Critchfield says he's received death threats due to the sign; people accuse him of hate speech and racism. He insists the billboard was for something more American in the name of discourse, conversation, and old-fashioned debate.

"If everybody thinks [President Obama's] done a great job and they're very happy," he said, "then I guess they'd be buying billboards saying 'I'm proud to have voted for him.' That's what makes America great, isn't it?"

There is a certain amount of gear you'll need, a good grinder/sander and paint sprayer being the major ones. I wouldn't think it is a DIY unless you are a DIY guru or overall gear-head. Plus, that stuff is messy and toxic.

I used it to patch a crack in my sailboat. But that was glass on glass and under the waterline so aesthetics were irrelevant.

New home sales hit a post-war low in July. What should be clear is that the tax credits helped to pull housing demand forward. What was accomplished by spending tens of billions of dollars to prop up the market for a bit over a year with these tax credits. First, this allowed millions of people to sell their home at a higher price than would have otherwise possible. The flip side is that five million people bought homes at prices that remain inflated. These buyers will see substantial loses when they resell their house.

Of course someone had to issue the mortgage to all those people who bought homes at prices that are still inflated by the bubble. The overwhelming majority of the mortgages issued in the last year and a half are insured by the government, either through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, or through HUD. So, taxpayers are carrying the risk that further price declines will push these mortgages underwater, not banks or private investors.

Putting a 1.2% growth rate together with further house price declines, state and local government cutbacks, and the winding down of stimulus, it is difficult to see how growth can remain positive over the next year. Contrary to what many economists still seem to think the economy remains sick. These economists were also surprised by last month's home sales data.

Maybe doable. I was afraid you were trying to patch a metal panel with glass or a complicated curved surface (like the corner of a bumper). Worst to worst you can just replace the skirt, especially if it is a factory extra, like you got the 'SE' package. You can buy another one already painted --if you really muck it up.

The key is to over-fill, get a good hard set, then over-sand the excess until you have a nice clean 'line' between what you patched and what was original. If you've ever refinished chips in antique furniture with wood putty you'll know what I mean.

Nothing gives the satisfaction of kewl-ass DIY project you thought was above your paid grade. Go for it.

I've seen people on car shows use strips of fiberglass like tape and the putty like substance in a kit. But that was for big gaping holes.

Make sure you find a matched paint-chip marker before you start. Test it out. If your car is more than 2 years old and not a Lexus or Audi --the paint has faded.

This is cool as hell. Here on the beach I have been seeing flashes in the sky I presumed were lightning. I looked at the weather map and there is a shit-storm over 100 miles from here. Yet the lightning is lighting up the clear, starlit sky here at the beach.
