Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said that he knows he could win the White House, but he's not running because he's not ready. "I have people calling me and saying to me, 'Let me explain to you how you could win.' And I'm like, 'You're barking up the wrong tree. I already know I could win.' That's not the issue. ... I've got to believe I'm ready to be president, and I don't."

"As for being governor, "there has never been a day where I've felt like I'm over my head, I don't know what to do, I'm lost," he said. "I don't know whether I'd feel the same way if I walked into the Oval Office a year and a half from now. So, unless you get yourself to the point where you really believe you have a shot to be successful, then I don't think you have any business running for it."

A good perspective to take. If you don't feel ready, you don't run just because you may probably win. No wonder we have had such poor presidents the past view times. Instead of electing someone who is prepared and capable for the job, we elect the person who can win.

Stupid.

Of these:

Kennedy
Johnson
Nixon
Carter
Reagan
Bush I
Clinton
Bush II

Who do you deem was "prepared and capable", and what are your criteria for "success"?

But I've got to believe I'm ready to be president, and I don't. And I think that that's the basis you have to make that decision."

Good for him!

We spent so long wondering if we COULD do it that we never stopped to ask ourselves if we SHOULD- Jurassic Park

"Who do you deem was "prepared and capable", and what are your criteria for "success"?"

In that list? All but one were at one time Governors or VP's. Let's match that up to the articulate black guy with less than four years as a Jr. US Senator, and on to the WH.

So, they were all successful?

Kennedy: Good looking, chick magnet, charismatic. Dad had a lot of bootlegger money. Hired Sorenson to ghostwrite "Profiles in Courage." Gave the moon speech at Rice. Had the dangdest reelection commercial in history: PT-109 starring Spiderman's Uncle Ben.

Johnson: Pissed money like Truman II, mired the country in a decade-long war, went limp dicked in the face of ...... McCarthy ..... bailed out.

Nixon: tough, mean, sinister, vindictive -- all important traits of the day. Stared down the Russians and opened China.

Carter: whiny, confused, in over his head, sold out taxpayers to get his Nobel (delayed 30 years). Only won because Ford pardoned Nixon. Still won't STFU

Reagan: Saint Reagan. That says it all. But, revived American spirit after Carter, won the Cold War. Lurched the nation away from it's socialist trajectory.

Bush I: Nice guy. Thought it was 'his turn' and by promising Reagan III. When he didn't do that it riled up Perot

Clinton: Horn dog, white trash from Hot Springs. Brilliant politician who knew how to claim victory even though he lost the fight. Probably still calls Perot on Christmas.

Bush II: He wasn't Gore. He wasn't Kerry.
-----
I'd say Kennedy, Nixon and Reagan. Plus Bush II but only because he wasn't Gore and wasn't Kerry

Reagan was a stupid Alzheimer's-addled idiot, making him vastly smarter than Vermin even now that Ron's dead.

It would cost the taxpayers too much to have all the doors at the WH super-sized.

On the bright side, he would just about fit snugly into the Oval Office if dropped by a crane.

Now, here come the temperature charts ......

5, 4, 3, 2 . . . . . .

But I've got to believe I'm ready to be president, and I don't.

He's coming along in his dodder-age, though clearly terrified of the specter of Alzheimer's waiting for him soon

"What do you mean? I already posted them temperature charts? Are you sure?"

wow, corkster made a fat joke - and after his lunch and his little nappie poo, maybe he will be allowed to finger paint - if he doesn't eat any more paste.

You've been pulling on Jack Daniels for decades.

Clinton: Horn dog, white trash from Hot Springs that could get pussy without using a mail-order bride service. Had country on track to pay off debt left by Beirut Bonzo and Gannon's cum-dumpster's dad.

If Cristy says he isn't ready then what does that say he probably thinks about all the other Republican contenders? I'm sure he wouldn't admit it but I have a feeling that he thinks they are all unqualified.

If Obama's previous successes are any indication (you know, extending tax cuts, extending wars, extending big brother policies, extending high rates of unemployment, etc.) there will be plenty of hard work left over after he's done.

Sounds like 1Looneytarian's got his projection machine up and running early today.

"I have people calling me and saying to me, 'Let me explain to you how you could win.' And I'm like, 'You're barking up the wrong tree. I already know I could win.' That's not the issue."

