Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Former Denver Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer would like to see current quarterback Tim Tebow cut down the number of references to Jesus Christ. "I think that when he accepts the fact that we know that he loves Jesus Christ, then I think I'll like him a little better," Plummer said on Phoenix sports radio station XTRA Sports 910. "I don't hate him because of that, I just would rather not have to hear that every single time he takes a good snap or makes a good handoff."

Would you prefer that he swear or use other crude language? He could grandstand oor showboat. Would that be better? However, I believe one can influence more people by behavior than by preaching by a lay person."By their deeds shall ye know them."

If he ever learns to throw a tight spiral, they'll say mass at halftime at mile-high stadium.

Perhaps if he layed out a prayer rug and prayed towards Mecca, this would not be a story.

Plummers right, Tebow has Jesus tourettes.

Just shut the hell up and play the game, Jesus doesn't give one shit about about the NFL or the Seahawks would be better then 4-6.

To the believers, every game Tebow wins is proof that christianity is the one true religion. And every game he loses is just god, "testing their faith" like he did when he hid all the dinosaur bones underground to make the earth seem like its more than 6000 years old.

Which is 5860 years older then the globowarnings cultists think the earth is.

Poor Rex. Too dumb to know he's dumb.

HA! Where did this little parasitic tic come from?

I knew the little piss-ant was on the rag about something....

Because Jake Plummer wants to be relevant?

I loved seeing Rex Ryan getting Tebowed.

That sounds oddly perverse.

go figure .. Tebow would gain more street cred with Libs if he ran cock-fights, lost his house in a game of Texas Hold'em, and dated his FG kicker

I'd have a little more sympathy if, every now and then, Jesus got blamed for a dropped pass or two.

"Perhaps if he layed out a prayer rug and prayed towards Mecca, this would not be a story."

On the contrary, it's because he's chanting the popular chorus he's even tolerated. Switch his salutations to Allah after every first down, and he's on the next bus out.

Denver let Kyle Orton go today--gone.

Nowhere in the article does it mention Plummer's political affiliation, asshat.

"Denver let Kyle Orton go today--gone."

There are a lot of teams out there who could use a little Luck.

"I think that when he accepts the fact that we know that he loves Jesus Christ, then I think I'll like him a little better," Plummer said ---

Well Jakie--obviously--lol--

YOU don't accept it that's why you are still criticizing the man! Isn't that irony?---------------------

Did anyone catch the end of the game with the Jets? There were about 30 players kneeling in a circle--both Broncos and Jet players--omg! They were praying!! God Bless Tebow! God Bless All of Them!

Orton is a really good QB--

KC could use him since Cassel is out with a broken hand or something.

"YOU don't accept it that's why you are still criticizing the man! Isn't that irony?"

Um...no, that's not irony.

Say, any update on who is leading the PWZ ff league?

Because RCADE loves talking about God. Any thread about Christianity gets elevated to the front page :(.

"Say, any update on who is leading the PWZ ff league?"

The same person who won PWZ's inaugural season.

Oh, wait...

Who cares what Jake The Plumber thinks or says

Errrrr, I mean the Retort ff league...I' m in second place in the PWZ league.

"RCADE loves talking about God. Any thread about Christianity gets elevated to the front page"

You're joking, right? It's one of the big three: sex, religion, and politics. Combine all three, and you've got a successful website. Or at least a discussion.

Shut the hell up Scatfrist, your breath stinks.

"shut the hell up "

Yeah...reminders of past failures suck.

Speaking of reminders...remind us: who won PWZ's first year of FF football?

"FF football"

Brought to you by The Department of Redundant Redundancy.

"your breath stinks."

Clearly, a man whose nose is too close to his asshole...as usual.

"Shut the hell up Scatfrist"

You can always tell when Wrecks is drunk; the name of the day ends in "Y".

What the hell are you gibbering about, you retarded chimp....

Go find a thread about prancing faeries, leave the sports to those who know...

