Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Saturday, August 28, 2010

Speaking from the site of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr's "I Have a Dream" speech on its 47th anniversary, conservative talk show host Glenn Back claimed to be "Restoring Honor" at his rally on the National Mall in Washington D.C. Saturday. "America today begins to turn back to God," he told the crowd. "For too long, this country has wandered in darkness."

Now, if we could just get Beck to "turn back to god" and change his lying, slanderous, hateful rhetoric against people who's ideas differ from his.

!

"In what resembled more a revival than a political rally"

Earth to the far left...it never was a political rally.

"Beck said his rally was nonpolitical and its mission was to honor American troops.

The left narrative: "Beck is a liar!"

"The rally drew fire for its timing and location."

Only to the far left.

"The Rev. Jesse Jackson told CNN that Beck was mimicking King and "humiliating the tradition."

Of course the Rev. couldn't be wrong.

"I have just gotten word from the media that there are over 1,000 people here today," Beck said sarcastically."

300,000 to even over 500,000 were more realistic estimates. When it is conservatives the media only sees in the hundreds.

"Rally organizers said Saturday's event was not political and asked participants not to carry signs, unlike past Tea Party demonstrations."

They just don't get it! It is NOT a demonstration! WOW!!!

A great day for America, a great day to remember who we are as a country and what our core values should be.

Kudos to Glenn Beck and the other organizers.

On one side we have the Obama administration suing states for enforcing federal law while halting the prosecutions of terrorists, on the other we have 100's of 100o's of good Americans praising what is great about our country.

Which side is correct?

You decide.

BTW, I love seeing the nasty little race pimps like Sharpton and his posse....Modern day slave runners standing on the sidelines watching Americans show pride in their country, while the snakes of division slither with hate on the margin.

Drop a bomb on both Sharpton and Beck's rallies and increase the collective IQ of the US by 10-20 points.

Speaking from the site of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr's "I Have a Dream" speech on its 47th anniversary

Funny I thought he was speaking from the Lincoln Memorial? Is the MLK speech more important?

Though I am not a glenn beck detractor, WHY did he do this on MLK's anniversary. Seems to make a mockery of him, while he argues against the GZ mosque....

Martin Luther King's most famous words are judging men by the content of their character and not the color of their skin, the race pimps and guilty white libs pervert that to quote to mean the opposite.

WHY did he do this on MLK's anniversary

Cuz its a Saturday in late summer... people can get there.

MLK made a great speech there, but let's not deify the man.

This rally is about pride in America, something the left is loath to do...

As that great spiritual mentor of black liberation theology once said, 'God bless America? NO NO NO! GODDAMN AMERICA!' 'It's in the BIBLE!'

(September 15th, 2001)

"This rally is about pride in America, something the left is loath to do..."

What a crock.

Without the ACLU, which I'm sure you'd view as "left," there'd be even less of the First Amendment around that we've got today.

But you don't need much of the First Amendment at a Glenn Beck rally, because He hath decreed: "NO SIGNS!"

So is Beck gonna donate to the troops, or just by gold on their behalf? Funny that a guy from a heretic sect says turn back to God but doesn't tell you only 144,000 (Mormons only, of course) are getting in to Heaven.

Suckers......

"We're told that the brown acid is not specifically too good."

"It was not my intention to select 8-28 because of the Martin Luther King tie. It is the day he made that speech. I had no idea until I announced it," he said on his radio show in June, soon after the announcement of the rally.

Not his intention... had no idea... LOL!!!
And if you believe that I have some swampland in the everglades I would like to sell you.

"And if you believe that I have some swampland in the everglades I would like to sell you."

But I have gold....see how it reflects the light?!?!
~ Glennnn "Lonesome Rhodes" Beck

I would think every American would be proud to see a huge rally with proud Americans discussing what is right about our great country....Hmmm, I guess not.

And the snakes of hate slither in from the margin.....

Let me guess, everything you ever needed to know about Glenn Beck you learned from Mantwink Maddow and/or MSNBC.

Nice.

Stay stupid my friends.

Today was a death blow to the race pimps like Sharpton and his ilk, the false patina of MLK day being a day to foment racial hatred for a quick buck is over.

Also, it's a sad day for guilty white libs, one less day which they can gnash their teeth in pain over fake charges of white racism.

Fight on tonight...

Glen Beck, selling coins at highly inflated prices under the guise that it's an investment in Gold. So the scam artist says "Turn back to god", go ahead and be scammed, buy from Goldine at double the price you can buy from a coin dealer.

Funny that a guy from a heretic sect says turn back to God but doesn't tell you only 144,000 (Mormons only, of course) are getting in to Heaven.

Actually, only 144,000 Jehovah's Witnesses go to heaven. The rest were meant to stay on the earth.

Of course, Sarvis and his atheist minions will have to settle for a dirt nap.

Sorry, no "minons." "Minyan," maybeso.

What makes you think I'm an "atheist," Breachbuzzed?

Beachbuzzard -

I'll check and see if you were able to formulate an answer later. I'm off to a meeting of the capitalist coven, down by the railroad tracks. We're gonna dance around a bonfire of vanities, wave the Star Spangled Banner, shout "Glory Hallelujah, God Bless St. Ronnnie Raygun," and pray to Glennnnnn Beck's Good Gawd of Gold.

