The school superintendent in Hart County, Ky., is claiming that a new test the state's high school students will take next spring treats evolution as fact, not theory, and will require schools to teach that way. "Do we want our children to be taught these things as facts? Personally, I don't," Ricky D. Line said. "I don't think life on earth began as a one-celled organism. I don't think that all of us came from a common ancestor ... I don't think the Big Bang theory describes the explanation of the origin of the universe."

Line counters that "it's interesting that the great majority of scientists felt Pluto was a planet until a short time ago, and now they have totally changed that. There are scientists who don't believe that evolution happened."

Oh my.

According to the Koran, there was a bunch of sucky folk who became victim of God's wrath and were "de-evolved" into monkeys. Either they physically deformed into Planet of Apes or God classified them as "monkey" from that point on, like we classify LetusPray as "donkey"...

Now if something can be de-evolved, that means it has evolved in the first place.

Point is, this is one of the many places where the Koran supports the idea of evolution.

Religion is not anti-evolution at all.... unless it's Christianity and in America.

a bunch of sucky folk who became victim of God's wrath and were "de-evolved" into monkeys.

And they moved to Kentucky and now feed on KFC and throw poop at good folk.

"My argument is, do we want our children to be taught these things as facts? Personally, I don't," Line said. "I don't think life on earth began as a one-celled organism. I don't think that all of us came from a common ancestor ... I don't think the Big Bang theory describes the explanation of the origin of the universe."

wow, he hits all the strawmen, bullshit and ignorant misconceptions all in one statement.

I can't believe this shit stain is a superintendent.

And he compares the recategorization of Pluto with denying evolution.

My state's been getting some great press lately.

"I asked why, and they said that a large percentage of the test is on genetics and evolution," he said.

Yeah, living in the modern world is a bitch. All this knowledge and stuff.

"I am concerned with the current standards of some of these states," he said in a message to state board members. "I do not believe that our Commonwealth's parents would be in agreement with the teachings from some of these states."

Probably because many of them are probably, like Mr. Ricky D. Line, superstitious, ignorant dumbshits that want to spread their superstitious ignorance via their children.

"My argument is, do we want our children to be taught these things as facts

Can't tell if this is a total or just partial contradiction.

Don't teach evolution as if its a fact, and then defend it by adding that its only because they can't teach about god, which isn't anywhere near a fact..which contradicts his argument that we shouldn't teach kids something as a fact if it's not in fact, a fact, which creationism isn't, it's a belief.

No wonder kids have given up on education, people have, time and time again, proven that you can be an imbecile and still get a decent job.

"Go Away, I'm 'Baitin".

......Religion is the answer that ignorance gives to questions of science.......

......the Koran is full of shit......has caused nothing but misery because ignoramuses like you, actually believe the ignorant superstitions that it babbles about........

.......grow up......

Mention religion and the moron crawls out of the woodwork... LOL

Thing is...

My religion isn't giving me a problem at all and never has.

But it seems to be a problem for you, even when I mention it in an off-hand manner.

You do understand you are on thin ice, your status being changed to "visitor" once before, thanks to your anti-Semitic bigotry.... take a hint. LOL

Meanwhile, worry about your motherfucking Kentucky. LOL

I was taught evolution in biology AND history classes in my school in an Islamic country.

So I'm not the one with the problem here, hmmm?

has caused nothing but misery

Well, yeah, if you count this as "Islam making you miserable". LOL

.......there are big problems with your religion all around the world, that's what happens when unadaptable medieval ignorance comes in contact with the modern world......

........but don't despair, when the Muslim countries levels of education rise high enough, and the Muslims get better educated ( you don't seem to be there yet yourself ), the Muslim nations will reject being governed by this monstrous backwardness, just the way that Turkey has already rejected the principles of Islam.......

And the cockroach just lost it even further. LOL

The video always gets to him... never fails.

Never had Bacon?

Thank God for that!!!

there have been countless millions slaughtered in the name of Islam

Yeah. Your ass got "slaughtered" on YouTube. LOL

Higher than Kentucky?

As I said, I studied evolution, so I'm already higher than your stoopid Kentucky! LOL

But yeah, horrifying. Is this guy a scientist? I would have expected such a statement more from a board member than from a super.

Like you begged and cried to RCADE to let you back in and remove your "visitor"?

No... not even little girls do that. LOL

But it is.

I believe in evolution ... and Kentucky doesn't!

That is saying a lot.

At least, not that you're aware of.