I AM sorry for hitting a nerve with you .. are you sweet on Denver's FG kicker?

Thanks, Vern, for linking to a website which has nothing at all to do with this discussion.

aka...SOP.

Anyways....been a good season so far...the playoffs are right around the corner.

"You'd think it would happen, playing in a robe and sandals"
www.catholicshopper.com

I loved the link.

Is it just me, or does Jesus in all those action poses just look like Jerry Sandusky in a beard?

"#37"

Hmmmm...

Doesn't sound like me, especially since the website DOES have something to do with the discussion...

...especially Running-Back Jesus (who, btw, is being held on that play!)

I think that it is great that our Lord Jesus Christ is brought up so much!!! Everyone needs to be reminded that we have a Savior who will come back and judge them somdday!!! That is a lot of the problems with the people in the world, they are trying to take Jesus out of everything. As I said we all need to be reminded. In God We Trust !!!

Personally, I get annoyed -- mildly annoyed, not frothing-at-the-mouth annoyed -- when people feel compelled to inform me of their religious orientation, especially when I don't really know them. "Well, yeah, I'm in sales," says the guy to whom I extend the use of my jumper cables in a parking lot, "douche nozzles, it's the shizzle for my nizzle. Well, douche nozzles and being a born-again Christian."

I am only slightly exaggerating.

And, as I say, it's mildly annoying. My preference is to keep that kind of stuff -- now that I think of it, both the douche nozzle salesmanship and born-again Christian status -- should be personal, internalized.

hmmmm, Doc's conscience is shooting little twinges?

Seriously, I can't figure out what it is you're trying to say.

I hate pubic displays/revelations of religious beliefs in a secular setting.

People can get up and dance around bonfires of incense, bang on gongs, shout "Jeebus!" or "Mammon!" or "Shammalammadingdong!," swallow snakes, whatever, in whatever building, grove, cave, holler, airplane hanger, or volcano crater serves as their place of worship.

But I'm as slightly offended by them informing me of their goddamned religious beliefs, unasked, as I am by the bozos who come knock-knock-knocking at my door in hopes of ensnaring me in their fairy tale delusions.

perhaps your "DR-identity" has been compromised ..
AND from your DR postings they believe that THEIR religion would make YOU a better member of Society than does your current "Secular Marxism"

IF as DR poll thread verifies this, YOU MUST SUBMIT to their wishes .. for the good of the "collective group"

thx in advance ..

perhaps your "DR-identity" has been compromised ..

Oh, Jeebus, do we have another Niceville-ish stalker in our midst?

Again, if I could understand what it is you're rattling on about...but, oh well, that's probably a bit like trying to teach a pig to whistle "Yankee Doodle" out of the air hole below its tail.

"As I said we all need to be reminded. In God We Trust !!!" Er...no we don't need to be reminded. Religion should be a personal thing, when you invade my space with your religion expect a rude greeting.

expect a rude greeting.

That's right... you have a right to be an ass just because someone told you something...

Oh... that's right... that is exactly what you accuse them of doing. I guess you live by the Do unto others and they do unto you theory... huh Danni?

I'm just happy to see an NFL player that doesn't showboat and talk shit about his teammates and team owners.

By the way, Danni is your typical leftist. She isn't offended by religion, she's offended by Christianity.

If someone offers up a prayer of thanks or goodwill, good on them, regardless of who it be to.

I miss the days of Joe Montana to Jerry Rice. Rice would run in for the TD and go over to the ref and simply hand him the ball.

"By the way, Danni is your typical leftist. She isn't offended by religion, she's offended by Christianity." No, I'm just don't tolerate assholes who think their opinion about religion needs to be forced on the rest of us. I actually respect many religious people who quietly exercise their faith without wearing it on their sleeve.

"If someone offers up a prayer of thanks or goodwill, good on them, regardless of who it be to."

Thank you Jesus for letting us score a touchdown? Please.

Thank you Jesus for our 10-0 season.
Sincerely, TitleTown.

