Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Friday, August 27, 2010

Glenn Beck's decision to hold a rally in DC on the Aug. 28 anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s historic freedom march has prompted a counterprotest: Glenn Beck is Not Martin Luther King Jr.: "On August 28th, I will stand with Martin Luther King Jr.'s vision of a just, diverse and equal society. I do not stand with Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin and their attempt to destroy and distort King's vision."

Get yer hate on now, leftoids!

Hell, what's the point of going if you can't rock your carbine or your "niggar" sign on the mall?

I want you to read the headlines today. I want you to read...I want you to read...about the Stock Market. I want you to read about housing sales. I want you to read about the past 30 months we've added 4.4 TRILLION dollars to our debt. I want you to read up on the Weimar Republic. I want you to read about Oakland...and how Oakland now won't come to your house. You call the police? You're being burgalrized? You have someone breaking into your house? They ain't coming.

I want you to look at the newspaper. I want you to ask yourself: which politician will pull us out of this? Then I want you to ask yourself - do you have faith in man or God?

If you put your faith in man, God bless ya. I can't wait to see the solution.

But if you don't I'd ask that you consider...it's not right for everybody... and I don't buy it as an investment... although it's been the best investment I've purchased...

Call Goldline. 1-866...

Somebody have a quote where he said he was?

Glenda is NOT Martin Luther King, Jr.

Beck's holding this on the anniversary of the "I Have a Dream" on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial is outrageous. Especially since Beck's a racist fearmonger.

Hans is just stirring the pot.

Glenn has said from the beginning of the 8/28 rally, that he didn't know the significance of the date when he planned the event. He wanted to do his "Restoring Honor" rally on 9/12, but that is a Sunday.

The left will try to make as much hay as possible over this.

No, not really.

You just confirm all that is wrong with the left. Their CONSTANT attacks of Americans on the right and the fact that there isn't room for differing opinions in this country by leftwingers, such as yourself, is pause for concern.

Glenn Beck: "Historian" for a Troubled America
Joseph A. Palermo
www.huffingtonpost.com

Beck, Goldberg, Shlaes and others seem to be pursuing a long-term project of their own to misinform their rather gullible audiences into believing that anytime a government imposes limits on the ability of private business (especially giant corporations) to exploit the country's land and labor it is an attack on individual "liberty." It's the identical argument that the representatives of corporate trusts deployed at the turn of the last century when they demanded the "freedom" to do anything they wished. In the wake of the Wall Street financial meltdown and the Gulf of Mexico oil spill catastrophe, both brought to us by the less than benevolent actions of unrestrained corporate power, Beck's views are not only stupid and false, but dangerous.

But one of Dr. Beck's main pet peeves is his belief that the "founders" intended the United States to be a Christian nation and the idea of a "wall of separation" between church and state is a myth perpetrated by secular liberal elites. It's not that Beck is wrong about the ambiguity of the personal beliefs on the subject by the founders, but he and others like him are monumentally wrong by overstating the relevance of the intent of 18th Century views on the thought and practices of 20th and 21st Century America.

Gordon S. Wood, in a June 2006 edition of The New York Review of Books, writes: "We can't solve our current disputes over religion by looking back to the actual historical circumstances of the Founding; those circumstances are too complex, too confusing, and too biased toward Protestant Christianity to be used in courts today, and most of them are remote from or antagonistic to the particular needs of the twenty-first century. We do not, and cannot, base American constitutional jurisprudence on the historical reality of the Founding. . . . What Founders' intent should we choose to emphasize? That of the deistic Jefferson and Madison? Or that of the churchgoing Washington and Adams, with their sympathies for religion? Or that of the countless numbers of evangelical Protestants who captured control of the culture to an extent most of the Founding elite never anticipated?"

In the modern era the Supreme Court had little choice but to build on the idea of a "wall" between church and state, not because the learned men at the dawn of the Enlightenment had expressed their own contradictory views on the subject, but because of the social pressures and prerogatives of the contemporary period the Justices themselves were living through. The United States Constitution is a "living document" no matter how often Beck and others repeat the lie that it isn't.