"Drop a bomb on both Sharpton and Beck's rallies and increase the collective IQ of the US by 10-20 points."

Nope. You left out Lindsay and Paris.

Almost out the door, but I thought Beachbuzzed might want to know: You're wrong (yeah, again), when you say, "Actually, only 144,000 Jehovah's Witnesses go to heaven."

Check out the Big Bad Book of Revelation for a competing superstition.

Good grief, you're both wrong!

The 144,000 refered to in the Book of Revelation is the number of those that are left behind after the rapture, who will be martyred.

Beach-the 144,000 are the ones who get to hang with God on Kolob, anybody else is just a servant.

So how many were there, dammit? If the apostle of asininity didn't get his 300,000 he either lied or America had better things to do today. herm

do you think MLK would have been upset about this rally?

You left out Lindsay and Paris.

Actually, Paris is a pretty sharp girl.

"Actually, Paris is a pretty sharp girl."

Who just got arrested.

Not so smart.

What makes you think I'm an "atheist,"

Just assumed...

Lisa - read it again. 144,000 go to heaven the rest of those "saved" are meant to populate the earth as it was meant to be with Adam and Eve, not Steve. hehe

Starting to sound like Niceville.

Check out the Big Bad Book of Revelation for a competing superstition.

Another clue of your atheist views.

Stirly:

Chapter 7:9-17, is prophesy of the saved who been killed because they were witnessing, preaching of Jesus. 144,000...all Jews. This was during the tribulation. And that is after ones saved to that point, have been taken up already!

You have it a bassackwards.

"Starting to sound like Niceville."

Have you heard from him? Hope he's doing well.

Glenn has taken the meld of show business and religion to a new level the performers at mega-churches and professional sporting events could only dream of and that P.T. Barnum might never have imagined.

Few in history have compelled such large audiences. Many of those who have had so much attention, such as MLK, actually had something relevant to say. What's amazing about Glenn is not the wisdom that he conveys, but his appeal to the ignorant masses.

I guess P.T. was right. In his time there was a sucker born every minute. Now they're breeding like rabbits.

These are dangerous times.

Evidently the Mormons only have 9 Commandments.

Beck lies with impunity, so he must feel he gets a pass on lying.

Somewhere around 300,000 to 500,000 people... not a bad turnout.

Link to the New York Times above say organizers put the number around half a million while NBC says around 300,000... so probably somewhere in between.

I guess it's a matter of opinion, Whatsleft.

Just how is G-d supposed to fix the economy?
Glenn wasted everyone's time with his non-message.
Seems like the main reason for the speech was Glenn Beck loves the sound of his own voice, even when it's not saying anything.

I mean, "America today begins to turn back to G-d." You sure that didn't begin under Eisenhower, when we inserted "Under G-d" in the Pledge of Allegiance? Or after the Civil War when we put "In G-d We Trust" on our currency?

What America needs is to get over this whole G-d thing. Though I realize there are many Americans who would prefer to live in a Christian American theocracy akin to Saudi Arabia. Hopefully our Constitution is strong enough to prevent the lunatics from taking over the asylum.

Come on Doc... The most plausible reason for the no signs rule was probably to prevent The opposition from sending in people with the N word on a bunch of signs to ruin the whole image. I think it was a good idea... Also.. Without the signs in the way, it will be way easier to get an accurate head count of the attendance from photos taken from above ...

I think the number will shock a lot of folks...

You have it a bassackwards.

You have it a bassackwards.

Revelation 7:3 "Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God." 4Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.

144,000 go to heaven.

And the meek shall inherit the earth.

Psalm 37:11 But the meek will inherit the land
and enjoy great peace.

"Though I realize there are many Americans who would prefer to live in a Christian American theocracy akin to Saudi Arabia."

That is patently absurd...

Few in history have compelled such large audiences.

Just out of curiosity did Beck have to promise free beer, pizza, brats and music to get this crowd?

"Paris is a pretty sharp girl."

Some of you LIBBIES should actually tune in and listen to Beck sometime. (Just like I like to tune in and listen to Rachel Maddow and that political hack Keith Olbermann from time to time).

There's two Becks really: The whiny doomday Beck who cries and has a prophet complex. And then there's the funny political satarist Beck who can be fairly insightful and brilliant.

But to see him described as "hateful" or "racist" is so far afield to simply discredit the accuser. He (Beck)invokes Martin Luther King, because like many Conservatives, he is a follower of Martin Luther King. MLK preacedh judging people on the content of their character rather than race - a classically CONSERVATIVE idea.

I know the poor Libs, with their circular inbred group-thinking and penchant for character attacks will be shocked to hear this. Get outside your groups, it's a big world out there.

Apparently the doofus above hasn't seen what the present regime has been doing these last 19 months? But really, it isn't about the spending. No, it's about the doofus holding on tight to his debauchery!

SNOOFY SEZ: "Neither of the two major parties offers that [smaller government].
Did you have a Plan B you'd like to share with us?"

Why yes I do SNOOF. Let's evaluate candidates individually and ascertain which is MOST LIKELY to be sincere about limited government, and then work like hell to get them elected.

To do this it will be critical to look at their RECORDS and weed out those that are just shifting to center for the election, or are BIG-GOV rino republicans.

Screw political parties. Evaluate candidates and eliminate the advocates of big government.

Government solutions don't work. They erode American freedom and ultimately hurt those they claim to help.