If Islam was a problem for me, I would know.

I am not brain dead like many here. LOL

I don't think life on earth began as a one-celled organism. I don't think that all of us came from a common ancestor ... I don't think the Big Bang theory describes the explanation of the origin of the universe.

We entrust stupid cunts like this with the education of our children... and then we wonder why American kids end up performing poorly compared to the rest of the developed world.

so? according to the constitution of the united states of america..its his right to say and believe this and further more its the right of this LOCAL entity to teach whatever the hell they want....
IF you believe in the constitution as in the tenth amendment.....

Then this guy needs to find a different career track. "Education" is not for people who don't want evolution taught. Evolution is absolutely indisputable to anyone with a brain. You can talk about your personal deity being the mechanism by which it happens, but it certainly happens.

But yeah, horrifying.

Well I don't have kids yet so I haven't been exposed to school administrators ect.

This makes me look forward to it though!

You can talk about your personal deity being the mechanism by which it happens, but it certainly happens.

I agree so long as the conditions of a. not in school and b. certainly not in science class are added.

"I have a very difficult time believing that we have come to a point ... that we are teaching evolution ... as a factual occurrence, while totally omitting the creation story by a God who is bigger than all of us,"

Just what is this guy WANTING students to be taught?
Genesis?!?!? In a public school science class?

Of COURSE we need to omit that story from science class!
It doesn't remotely belong there!

If he's having such a difficult time with that, it's time for a career change.

Evolution is absolutely indisputable to anyone with a brain.

By that, almost half of the US is brainless.

"half of the US is brainless"

Optimist.

"This makes me look forward to it though!"

Oh, just wait. Actually, as parent I've not yet had to deal with admins. But I have one who's on my list--the principal at my older boy's school--she's a moron.

"If Islam was a problem for me, I would know."

Like I said, ignorance is bliss.

.

The vast majority of scientists contend that evolution is an accepted cornerstone of modern science, and that there is no real scientific debate over the concept.

Line counters that "it's interesting that the great majority of scientists felt Pluto was a planet until a short time ago, and now they have totally changed that. There are scientists who don't believe that evolution happened."

Holy mackerel! Mr. Line seems to be suggesting that the reclassification of Pluto calls that whole "solar system" thing into question.

But that's not how science works. It's very rare that a new discovery requires wholesale rejection of a scientific branch of inquiry. Usually you just have to go back a step or two and prune a bit. "Pluto was recategorized as a dwarf planet and plutoid due to the discovery that it is one of several large bodies within the newly charted Kuiper belt."

Pluto is still orbiting the sun. It''s still doing so because of gravity, and for that matter gravity still exists. Nothing has changed, other than our understanding of the cosmos.

Ignorance is bliss.

teachers can discuss theories of creation

As long as it's the Christian theory of Creation. He'd shit bricks if some teacher taught the hindu or Apache theories.

What is it that they put in the water south of the Mason Dixon Line that creates so many morons? Or is it just all the inbreeding?

Meanwhile, worry about your motherfucking Kentucky. LOL

Really? So have you got those indoor toilets working yet? You only "invented" them 5,000 or so years ago.

AS for Kentucky...We have always worried about them.. They might be 3 hours ahead of me here in California but it's like traveling 10-15 years back in time when I go visit them.

Yes, teachers can discuss theories of creation, just not in science class. Creationism isn't science; it's religion.

Well, as long as they include the well-known fact that a turtle is holding up the world, then ok.

According to the Koran, there was a bunch of sucky folk who became victim of God's wrath and were "de-evolved" into monkeys. Either they physically deformed into Planet of Apes or God classified them as "monkey" from that point on, like we classify LetusPray as "donkey"...

Didn't we have a thread recently about British Muslim students leaving biology class during evolutionary studies? Were they late for Mohammad Graven Image Burning 101?

Lib Darwinists are as close minded about their Evolutionary Faith than are some Creationists about theirs. We need a new Scopes monkey trial.

Unfortunately until proof is shown of either creationism or evolution being fact, both should be taught as theories, it is easier to believe creationism because it has no bounds and all is explained in one simple way, evolution on the other hand has so many things going against it, such a intermediate species between any of the the evolution transformation, until any scientist can explain how a platypus evolved from several species to become what it is today, im not sure if a multi species orgy took place or what, but this could just be the God of creationisms way of pissing off all atheists and scientists

"Unfortunately until proof is shown of either creationism or evolution being fact, both should be taught as theories"

There are years and years of classes available regarding evolution, with endless roads to explore, ponder, and research.