Excerpts from Palermo's article:

Beck, in all his disquisitions about the founders' intent and the church/state divide, never mentions the social and political context of 18th Century America that informs his interpretation. He never engages his esteemed colleagues among academic historians preferring instead to dismiss the whole profession as part of the liberal-Democratic-progressive elite that is trying to impose its godless agenda.

And this brings me to the most fascinating aspect of Glenn Beck: Beck as Historian. To explain his novel historical theories to his viewers Beck assumes the affect of a university professor. When Beck sports a tweed-like blazer and rests his spectacles on the tip of his nose, eyes peering over his glasses, he's impersonating the archetype of a professor that is widely familiar in the culture from movies and TV (if not from actual colleges and universities). Even in an era of erasable markers and PowerPoint he uses a chalkboard for heuristic purposes. The semiotician in me sees the chalkboard as far more than a mere stage prop. Given that Fox News has access to the most sophisticated and blaring computer graphics to drive home its political points, Beck's use of the chalkboard is remarkably low-tech (even inside a very high-tech television studio). He's the only TV personality who uses one. The chalkboard signifies scholarship and learning. His studio is transformed into a classroom and his audience becomes a class full of eager students. Beck becomes a professor -- specifically, a history professor. Covered in chalk dust and ruffling through his lecture notes, Beck exudes a certain power that derives from the teacher/student relationship that is timeless even though he and his producers are deploying this demeanor as nothing more than a pseudo-educational propaganda tool. Writing in Time magazine recently, Beck's ideological soul mate, Sarah Palin, praised him for exactly this type of professorial playacting. I suppose historians should be flattered that even Fox News recognizes the symbolic influence of our profession.

In The Use and Abuse of History, Frederick Nietzsche famously identified three kinds of history: the monumental, the antiquarian, and the critical. Beck does a little bit of each, but he is truly a practitioner of the monumental variety. "Monumental history lives by false analogy," Nietzsche writes, "it entices the brave to rashness, and the enthusiastic to fanaticism by its tempting comparisons. Imagine this history in the hands -- and the head -- of a gifted egoist or an inspired scoundrel; kingdoms would be overthrown, princes murdered, war and revolution let loose, and the number of 'effects in themselves' -- in other words, effects without sufficient cause -- increased."

(Continued...)

The wide dissemination of Beck's views wouldn't matter much if the United States were in better shape today. But the status quo that is emerging cannot help but create a highly volatile electorate for years to come. Class lines are hardening, mobility is stifled, unemployment will remain near double digits for many years, there is a sea of angry voters who are susceptible to jingoistic appeals and conspiracy theories (like the ones Beck promotes). The ongoing fiscal crisis at the local, state, and federal levels has led to the heartless rollback of public institutions at exactly the time when they are needed the most. And it is in this dreary context where Beck each night on television twists the meaning of the terms "empathy," "progress," and "social justice" into buzzwords deployed by those who want to turn the United States into a Nazi/Communist/Socialist/
Totalitarian State. No wonder he has become the Joan D'Arc of the Tea Party movement.

It's fascinating that in an era where far-right ideologues like David Horowitz and affiliated organizations like "Accuracy in Academia" constantly scream about how terrible academia is and how "tenured radicals" have usurped the once noble purpose of the university still drift toward creating a fake scholarly environment for their propaganda. Like the recent Texas School Board decision purging textbooks of ideological impurities, and Jonah Goldberg writing a "book" with all the trappings of footnotes and sources, or Liberty University conferring an honorary doctorate on Beck, Beck's shtick is a backhanded nod to the relevance of history as a discipline and to historians not only as educators, but also as the keepers of the nation's myths. We historians have more power in the culture than we often give ourselves credit for.

"The location and date makes it very hard to believe BEck didn't know."

To me there is no doubt what so ever that Beck knew and purposely chose the date and place in hopes of instigating an incident, that would make him very happy if some black people became enraged enough to do something that could be considered threatening. We would see that tape on Fox News on an endless loop for days even weeks.
Black people need to remember the message of Rev. King and not be goaded into something they regret. Dr. King faced bigots in his day with non-violence, his followers need to do the same in this round.