Government solutions are about POWER. Not helping. It's a lie.

Vote for Smaller Government.

"The next "republican" probably will be a true conservative."

There is no such thing.

Why do people delude themselves into thinking any differently?

Perhaps violating Section IV. Paragraph 62. Article 134 of the UCMJ has them all confused.

Government solutions don't work.

Link? I can think of plenty of government solutions that worked, such as the TVA.

they nearly doubled the size of government.

If you are horrified by that, then you must be terrified by what the messiah is trying to do...

Is Obama adding employees to the Federal payroll with the same zeal as his predecessor? I have not heard about this.

Have been laughing my ass off since yesterday when I heard that imbecile Al Sharpton would be holding a "counter rally" a few blocks away from GB's. A COUNTER-rally!!

Ahhhh haaaa.. how freaking great is that? Too funny. Did Rangel and Maxine Waters show up?.. The Three Stooges.

It's the greatest though. How many Independents do you imagine take another step to the Right each time some idiot Liberal spits in the faces of frustrated, hard working, tax paying Americans who are trying to make themselves heard by arrogant politicians who couldn't give a shit less??

JM

"...each time some idiot Liberal spits in the faces of ..."

Got video of that?

Otherwise it didn't happen.

That's what some people say.

Have been laughing my ass off since yesterday when I heard that imbecile Al Sharpton would be holding a "counter rally" a few blocks away from GB's. A COUNTER-rally!!

Did he get over 300,000 people at his rally? How many were White? I only ask that since its apparently such a huge deal that Beck's followers don't include a lot of Blacks. So I guess that means Sharpton is a racist and so is anyone who agrees with him.

Turn your back on god?

Excellent idea Beck.

5 will get you 10 that Beck is in jail for fraud in 5 years on the gold stuff.

I just can't begin to understand the idolation of "true conservativism" on this site. Tell me just one really good thing that "true" conservatives have accomplished in this country. That sure wouldn't be:
- child labor prohibition
- free public schools
- 40 hr work week
- environmental protections
- workplace safety standards
- requirements that car manufactures improve safety and mileage
- Social Security
- Medicare
- Federal Highways
- NASA, space exploration
- end of slavery
- equal rights amendment
- civil rights movement

"Vote for smaller Government in November. Overreaching Government is the problem."

No actually idiots who think in talking points instead of thoughts are the problem.
If we cut the government in half how would that create one new job?
HOw would it change anyone's life except for the people added to the unemployment rolls. Small government is a meaningless talking point designed to distract from the fact that they are outsourcing all the jobs and impoverishing the working class. Another ten years and Americans will be illegal aliens in other countries.

Also, if you think a guy making $13 million a year is honestly leading y'all back to God you are smoking some great shit.

"9After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10and crying out with a loud voice, saying, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!" 11All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12saying:

"Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom,

Thanksgiving and honor and power and might,

Be to our God forever and ever.

Amen."

13Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, "Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?"

14And I said to him, "Sir, you know."

So he said to me, "These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. 16They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; 17for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."" Revelation 7

Read a little more of the book.

A great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues = more than 144,000.

"So you lefties are saying that the new law requiring candy machines to list calories for each treat is a good idea?"

Apparently, you think manufacturers should be allowed to conceal that information. Shouldn't a consumer have the right to know what is in the food he/she buys? Why do you want to limit the rights of consumers?

You liberals on this site never cease to amuse me. You parrot the liberal talking points and the MSNBC garbage they call fair reporting as if it is fact. You attack Glen Beck as a liar and for one of his advertisers on his show and dismiss his ideas (probably becuase you never bothered to listen to him yourself). You refuse to acknowledge what is happening in this country right now, an absolute rejection of the socialist, liberal agenda that your savior Obama brought with him. I am amused daily on the tortured excuses of why this is happening.

I can't wait until Novemeber. Like I did in the Massachusets special election bringing in Scott Brown, I will tune in to MSNBC with some cold beer and laugh my butt off as Chris Matthews, Keith Olberman and Roger Maddow cry in their beer and wonder what happened.

"You conservatives on this site never cease to amuse me. You parrot the conservatives talking points and the Fauxnoise garbage they call fair reporting as if it is fact."

FTFY

"I can't wait until Novemeber."

How's that permanent Republican majority thingy working out for you?

"I could give a flying crap about the political process. We're an entertainment company." - Glenn Beck

Is this whore really who you want speaking for you? His only real priority is his own bank account.

Hi Hans,

Hans what in the world are you talking about, permanent Republican majority? Did I make any reference to that in my post? How are the polls going for your Democrats? Is discussing polling data now a talking point? Or is any differeing point of view, factual or not, dismissed as a talking point? I guess it is easier to dismiss facts as talking points then to refute them LOL.

Since we are on the subject of talking points, which talking points in my post did I use? I can name a ton in the various unthinking, reflexive liberal posts on this thread.

Have a great Sunday.

hows that hope and change now despair and chains been working out for the rest of the country? apparently with the growing dissent nationwide, and as said above, "obama sues states for enforcing federal law while not prosecuting terrorists", pretty much speaks volumes about what change he has in mind.

Hotsauce,

I don't agree with everything Glen Beck says. However, I ccertainly agree with the entire theme of this rally. How can you not agree with it? It is decidedly pro-American, pro-faith and holding up our soldiers as heroes. He can speak for me until the cows come home on these issues as I am 100% behind him.