Cutler's probably out for 6-8 weeks--wouldn't it be ironic as all get-out if Chicago grabbed Orton?

I don't have a problem with Plummer expressing his personal distaste for Tebow's constant evangelism. Tebow is presumably talking about Jesus so often because his church compels its members to spread the Word and convert others.

I like the guy because he's a local hero and I've yet to hear a bad thing about his personal conduct, but I can't blame people for thinking enough already with the Jesus stuff.

You can say that again. Trying going a whole day w/o hearing a religious thought.

Just STFU climb back in your caves and return to your charcoal art work.

"Drop Kick Me Jeezus Through the Goal Posts of Life".

www.youtube.com

"Would you prefer that he swear or use other crude language? He could grandstand oor showboat. Would that be better?"

His constant, conspicuous religious displays ARE showboating.

Duh.

Instead of claiming that Jebus is helping him win football games, which is sacriligious if you really think about it, how 'bout he gives some credit to the defense that keeps winning games for him despite his inability to put points on the board?

thats right jake...you were such a GREAT WINNER werent you

but mainly...make sure the radicals do EVERYTHING they possibly can to shut this guy up,...HE MUST BE STOPPED from showing his faith and using his constitutional rights...AT ALL COSTS>!!!!!!

If Tebow wants to play jesus lover he should put his money where his mouth is and give all his money to the poor and disabled.

Otherwise, he is just a punk with a jesus complex and does not understand what he is preaching...

Everyone knows Jesus is a Dol-phan! Of course, they pronounce it "Hey-sus" down here...and there are a bunch of them.

FULL DISCLOSURE

when denver game last thursday was over and he was with the nflnetwork crew...EVERY question he answered the same way pretty much...I turned it but that doesnt meant that I will allow leftists dicks to fuck him over..

HEY PRO....look up what the kid does for hungry children all over the world before you run your fuckin mouth...apparently you dont know shit from shinola...

here you go fuckface

www.sportspickle.com

AND LET me make it easy for you by extracting the key sentence..

According to reports, Tebow has already blown through his $2.5 million signing bonus on various worldwide charity organizations focusing on famine, education and home-building.

SO do at least a LITTLE research before you attack the man..

AND YES

I, in the name of mr. tebow, accept your apology...

The autumn wind is a pirate.

And it doesn't give a fuck about Jesus.

"I wish you would quietly exercise your politics/opinion without wearing it on your sleeve..." Er...you only know me in this politics blog, so I should refrain from discussing politics here???? You have some really wierd ideas.

"HE MUST BE STOPPED from showing his faith and using his constitutional rights...AT ALL COSTS>!!!!!"

You seem to foaming at the mouth because someone used his constitutional rights to say Tebow's unending Jesus-schtick is annoying.

If Tebow wants to play jesus lover he should put his money where his mouth is and give all his money to the poor and disabled.

Otherwise, he is just a punk with a jesus complex and does not understand what he is preaching...

Dicklicks247-- you may want to do a little research before posting- Tebow does live the life he preaches.

I hate the guy, but he does "put his money where his mouth is"

Er...you only know me in this politics blog, so I should refrain from discussing politics here???

#70 | Posted by danni at 2011-11-23 12:13 PM | Reply | Flag:

PLEASE DO! Also, you don't just discuss politics here. You also often discuss your most recent paranoid, demented, and delusional conspiracies as well.

If Timmy wants to pay homage to mythological beings that's his right. Obviously HyZeus really isn't a football/Bronco's fan otherwise Timmy would be the next Elway.

If you are referring to Tebow's tax sheltered foundation you make me laugh. How else is the jesus loving Tebow going to shelter his $11 million NFL contract from the tax man.

Why doesn't he just write a check to the Philippine government to build a hospital? Why does he need a tax shelter to be generous?

I think the bible says something about idol worshiping.

"Why doesn't he just write a check to the Philippine government to build a hospital? Why does he need a tax shelter to be generous?"