What Glenn Beck Forgot About Martin Luther King Jr.
David Swerdick
www.theroot.com

It looks like Fox News' Glenn Beck has developed a man crush on the wrong black icon.

If he really wanted his audience to get in touch with a martyred '60s-era religious conservative who espoused a sort of anti-government, pro-Second Amendment platform, he should have planned this week's Restoring Honor rally for Malcolm X's birthday, not Saturday's anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech in Washington, D.C.

King -- bridge builder that he was -- would have accepted an invitation to speak at Beck's "March on Washington." But the anticipated crowd, including headliner Sarah Palin, might have been just a tad disappointed when they found out that King was a progressive.

As Swerdick points out, King was:

1. Pro-Labor
2. Anti-War
3. Pro-Affirmative Action
4. Anti-Poverty

Intellectually bankrupt and emotionally unstable are suitable descriptions of Monsieur Beck.

Even O'Reilly can smell the STINK on this one!

Calling for a rally on the Mall on the anniversary of the MLK speech?

That is really stirring the pot.

Beck said he did not know the significance of this date.

Well THAT I can believe.

I hope the citizens of DC treat this rally with the same level of respect they reserve for KKK rallies!

Symbols of liberty
Americans are hungry to reclaim the symbols of our liberty, hard won by an unlikely group of outnumbered, outgunned, underfunded patriots determined not to live in servitude to the British Empire. If we want to sing the national anthem at a memorial to the man who led this fledgling nation out of slavery, and made my people free, we should be able to send our voices soaring to the heavens.

Glenn Beck's "Rally to Restore Honor" this Saturday will give us that chance, and that's why I feel it's important for me to be there.

Before the words were out of Mr. Beck's mouth announcing the Aug. 28 rally, The New York Times noted that it would be at the same place and 47 years to the day since my Uncle Martin gave his "I Have a Dream Speech." When asked why he chose that date in particular, Beck said he had not realized its significance, but in thinking about it, he saw it is an auspicious day to rally for the honor of the American people. He has said, and he's right, that Martin Luther King didn't speak only for African-Americans. He spoke for all Americans, and his words still ring true.

Other groups are planning rallies and demonstrations in Washington that day, and freedom of speech gives them the right to do so – and to criticize me for not jumping on their bandwagon. But Uncle Martin's legacy is big enough to go around.

www.csmonitor.com

So MLK's niece is speaking at Beck's rally--hmmmmm

So MLK's Niece is a planned speaker at the event on the day and at the place Beck claims he didn't know had a link to MLK? Interesting.

"Allowing gay couples to marry amounts to "genocide" and will lead to the "extinction" of the human race, said the niece of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. at a National Organization for Marriage rally in Atlanta on Saturday."

I don't agree.

A grass roots campaign is never going to build enough momentum to win the number of elections it needs to change the direction of Washington.

Unfortunately, you need money to win the top elections. And with that money comes corruption of the neocon nature.

The message is correct, but the method has problems.

Beck's views are not only stupid and false, but dangerous.

And if you believe him then you are an even bigger moron than he is.

America already has a dangerous number of seriously misinformed individuals and Glenn Beck has only made that problem worse.

Be Well.

/Back in this mutha
stage left.

To have the March on Washington honored by Beck and Palin is as shocking to liberal America as installing Jefferson Davis, president of the Southern slave states in the Civil War, next to Lincoln in the Memorial – an insertion which will no doubt be approved by Congress, and endorsed by Obama in the interests of bipartisanship, just as soon as the 14th Amendment is repealed.

The March of 1963 was actually called the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. It wasn't King's idea, but that of A. Philip Randolph who had planned a similar march in 1941. King's Southern Christian Leadership Conference was only one of five main sponsoring groups. Some of these saw the march's purpose as not high-flown talk about dreams but as harsh reproof of President John Kennedy. They accused him dragging his feet on civil rights legislation. Julian Bond's speech denouncing Kennedy's weakness was famously censored by the March's organizers.