A Nuremberg rally for the angry, the scared, the footless, the feckless, and credulous, and the hapless.

You right wing partisans spend way too much time drinking their Koolaid!

Beck was sucking up to the Christians because he pissed them off earlier in the summer... and then has started leaning towards America's favorite dead Libertarian atheist, Ayn Rand.

GOP learned before that there aren't enough true capitalists to elect a dogcatcher without bringing more people into the tent. And Christians will swallow anything-- like Bush and Cheney.

Beck's a lunatic and a demagogue and stupid people will always follow them.

NOTE TO BECK: Don't mention that capitalists are really just materialistic moneychangers, and they really think Jesus was a socialist. Which he obviously WAS. Vote for Republicans this fall at your own peril, nutcases, and be sure to buy lots of Beck's gold. You're going to NEED it! But make it in small coins so you can buy food.

Remember to vote your OWN INTEREST, not who you WISH you were. If you don't have a pile of wealth in all the right places, you're insane to vote for the interest of the top one percent.

The poor pitiful right wing. Their whole "philosophy" has been usurped by radio and TV entertainers, going all the way back to Reagan, and they like it, so innocently it is almost sweet. Senility can be cute sometimes, and it gives liberals material for satire, so rally on, pumpkins.

Glenn Beck's not so very different from other comedic entertainers who rant in evangelical mode. My fave is his Vaseline-induced tears. What a clown.

You refuse to acknowledge what is happening in this country right now, an absolute rejection of the socialist, liberal agenda that your savior Obama brought with him.

I accept that the simpletons far from a major body of water who didn't vote for Obama in the first place reject Obama, just as they've rejected any Democrat since civil rights.

But I wouldn't call that an absolute rejection, or reflective of the country as a whole.

Anyone else notice DR reichbots who've sworn all along they "don't, ever, never watch Glenn Beck" are suddenly are cued up on this topic?

Sonofa - I don't know, nor care, what Beck's rally was about. His motives are rotten and he makes it no secret. He'll turn around tomorrow and sing a different song if the thinks it will make a dollar more for him.

People can follow the rich deceitful liar who has shown repeatedly he will flip his uninformed opinion like a flag in the changing winds. They should just acknowledge exactly what he is and what his motives are. Some of us may prefer to listen to a poor prophet with never changing words.

The Govt needs to find a way to silence beck. There are so many ways to do it. I'm sure if you turn over his life with a fine tooth comb you can find a way to ruin him. If that doesn't work frame him. That would be even better. Hearing him pleading his innocence while getting 5 years in the joint.

Today's right wing is the last gasp of the "Me Generation." Us grownups are concerned about the welfare of others besides ourselves.

"There is a telling anecdote in Glenn Beck's 2003 memoir about how the cable news host was influenced by the great fantasist Orson Welles. To travel between performances in Manhattan, Beck recounts, Welles hired an ambulance, sirens blaring, to ferry him around town -- not because Welles was ill but because he wanted to avoid traffic.

"Most of us would regard this as dishonest, a ploy by the self-confessed charlatan that Welles was. Beck saw it as a model to be emulated. ]Welles,] he writes, 'inspired me to believe that I can create anything that I can see or imagine.'"

"I was reminded of Beck's affection for deception as he hyped his march on Washington..."

So writes journalist Dana Milbank, who's working on a book about this charlatan. He's understandably dismissive of Beck's self-incarnation as a civil rights advocate.

"This is the moment, quite honestly, that I think we reclaim the civil rights movement," he said this spring. "We are on the right side of history. We are on the side of individual freedoms and liberties and, damn it, we will reclaim the civil rights moment. We will take that movement because we are the people that did it in the first place."

We are? Let's review Beck's history as a civil rights pioneer, a history I've studied while writing a book about Beck.

When Beck was a radio host in Connecticut in the 1990s, his station apologized for an on-air skit in which Beck and his partner mocked an Asian American caller and used their version of an Asian accent. As a CNN host a couple of years ago, Beck interviewed Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), the first Muslim elected to Congress, and challenged him to "prove to me that you are not working with our enemies."

President Obama, who Beck says was elected because he isn't white, is "moving all of us quickly in slavery," Beck has asserted. On his radio show, he declared that "you don't take the name Barack to identify with America. . . . You take the name Barack to identify with . . . the heritage, maybe, of your father in Kenya, who is a radical." He accused Obama of seeking "reparations" from white America, seeking to "settle old racial scores."

Beck has spoken on air about "radical black nationalism" in the White House and "Marxist black liberation theology" influencing Obama. He has further determined that the New Black Panthers have "ties to the White House in a myriad of ways" and are part of Obama's "army of thugs."

This is not quite the ideal background for a man who would claim to be King's heir -- and that's where Orson Welles comes in.

As Beck points out:

First, Beck employed the hand of God in justifying his decision to co-opt King. He said he chose the date without knowing it was the anniversary of King's march, claiming it happened because of "divine providence."

Second, he invoked some selective history, using his Fox News show to deliver a three-part series updating the history of the civil rights movement. "How has the Democratic Party assumed the mantle of defender of minorities, if you know their early history?" he asked. "Dating to Andrew Jackson -- this is the 17th century . . . ."

Seventeenth century, 19th century, whatever. He informed viewers that "it was the GOP that took the lead on the civil rights" cause.