He's able to give more that way. Knocking him on his charitable work is a dead end.

You guys know all NFL players have a tax shelter foundation/charitable organization to hide their money right? You have to give money in order for the foundation to pass IRS scrutiny.

As I said before he can give his money away to the poor and disabled if he wants to walk the walk.

To me, the Jesus stuff is tiresome but easy to ignore.

The annoying thing about Tebow to me is that people think he's a good NFL quarterback, which is ridiculous and not really Tebow's fault. Best you can say is that he eats clock and hasn't turned the ball over much. The team is winning despite him. Anyone who thinks he's the big reason they are winning is a little crazy.

The only full game of his that I watched was the last one and Rex Ryan helped him out tremendously by running a dime for part of that last drive and then calling an all out blitz on that last run play even though the best thing you can do to Tebow is force him to stay in the pocket and throw the ball. To Tebow's credit, he did sniff out the blitz and take the appropriate actions but that was really a gift for him.

"As I said before he can give his money away to the poor and disabled if he wants to walk the walk."

In reality, he does.

Wow. Prolix is as ignorant as they come.

Obama voter? Right?

Not a star fucker, that's all.

If Tebow really meant what he says he would LIVE the LIFE of jesus which was a life of poverty.

You know, worldly possessions, rich man and camels moving through an eye of a needle and all that Jesus stuff.

You know walk the walk.

Yeah. Like you do, right?

You're a douchenozzle.

By the way. Let me know when Obama does those things.

Nancy Pelosi got up a couple of months ago and gave a big speech to some Catholics, in which she said Jesus was the word, made flesh. Is she a Christian? Using your criteria, nope. But she's a big hero in libtardom.

Not a star fucker, that's all.

If Tebow really meant what he says he would LIVE the LIFE of jesus which was a life of poverty.

dicklicks, you realize pastors get paid as well, some pretty well so are they not doing their part because they dont live in poverty? interesting.

I give to charity too. So,

Jesus is the Man
Jesus is the way
Jesus is Jesus
I owe all my success to Jesus

A moment of hypocritical silence

Yes Jesus showed me the way
I live for Jesus
Jesus loves you (some of you)
Jesus is my savior

See that pass?

Lordy, Lordy, Lordy,
I love me some Jesus
Jesus
Jesus
Jesus

We have forsaken you

Oh Jesus
Forgive me Jesus

And let's not forget!

I HAVE SINNED oh Jesus...

Kersh - what did Jesus do to the money changers in the church? That is your answer.

When I was younger the pastor at my church lived there and took donations to survive. And I was brought up in the Baptist church just like Tebow.

WWTD

Hey AFKBabble, you got some man-crush on timmy don't you.

Sucker

You're kinda creepy.

Tebow can say it as many times as he wants. He's a good role model and a winner. jake plummer is entitled to his opinion too, but should shut the hell up before he is sent to HELL. Tebow, I'm sure, will say a prayer for his soul.

Besides, one has to believe in God and miracles for him to have won those 4 games.

Yes I know you are uncomfortable because I am correct.

Its okay.

No. You just weird. Get help.

a) I went to church and a football game broke out.
b) I went to a football game and a prayer meeting broke out.

if a) then b).
if not a) then not b).

"a) I went to church and a football game broke out."

RIR is just uncomfortable in his closeted homosexuality

Oh.

Who gives a shit if Tebow's religious? All that matters in the NFL is wins. That said, a whole lot of people don't think he can keep this up. Defenses will adjust to the option and, when they do, he better know how to throw a football.

as a bronco fan.. i like tebow because he plays hard, never going down easy... which leads to the rest of the team playing hard.
kyle orton just fell into the fetal position if anybody got near him.. so the team played weak too

as for the jesus stuff... good for him... could be all that good karma from his religious side spilled over to the broncos.. they needed it
it's his life, his choice and he seems to be very happy with it. if you or i don't like it.. who cares