It was one thing to force a chain restaurant in Greensboro, North Carolina, to allow blacks sit at a previously Whites Only counter; it was quite another to attack the racism embedded in the American system so savagely excoriated by the greatest American black revolutionary of the 1960s, Malcolm X, who was assassinated in 1965.

It's a matter of class war, not individual character traits. King moved to the left in the mid-60s. He had to. In Riverside Church in New York, a year before his death he gave a far more powerful speech than 1963's "I have a dream" address. He called the U.S. government "the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today… A true revolution of values will soon look uneasily on the glaring contrast of poverty and wealth.

Black politicians are well aware that most of their black constituents will stay with Obama till the end, whatever he does. So most of them remain quiet – and yield the stage to an opportunist like Beck, flanked by Ms. Palin. Malcom X, who called the 1963 March on Washington "a picnic" and "a circus," would have had a good laugh about that.

You can't argue with Lewis Black.

I love this guy--his comedy is unique.

What he offers his readers is 1 + 2 + 3 = ... and let's them fill in "4," so he doesn't have to and may claim he didn't say "4."

Doesn't 1 + 2 + 3 = 6?

Ahhhhhhh......the Anal....ooops....ANNUAL FOX NEWS Office Party is taking place.

"Doesn't 1 + 2 + 3 = 6?"

You're not sure?

Just love watching this leftie hissy fit. I can't think of much anything I'd less like to do than attend some Beck rally, but millions are steered into the right direction by Beck's simple history lessons. It is pathetic that there is absolutely NO interest by the liberal lap-dog press to uncover the truth about the current administration, and the automatic demonization of anyone that dares oppose them.

So all the tired, old, knee-jerk slams and insults mean nothing. By Monday, you guys will have a whole day of live speeches to tear apart, looking for PC violations and casual errors that you will blow out of proportion. But Obama can say he's a Muslim on TV but that is to be excused as an error and nothing else. He can say his father fought in WW-II, but oops, he meant someone else. He can say there are 57 states (but there are 57 Islamic states, not U.S. states), but he gets the usual pass. So just remember these when you go to micro-analyze anything that is said this weekend. Remember that the truth is irrelevant to you, but not to the millions that will be getting the message, loud and clear, and you are powerless to prevent it.

The idea of Beck rallying on MLK's location is like complaining about a mosque at ground zero.

Can't people just change the place they are going so it won't bother someone else?

I have no issue with where or when Beck is doing this.

My issue is with the lie of "I had no idea it was that date."

Be honest. He even has MLK's niece speaking at the event. He knew where and when it was.

I don't think it's a lie, but I do think he's stringing the left along with this line of thinking. All he needs to do to keep it alive is to keep answering trivial accusations like that.

The acknowledgement of credibility from the the Left is not what Beck wants.

You are doing exactly what he wants you to do.

How could anyone think that someone who uses Vicks Vaporub to induce a crying response would lie? It's all about honor with him.

What difference does it make if it's a lie or not?

You are going to hate Glenn Beck no matter what.

You mean out of context?

Isn't that a lie?

Hmmmmmm...

"You mean out of context? "

The "context" is you don't care if Beck is a charlatan, or his tears are fake.

How did "I" get into this?

I don't care if Beck is a charlatan or not. What difference does it make? I used to listen to him when he was funny, maybe 2 years ago, but he's just too full of himself now. But that's where my critique ends.

Does he have followers? Beck followers? No.

Are these people going to his "concert" as if he is a Rock Star?

Yes.

However, does the Left hate him? Yes.

There is far more negative hate emotion against Beck (the person) than there is positive emotion for Beck.

The people who are going to this rally are going because of the message, not because the love Glenn Beck.

Glenn Beck is just someone who is hosting a rally.

Is Beck going to be remembered as a leader? LOL!!!! No!

What does THAT mean?

Translation: If you don't agree with the Left, then you're a liar?

LOL!!!

Danni, you really need to accept that you hate Glenn Beck and move on.

Except for the Fucking Retarded piece. You can't say everything about Eddie without mentioning that bit of info.

Andy Daly: "Why are people so excited about this Glenn Beck thing? I'm sure at least one paranoid schizophrenic gives a speech at the Lincoln Memorial every day."