Finally, Beck updated the meaning of the civil rights movement so that it is no longer about black people; it is about protecting anti-tax conservatives from liberals. Civil rights leaders, he said, "purposely distorted Martin Luther King's ideas." Over the past century, Beck reasons, "no man has been free, because we've been progressive." To his followers, he says: "We are the people of the civil rights movement."

All that is left is for Beck to drive around town by ambulance.

Way to go, Dana Milbank. Can't wait for the book.

Dana Milbank's book, "Tears of a Clown: Glenn Beck and the Tea Bagging of America," will be published Oct. 5.)

They're First-Person Singularists: I, Me, Mine.

They have also got quite a fantasy life if they think they can ever join that top 1% they adore so much, along with worshipping that fictional entity called a corporation.

Absolutely. I guess it's the fantasy that they, too, may someday be ricos that keeps them under their masters' thumbs. Sad, pathetic, and deeply dangerous.

Yeah, dangerous because they think it is the ebil gubmint dat be keepin' 'em in de shack 'stead of de Big House.

Jackass sez: "The Govt needs to find a way to silence beck. There are so many ways to do it. I'm sure if you turn over his life with a fine tooth comb you can find a way to ruin him. If that doesn't work frame him. That would be even better. Hearing him pleading his innocence while getting 5 years in the joint."

CAN ANYONE BETTER ILLUSTRATE THE TOTALITARIAN DREAMS OF THE MODERN PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT?

Democrats - your party has been co-opted by radicals.

Beck must be destroyed because he speaks out against bloated government and the current regime.

Does anyone doubt the "Jackass"s of the world would do this if they can only get that pesky Constitution out of the way?

You let us peek under the mask Jackass, big mistake.

Big-Gov progressives like Obama are not far enough along in the Alinski process to openly advocate for Socialism.

Anyone read "Rules for Radicals" by Saul Alinski?

It's the Obama playbook. You should get copy Jackass.

Anyone read "Rules for Radicals" by Saul Alinski?

It's the Teabaggers' playbook.

Lon, you guys are the radicals with your hatred of the government. Go back to post #75 and read that. Bush's emasculation of the FDA is another example of rightwing extremism.

The Govt needs to find a way to silence beck. There are so many ways to do it. I'm sure if you turn over his life with a fine tooth comb you can find a way to ruin him. If that doesn't work frame him. That would be even better. Hearing him pleading his innocence while getting 5 years in the joint.

exactly the direction the country is headed in and why there is growing dissent with dems and this administration.

You liberals are getting yourself all worked up and revealing yourselves for what you are. The arrogance is breathtaking.

Let's see, a summary of your comments are people who disagree with the socialist agenda are stupid (lol I'll put up my degrees against any of you), somehow you are mindreaders in divining Beck's motives (how about the speakers at the rally, are their motives different?), the government needs to silence Glen Beck (seriously? and you call the republicans Nazi's?)and the absolute disgrace of a comment suggesting that Jesus was a socialist.

I know it's a difficult time for you with your days in power crumbling. I sense a desperation in your posts. But remember this fact, the Republicans were thrown out of power for abandoning their principles, the Democrats are being thrown out of power for enacting theirs.

The right-wing stupidity in this thread is stunning. The funniest part is their use of Jackass as barometer of "liberal."

You'd think his name alone would be a clue.

Jackass is an anarchist.

As usual, folks on the right have a problem with definitions (see Socialist, Communist, Fascist, Marxist, etc.)

the left-wing stupidity in this thread is stunning. the funniest part is their use of obama as a barometer of hope and change. you'd think his actions alone would be a clue.

Danforth, Yav,

Care to point out where I am stupid in my posts? Please enlighten me.....

That was easy.

"Care to point out where I am stupid in my posts?"

There's a difference between a liberal and an anarchist.

The obvious joke is that Beck turned his back to G-d long ago and now is seeking others to follow him down that path, but I won't be the one to make that joke.

There's a difference between a liberal and an anarchist.

That just ruins the false attribution and straw-man fallacies.

Beck and Palin, wow there is a brain trust. Greedy and Self Centered should have been the billing for the "event". Beck wouldn't have been there if he didn't see a way to line his pockets from it by somehow fleecing the sheep that showed up and Palin was there to prove she still matters (to herself). Anyone that supported this thing is a fool.

Glenn Beck is Lewis Prothero.

www.youtube.com

Yav, Danforth,

Touche, I guess I should have addressed my response to individual posters rather then to the collective DR posters. So as liberals, can you please give your position on the content of Glen Beck's rally without any of the points made by the anarchists?

"can you please give your position on the content of Glen Beck's rally without any of the points made by the anarchists?"

My post from another thread:

I never cared about the date or the location. Beck's overly dramatic descriptions (...two flights down, as it should be...) were pretty silly, but his suggestion they were reclaiming the civil rights movement was simultaneously ludicrous and insulting.

ever vacationing obama just bitch slapped by the sheer massive numbers of angry americans. as state run media continues to dilute the actual number in attendance, pictures speak volumes of the growing disenchantment with this arrogant, floundering, and inept administration. dems are headed for the woodshed this november.

My issue with Beck was his lie of "I had no idea."

You don't go to the same place, on the same date, and bring the niece of the same guy unless you know.

