Paunchypossum is pretty "righton" with his predictions but they need a little alteration.
Romney will get the repub nomination and defeat Obama in a close race (unless a third party candidate enters the race). I base that on a couple of predictions. If the European banks crash (Paunchy's prediction), Obama is total toast since we'll crash with them. However,Europe will be problematic for the globe in 2012 in the first half of the year (the banks won't crash) and the dollar will continue its ascent and the Euro will move lower. The Dow Jones will plummet to 10000-10500 in the first half of the year and then when Europe (along with the assistance of the Fed) decides to totally print money for support, the markets will recover the second half of the year and end up about 10% lower then the beginning of the year (Dow--11,400). The dollar will start to break lower at the end of the first quarter to first half and this'll start the last leg of the bull market for gold (which will have fallen to about 1300-1400 in the first half of the year) that will last the next 4-5 years and carry gold to a MINIMUM price of $4000.00/ounce. GDP will grow no greater then 2% for the year. Unemployment will stay the same or once again trend mildly upward.

Actually, the timeline *was* extended an extra two or three months but any further extensions as Spud has pointed out repeatedly were made unfeasible by the Iraqi government voting to make troops staying past the deadline prosecutable by Iraqi law.