AGAIN...PLEASE keep up your lies and your little middle school insults.
it will only make us stronger and also destroy lib thinking when tea parties and such first got started...

how by next november we will all forget..

NEVER...not as long as the statist pres is living in the white house.

"how by next november we will all forget.."

You do realize that regardless of the elections in Nov. there will be another one in 2012. Your side held that majority (Rove predicted it would be permanent) but the pendulum swung, it always does. What goes around comes around and any gains Republicans make in Nov. will be for naught considering the veto pen in Obama's hand.

AmericanUnitedLeft,
I had to chime in on the Koch brothers comment early on. Taking you at face value on the $100 million to Tea Pary causes, I decided to Google them and here's something else I read:

"Koch, who, at the age of seventy, has become one of the city's most prominent philanthropists. In 2008, he donated a hundred million dollars to modernize Lincoln Center's New York State Theatre building, which now bears his name. He has given twenty million to the American Museum of Natural History, whose dinosaur wing is named for him. This spring, after noticing the decrepit state of the fountains outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Koch pledged at least ten million dollars for their renovation. He is a trustee of the museum, perhaps the most coveted social prize in the city, and serves on the board of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where, after he donated more than forty million dollars, an endowed chair and a research center were named for him." quoted from The New Yorker

Looks to me like throwing $100 million at a cause for one of the Koch brothers is like me giving $10 to a homeless guy on the street corner. I'm not saying they haven't given the money to causes that benefit their corporate holdings, but it also seems like it's no more than they give to a theater, or a hospital. And I personally would argue that $100 million spent in the name of de-throning the current administration is far more important than glossing up a theater (yeah, yeah, let the artsy-type venom flow...). Loss of a theater or museum isn't going to destroy this country. Hell, maybe if he hadn't ponied up the cash, someone could have built a mosque in it's place.

You can't argue with Lewis Black.

I love this guy--his comedy is unique.

What do you mean?

Ok well I had no idea MLK's speech was on 8/28. How would I know that? I've been out of school for a long time. Can you prove that Glenn knew 8/28 was MLK's speech day? Who cares if he knew or not.

Like a lot of the hatred towards one guy is pretty frightening. I think it shows how much trouble the USA is in. Think about it.

Why do you care? Why hate? Why waste your time? who cares. Good for him for creating a rally. I hope it works out for him. I hope people have fun. That's what life is about.

It just seems like to me that the only thing people know how to do anymore is hate one another. It's ok to disagree with people but to hate someone over what they believe?

We are truly no different then those that flew a plane into the world trade center and murdered innocent people. They also hated the people they killed because they believed differently then them.

Beck's speech will be titled:

"I Have A Scream"

Pragmtous-
I truly don't understand the hate, unless of course the person you hate is a "racist" with a "deep seated hatred of whit people...or white culture", and a "marxist", and an "anti-American" "socialist"; Like Martin Luther King....

But why hate at all? You only become what you hate.

But why hate at all? You only become what you hate.

You're right. I have no idea why Obama has a "deep-seated hatred for white people..or white culture" as the non-hater Beck said. Maybe if a bunch of white folks gather at the Lincoln Memorial on the precise day that MLK gave his famous speech you can figure it out.

BTW Pragmatous, what do you think Beck meant by "white culture"?

Looks to me like throwing $100 million at a cause for one of the Koch brothers is like me giving $10 to a homeless guy on the street corner. I don't watch Glenn Beck enough to know or care what he meant by white culture. Perhaps he's just saying his culture he grew up in? I would probably disagree and move on.

I don't live my life centered around any one person or set of ideals. I have my own brain and I can think for myself. With that said hating Beck solves nothing.

The very SAME people who were CRYING OUT LOUD last week about how insensitive it was for Muslims to build a mosque near ground zero NOW cannot understand HOW insensitive it is for Beck to hold a rally the same day as the anniversary of the MLK speech on the Mall in DC?!?

That is the most UNBELIEVABLE double standard I have ever heard of!

You have little understanding that is obvious.

MLK did not hate whitey and he was not against America.