He has a staff. Not one person said "Um, Mr Beck...we may have an issue with the date?"

another example of putting someone in charge who doesn't have a clue what they're doing.

No OUtback. I am not putting anyone in charge but Beck.

Beck picked the place and the date and the speakers.

Beck picked MLK's niece to speak at the event where MLK made his speech on the anniversary of the speech.

I am calling bullshit on Beck claiming ignorance on the issue and am pointing out that it is not just him, but rather an entire staff of people who we are supposed to believe didn't know the date.

he had a plan and he implemented it. successfully. the rest is just...politics.

Danforth,

OK, the civil rights issue was a piece of his rationale for the rally and the actual quote was that the rally meant to reclaim the civil rights movement "from politics". The point being in part that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have hijacked the movement to continue to cause division fighting for social justice policies versus juding others by the content of character. We agree to disagree on that point. Many may find that insulting (as you have stated you do) but in my opinion I think it is hardly ludicrous. The other major theme was returning the country to its fundamental principles and more of a returning to God. Again, this may be offensive to some but not to a huge number of Americans.

Have a great Sunday.

he had a plan and he implemented it. successfully. the rest is just...politics.

And politics is theater. We agree.

His event means nothing and the counter protests will mean nothing in the long run.

Beck supporters will continue to support him and those who hate him will continue to hate him.

for people like al sharpton and jesse jackson, the agenda is to always keep the mindset in 1969.

Going back to their highschool quarterback days?

Kanrei,

The event may have meant nothing but you must admit turning out 300,000 (NBC) to 500,000 (Skynews) people for a rally on any cause certainly means their is an intense sentiment about the issues presented. The mainstream media continues to ignore it (Sunday shows on education, 5 years since Katrina, with no or passing mention of the massive rally) but the independents, those critical to elections, are not listening to them anymore and have many other outlets to get their news.

There is a huge backlash coming in November.

To what depths will you go?

"the actual quote was that the rally meant to reclaim the civil rights movement "from politics""

Then please feel free to describe the civil rights Beck was fighting for yesterday.

Beck's a fucking retard. Someone made the aspersion that libs have never watched him - I have. A babbling baby, crying his visine tears while he links a corporate whore president to communism, accuses him of socialism and fascism at the same time, all in some bubble chart on his blackboard.

Beck and his ilk continue to support big brother, anytime it gives more rights to it's corporate owners or the military complex partnered with them. He talks about supporting our soldiers, while grouping with the same people who continue advocating sending them to their deaths in useless endless wars. They only want smaller government when it comes to social safety nets, education, and investing in society and it's future, larger anytime bills come along like the patriot act to help them keep the poor wage-slaves in their place - without rights or recourse from the ever-expanding police state, that moves too exist more and more for the sole-purpose of backing the new upper-class citizen: the corporation.

Rightards can't stand the thought of a European socialist model, where people, education, society, healthcare and infrastructure are invested in, rather than the top 1%. They'd rather see that percent flying in helicopters over the slums, barrios, favellas, or whatever they will be called when they have their way and we hit third-world status. And the whole time, keep telling the people to trust in god, cause he's a calvinist, and if they're good people, he'll make them part of that 1%
Retards.

Sure, it was Martin Luther Kings own words, judge a man not by the color of his skin, but the content of his character. That fundamental principle was one of the themes. Can you find something in the text of the rally that voiced something anithetical to that?

The irony is that we haven't reached MLK's goal yet since we elected a president based on the color of his skin and not his character or past accomplishments.

No, it was character: out of everyone running, he was the only one who had any.

The mainstream media have relevance to only one group and that's the left. We'll probably need stimulus money in the future to prop them up and keep them in business.

The mainstream media have relevance to only one group and that's the left.

The mainstream media have relevance to most of the average Americans as they don't spend the hours every day tearing apart every single story like we do. The average American works, watches news maybe 30 minutes a day (15 minutes in the morning with coffee and 15 minutes with dinner), then watches American Idol, Jay Leno and goes to sleep.

No, it wasn't character; he was a character, a media/marketting creation without experience that could give the ruling elite another puppet to swing on the strings and allow the banks and other powerful lobbyists maintain their power.

I'll agree with that statement; even Jackass shows some modicum of intelligence at times. However, having said that; there are individuals close to me that are finally awakening themselves from their ignorance and passivity and are getting involved in ways I couldn't imagine just a few months. ago.

Sadly, Matsop, there probably is a backlash coming in November. The left has reached a point of being a little dispirited, what with a weak president with no balls who can't push a single truly liberal thing through congress, but somehow gets every last thing mixed in with right wing insanity, such as a healthcare bill that, rather than offering a single-payer competitor to insurance actually puts more people on their roles, just paying into that sinkhole of overhead.

Yet somehow, the right's leaders have managed to convince the their faux news followers, trailer park denizens, and other middle-school drop-outs, that this is socialism, and that they need to get more money to rich people quickly, before our nation collapses and the muslims take over. Sheep, passing a bill to deregulate fences so wolves can guard them more effectively.

Sadly, there probably will be a backlash in November. Hopefully, we'll still have paved roads and libraries by the time all that evil socialism gets dealt with.

"There is a huge backlash coming in November."

How's that permanent Republican majority thingy working out for you?

"Sadly, there probably will be a backlash in November."

And when the weatherman predicts a 90% chance of rain, is anyone surprised when it does rain?

Any student of political history knows all about the yin-and-yang of politics in this country.

