The dispute comes months after the state Legislature passed a biennial budget this summer that included language designed to strip Planned Parenthood of access to public dollars.

State law already prohibits the use of state and federal funds to cover abortions, except in cases of rape or incest, or if the life or long-term health of the mother is at risk.

That's based on the assumption that no new services can or will be introduced in those counties. PP was the only one currently equipped to do so. Believe it or not, cancer screening services can be introduced to new locations by companies, especially when they get state funds to do so.

But given the article didn't discuss that I didn't feel it pertinent to introduce.

Although as long as it's been brought up, the contract was only for $130,000 so there's going to have to be a much larger investment for a company to import those capabilities.

Well, I would point out this Republican Governor -- by deciding just which organizations will and will not receive a state contract -- allows himself the option of cherrypicking which organizations would receive funds and be able to continue their work.

The Governor hates Planned Parenthood and their stance on abortion (due to his religious, poilitical, and conservative leanings) so by lessening the funds they receive -- regarding any health aspect -- is his way of hoping to eventually put them out of business entirely.

Any low-income woman in the Wisconsin counties of Outagamie, Winnebago, Fond du Lac and Sheboygan -- who later die of breast and/or cervical cancer after January 1st because there was no available services to screen for early detection -- will be blood on his hands.