FUCK YOU, your lies and the horse you rode in on.

Obama does not hate whitey.

Beck is a SERIOUS hater! Get your head unstuck from up your asshole and come out for a breath of fresh air once in awhile.

You like thinking about mens assholes Monstr? You are one sick fucking whitey, no wonder Obama hates you.

Well I for one ain't hatin' on no teabaggers. They're on Capitol Hill spending their stimulus money and filling DC's tax coffers as they shop and dine all over town. The expression on their faces was priceless when a few of them asked me what's the percentage of sales tax in restaurants. "10 percent," I told them. "And thanks for paying!"

This thread surely proves the left is fulla hate for anyone who doesn't think the way they do.

Still to this day one of the best radio spots I have ever heard....

www.youtube.com

Nothing wrong with beck doing his thing on the MLK day... Half of you folks are ma at us because we don't want a mosque at GZ.... But in the next thread you don't want Beck to practice free speech....

Free speech only consists of things you want to hear....

and in true liberal hypocricy form...the liberal blacks are crucifing the neice for being involved

AND yesterday on cnn...20 mins on beck with all of the obligatory name calling and insults and demeaning comments against americans who DARE to speak out...

but with every word...every sylable of hate and name calling, these people only add more to the roll.....

so please keep up your inane and childish assault on americans like the thousands who are there right now.

Like a lot of the hatred towards one guy is pretty frightening. I think it shows how much trouble the USA is in. Think about it.

#129 | Posted by pragmatous

Put it in another perspective.

If Glenn Beck was just a local Methodist Minister who was a little overzealous within his church....

If Sarah Palin was not known for her politics and was your neighbor and was rather a high school teacher and maybe even locally, outspoken for teachers....

The Tea Party represents to Liberals and Neocons a real threat. To the Libbies, the Tea Party threatens to take away the momentum of the ever growing federal Government... The money and their will being done with social issues. The Neocons are threatened by the Tea Party because of global expansion and the Federal Government is center of this success.

That's a lot of hate isn't it?

That hate has no where to go because it's aimed at an idea. But they are frustrated with it because that idea is old and sacred and can't be argued against, so the hate grows…

They've tried to undermine it by calling names, renaming, and labeling (Teabagger, Racist), but they haven't stopped the expansion or the popularity of it.

Why? The group is leaderless. There is no head to cut off. If you cut the group in half (Ron Paulers and Dick Armies), they both continue to grow independently, but call themselves the Tea Party and still have the same core values.

Now, enter Sarah Palin and then Glenn Beck (at different times). They get all of the hate of millions of people focused onto them.

The hate for these people is so extreme that it becomes nonsensical.

What if that level of hate were focussed onto a local teacher or a local minister...

think about it.

ANYTIME libs want to get the media up and running for them...as if thats a real problem...all they do is look for anything with the name palin in it...beck is gaining on that......

and look for negative reports all day from that same media,,...from attendance numbers to finding every fringe or PLANT they can possibly come up with

A BET THOUGH,....not one arrest or damage of private property regardless of how many are there........and they will clean the place up before they leave.

The very SAME people who were CRYING OUT LOUD last week about how insensitive it was for Muslims to build a mosque near ground zero NOW cannot understand HOW insensitive it is for Beck to hold a rally the same day as the anniversary of the MLK speech on the Mall in DC?!?

#131 | Posted by BetelG

Betel...

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

Are you serious with this argument? Ok. Hold on to your ass...

You are comparing a group who hates America to a group who loves America. The Mosque people came here to change America to something foreign. The Tea Party wants to keep America the way it was without the expansion.

The leader of the Mosque group hates America and won't explain his words of hate.

You say that it's the same people? LIAR! The core people protesting the Mosque are the families of the people who died in the WTC.

Glenn Beck is insensitive?

So you admit that this day is only for Blacks? You admit that the spot in front

One of the core beliefs of Constitutionalists is that America is about individualism. Not Groups. NOT THE COLLECTIVE!

So what the f&*k are you talking about being insensitive toward MLK?

good answere eddie
I look forward to his answer.

Obama does not hate whitey.