This fat-arsed buffoon becomes more ridiculous each time he opens his mouth. Even by GOPiggie standards he's a non-starter. I hope they embrace him, though, because he'd come across as a childish, bullying jerk on the national stage once the limelight really got focused on him.

The way you'll know he's running, for sure, is when he starts shedding a pile more pounds. His minders/feeders wouldn't dare let this porker announce for the national game until his photograph coupled with the word "bloated" isn't a guaranteed trigger for gales of laughter.

Christie's an interesting politician. But if he really thought he could win, I have trouble believing he would decline to run on the principle he's not ready. I wonder when Palin would run if she followed the same guideline. 2060?

You forget, Palin has no principles.

#32 and #33.

Of course you two wouldn't think someone might be able to win, know that the opportunity to win is there, but not run because they are not ready and don't feel they would do the job as well as it should be done.

Why wouldn't you believe that? Well because none of your heroes on the left would be willing to make that stand on principle. They have no issue coming out of the senate after half a year of service to take a job they are clearly not prepared for.

You shore have a point there.

Has there ever been a President less prepared than Obama? If so, who?

Arguably true but I didn't ask about performance, I'm asking about preparedness.

Which President was less prepared than Obama before becoming president?

#42 | Posted by bombastic at 2011-03-03 10:22 AM | Reply | Flag:

You have to understand that Truthhurts deals in his own reality. no matter what or how you ask him, he will answer it in a way that does not have much to do with what you asked.

$5 dollar to the first person who can make a reasonable case that there has been a former President less prepared than Obama.

I'll even accept the premise that "executive" experience isn't the only type that counts.

Can anybody make the case? I say not!

He is no way ready to be President. He needs to spend 2 weeks working as a Senator for the state of IL first.

Nice try.

I do admit though it's going to require some deep digging to uncover anybody less qualified than Obama.

Chester Arthur. Come on, now.

Well, that doesn't work out, because he had 4 months of experience in the white house, experience with tax and tax code, law, etc.

Obama had no experience in the white house before becoming president.

4 months > 0 months

Obama is highly experienced at only one thing. Running for elected office.

Too bad he's always gotten free passes at every one of those "jobs". We are all seeing his lack of preparedness now.

How many days passed before Obama took a position on the Libyan affair? What is his plan going forward?

And I'm afraid the truth is, Obama doesn't have a clue.

This shit is interfering with his livin' like a rock star druthers.

MISTER PRESIDENT

I mean...governor....last election PROVED that to be elected you dont need any experience other than lying and having other lie for you..a community organizer who SMELLS the senate floor can win..
so can you.....

Of these:

Kennedy
Johnson
Nixon
Carter
Reagan
Bush I
Clinton
Bush II

Who do you deem was "prepared and capable", and what are your criteria for "success"?

Johnson, Nixon and Bush I were "prepared and capable."

Reagan and Clinton probably did the best job. Just my opinion based on the relative level of peace and prosperity.

Commonsense,

The difference between your post and my post... is that my post was based on facts. Farakhan talked about Obama getting his orders. Farakhan has also noted in his other speeches that he met Jacob-Muhammad in a space ship.

Your comment about Christie is simply conspiracy theory.

I love his quote from a few days ago!!!!!

I was at a union rally in Trenton, where Gov Jon Corzine was addressing the crowd and he said" he'd fight to get them a fair contract".

Who was he going to fight? Cozine was the guy who signed the checks!

Kind of like the commercials where the guy says he was going to "stick it to the man"... and the announcer says "but YOU ARE the man".

Um, former Illinois Republican candidate Jack Ryan, had to leave the race because he was forcing his hot wife, actress Jeri Ryan (Star Trek), to go to swinger clubs. Ryan's replacement, Alan Keyes, was a weak and easily beaten contender.

Jack Ryan bullied himself off the ballot.

Obama's state senate seat was in South Chicago. Republicans don't win there.

What were you talking about?

Ryan and Keyes were U.S. Senate candidates.

That was a good quote. Christie points out the way the democrats try to get the unions in their back pocket.

Corzine should not be fighting for either the union or the business. He should simply be fighting for the best contract for fiscal responsibility.

Corzine was an idiot. It seems that Christie is not.

And COMMONSENSE is a conspiracy theorist.
