Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

As Michelle Bachmann walked out to appear on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Monday, the NBC show's in-house band played part of the Fishbone song "Lyin' Ass Bitch." Questlove, the dummer for the band The Roots that plays on Fallon's program, hinted about the musical choice beforehand on Twitter: "Aight late night walkon song devotees: you love it when we snark: this next one takes the cake. ask around cause i aint tweeting title." Bachmann, who didn't recognize the song, said later, "This wouldn't be tolerated if this was Michelle Obama; it shouldn't be tolerated if it's a conservative woman either."

That's a sorry-ass thing to do to an invited guest. I know Fallon loves The Roots, but he shouldn't laugh that off. Bachmann's right that if it was done to Michelle Obama, there'd be outrage.

But not Palin? Or do jokes about underage girls being impregnated by MLB'ers still not qualify as being tasteless?

Fallon was out of line and Bachman was actually very good on the show.
He should apologize.

Was Palin a guest that night? Then it is apples to oranges as Rcade specified doing it to "an invited guest."

"But not Palin? Or do jokes about underage girls being impregnated by MLB'ers still not qualify as being tasteless?" Of course they are.

I agree with Rcade. Very poor taste. Couldn't they find a song entitled "Dat Bitch Be Crazy"?

But not Palin? Or do jokes about underage girls being impregnated by MLB'ers still not qualify as being tasteless?

Different situation. Palin wasn't an invited guest when Letterman told a few Palin jokes. I'd have no problem with Fallon telling jokes about Bachmann when she wasn't around.

Who cares?
She wanted to be on the show to promote a book.
May have been a crappy thing for the show to do but she knew she is not exactly a favored person in the realm of media.

It may have worked in her favor in the long run.

1) I didn't even know she was on the show until this story
2) People who hate her are defending her

It was pretty rude. If you're going to invite the a-hole on your show, you should at least treat her better.
I was pretty disappointed in Ozzy when he played for Dubya at the White House and did not do "War Pigs".

Fallon was out of line and Bachman was actually very good on the show.

LMAO.

Explanation: You bring up Michelle Obama as an example saying there would have been hell to pay. I bring up Palin, (meaning another GOP woman) and sarcastically use the "late night" tasteless joke as context. Why? If it had been Palin there would NOT have been outrage.

Underlying point? Hypocrisy and double standard...

You bring up Michelle Obama as an example saying there would have been hell to pay

NO, Bachmann brought her up.

Bachmann, who didn't recognize the song, said later, "This wouldn't be tolerated if this was Michelle Obama; it shouldn't be tolerated if it's a conservative woman either."

And your post was not bigoted, hypocritical, or anti-intellectual.

Your a joke TFF.

Its a shitty thing to do to someone who is an invited guest on your show. Especially if you're an untalented assclown like Fallon. Its not like people are tripping over each other to be interviewed by him.

The best thing Fallon ever did was mar the Red Sox 2004 WS celebration by being on the field filming that shitty movie he was in with Drew Barrymore.

Meh kinda conflicted on this one.

OTOH, it was a rather classless, juvenile prank to pull albeit one that MB was sure not to get at the time (part of the joke, ya see).

OTOH, MB has told some grade A whoppers since starting her POTUS nom bid.

/Vaccines cause retardation anyone?

So yeah a part of Spud trololol'd when he heard the news but then the rational adult side kicked in and sed tsk tsk afterwords.

MB is more crazy than a liar so Spud woulda gone with Buck Cherry rather than Fishbone there but maybe that's just Spud.

Be Well.

I would have used "Takin' Care of Business."

She would be happy with the "TCB" part of it. Her fans would say "how neat to play a Bachmann Turner song for Bachmann" and people like me would be cracking up at lyrics like "it's the work that we avoid" and "we love to work at nothing all day" the song has that relates to her.

I coulda gone with this one.

That alone would qualify her as a "lyin' ass bitch".

When you take into account the rest of her political ideology, you need to change your description. She's a dumbass bitch... and a liar. But primarily a dumbass.

"I would gladly shoot this nigger in his ugly dread-loc'd head...," or

"I would gladly shoot this fag in his ugly cock-sucking mouth...," those comments would have nothing to do with race or sexual preference.

Yes it was tasteless. But then again was it any more tasteless than the way Fox shows often treat their invited guests with whom they disagree? I am going to say if she was smart she (or her people) would know about what they do and have it ironed out in advance. Michelle's people would have...

It's sorta sad to see Fallon lower himself the Fox level in that respect; but she is a lyin' ass bitch.

Yes. At least Fox says it to your face, and (sometimes) allows the guest to respond.

She should be treated the same way any other candidate is treated -- directly challenged.

Look what Mitt's pulling with the Obama "If we talk about the economy..." ad. Do you expect to see anyone playing a "lying..." theme as he's introduced as a guest? Can you think of examples where this has been done to anyone else?