With creationism, I know what's taught on day one; what's taught on day two and beyond?

Wablo,

I know you're trying to sound all wise and balanced.

But you really just sound like an uninformed person masquerading as a wise, knowledgeable person.

They're not both theories. A statement that is wrong for several reasons.

evolution on the other hand has so many things going against it, such a intermediate species between any of the the evolution transformation

The beginning of this sentence indicates you're not at all familiar with evolution and the end doesn't make any sense.

until any scientist can explain how a platypus evolved from several species to become what it is today

"Unfortunately until proof is shown of either creationism or evolution being fact, both should be taught as theories"

Define "proof".
Define "creationism".

And explain how creationism has ANY place whatsoever in a public high school science class.
When teaching science, you need to deal with scientific ideas, not religious ideas, not mythology.
The Genesis account IS mythology, in its truest sense: It's an explanation of the world using stories.

How this is even an ISSUE is beyond me.

Day 2: Speaking in tongues.
Day 3: Sacrificing firstborns.
Day 4: Cutting off right hand.
Day 5: Executing gays.
Day 6: Cutting off left hand.
Day 7: Turning water into wine.
Day 8: Walking on water.
Day 9: Stoning adulterers.
Day 10: Keeping kosher/halal.

Adaptation is a fact. Macro Evolution is a theory and if Darwin were alive today he would abandon it. Most scientists would abandon it today if it weren't for the only other alternative.

Here's what is taught from the Book of Liberalism:

Day 1: Evolution cannot be challenged.
Day 2: Man made global warming is a fact and we must all pay higher taxes
Day 3: Child killers and child rapists must not be judged too harshly
Day 4: White males are inherently evil.
Day 5: Marriage is rape.
Day 6: Rich people should give all their money to poor people.
Day 7: All religions should be tolerated except Christianity.
Day 8: Murderers are morally equivalent to their victims.
Day 9: Fox News is biased, MPR and MSNBC tell the truth.
Day 10. Kill your parents and the cops.

Seriously, Fatuous Wanker Thom, stick to Foosball.

Or make yourself useful and brush up on your outdoor behavior: www.fontanasports.com

Scientists believe they know the origin of mankind. Really? How is that when we don't even know the origins of some of his works?

Who here can explain the ancient stone structures found a Puma Punku? When and how were they built?

There are no questions deserving of derision. The fact remains, modern humans simply do not know their own history.

As a red diaper baby, Sarvis had learned all the basics of Marxism such as the evils of capitalism, the dictatorship of the proletariat and the eventual withering away of the state. But when Sarvis got home from Harvard he told his commie parents, "Those libs are really crazy!! They are very intolerant of anyone who doesn't fall in line with their ideas and will make Mao's cultural revolution look like a garden party."

"Relax", said his commie cell leader dad, "Get your PhD in Trans Gender Studies and join the vanguard. After the libs get rid of all the capitalists and their conservative sympathizers, we will get rid of those crazy libs."

Foosball.
Y'know, there's a lot you can learn from Foosball.
For example, the little guys in green don't talk as much as the little guys in red.
Funny that way, foosball.

"Unfortunately until proof is shown of either creationism or evolution being fact, both should be taught as theories,"

Um, no. Creationism isn't a theory; it's faith. Theories are scientific.

Lib Darwinist Faith teaches that one celled creatures evolved into fifty foot sharks, zebras evolved into hippos, monkeys turned into humans. Lib mythology is harder to believe than Noah's Ark or Jonah's whale.

Crazy libbies!

As a Kentucky native and lifelong resident, I would like to note for the record that we Kentuckians are not all as hopelessly ensnared in superstitious anti-science as Ricky D. Line is.

("Ricky?" Seriously? You're a grownup school superintendent and you still call yourself Ricky?)

Even dwarfs and midgets made fun of DOC_SARVIS because he wasn't much taller than the plastic soccer figures on the foosball table. Foosball was Doc's favorite game and FWTHOM was Sarvis' favorite player even though Doc had never seen a game because he was so short. One day FWTHOM lifted Doc Sarvis up on the table during a game and everyone, even the dwarfs and midgets were laughing their ass off as Doc tried to dodge the ball and the twirling red and green men. At the end of the game, Doc got his ass kicked into the goal that won the game for FWTHOM.

Really? So now you're saying that we're not all part of the inbred lineage of two selfish assholes named Adam & Eve?
