Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Friday, January 06, 2012

The U.S. economy added 200,000 jobs in December, ending the year with 1.6 million jobs gained over that period, the Labor Department reported Friday.in 2011. That's 600,000 more jobs than were gained in 2010. "This is a good solid report, and the big message here is that 2011 was much better than 2010," said Scot Melland, CEO of Dice Holdings.

More bad news for the GOP, it will be funny watching them on tomorrow night as they try to pretend nothing is getting better.
Also notice Jeb Bush's ads are everywhere lately??? Hmmm.

Bad news for the GOP? He finally met the number he promised that cost us $784B years ago. Brav-fucking-o.

If my sources are correct, the working age population grows by almost double that amount. In other words, the job market is not keeping up with the growing workforce. So if some kid comes out of high school or college and can't find a job, he doesn't count as unemployed. Then there are those who's benefits ran out; they don't count either.

Not in labor force increasing:

Mean duration of unemployment increasing

Civilian-employment population ratio getting worse:

Unemployment rate 16-19 years old almost 25%

Not in labor force still growing

Way to spoil an otherwise reasonably debatable post.

Let's notice that as the labor market worsens, government debt is increasing.

Every economic indicator has been doing better since Obama was elected.

No thanks to GOP obstruction.

BTW, where have all the GOP jobs bills been lost? Remember how they talked about it? They truly made their #1 priority the defeat of Obama, not turning our economy around. Same old ideas that got us in this mess in the first place is all they've offered.

No thanks to GOP obstruction.

LOL! When good things happen, it is an Obama credit, but when bad things happen, the GOP is suddenly powerful and effective and to blame.

I was debating between newsworthy and funny. If it wasn't so painfully obvious over two years ago it would have been newsworthy. You get the FF, because its painfully obvious. Emphasis on pain.

"Unemployment rate 16-19 years old almost 25%"

Republican solution: raise the retirement age.

GOP's a boogey man
That's the Obama plan
Blame them for everything
Dems don't give a damn
Be it the economy
Or Gitmo
They don't do crap
Because they know
We'll blame the GOP
For the misery
Even though they're
The Minority
And igore the fact
That for two years
Obama had it all
Still spread GOP fears
Oh yeah
OH YEAH

A. GOP Obstruction
B. No GOP jobs bill
C. It's still better than it could have been
D. Bush invaded Iraq

Democrat solution: raise the minimum wage. It worked just as economic law says it would; it priced low skilled labor out of the market.

WISGOD didn't read the article ... a-gain. Typical. An 'incurious mind'.

"The economy added 200,000 jobs in the month, the Labor Department reported Friday, closing out the year with 1.6 million jobs gained in 2011. "

"The encouraging news was coupled with revisions to the Labor Department's data going back five years, which showed the unemployment rate has fallen for four consecutive months.

While private businesses have been adding jobs consistently since March 2010, the government has been slashing payrolls. In December, private employers added 212,000 jobs, and the public sector cut 12,000 jobs.
Young workers getting hired again

The manufacturing, health care and education industries were all bright spots in December, each adding more than 20,000 jobs. Even the construction industry, which had been bleeding jobs the two prior months, hired another 17,000 workers."

So, 200,000 minus 20,000 minus 17,000 is 163,000. Do you think, dummy, that any of those are seasonal? God damn.

The manufacturing, health care and education industries were all bright spots in December,

The three places we are currently trying our best to destroy through outsourcing, Obamacare, and attacks on teachers.

Posted again here also?

I will too:

"Actually, the Bureau Of Labor Statistics quietly revised down last month's number of jobs added - from 120,000 to 100,000. And yet they left the official November unemployment rate un-changed."
"Again, according to the Bureau Of Labor Statistics, the number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) remained un-changed last month, at 5.6 million. Which accounted for 42.5 percent of the unemployed."
sweetness-light.com

"Jobless Claims Down 15K, After Going Up 21K"
"In typical fashion the AP neglects to mention that the previous week’s new unemployment claims number was actually up by a whopping 21,000. In fact, that terrible news got practically no attention last week, since it was reported during the Christmas holidays."
sweetness-light.com

"CNN: Dec Hiring Up, But So Is Jobless Rate"
"Just as they do now every month, the news media are trotting out their excuses for their masters in the Obama administration ahead of time."
"Now we are being told that the unemployment rate will be higher because more people are looking for work."
"But, man alive, those "discouraged workers" are a handy invention. They can even be used to explain how hiring can be "significantly ramped up" in December, and yet the December unemployment rate still goes up a tick."
sweetness-light.com

It's 2012...election year. Good news is on the menu of the day. The advice is to take it with a grain of salt.

