Some of you through the years have questioned music in public schools and such. Just thought this would help in understanding that public school music isnt just a way to celebrate a touchdown or take a trip to disneyworld.

Dribbles,

If you're honest, you'd acknowledge that most of the liberals around here don't demean or berate you for being a retired HS music teacher. I have often berated you for seeming to be an illiterate based upon every single thing that you post. I've long decried the elimination of music, art, phys. ed, theatre and many other programs that create well rounded thoughtful students.

The concept goes well beyond injury. In HS I was a left-brained nerd and when a close friend in college gave me some guitar pointers... I took an approach toward develping my ear for music and feelings of life.

After 10 years playing it worked. Before guitar I was the best HS trumpet but had no ear to pick out a song... and you can still say I suck at it but at least I have a good time (hmmm crazy).

After 25 years I've begun taking lessons and am doing 100% improv. I have over 600 original songs on my youtube channel. For me and a few other's they're fun expressions of letting out the feelings onto the strings... some find it annoying even angering that someone would do such a thing in spite of their ability to criticize... these days, like the coppercab, it makes it all the more fun.

Rock on for the Giffords, the old, the young, and anyone else who gives a brain cell or 2 for reality. PS: See Godel Escher and Bach (Hoffstadter). Art and math help too.
