Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Monday, January 02, 2012

Robert Reich, the economist who served as President Clinton's Secretary of Labor, expects President Obama to change his ticket during the coming campaign: "My political prediction for 2012 (based on absolutely no inside information): Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden swap places. Biden becomes Secretary of State -- a position he's apparently coveted for years. And Hillary Clinton, Vice President."

Can you imagine a Obama-Clinton ticket versus say a Romney-Gingrich one?

The debates!

OMFG! Can you imagine the freakin' debates?

There is simply not enough popcorn in all of Iowa to go with THAT action.

Hillary would totally make Gingrich lose his shit with her wealth of dirt on the human sleazeball and Obama would skullfark Romney into well deserved, shame-filled obscurity.

Seriously, Obama would skullfark Romney so hard that it would make the shade of Henry Clay wince in sympathy somewhere off in the ether.

Willard has taken what modern physicists have taken to calling "the political quantum super-position" wherein he is simultaneously on every side of every position and on none of them. All the credit for being right and none of the blame for being wrong and as a bonus he can actually look in Heidegger's box and observe the cat's state without collapsing the wave function.

So he's got that going for him.

Why I voted Democrat"

"1. I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits
of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.

2. I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do
a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

3. I voted Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine as long
as nobody is offended by it.

4. I voted Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own
a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect
me from murderers and thieves.

5. I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can't
tell us if it will rain on Friday, can tell us that the polar ice caps
will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.

6. I voted Democrat because I'm not concerned about millions
of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row
inmates alive.

7. I voted Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right
to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits.

8. I voted Democrat because I believe that business should not
be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break
even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution
as the Democrats see fit.

9. I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to
rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe
kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.

10. I voted Democrat because I think that it's better to pay
billions to people who hate us for their oil, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle or gopher.

11. I voted Democrat because while we live in the greatest, most
wonderful country in the world, I was promised "HOPE AND CHANGE".

12. I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up
my ass, it's unlikely that I'll ever have another point of view."

What's interesting is that Mitt doesn't seem to mind when he's caught out on this.

Mitt thinks that people like KBM will be obliged to vote for him eventually, no matter what a souless, double-talking, and insincere wonder he is.

Mitt may well be right.

Ah, Newt said today that Mitt is attempting to buy the election. I'm pretty sure not even KBM would argue that if Mitt can do that, he will.

If Romney wins, my prime consolation is that they will have to remove all sharp-edged instruments from teh reach of Erik Erikson.

If Romney wins, my secondary consolation is that Erikson will have to restrin his gag reflex each and every time the phrase "President Romney" is mentioned.

I expect suicide rates to go up in Red States generally after next November's presidential election. I predict that they will go if, but also if not, the Republican nominee wins.

Clinton is smarter than that. She will not want her name associated directly with this car wreck of a presidency. Around June she will resign and write several books and make a ton of money. Robert Reich hasn't been right about anything in years. He will also retire and write a book on why Keynesian economics were not to be blames for the failings of the Obama administration, but as with all his books no one will buy them.

In re: #6 | Posted by KBM at 2012-01-01 07:04 PM

Why KBM voted Republican:

1) I voted Republican because I believe corporations that earn $14 billion in profits should pay no taxes, but a family of four that earns $20,000 should pay more taxes.

2) I voted Republican because I believe the most important use for taxpayer money is stopping gays from getting married or joining the military.

3) I voted Republican because I believe that Freedom of Speech is only for people who agree with me.

4) I voted Republican because I believe the best way for the police to protect us is to pepper-spray peaceful protesters.

5) I voted Republican because I believe that people who think the Earth is 6,500 years old and was created by a magical man in the sky are best equipped to lead us in a high-tech world.

6) I voted Republican because I believe protecting embryos is more important than caring about children.

7) I voted Republican because I believe the best solution to our complex economic problems is building a 2,000-mile long wooden fence.

8) I voted Republican because I believe corporations should have more rights than citizens.

9) I voted Republican because I believe that "freedom of religion" means "the Constitution only applies to Christians."

10) I voted Republican because I believe God will magically solve all the world's environmental problems.

11) I voted Republican because I believe that we can make America strong again by repeating all the failed programs of the past.

12) I voted Republican because I believe that facts are a tool of the devil.

REMEMBER: Vote Republican. It's easier than thinking.

It's true. Money is gross. over 90% of bills have some trace of cocaine on them or some such ridiculous stat.