Duh. As I posted, the labor market grows by about 350,000 a month. It shows in the data I posted.

There has to be something fucked up in the Liberal mind to ignore data that goes entirely against their belief systam. It's as bad as Christian fundamentalism.

Let's not forget that November was revised up to 8.7% for unemployment rate rather than the 8.6% that was touted originally.

It's not the government's job to create jobs, it's supposed to get the fuck out of the way so private industries can do it.

"....welllllllll you just might be in for a little surprise and a big disappointment."

I posted my suspicion weeks ago that exactly what you are saying is the Rove's secret plan. If they can prevent any of the current candidates from achieving a majority of delegates before teh convention then anything is possible so watch as the lead in this race goes back and forth so that none of them will have enough delegates sewn up for the nomination.

It is sad really.

The US could add 399,999 jobs in a month and they would still bitch that it wasn't 400,000.

No, it's great news for the 200,000 that now have jobs, and the economy as a whole I suppose, but it's going to be a short term victory. Once the market gets trashed again and everyone's 401k get obliterated, those numbers will come down, again, and with a vengence.

"Your history of loving failures is well documented."

Congresswoman Sekula-Gibbs would beg to differ!

Let the haters begin...

Wow. 8.6% unemployed and 18.6% underemployed
Including another 50k that dropped out of the workforce.
And 726 thinks that this is success.

I just have to laugh at this.

the government lies to us, we all know they lie to us and the figure some how make wall street produce better on the lies.

Has to really tell you how fictitious our wall street dollar is.

Too bad elections aren't in January. Obama can't pretend seasonal labor is permanent in November of 2012.

where have all the GOP jobs bills been

13 guys in Jing Jang China are busy making incandescent light bulbs. Not surprisingly, at a company magicunderwearguy exported.

Too bad Joe can't read.

from the ARTICLE

"Jobs in retail and the food services were also on the rise, as were positions for couriers and messengers. In spite of the Labor Department's seasonal adjustments, some analysts caution that these positions could be related to holiday hiring."

the 8.5 % unemployment rate is SEASONALLY ADJUSTED.

Regardless, employment for the year were 1.6 million jobs gained in 2011.

Up from 940,000 jobs added the year before.

How sad is it that good news for America now = bad news for GOPers?

Has to really tell you how fictitious our wall street dollar is.
You sound like Ron Paul.

And Wall Street didn't react positively to the number. The market is down.
The reality is that the numbers suck. 726 is running around having orgasms because the bar has been lowered so far that this abortion looks good compared to the summer of recovery.

Black unemployment is 15.8%
Teenagers - 23%
2.5 Million aren't even counted because they hadn't looked for work in the last 4 weeks.
The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) was little changed at 5.6 million and accounted for 42.5 percent of the unemployed.

And guess what - Gas prices are going back up which means the economy will slow again. Same shit, different day.

- stats.bls.gov

where have all the GOP jobs bills been

Gone with Solyndra I suppose.

Too bad BonerBoy can't read his own quote.

"In spite of the Labor Department's seasonal adjustments, some analysts caution that these positions could be related to holiday hiring."

Run along now.

Maybe reading is not your problem Joe. Looks like it is comprehension.

The point being the numbers have ALREADY been seasonally adjusted to account for holiday hiring (as they always are in December).

I would bet those same "analysts" are GOPers using their pretzel logic to twist any and every good piece of economic news to somehow look bad.

Cause Good news for America is Bad news for GOPers come November!

The point being the numbers have ALREADY been seasonally adjusted to account for holiday hiring (as they always are in December).

Incorrect, they are adjusted for retail sectors, not for shipping sectors which accounted for approx. 42k jobs that will be gone next month.

Don't worry though, next month they will probably fudge it because SETI discovered alien life.

I think this tells the story: e.businessinsider.com

Clearthinker,

obama won't use the chart because the explanation is readily seen.

Looking at the chart one can see that the private sector is not growing, it is making minor corrections to what they have already done. They have layed off more people than they needed and are just making the corrections to this.

Now now. Let's be fair. So are libs a bunch of religious control freaks.

Incorrect, they are adjusted for retail sectors, not for shipping sectors which accounted for approx. 42k jobs that will be gone next month.

I am not sure this is true.

So, the one area that has the most season changes is not adjusted for seasonal changes?

Fact is, there were increases across the board not just shipping and warehousing.

How a GOPer sees things:

Mining employment rose by 7,000..had to mine all that extra coal for Xmas stockings!

In December, manufacturing employment expanded by 23,000 ... only to replace everything bought for Xmas then they will be laid off.

Health care continued to add jobs in December (+23,000) ...seasonal... too much Xmas cheer (see food services and drinking).

employment in food services and drinking places continued to trend up
in December (+24,000) ....seasonal...too much Xmas drinking is the reason for those seasonal increases in Health Care jobs!