Beck is a SERIOUS hater! Get your head unstuck from up your asshole and come out for a breath of fresh air once in awhile.

#137 | Posted by Monstman

No, as I explained in an argument you can't deny, YOU are the hater.

Obama is not a hater, but as President he should slap you f*&king silly, but he does not.

Why?

He should say things to bring us together, but the last we heard from him, he did exactly the opposite!

You are full of crap Monst, so come clean or get the f*&k out!

Your hate is real and what's worse, you don't even know it.

It has been repeatedly noted that there are only two kinds of Republicans:

Millionaires

Chumps

Which one are you?

Glenn Beck issued a diktat:

None of the sheeple are allowed to bring signs to His rally.

Question: Why?

Possible answer: He doesn't trust you bozos not to step on the message he's using to make money, so you can take your freedom of speech and shove it right up your asses until he tells you it's okay to make some more signs. He's got merchandise to sell and you fools might get in the way.

Useful idiots.

neither.

I have a question for you... Let's see if you are a coward.

Are you actually paying attention?

I changed my voter reg to Republican because I wanted to vote for Ron Paul in the Primary. Ron Paul changed to Republican because running as anything other than Democrat or Republican is a complete waste of time. No one is going to notice you.

Ron Paul's choice to do this start a revolution in the Republican Party called the Tea Party movement. The movement will cause a revolution and a new way of thinking in the Federal Government.

The Democrats will start their own movement within their ranks or they will die.

So, are you paying attention? Do you want to discuss it further?

BTW, using your logic, there is only one kind of Democrat... slave.

#155 | Posted by Doc_Sarvis

That's right! Being an independent for so long, I didn't know anything about this system and didn't know what to do. I thought you just voted.

I attended the initial meeting and found that there was no support for Ron Paul (who'da think). In fact, most of them didn't even know he was there.

We voted for a delegate -- it was all new to me and I didn't know what to expect. (Someone nominated my son (hehe) because he got up and gave a lengthy talk about Ron Paul). There were people there who wanted to be voted in like they owned the meeting. I could tell who the insiders were and who the outsiders were.

The funny thing was that they held the meetings for the Democrats and the Republicans at the same school at the same time.

One Libbie guy walked by our room stuck his head in and yelled angrily, "Baby Killers!" It was shocking and funny at the same time.
At that time and the Colorado Governor's race confirms it that some Republicans in Colorado (and probably everywhere else too) who vote for someone just because of the "R" after their name harm this country. That logic can be applied to Democrats and anything else.

And, no, a primary and a caucus are not the same thing.

Why does RCade have any respect for you? You bring down the IQ of the debate on the Retort. Sad.

I'm not the one who claimed to participate in a Republican presidential primary in a state that doesn't even have a Republican presidential primary, Eddie. That fool would be -- yes, again -- you. You participated in the Colorado Republican presidential primary? What else did you do that year, Eddie? Run up Mt. Everest, leap over the Moon, find a new job?

Your behavior, Haskell, goes far beyond childish. You're delusional.

what's wrong with what Beck says?

You cleaving to it should be sufficient cuse for any reasonably intelligent person to regard it as claptrap.

"what's wrong with what Beck says?"
OMG, you really don't know.

The last time Eddie took an IQ test he wrote "No" on the line where it said "Address."

"No" on the line where it said "Address."

And "Not yet" on the line that said "Sex".

I occasionally wonder, sometimes as much as a second a month or so, about 2008ATL. And this is what I wonder:

Was he coughed up in a fur ball or shat out with a load of bad chow?

Yawns....

You got nothing you contemptible Lilliputian lush.

Or, on second thought, blasted out of a babboons bright red arse after a feast of rancid 'nanners.

'Tis a puzzlement.

It has been repeatedly noted that there are only two kinds of Republicans:

Millionaires

Chumps

Which one are you?

#148 | Posted by john47

BTW, using your logic, there is only one kind of Democrat... slave.