Even the laziest can look at the history of mid-term elections in the first term of a president and see a pattern and predict accordingly. Mix in the state of the economy and one's prediction, like the weatherman's 90% prediction, becomes "prescient."

CAUTION dude, you are being sucked into the "sharpton zone" where EVERTHING is racial politics . .

Aug 28 seems like a good pick for working America attendance

a) weekend, summer's end, kids back to school after Labor Day
(working Americans, ya know)

b) Labor Day weekend in DC is concerts & festivals

c) NCAA football begins Sept 2

d) NFL is preseason, no MLB playoffs yet

the crowd likely have been waaaaay larger if Aug 28th weekend didn't kick-off HS football and conflict with NASCAR Bristol 250

odd how the Aug 28th MLK significance wasn't noticed til recently
opps, Sharpton & JJackson got skunked then shunned by Alveda King who threw in with Beck

I am on the left and I support America. Who is this man to say that I don't love my country! He is a divider of our people! He seeks to alienate large groups of our people! He is the definition of Tyrant! United we should stand against Mr. Beck.

I can't believe so many sheep follow that nut case.

Some folks are just slow.

If one is in the tea paty, he knows nothing about God.

God would not condone tea party antics.

John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

So these people in the tea-party are not true desciples.

There are two people in the world
servants of God
or servants of the world and themselves

they are self-serving liars.

There is a lot of free money in religion.

where there is free ,money, there is organized crime.

All large churches are controlled now by organized crime at the highest level.

Luke 13:26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
Luke 13:27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
Luke 13:28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

Organized crooks are not going into heaven.

Trusting your pastor will get you lost

changing your life to do right will get you on the right road, and if you talk about that in any large church today they will throw you out.

All good people are not in a church, they wouldnt last, telling the truth.

The most certain way to get lost is to join a large church, Do what they say and stop studying your bible and trust the pastor.

Anyone who has a large church is NOT telling the truth, they are telling things for itchy ears, that peop;le want to hear, ;like YOUR SAVED!
when you aren't, so you'll relax. That is the trap..

So, this thread, Beck says TURN BACK TO GOD...

What he could said was TURN BACK TO YOUR CHURCH AND BRING MONEY, cause we run all of them and we like money!

He should have said
TURN BACK TO YOUR BIBLE and leave your corrupt distraction group, live rightously, give up sin, live selflessly and die for the right.

anyone preaching truth would loose their parasitic support.

#173 RICHARD

..The most certain way to get lost is to join a large church, Do what they say and stop studying your bible and trust the pastor.
How are you defining "large" and what precludes someone from reading their Bible, regardless of the size of their church?

Anyone who has a large church is NOT telling the truth, they are telling things for itchy ears, that peop;le want to hear, ;like YOUR SAVED! when you aren't, so you'll relax. That is the trap..

What is required for salvation? And why is a large church necessarily better or worse in terms of leading others to Christ?

What is required for salvation?

One thing only and according to Paul, the same thing as was required in Abraham's time; faith in God.

All man's works, will, or effort is as dirty rags.

Which I take Richard to mean are multiplied in bigger churches. A generalization, though not without merit.

And when Jesus spoke of hypocritical Pharisees as "whited sepulchres", painted white on the outside, but inside all full of dead and unclean things, he could have added, Like Glenn Beck.

CORKY,
Discounting Beck for just a moment... do you think there are any Christian conservatives or Republicans who feel the same way Beck does... and who aren't phony (or whatever term you wish to apply to Beck)?

Sure. There are well-meaning albeit misguided people of all stripes everywhere.

It's just that with GB, one would have to overlook so much intellectual ignorance and emotional instability as to stretch the concept of "well-meaning" into oblivion.

"It's just that with GB, one would have to overlook so much intellectual ignorance and emotional instability as to stretch the concept of "well-meaning" into oblivion." - CORKY

Are you of the mind that people can change? Can someone formerly on drugs or drinking ever be taken seriously for anything, ever... no matter how long it's been or what they've done since then?

I mean, I know you disagree with Beck on 99.99% of everything. And you'd disagree with me most all of the time, also. But do you discount one's entire life based on the past, no matter how bad?

Beck's not my cup of tea. I agree with much of what I understand him to advocate. As you know, my style isn't that of Beck, Rush or Hannity. Regardless of one's STYLE, the substance remains, no?

Or, in other words, are you shooting the message or the messenger?

Yep, and voters are slow. That's why Obama was elected and that's why the Republicans will take back Congress in November.

Are you saying this out of frustration?

To continue with the explanation of the strawman...

Unemployment, recently, is caused by companies pulling back and hording cash. Why? Obama policy.

The strawman argument that's in voters' minds is when is Obama going to do something about unemployment?

And Beck's financial backers are a 'terrorist supporter/2nd largest owner of NewsCorp/Fox' and the Koch brothers, who have poured $100,000,000 into this phony baloney 'grass roots' movement. Their father was the main money behind the John Birch Society.

Sounds like a winner to me.

Mysterytoy-
Well, you know that the alleged terrorist allied funding for the mosque in NY is allegedly coming from the actual second-largest shareholder in FoxNews, not that you would hear that from Beck or FoxNews....

re: Beck rawks! He always talks about the founder's intention and history...

Of course he does. He also cries a lot, and to people completely ignorant of history and swayed by the tears of a huckster he's pretty convincing, but only to them (you).