Agreed, but none of the Republican "Presidential candidates" are ever challenged - that's why they give interviews on television. Without that provision they would never go public, imo.

Seriously, you've missed the point.

While too many of the OWS folks are fools, others have tried to point out some very salient and important facts, chief of which if the tables were turned (i.e., if the citizenry ripped off the banks to the tune of trillions) a lot of people would be going to jail. Others have shown the perils of working a lifetime with that "skill and education", only to have their 401(k)s decimated by some folks gambling while backed by the government, and others, as time goes, will see how inflation will also be a destroyer of all things acquired by their "skill and education".

Crusty is too old and senile to even understand that the OWS movement is not about the wealth of the 1% and too ignorant to even realize that he has already been robbed by the 1%. He buys into the dream that he too will join them someday soon...soon has he hits it big on the lotto.

Does she feel the same about Michelle being booed at a NASCAR race? I haven't heard of any network people in hot water over that.

Also moron, I beleive the post you read and pasted said it wasn't about the so called wealth of the 1%'ers.

This was badly done. Those criticizing Fallon are right to do so.

However, I have a problem with Bachmann's response: "This wouldn't be tolerated if this was Michelle Obama; it shouldn't be tolerated if it's a conservative woman either."

1. Wouldn't be tolerated by whom?

2. It's not about your being a conservative woman, Rep. Bachmann. It's about your being you. Would Fallon do this to a liberal politician? I don't know. But I'm awfully tired of the "conservative woman" critique. And you know, don't go on a show run by a comedian known to be liberal and not expect some attacks of various kinds that the host thinks will be funny. I'm not defending the action, merely pointing out that the foolishness. Her best bet probably would have been to make a joke about it. Palin could have come up with a pretty good crack, I bet. I wonder if Bachmann did; she's been known to produce a zinger or two. Fight fire with fire, Rep. Bachmann!

"Does she feel the same about Michelle being booed at a NASCAR race? I haven't heard of any network people in hot water over that."

Hm. Not comparable. That was the fans, if I read it right; this was a host, or his musical director, which amounts to pretty much the same thing.

Medicare is something that is paid for. It's an asset. It's not an entitlement program.

Yes, if the government decides to just take it away, then those who paid into it are screwed. At least give us what we paid into it so that we can invest into a similar long-term care plan.

I know a little about the health care industry.

so yes it is very simple (you even gave yourself a hint!)

the Question was and still is:

Give us an example of a Medicare Like Plan so we can all invest into a similar long-term care plan

go ahead...list one please.

"if there was a opt-out plan to Medicaid/Medicare, then you would see better plans appear. Any questions Einstein? "

Yeah: you don't know the first damned thing about Medicare, do you?

OK, that's pretty outrageous. The band member(s) who called that tune should be fired. If Fallon knew about it before hand, he should be fired, too. Completely out of line.

go ahead...list one please.

Einstein,

I just told you that there are no Medicare-type plans because we have... well... Medicare.

There are, however, long-term care and other supplement plans.

You've already got your ass handed to you on the idiot pepper-sprayed woman. Why are you doing it again?

Are you drunk?

What?

Why are all the Libbies being really stupid tonight?

"What?"

You don't know the first damned thing about Medicare, do you?

Hard of reading, too?

"Why are all the Libbies being really stupid tonight?"

Well, since you're so clueless, let's go back to square one, just to see if you have any grasp of reality:

What do you believe the monthly premium currently is for basic Medicare?

Just like Danforth to start a strawman argument.

You're full of shit asshole, unless you can link to some real numbers.

Donnerboy made a stupid statement and I called him on it.

*crickets*

To anyone: What if Fallon told a joke and the music sting was from the same song?

(We seem to agree that the use was wrong.)

"Just like Danforth to start a strawman argument. "

Just like Eddie to be too clueless to know he's clueless.

"You're full of shit asshole, unless you can link to some real numbers."

Okay, here's a link to some real numbers: questions.medicare.gov
Medicare premiums for most retired workers (40 years or more of work) are free for part A, and less than $97 a month for part B. You posted, and I quote:

"if there was a opt-out plan to Medicaid/Medicare, then you would see better plans appear."

You'd have to be a complete moron to actually believe people would opt out of Medicare to choose some "better plan", for what the insurers would have to charge that actuarial pool.

You'd also have to be completely math-challanged to believe today's retirees' miniscule contributions to Medicare would have made it a better deal to invest on your own, especially considering with the last generation of medical inflation.

Hey Eddie, where'd you run off to? Do you always turn tail like this when you're shown to be so clueless?

"What's funny, Donnerboy, is that I didn't know what I was talking about. And we are talking about common knowledge.

Wow. Just wow.

At least he's honest.