Construction employment even added 20,000 (though it only offset previous losses) (scratches head...seasonal housing only?)

professional and business services changed little (our plan is werking!)

Government employment changed little in December but was down by 280,000 over the year (our plan is werking!)

obviously this is all BAD NEWS (especially no government layoffs just before Christmas)... for a GOPer!

So, is Obama now responsible for the economy DR left? In your minds does he know own it?

Or with any future signs of slippage, will you disavow any responsibility and blame GW again?????

Haters, really! Is the American public really that stupid. Is the public aware of the massive tax increases on all Americans from expiring tax cuts, Obama care taxes, wait those don't apply to the lower income folks. There are more taxes to come folks, but your too dumb to figure that out. Wait until his government prices/taxes you into the cars they want you to drive, tell you how hot/cold you can keep your home ect. Just wait until the government decides winners and losers, not hard work. Yes we will be the China of the west, just keep it up America. I'm not fond of liberal Presidents, but past ones such as Clinton actually liked the American way of life. Obama spent most of his life living outside America, and as he promised, he is going to fundamentally change this country. Was it really that bad???? He will not get my hard earned money, nor will he dictate racist policies that will prevent my kids from being successful. Don't be stupid America, do some research into this man and all the anti american policies that will come into affect in 2013. HMMM don't you find it strange that all the bad stuff was put off until after the 2012 election. WAKE UP AMERICA BEFORE YOU LOSE YOUR COUNTRY FOREVER. What color is the sky in your world?

it's blue, what color is it in your liberal utopia? Would you like to live in a country with a hybrid communist/capitalist ideology??? Well that is the road we are on. Perhaps you are not smart, or hard working enough to make it on your own. Thus, you feel the need to be a leech, and take from others. Pathetic!

Oh, and he should be proud of all the Mcdonalds jobs created!! Doesn't matter you don't need to make more, government death care on the way, and the rich will have to pay you their fair share. Liberal Utopia, wow, awesome. Oh, and just wait until the tell you what to drive, or how hot/cold your government provided housing should be. IS THIS THE AMERICA YOU WANT???????

Economy Added 200,000 Jobs in December.

And how many of them are still jobs TODAY ?

The democrates know your stupid, it does not take much to fool those who WANT and NEED to believe.

Ask questions.

....NOPE in November.....

"The democrates know your stupid..."

The quintessential self-retorting retort.

Romney is not perfect, but he is pragmatic enough to unite the country, and if you compare him against the direction Obama is taking America, he is Reagan, and Coolidge combined. Remember Coolidge had to rescue the country from another liberal mastermind Woodrow Wilson steered us into the ditch.

The unemployment rate was 8.3% in his first year, so whoo hoo great job. The U6 number is still above 15% and there are now 45 million fellow Americans on food stamps. Job accomplished, Baroke. Another three year (equal to current time served) and we can add an additional 45 million and then we can all wear funny little hats and dance naked in the streets singing all hail the mastermind. Never mind, he won't get re-elected, THANK GOD!

All you democrats supporting this guy are pathetic. You want the government to control people's lives, and you want an unfair portion of hard working American's money. Why??? Well, I believe it's because you are aware of your own personal inadequacies and failures, and you feel the need to punish others. The democrat is the little kid that was picked on and now he is pissed, AWWWW! Well as a conservative, I don't care how a liberal lives their life. Just let me keep my money, decide what to drive, have access to cheap energy, and stop tying to indoctrinate and raise my kids. Dam it, you libs are going to be shocked how pissed we are going to be come Nov.

So why does the left ignore this question, answer up dudes!

So, is Obama now responsible for the economy DR left? In your minds does he know own it?

Or with any future signs of slippage, will you disavow any responsibility and blame GW again?????

Has he claimed he is Caesar yet? Wait for it!

"In the coming election, the greatest advantage that we (the majority) will have to actually win the future IS Barack Obama. Because in the end, there is a big difference between God and Obama: God doesn't want to be Obama"

If this country is unfortunate to suffer another term (and the cheating and blood bath is sure to start) this country will see tripled electric bills and gasoline over $10 a gallon. How do I know this? Because he told us that that is what he wants. And King Obama doesn't like it when he doesn't get his way.

That doddering old fool probably would have bombed Iran 3 times by now, if only because he kept forgetting the previous bombing.

What are the food stamp numbers? If those have gone down, I'll accept these numbers as actually meaning something.