This makes no sense.

I know that Beck puts a lot of emision into it, but you think he's lying?

Wow!

How low are you going to go?

When the Tea Party became a threat to Democrats you started lying about them. Now you're lying about Beck. Is he a threat?

The Anti-American swine hated the Boston Tea Party too.

That is 100% myth that is tossed out by the DNC spin machine to *cover* the fact that the mosque project is in FACT the brainchild of the US President. Now that IS a fact.

PHESTERINGBOIL

Where did you hear that?

"Brainchild of the US President"?

BWAAAAAAA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

"The average American works, watches news maybe 30 minutes a day (15 minutes in the morning with coffee and 15 minutes with dinner), then watches American Idol, Jay Leno and goes to sleep.

Yes... Just like good little hamsters...

"Thtoopid Did NOT Die With Lokisfur!"

Nope... still alive and well in the form of phesterOBoyle, eddie, rightnut.....

Phester

Who is the 2nd largest shareholder of NewsCorp?

Tag 'em and bag 'em, Ted!

"The Anti-American swine hated the Boston Tea Party too."

Phesterboyle has no idea what the original tea party was even about.
None of the Teabaggers do. Their rallies represent exactly the opposite of the beliefs of the original tea partiers.

For Glen Beck, a Mormon, to try to connect himself to the King and civil rights legacy is the height of hypocrisy. The loony Mormons believed that black shouldn't be in their church in any leadership position. Now America's most famous Mormon is trying to revise history. Next, he is going to say that slavery and Jim Crow didn't exist. Stick to your tea bagger strategy and don't try to proselytize the masses.

Until 1978 it was the policy and practice of the Mormon church (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) to bar those with black African ancestry.

Martin Luther King was assassinated on April 4, 1968.

Beck is a lying hypocrite and his followers are idiots.

Beck wou;dn't know who God was if he wasstruck by lightning.
Also, maphia don't know who God is. They think they are covered with their penances and they are not.

When the Tea Party became a threat to Democrats you started lying about them. Now you're lying about Beck. Is he a threat?

Personally, I see the Tea party as a bigger threat to the Republican party than anyone else. Seems more and more like the Tea Party identifies with Republicans. Swing voters are scared of them and their crazy assed ideas...

One need not lie about the tea partiers... just listen to the representatives who are interviewed...

Maybe I'm just not current on the news, but where the hell were all the tea partiers when W. spent money like a drunk GI at a topless bar?

Hey, phester, got any links on this fact?

They were protesting taxes and government oppression. Ok so what is different this time? (hint) This is precisly why it's called "the Teaparty"

See how you black boot thugs learn things here?

Does RCade pay you to brighten up the day with unintentionally hilarious posts?

Oh, and phester, remember Exodus 20:16.

Wouldn't want you to be guilty of pissing on God and anything righteous and holy.

I have learned that you and your gang poo-poo any link that is poasted unless some left whine-gar poasts it.
You continually ignore the facts or twist and manipulate them.
That is also a fact.

A lot of hatred here between Americans here. No one here sees this as a problem? No civility anymore?

Both sides are showing very poor judgment. We have gotten to the point were we no longer care to listen. You should just start from the top and read down. Think about what has been said. Would you want your children to bicker with each other and use these words? Can't at least speak as if someone other than yourselves mattered in this world.

Piss on God and anything righteous and holy. We have a God right here in Mr. Hussein.

Must be late in your day, or perhaps the meds are wearing you down, but, surely, you can do better than that, Phester. Let me see if I can help get you rolling:

"Piss on God and anything righteous and holy. Brothers of blood, the invisible images of vast horror lie within. Let us hang mutilated, stale animals with the veins of Jeezus. The wicked child lays in a shallow, crowded grave in that unholy blace where the black -- get it? -- sacrifices are performed. Here, yes, here is where He finds sanctuary under thy bed in the dark -- get it? -- of the night and scareth thee into pissing thyself with terror. For he revealeth himself, yea, as the Seal be broken, and his middle name shall be 'Bob.'"

You really are a caution, Phester.

I'm really glad that I brighten your day Doc. Too bad you guys have to wait till late in the day but not being a stuck-to-the-gubmint-teat lib person, I have to work.
I suppose I *could* poast from work but I consider that to be stealing time.
BTW is anyone *Here* stealing time from their employer? Or is your sitting on your flat ass poasting on the DR considered some inflated liberal sense of entitlement?

Exactamundo.

I hate to burst the right-wing's bubble here, but I went to the rally. There were most certainly not 300,000-500,000 people in attendance. There were an awful lot of people sitting in lawn chairs, others sitting on blankets that were spread out, and many others taking up way more space than is allotted per person for counting crowds (I'm talking about you, obese family from Austin who were flying the Texas flag upside down).

That said, the amount of people that were there was an impressive amount. I don't know why Beck can't be satisfied with a realistic number as opposed to inflating it. Though I'm not shocked by Michele Bachmann's "no fewer than a milion" estimate. She's fucking nuts.

Check out the the estimate from the same guy who estimated only 800,000 for Obama's Inaugural (much to many liberals' chagrin). He used the same methodology from his aerial photos to estimate only 80,000 at Beckapalooza. stevedoig.com

I don't think you did.

They were expecting 80,000 and at least 80,000 showed.
