of test? And whose interpretation of the Constitution?

The Constitution is not, nor was it intended to be, interpreted. It is clear and I suggest that you read it, along with the Federalist papers.

If you are suggesting that we should revisit it, I am all hell bent on wheels for a Constitutional Convention. HELL YES!

Just a piece of paper that needs to be redone.

"It is clear and I suggest that you read it..."

So why so much debate about it? Everyone thinks it "clearly" means whatever they think it means, but others somehow differ.

2nd Amendment comes to mind.

#283 | Posted by REDIAL
Go on........... Can you be more specific in regards to that particular Amendment? How is that meant to be interpreted?

"I am all hell bent on wheels for a Constitutional Convention."

If that is some mechanism to bring the Constitution up to date with the modern world, that's probably a good idea.

I can't see it ever accomplishing anything, however.

The two most recent Supreme Court rulings regarding the 2nd Amendment stand as follows:
In District of Columbia v. Heller (2008), the Court ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm, unconnected to service in a militia[1][2] and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. Additionally, the Court enumerated several longstanding prohibitions and restrictions on firearms possession that it found were consistent with the Second Amendment.[3] In McDonald v. Chicago (2010), the Court ruled that the Second Amendment limits state and local governments to the same extent that it limits the federal government.[4]

#286 | Posted by REDIAL
You really need to brush up on your facts. But I will agree that the Washington rulers would cream in their jeans if it did.

I am all hell bent on wheels for a Constitutional Convention. HELL YES!

Hell no. Especially with the delegations we have in office now (dem or pub).

"How is that meant to be interpreted?"

I don't know. I see two sides:

Everyone who inhales has a right to "keep and bear arms"

Or, those in a "well regulated Militia" do.

Don't quote me, I'm Canadian.

I've also seen debates about what "arms" one should be able to "keep and bear". Muskets? Attack submarines?

If the Constitution is so clear I don't understand why the Supreme Court has to put the magnifying glass on so many issues, and why the votes on many cases are so close. And usually politically partisan.

No shit Wurster,I agree

Washington is the problem. We the people, the majority (they are the ruling minority) need to strip them clean by our right to vote the son of a bitches out, and clean up the crony capitalism and the day to day screwing of the majority. With the Liberal view we would all be beholding to our daddies and mommies. We might as well be all saying "yes sir, may I have another?" While they live like kings, we are getting regulated into the gutter of slavery.

The Constitution is not, nor was it intended to be, interpreted. It is clear and I suggest that you read it, along with the Federalist papers.

#280 | Posted by patriotwoman23

Well that's just ironic. What are The Federalist Papers if not interpretations of the Constitution? You're not trying to suggest they are the Constitution.

As California (liberal state) goes, so will go the rest of the nation. Regulation Nation! GREAT! Somehow, by design, Washington has made many in this nation forget that they work for us, not the other way around. What rabbit hole did the minority fall into?

"Well that's just ironic. What are The Federalist Papers if not interpretations of the Constitution?"

Don't bother. This "patriot" woman is fucking retarded.

"We the people, the majority (they are the ruling minority)..."

Wasn't that the whole idea? That the minority not be held hostage by the majority? Republic as opposed to Democracy and all that?

Mc Cain came out to support Obama at a Romney rally...

It was on the news.... Mc Cain doesn't even know who the hell is running...

No, the Federalist papers were a debate, if you will, of the Constitution. Some of the Federalist views made good sense, but overall one must remember that these were debates accorded of the time roughly 10 years later (I am pretty sure). As in Federalist 1: It has been frequently remarked, that it seems to have been reserved to the people of this country, by their conduct and example, to decide the important question, whether societies of men are really capable or not, of establishing good government from reflection and choice, or whether they are forever destined to depend, for their political constitutions, on accident and force."
They debated the effectiveness or the necessity of the Constitution.

And the essays were written to support the ratification of the Constitution, were they not?

"How is that meant to be interpreted?"
I don't know. I see two sides:
Everyone who inhales has a right to "keep and bear arms"
Or, those in a "well regulated Militia" do.

Try to understand what the "people" means in the sentence and comma placement.
It will then become clear.
Just because someone has another opinion about it does not mean they are correct,or that their point should be understood. Their opinion is just irrelevant.

We are trying to have an intelligent discussion which I welcome. I learn from others. Your post is just childish stupidity. And it is clear that you have nothing to add intellectually because you obviously know nothing and that shows you are a blind follower.

Wtf....Rogers, I posted a Muzak thread and it is attacking me..

Is that you?

Washington is the problem.

We as citizens are the problem.

#297 | Posted by truthteller101

As long as the blind continue to run around in circles chasing their tails, and stuck on stupid then YES, We The People are the problem. Turn off the boob tube, and look around you.

And the essays were written to support the ratification of the Constitution, were they not?

#299 | Posted by patriotwoman23

You're ignorant or being disingenuous. They support ratification of the Constitution by giving elaborate, and often differing (different authors for different papers), interpretations of how it will work.

To say the Constitution is very clear and needs no interpretation is just trolling.

Something is wrong with the muzak thread I posted, I have no idea what it is.

Don't click on it.

"Some of the Federalist views made good sense, but overall one must remember that these were debates accorded of the time roughly 10 years later (I am pretty sure)."

from #269

Huh? Is there a coherent concept in there? The Federalist Papers were published sequentially, concurrent with the debate over replacing the Articles of Confederation with the Constitution.

You seem to have The Federalist Papers mixed up with The Bible, which, of course, was written more than 100 years after any of the protagonists were alive.

The Federalist should have debated a little more;

We the people('ceptin women and niggers of course)in order to form a more perfect........

Maybe the Blue Moon has kicked in and you're confused somehow over the significance of the number 10 in The Federalist Papers? Federalist #10, written by Madison under the name 'Publius', is the most famous of the articles.

#309 And don't forget folks who aren't lawyers or landholders.
"We the people" meant "We the people who have earned the title of 'Esquire.'

"The whole series is cited by scholars and jurists as an authoritative interpretation and explication of the meaning of the Constitution."

en.wikipedia.org

Really blows up your 'no interpretation needed' gig.

I'd argue that when you write a huge document with a quill and ink you might let the odd misplaced comma go. I may well be wrong.

"It will then become clear."

Or not.

for all the goodness life has to offer.

#321 | Posted by Bellatrix

That said, do you consider it clear and unambiguous, or open to interpretation?

#315 | Posted by REDIAL at 2012-01-06 10:21 PM | Reply | Flag:

Intellectuals at that time were very precise with their writings, they labored over meanings, proper use of grammer and sentence structure.

To suggest that a comma was just an errant drop of ink on a very important document is just plain silly.

Therefore irrelevant.

rwd

"Intellectuals at that time were very precise with their writings, they labored over meanings, proper use of grammer and sentence structure."

So why are there still so many debates about what is "Constitutional", or not? And why do they take years to resolve?

Is "ObamaCare" unconstitutional? How many minor 'courts' has that bounced around trying to land it in the hands of the "Supreme Court", that somehow gets to make a 5-4 decision one way or the other?

The more modern the world becomes, the less clear the "Constitution" becomes. Same thing happened to the Magna Carta.
