Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

A suburban Chicago police officer used a $132 speeding ticket he issued to track down a woman and ask her for a date, saying the least he could do for costing her so much money was to buy her dinner, a lawsuit filed by the woman alleges. Evangelina Paredes claims Stickney cop Chris Collins left this note on her windshield: "It's Chris ... that ugly bald Stickney cop who gave you that ticket. I know this may seem crazy and you're probably right, but truth is I have not stopped thinking about you since. I don't expect a girl as attractive as you to ... even go for a guy like me, but I'm taking a shot anyways."

So a blow job is out of the question then?

Oh look i can get some money. Judges should be allowed to sentence people like this to a good swift kick in the ass, her lawyer too.

AHHH Chicago

#1 more likely that's how she really survived the assault.

Where women cant own guns, criminals do.

Stickney aint Chicago, asshouse/chickenrancher. Dont they have google maps where you slither?

Anybody who doesnt get that the cop is way off base is hopeless.

I agree to the extent that she's probably grossly overstating things to make a paycheck.

But what the cop did is fucked up and he shouldn't be a cop for it IMO.

Yeah in a 1950's kinda way...

I knew of one such case that was even worse. Cop sees hot chick sitting in car at a redlight and runs her tag as she drives away. Later he looks up her name in the phone book, calls and leave a message identifying himself as a cop and asking her for a date. Unfortunately for the cop, she was a lawyer. He lost his job as quickly as the police department could process the paperwork. Super dumb!

Anybody who doesnt get that the cop is way off base is hopeless.

Ahh come on, he's a cop he did what comes natural to cops. He did some detective work to track down someone who was criminally hot. He planned on detaining her for the duration of dinner.

But in all honesty, to give this guy the benefit of a doubt. He probably thought it would impress her and she would think it was romantic.

I wonder how many cops do this but never make themselves known to their person of interest.

Strange. Very strange.

But hey, it just goes to show ya, if you're going to leave a note on a chicks car it should say something like "Im watching you!", or "Sleep with one eye open", and not some friendly question.

How about: "See you at your place -- 3 a.m.," "When you shower tonight - I'll be there," or "Don't forget to check the back seat"?

How about that cops should always get into trouble when they use police resources to track down anyone outside of real police investigations. There should be a "zero tollerance" for this kind of stuff even if the idiot cop intended no harm, the fact is he abused his powers as a police officer for personal reasons.
I don't think he should necessarily be fired but reprimanded yes.

Anybody who doesnt get that the cop is way off base is hopeless.

The cop IS way off base, and for it should be disciplined, heavily.

She does not, however, deserve a cent.

Funny but when this same thing happened to Joe the Plumber, weren't the faux progressives here cheering?

I don't remember. Did cops stalk and proposition Wurzelbacher?

if this is all he did there really shouldn't be any repercussions.

he asked her out. if he accepts when she says no, then what is the problem?

Yeah in a Cara Knott and Craig Peyer sort of way?

I don't remember. Did cops stalk and proposition Wurzelbacher?

#22 | Posted by Hagbard_Celine

No but the social services offices used their computer to then leak the information about his hard times.

That person was fired as well.

"

he asked her out. if he accepts when she says no, then what is the problem?"

Oh, so cops should be able to use all police resources for their own private purposes (which they do anyway)?
Bull shit.

it is creepy and shouldn't be repeated, but i don't think it merits a lawsuit.

at most a suspension, but for a harmless stunt like this, i would think a warning.

if it was a bank teller who got an address and left a not on a car asking this girl out, do you think he should be sued?

It's only stalking because she doesn't want to fuck him.

the cop was out of line for using resources to get her address. but, on the other hand, you can get an address by many other means. i can find almost anyone, anywhere without too much trouble. his note was inoffensive and she appears to have overreacted. a second note like: "i read your little lawsuit, and am surprised that you've rejected me. i am a cop, after all, carry a gun and know where you live" -- now that would be worth a lawsuit and his badge. it's hard to get too worked up about what he did. reprimand - yes; his job - no...

It's only stalking because she doesn't want to fuck him.
#28 | Posted by JOE

How does she know that he, already demonstrating a willingness to use his authority and position to break the rules to get her address, would take no for an answer?

Hey. Some women are into cops. DUMB WOMEN.

Anyone who signs up to be a cop in the drug war era is signing up to ruin the lives of peaceful people, collect revenue for their city via sneaky tickets, and evict families from their homes because of wall street's crimes.

90 percent of them are just littledick losers who need to carry guns to be feared and feel good about themselves. Modern american cops deserve no respect.

No pic of the woman? How the hell am I supposed to judge this guy without pics to make a superficial determination of 'rightness', Koase stylee?!?!?!

