Bjorn Lomborg, one of the world's most high-profile climate change skeptics, is now declaring global warming "undoubtedly one of the chief concerns facing the world today" and "a challenge humanity must confront" in an apparent U-turn.

Ah, and here I thought the Tighties would be all over this.

Obviously the last check from BP/Exxon/Shell bounced and now he is angry.

Maybe they're in the middle of contract negotiations and he's playing hardball...

Or maybe there was an alien spacecraft that landed in the woods by his house, and he and a bunch of other people walked through the spracecraft, which was quite interesting. A funny thing though, he never has seemed the same after the tour, and says and does strange things (for example, backing climate change). He has also had this weird growth on his back as well.

I've also seen Donald Sutherland creeping around his house.

Until the Green party or another truly pro-environment group is elected, nothing will ever get accomplished. Both the Democrats and the Republicans are unwilling to do what it takes to confront climate change. Al Gore was VP for 8 years and couldn't get it done, so what chance does anyone else have?

Playing both sides of the field means more money for me!

-Both the Democrats and the Republicans are unwilling to do what it takes to confront climate change....

Which is why we have Commissions formed = so they can be blamed.... like the current one on the economy.

I guess that settles it.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Who cares? I need a job! One that will support an American way of life that I wish to leave for my grand children.

If that means coal mining or ditch digging, that is what I will do. But those jobs are taken by low brow pesants that are here without documentation.

So, Do I care a wit about a nordic sell-out, turn-coat who is likely on prescription meds? Not a wit!

The climate is constantly changing. It started way before man was driving an SUV and watching football. Seems like we had a mini ice age just a few hunderd years ago. The last big one was about 13,000 years ago. I guess a Mamouth fart was responsible for global warming then. The glaciers were as far south as central MT and ND then but..... that big ol elephant farted and it was over. Damn, I wanted to go play on the ice.

Tell me about the warm snap that happened when the huge coal fields were formed from the swamps in MT, WY,and surrounding area.

I have a suggestion Bluespringmo, get some education! Get a skill! Then maybe you can get a job that doesn't involve ditch digging and can support the lifestyle you seem to feel entitled to.

I do think the stuff we put into the air does have an effect on people's health. I don't think c02 is polution, it is what plants live on.

Stupid is as stupid posts.

Just like the BP spill, and the Exxon Valdez, nature and our planet will take care of minor mishaps that (MAN) causes. Roughly 80% of our planet is covered by water. Oil seeps from the earth naturally all the time. This spill although it seems huge in most people's minds is a needle in the hay-stack.

Remember, 60 to 70% of the ocean is yet undiscovered. Some can point to a needle in the ocean and feel like their saving the planet but....

The BP oil is at the bottom now and encased. Mother nature will deal with it the same way she does with all other natural contaminates that enters her environment.

So feel good about your caring heart and your touchy feeling bullshit. I say, "you don't make a difference either way in this".

The Sane Society

We are living in an unsustainable economy. Any jungle bunny can see we are all crazy, at war with other civilizations and nature. Climate change is but one aspect of our sick condition. Most problems would solve themselves if the planets population were dramatically reduced. Otherwise technology addresses problems one at a time at great expense while sparing no expense to protect the rich and powerful. Being self sufficient goes a long way towards achieving a cure. But, most people live in a state of quiet desperation, permanent existential isolation, seeking religion to fill that void.

Bjorn Lomborg? Holy shit. Julian Simon must be turning in his grave and Paul Ehrlich laughing out loud.

"In August of 2003 the US Administration reversed the 1998 decision of the previous administration, which had classified carbon dioxide as a pollutant, and made it subject to the provisions of the Clean Air Act."

This ain't political!!!! Take c02 out of the air and see what happens ace. You will die. Calling me stupid did nothing for your arguement. It does make you look a lot smaller. Kind of like a peter on a skeeter.

Sniper doesn't know that cO2 is given to plants by animals... he doesn't realize that too much of a good thing is not good...

It seems that it is a lot easier to find a number of dems who did not back obamacare as opposed to finding this critic who changed his mind on Cat & Tax.

Correction to #24 above - Cap & Tax

Yeah but the same applies to oxygen, are we going to tax that too? It is a component of carbon dioxide as well. Wait, thats probably in the works right now.

Pay money for NOT burning gasoline.
How stupid do they think we are?
Why should we pay money for NOT filling up your gas tank?

CO2 is not a pollutant, Derek.

If any of you morons had actually read Cool It you'd already know that Lombord favors a modest carbon tax of $2 per cubic ton of emmissions to be solely ear-marked for R&D for alternative energy sources. You'd also know that he buys into the AGW theory 100% - man is causing the earth to warm with certain negative consequences.

He just has the temerity to point out that shit like Kyoto won't slow the rate of warming in any meaningful way whatsoever - this little fact, based upon the accuracy of the AGW theory, REALLY pisses off the AGW tools.

This headline is bullshit - Lombord is the furthest thing from a "global warming critic".

Way to go, Cork.

"But in a new book to be published next month..."

Never mind.

We will die if lots of things happen. Too much cold, too much heat, too many commies, too many taxes, and on and on. I guess if we had too many trees we would die because we had too much oxygen. Too much oxygen can be a real killer too.

"Denis Rancourt Bails from Global Warming Video: Global Warming IPCC Debunked...Again"

"Leftist physicist Dr. Denis Rancourt, a former professor and environmental science researcher has bailed on his fellow global warmers, saying the movement is nothing more than a "corrupt social phenomenon," and "an imaginary problem of the First World middleclass."

Why didn't ObeyMe make the huge auto bailout contingent on them developing and mass manufacturing of electric cars. At the same time start the process for building many new nuclear power plants to support the electrical damands for the new cars.

Instead he wants a Cap And Trade scam. I mean scheme, to raise billions of dollars for the Fed. The fact is that he is just interested in the money and not the environment or the US dependance on foreign oil

BPH, you got it right. Calling c02 a polutant is the set-up for a carbon tax to pau for the increased size of the government.

Government, not just the fed, has grown by 25% in the last 1 1/2 years. What a deal.

I think I was generically referring to the Federal Government as the Fed.

We'd better take care of this problem.

Next thing you know someone's going to go to a cable company and blow it up for not focusing on Global Warming

If we ONLY GAVE MORE to the bloated, overgrown, wasteful Government. THEN they would save us from climate change.

Funny how all problems, real or imagined on the LEFT involve a tax hike.

You Big-Gov liberals are really one trick ponies, you know that?

Lon, you know that the government will make it all right. All they need is some more of your tax money. By the way, it isn't realy your money.

Yeah but the same applies to oxygen, are we going to tax that too? It is a component of carbon dioxide as well. Wait, thats probably in the works right now.