Eddie, Eddie, Eddie. What the hell is wrong with you? Why do people insist on voting against their interests? A vote for Socialists, Greens, or Independents is a vote for Republicans, and the irony, of course, is that your guy will NEVER win. A real argument can be made that working for non-traditional political organizations for state and local elections actually have a chance. But in a national election, all your feistiness accomplishes is splitting the vote. Remember Ross Perot, George Wallace, or Ralph Nader? That's where part of the bit about being played as a chump comes in.

"Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you."

Ahhh, yes, bring on the vitriole. It just shows that we're right you lefties! Your end is coming quickly! Hallelujah!

"Allowing gay couples to marry amounts to "genocide" and will lead to the "extinction" of the human race, said the niece of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. at a National Organization for Marriage rally in Atlanta on Saturday."

Proof that just because you are related to a civil rights leader does not mean you necessarily also believe in civil rights.

I wonder if the Reverend Martin Luther King, considering the year he was alive was against homosexuality. Will have to check...

Beck and Palin no doubt missed the irony of their 'anti-socialist' idiot minions riding government funded transportation getting to a rally at a government maintained park being protected by government funded policemen.

AU - got any links to your theory?

Last I knew, Beck paid for private security and everyone else covered the cost of getting to the Mall.

Are you falsely implying the government paid for transportation and security?

The federal government subsidize the Metro, maintain the Lincoln Memorial, and maintain the grounds at the Mall.

Those were American taxpayers at that rally, AU. You advocating for the use of public facilities by people you agree with only? if sure does look that way.

"Are you falsely implying the government paid for transportation and security?"

The Faux Scandal of Michelle Obama's Spain Trip
Falsely implying... Indeed.

The federal government subsidize the Metro, maintain the Lincoln Memorial, and maintain the grounds at the Mall.

So no real out of pocket expenses for the Beck rally, above and beyond what they normally pay everyday?

"So no real out of pocket expenses for the Beck rally, above and beyond what they normally pay everyday?"

No. It cost 100's of millions of dollars of taxpayer money.

That's what some people say.

I didn't realize that today was "Whitey Keep Your Fucking Mouth Shut Day" to show respect for MLK

"I didn't realize that today was "Whitey Keep Your Fucking Mouth Shut Day" to show respect for MLK"

Sort of like every day, lately, seems to be "Muslims move your fucking mosque" day to show "respect" for the victims of 9/11.

For those who still don't get it, let me provide an example of Beck's lunacy (from today's pre-game show):

Beck and his "historian" friend are constantly pointing to Jefferson's closing his letters with "in the year of the Lord" or "In Christ's Name" as evidence to suggest that Jefferson was somehow a closet Christian- this despite everything Jefferson wrote to the contrary, the accounts of his contemporaries, etc. Against this mass of evidence they weigh the usage of phrases like "in the year of our Lord" and can think of no other explanation.

Here's the truth: Jefferson used those phrases becuase they were convention. Beck is oblivious to CONTEXT.

According to Beck's logic, his use of the word "Saturday" signals that he is secretly a polytheist and worships the god Saturn. Why else would he use that word?! Or, why would he refer to "2010"- it is 2010 according to the Gregorian calendar, the system adopted by Pope Gregory- unless he is a secret Papist or at least a devote Roman Catholic?

CONTEXT. It's painful to watch his audience 'wonder' at the possibility that Jefferson was a Christian. A few years ago when Congressman Ellison wanted to be sworn in on a Quran not a Bible these lunatics had a fit. Yet NONE of them addressed the fact that Ellison used Jefferson's Quran- that's right, Jefferson owned and read the Quran.

The citizenry needs educating, sure, but not brainwashing by these religilous folks pushing a revisionist history of the U.S.

Those were American taxpayers at that rally, AU. You advocating for the use of public facilities by people you agree with only? if sure does look that way.

Beck and Palin's minions whine about 'the government', then have no problem getting transportation to and attending an event that wouldn't happen if not for government funding of the Metro, the Mall, the sidewalks they walk on, and the Lincoln Memorial.

Hell, Palin wouldn't have a career if she hadn't run for and won a 'government' position, not to mention leaving her gig prior to 1/3 term governor as mayor of Wasilla, where she blew through money like no tomorrow and left them in millions of dollars of debt.