"Anyone who signs up to be a cop in the drug war era is signing up to ruin the lives of peaceful people, collect revenue for their city via sneaky tickets, and evict families from their homes because of wall street's crimes."

This ought to give the phony "limited government" conservatives a hard on.

Is no one else as creeped out by this as me???

Especially coming from someone who admits that he likes to get so high that he passes out and wakes up the next day still high?

Yikes.

Nulli,

Color them with camo and you could swear they are in a war zone. How sad and pathetic is a society where the police are nothing more than militarized units of thugs, kidnapping and caging folks that have hurt no one and damaged no ones property...

Funny thing out of the Paul campaign, they said that if he wins he may have to spend the entire first year pardoning anyone in prison on petty pot charges...

have you never passed out high and woke up still high? it is common with alcohol and little sleep. (not a hangover, but residual drunk)

I think you're missing my point (which is strange given how straightforward it is). The fact that she would say "no" is what makes her creeped out by his behavior. If she liked the guy when he pulled her over, she would probably find his perseverance "charming."

That was directed at Hagbard.

I have never passed out from weed, but you are missing the point, which is the stalker admission.

I have had dental plates run to stalk women.

ftfy.

sad Rob the asshole ran away from the DR, he would have been all over this cop, but in a queerly positive way.

Yeah and I'm sure the fat ugly bald cop never hit on a chick he gave a ticket to like this before. This woman is just the first to speak up about it. Sleazeball. Fuck him he needs to be fired.

It's only stalking because she doesn't want to fuck him. -- #28 | Posted by JOE

?! He's abusing public resources, public authority, etc., whether she likes it or not.

It's only rape because she doesn't want to fuck him. -- #28 | Posted by JOE

FTFY.

"I have never passed out from weed, but you are missing the point, which is the stalker admission."

what does weed have to do with stalker-ism. i admit i followed your tangent, but that does not change the fact that you brought it up.

He didn't have to stalk her ,he had her name and address. At least he didn't knock on her door a 3am. All she had to do is throw away the note. A 2nd attempt to contact her ,that's stalking.

As much as cops work ,where else do the meet women except on the job.and most of them are shoplifters or crack ho's and street walkers.

Bad, bad cop.
He abused his position of authority
and he should be fired and never be
allowed to work as a cop again.

He can always work as a mall security guard.

Once he's fired the woman should no longer
have a claim for remedy.

she would probably find his perseverance "charming."

ding ding ding... winner...

Give me a break. He had all her info right in front of him when he gave her the ticket. No look up needed.

He didn't even stalk her. He did leave a note. A complaint would probably have been enough. If it went beyond that there sure would be in need of some discipline, a lawsuit and protective orders.

FYI - plenty o' cops do this kind of thing. They just don't get sued.

I don't remember. Did cops stalk and proposition Wurzelbacher?

If you call that "stalking" then you might need to read a book sometime in your life. What was done to Joe was a LOT worse than "Hey, would you like to have dinner sometime?" and people like Danni believe he deserved it for daring to question Obama.

It's only rape because she doesn't want to fuck him.

That's also correct. Or were you not aware of the definition of rape?

Even more so if she's somebody's wife, eh?

#51 | Posted by JOE

Your earlier comment seemed to imply that there was really nothing wrong with what he did. Did I misread you?

Give me a break. He had all her info right in front of him when he gave her the ticket.

Gov't agencies, credit card co's, etc., have all sorts of personal information on file. Employees have no right to use them for personal benefit. I can tell you from working as a data analyst for a federal agency that what he did is prohibited behavior that should get him fired.

He didn't even stalk her. He did leave a note.

Mailing a letter would be bad enough. Physically tracking down her car and leaving a note on the windshield is creepy as hell.

FYI - plenty o' cops do this kind of thing. -- #49 | Posted by GalaxiePete

If true, it's a bigger suit -- means Chicago could be held liable.

Some people here are always apologizing for men with guns. Odd.

I am the last person that would defend a cop in just about any manner.
But what im about to post might speak volumes about me. I'll let you decide.

The cop seems to have known that asking her out before writing the ticket would certainly of been out of line. "We can make this ticket disappear if you have dinner with me." So he wrote the ticket and let her go on her way. She was probably a bit peeved after been written a ticket.
So our prince charming here (being dumb struck with love at first sight) decided to wait till things cooled down to look her up and write her a note.

Now I get that there are many things wrong with what our hero did. But for fuck sake guys cut the big lug some slack. He just wants some stanky on the hang down.

#53, i didnt mean to suggest that. Only saying that his behavior probably wouldnt have been perceived by the woman to be wrong or creepy if she was single and found him attractive.