Heard the other day that apparently baby changing trays in public washrooms in the UK also tested about 90% positive for cocaine traces.

A study by journalists in the UK found that 92 out of 100 public baby changing tables in the UK have trace amounts of cocaine on them.

I would prefer this as the clinton name should be intertwined with the man/administration which is bringing the country down like the Titanic.

This would be an absolutely devastating combination. It would be even better if we could make Hillary! the Secretary of the Treasury. We could give her a billion dollars to invest, and by the end of the first year she would have turned that in to twenty octillion dollars. Maybe even enough to pay for all of O's spending.

GobamaClinton! That's sure a lot of Affirmative Action on one ticket. Just think. We would never have to put a black or a woman on a ticket again out of guilt. We could make it about merit and experience next time. GoO! GoH!

Think?

Yes, let's do that.

You seem to think (or at least your post strongly implies) that Obama and Clinton would only be on a ticket because they are respectively a black man and a woman. Not because they have proven abilities and track records and smarts to bring to the table but purely "Affirmative Action" hires.

And then when folks like Spud point out that that type of talk is exactly the kind of thing that makes people think of the GOP as a sexist/racist party full of bigots you end up getting all butt-hurt and bitch that Spud is the Real Racist(TM) here who's unfairly playing the race card against poor old misunderstood (it was satire, honest!) you.

I partially agree with points 1 and 7 but the rest of your emotional outpouring is just silly. Surely you can come up with at least a few accurate disagreements, can't you?

I agree that 0bama-Clinton would give the Dems at least some chance in a two party election in 2012 but, I also agree that Clinton would neither settle for second fiddle nor risk being too closely linked to an 0bama 2nd term. My feeling is that Hillary would have a much better chance at the top slot in 2016 if she can claim independence from the policy outcomes that will take us to what will be left of America should a 3rd party candidate enable the possibility of an 0bama 2nd term. If no 3rd party candidate is presented, Hillary can take point on the mission to disrupt the incoming GOP administration and present herself as the savior option in 2016.

"Surely you can come up with at least a few accurate disagreements, can't you?"

Context is very important: The 11 points in my 2012-01-01 @ 08:28 PM postage were a direct retort to the 11 points in kbm's 11 points in his 2012-01-01 @ 07:04 PM postage.

(Which was directly referenced at the beginning of my 2012-01-01 @ 08:28 PM postage.)

Your inability to understand context, as indicated by your emotional outpouring, is just silly.

I'm expecting Clinton to replace Biden as well. It would energize the Democratic base and give Clinton's supporters a chance to start thinking about her running in 2016.

Whether or not it happens, it would be an extremely smart move. She still has legions of fans from her unsuccessful 2008 run.

#36 | Posted by Hans

Really?
Wow.

"Really?
"Wow."

You're welcome.

"Whether or not it happens, it would be an extremely smart move. She still has legions of fans from her unsuccessful 2008 run."

Agreed.

Of course, it would also energize "NO" voters. But then, I don't expect anyone planning to vote for Obama would be turned OFF by Hillary being on the ticket. I'm not even sure it would kill independent votes. I would think that those sitting the fence would see Clinton as a tempering influence (which is a bit odd, but I think it's true).

Whether or not it happens, it would be an extremely smart move. She still has legions of fans from her unsuccessful 2008 run.

That's true. There are literally tens of millions of Democrats who had a perplexing problem back in 2008: do we feel good about ourselves by voting for the woman who slept with a popular Democratic president? A couple of times, anyway?

Or do we assuage decades of white guilt and vote for the black guy?

How come nobody is suggesting they just put Hillary at the top, Barack on the bottom, so to speak, and let O run for the presidency again in 2020? After all, we're way past expecting the Democrats to run anybody who has any kind of success as an executive. And we're way past any suggestion that the BidenGaffometer, which is embarrassing enough to watch as a mere VP, wouldn't cause some problems when he takes it international. Hillary needs a promotion! We owe her!

You really think Hillary has done nothing good?

And "as an executive"? What do you mean by that? You want a business manager? Or you want some politician who has run a state or a major city?

Someone with experience and success as an executive. Has a payroll to meet. A budget to set and to not violate. Until 0 came along, JFK was the first president in forever who went from the legislative branch to the presidency. There's a reason Americans like to pick governors.