It's hilarious to watch the partisan zealots spin this one way or another. The concept that lower taxes increase employment has no basis in fact. As a business owner, my hiring decisions are based on the need for more employees to meet customer demand. We've grown 20% per year over the last few years and we continue to hire to meet customer demand. Any employment, seasonal, government, part-time, is good because that puts more money into the economy, which increases demand, which increases hiring. When unemployment goes up, demand goes down which increases unemployment. Then raw numbers are not as important as the trend.

The one time tax rates factor into expansion decisions involves R & D. With low tax rates, I pay for more of the R & D out of my pocket. At lower tax rates, there is a temptation to pocket the cash. We really don't focus on that because we make more money by growing so that's the focus.

So Mr Big Business owner, just screw the hard working people, and STEAL their earnings to pay for programs beyond those intended by our founders. We I hope they realize that this legalized theft will not stand. People like myself will hide, or move our wealth to a place where Uncle LeSean (replacement for uncle sam) can't touch it. So keep screwing successful people and it's the poor, uneducated morons that will pay the price.

Trust these numbers, and you're the fool.

Note the date on the below post.

Danforth, here are the...real... numbers for the unemployed in America.

articles.moneycentral.msn.com

Using the above link for the 16% of Americans out of work.

There are Appx 311,800,000 Americans.

Of that number 194,756,785 are between 18 and 64 (U.S.Census 2010) almost 2/3.

With the real unemployment rate at 16% than means 31,161,085 Americans are unemployed. (17,528,110 if you use the Obama/Dem number ..not real)

31,161,085 - 206,000 = 30,955,085 Americans are still out of work.(Real number)

17,528,110 - 206,000 = 17,322,110 Americans are still out of work. (Obama/Dem not real number)

Also real is a large percentage of those 206,000 people will be out of work again in 24 days (Dec 24).

Today there were large gains in the market, it will be gone in 15 days at the very most as people take profit.

Plus the market jumped at all the free money that was just given out by the Euro-Govt.
Free to the market but not to us and the people of Europe.

Its Not better, its not getting better, nor will it with Obama and his Crew in office.

They just have no idea what to do...because they have never had to do anything...it was always just handed to them for most of their lives.

And now that their getting their ass handed to them, its everybody and everything else's fault but O'Baby's and his Crew......please.

It's not the government's job to create jobs, it's supposed to get the fuck out of the way so private industries can do it.

#28 | Posted by curisemssl

Ya, well there are decades of proof tax incentives create jobs, not tax cuts.

Did miss the entire 2003-2012 when tax cuts have been tried and failed to create jobs? Yep.

"Its Not better"

You mentioned the markets, and you mentioned employment, and both are measurably "better" than when Obama inherited the Bush Shit Sandwich.

Which begs the question: do you understand the definition of the word "better"...?

"numbers for the unemployed in America."

No sentient being believes that you or the wingnuts care about the unemployed in America.

Your opinion is based on one, single idea:

You form your opinion around your hatred for the President of the United States.

That sentence, in 14 words, does what I can't seem to do in 5,000+.

That's what it boils down to.

Did miss the entire 2003-2012 when tax cuts have been tried and failed to create jobs? Yep.

Knowing of course there has been no tax cut since 2003, it is hard to miss something that doesn't exist. But then again, this was posted upthread and pretty much describes the mental shortcomings of a liberal...

"A liberal is clueless by definition. They're cherry picking without looking at the long term trends."

Go ahead republicans vote for your magic religious underwearer its all you got...

No plan no idea no hope why its the GOP pick of the week!

I posted my suspicion weeks ago that exactly what you are saying is the Rove's secret plan. If they can prevent any of the current candidates from achieving a majority of delegates before teh convention then anything is possible so watch as the lead in this race goes back and forth so that none of them will have enough delegates sewn up for the nomination.

at last..PROOF beyound a shadow of a doubt...you are completely nuts bringing this ancient history up.

(well played though...just dont tell anyone I said that)

McCain says Obama will turn this country around, he has faith in Obama

Does Obama now 'Own' the economy???

Why won't the dr left answer? What's the matter U???

Knowing of course there has been no tax cut since 2003, it is hard to miss something that doesn't exist.

CRISPEE

You don't realize those tax cuts are still in effect? Good lord!

You had a huge 'swing and a miss' with that one.

"I know you did...you're a regular 'emma peel'... :)"

Works for me.

At this time during Reagan's first term--the jobs increased 1.2 million in ONE month.

Obama's policies are killing us.

And the UE rate is deceptive at 8.5%. Actually a bold face lie.

Glad to see 200,000 people got a job.

Hope they have it by the end of January and not just seasonal.

"Knowing of course there has been no tax cut since 2003"

That's an interesting thing to know, since we had the Making Work Pay tax cut in 2009 and 2010, and the 2-point payroll tax cut of 2011 and its 2-month extension.
