Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Amy Koch, a Republican and the first female Senate Minority Leader in Minnesota history, abruptly resigned her leadership post Thursday over allegations of a relationship with a male subordinate. Sen. Geoff Michel (R), the acting majority leader, said the allegations came in the last several weeks from employees who identified the staffer as someone under Koch's supervision. "We do not want the Minnesota Senate to have that kind of work environment for our employees. And so that's why we felt we had to act," Michel said.

eeeeewwwwwwww.....

The whole thing, even her hairdo, is very Palin-esque.

At least they have the decency to resign immediately rather than, you know- LIE under oath, or to their voters, or to the media, or blame others of lying, like some certain Dems presidents/senators/
representatives.

Senator Koch?

Please say "no relation".

Quick to the googlemobile!

Hmmm, nothing definitive on that point but this stuff has already hit her wiki page.

Later in the day local news media reported that four Republican state senators indicated Koch had an "inappropriate" relationship with a male staffer. On that same day, it was announced that Koch's communications director, Michael Brodkorb, is no longer employed by the Senate GOP caucus

Damn, those guys is quick.

At this point it's a toss up who has better family values.

The modern GOP or Charles Manson.

A real toughie that one.

Also anyone catch the pic in that article?

Be Well.

Instead of a lame duck leader she's just fucking lame.

Seems both parties have been trying to cleanse themselves of the riff raff. Over the last several decades people running for political office and such have been carrying the attitude that their title empowers them to do as they please. Now if we could only concentrate on the crooks and the kooks.

Maybe it's asking too much but I always thought that politicians at all levels need to hold themselves to a higher standard. It's become painfully aware that they haven't. They've just done a good job of hiding their transgressions.

I don't know how good this person was at her job but she had to realize prior to having an affair that engaging in one would only end up embarrassing her, her family, the 'other' person involved, and ultimately result in her political demise.

I'm glad she resigned, I'm glad she didn't pull an Weiner, (well she did but you know what I mean), and I glad she wasted no time or money bowing out as gracefully as possible.

At this point it's a toss up who has better family values.

Of course there's no doubt whatsoever that the Liberal Party has absolutely no family values so I can see why someone such as yourself has a problem where Manson fits into this. After all even that twisted fuck put himself above family. Unlike Antony Weiner. Of course neither Manson nor Koch lied about their separate issues unlike Weiner as well.

But what does one expect from an androgynous Canadian that thinks gender should be banned.

Should make Christmas dinner interesting.

There is no doubt about it.....that fucking one's married (to someone else) subordinate, and conversely fucking one's married (also to someone else)boss always represent good wholesome Republican family values.

And it would be just peachy keen if it was a democrat Robson?

It's bad on both sides.

Good to see she resigned right away.

It's bad on both sides.

but especially on your side--yuck

She's not my senator but she is married
and has a kid. No class. Lacking in fidelity.
Pretty crappy example of a "leader".

Other than a serial adulterer I think it's a mistake to think our politicians (of any party) have to be perfect saints

If she has not campaigned on "family Values" or been against how anyone else wants to define Marriage then this really is no ones business except hers, the husband and the guy she had the affair with.

Of course there's no doubt whatsoever that the Liberal Party has absolutely no family values

And lets remember the democrats are the only ones who have been verified to have had an affair while in the office of the president..

Punitive Articles of the UCMJ, Article 134

Stop Hatin' Hans. :)

I don't care what her party affiliation is, this is an honest act of contrition.

And a rare example of true leadership and self reproach by a politician.

The big difference here is that the GOP constantly touts their values as though they have values....Americans hate hypocrites.

Exactly right. And this politician just showed us all the value of contrition.

Not all family values are necessarily self-promoting. Many take self sacrifice.

The lady made a mistake, but her actions prove she is no hypocrite. That sir, is totally unfair and dishonest.

There are way too many Kochs and Weiners in politics....

"Stop Hatin' Hans. :)"

No hate, Boaz. Just friendly advice. :)

"this really is no ones business except hers, the husband and the guy she had the affair with."

Perhaps. But if someone lies to their husband
with whom they are intimate it may be really
easy to lie to their constituents with whom
they're not.

Good to see she resigned right away.

Let's stay focused on the positive

Bingo! We are finding that character does matter; why else is this country in the problems it is? As long as we have the obtuse that believe character doesn't matter and it's that they do "a good job", we'll continue to swim around in the cesspool of "mediocrity and corruption". Anyone with a modicum of common sense would be able to figure this out.

Another defender of the "sanctity of marriage" taken down because they don't respect the sanctity of their own.

#6 - "she had to realize prior to having an affair that engaging in one would only end up...in her political demise."

She's just following the Gingrich model. She'll be running for Governor in a few years.

The big difference here is that the GOP constantly touts their values as though they have values....Americans hate hypocrites.

Whereas the Democrat Party constantly touts their lack of values...wait that didn't sound right.

Whereas the Democrat Party constantly touts their lack of values...no I guess that was right after all.

Whereas the Democrat Party constantly touts their lack of values by committing the same kind of acts they also lie to their family, their party, and their constituents about it then tell everyone,"At least I'm not in the Party that claims Family Values"...Amricans hate lairs.

Exactly! REAL Republicans, unlike this RINO, charter plans on tax payer to go cheat on their spouse. Or they tap their feet at the airport. Or they hire male prostitutes. This chick just banged a guy from her office. How lame.

I don't care what her party affiliation is, this is an honest act of contrition.
And a rare example of true leadership and self reproach by a politician.

Actually, the GOP leadership threatened her. Resignation was her only option. They play hard ball in the Minnesota GOP. They actually through out a Republican who ran independent after losing the primary and won the general election for office. They literally had her escorted from the state convention. You don't buck the Republican party in Minnesota period.

The DFL (Dems in MN) on the other hand are complete loose cannons and the party structure is chaos with no one really in charge.

VP candidate for Gingrich if he's the nominee.

Birds of a feather ...

LIE under oath, or to their voters, or to the media, or blame others of lying, like some certain Dems presidents/senators/

Lie or to their voters, or to the media, or blame others of lying or just staying and staying like most Republican Presidential nominees/ Speakers/Senators/Governors in the Party Of family Values?

And lets remember the democrats are the only ones who have been verified to have had an affair while in the office of the president.."

Wasn't Ike still banging the woman who had been his military chauffeur, or had he moved on by then?

The MN GOPpers seem so organized:

"The Koch news was only the biggest in a difficult period for Minnesota Republicans. The party's chairman, deputy chairman and executive director all departed in recent weeks, and the party is more than a half-million dollars in debt.

A businessman who had been seen as the favorite to run the party, Brandon Sawalich, dropped out of that race Friday after news broke of his citation for expired car registration and the settlement of a sexual harassment lawsuit nearly a decade ago. And The Associated Press reported separately on U.S. Senate candidate Joe Arwood's 2005 conviction for bringing a loaded handgun to the airport without a permit.

Activists expressed despair with each new dose of news. One, St. Paul lawyer John Gilmore, vented on Twitter: "Will this day never end?"

"There are way too many Kochs and Weiners in politics...."

Koch is a woman. She has no weiner.