I know, I know. Obama and Clinton were, respectively, a black and a woman. So none of the usual rules apply. Who gives the better speech? Who makes us feel better and bigger about ourselves, for being so open-minded that we ignored the resume, and went with the picture on the campaign poster? That's what we like these days. Libbies anyway.

One of the most attractive things about Hillary is the dignity she displayed when Bill was caught out.

We could use some of that in Washington these days.

43--You were doing great till you got to the second paragraph.

I still don't think that only governors can make good presidents, as you seem to imply, but you answered what I was asking. You want a manager. Of course, it would be good to have a manager with vision. (And you do know that President Bush was a deficit spender, right?)

>One of the most attractive things about Hillary is the dignity she displayed when Bill was caught out.

that's one perspective...wrong of, course.

she was just playing you like a warm, little fiddle knowing exactly how you would perceive her if she let her real bitch out.

and if you're wondering what that might be like, ask any of her handlers.

When Billy was caught out? She was the one responsible for managing the bimbo eruptions since he was Arkansas Attorney General. And remember Bill's pick up line when one of his prospective nymphets got cold feet because he was married: "Hillary? She eats more pussy than I do!"

I partially agree with points 1 and 7 but the rest of your emotional outpouring is just silly. Surely you can come up with at least a few accurate disagreements, can't you?

Everyone of those points addresses Republican beliefs on some level. Is it over-simplified? Absolutely.

I agree that 0bama-Clinton

But as expected, it's hard for someone partisan enough to replace O with 0 to see even the slightest bit of absurdity in such a list.

After all, we're way past expecting the Democrats to run anybody who has any kind of success as an executive.

LOL

I love how the whole "executive" shit is constantly trotted out by the very same people who supported Palin.

Evidently when they say success they really mean "can in some way be called an executive."

for being so open-minded that we ignored the resume, and went with the picture on the campaign poster?

Same thing here.

RiR is more accurately describing himself and the right.

any kind of success as an executive.

Bush/Cheney was arguably the administration with the most executive experience in recent times and they are also arguably the worst administration in modern memory.

Funny thing for Spud is how some GOPhers haven't got the memo and are still using their broken-crayon sound bytes on various political blogsites this time around from last time around complaining about Obama's inexperience somehow forgetting that this is a sitting incumbent POTUS running against a group of morons who not only are totally inexperienced at the job but who all have a collective IQ in the double digits.

GL w/ THAT.

Be Well.

Bush/Cheney was arguably the administration with the most executive experience in recent times and they are also arguably the worst administration in modern memory.

* * *

Maybe. After all, their deficits only averaged $180 billion. It took arguably the Best Administration In Modern Memory to make it 8 times that. Recovery Summer!

You're really a dumb POS Deth.

"she was just playing you like a warm, little fiddle knowing exactly how you would perceive her if she let her real bitch out."

I said the dignity she displayed. If she pulled an AK-47 on Bill in private, we never knew it. She did not go on Oprah and weep and wail, she did not publish a book about the subject, she did not and does not refer to l'affair Lewinsky at all. As it should be.

Her private reaction is none of my business. The fact that she conducted herself like a First Lady - with the accent on the "lady" part - is what concerns me.

Seriously, Obama would skullfark Romney so hard that it would make the shade of Henry Clay wince in sympathy somewhere off in the ether.

Huntsman and Obama are both centrists, might be a boring debate, hehe.

I wish that somehow Gary Johnson picked up all the libertarian support Paul has. Paul is head and shoulders above Gingrich, Romney, and Santorum but he has just enough crazy in his positions to make me uncomfortable giving him my full support. A debate between Johnson and Obama would be the ideal scenario imo.

Exactly. To see Obama outflanked on the left on big issues like the National Security state, Pentagon spending, foreign adventures, corporate welfare, etc., would be a treat.

I don't know anything about Johnson, except that LoD and Nulli like him. : ) That's enough to make him sort of interesting, though.

And yes, Huntsman and Obama are both centrists. Interesting to see a right-leaner like yourself say that "out loud." But their ideas are different enough--one being centrist conservative, the other centrist liberal--and both are quite smart. (Cue the Obama critics shouting that he's not smart.) I also think Huntsman might be--shit I'm actually gonna say this--less divisive. (Polarizing is probably a better word. Many rwers think Obama is divisive; I think it's more about reaction than action.)

Sometimes Robert Reich and I don't see eye-to-eye.
