Only problem with this line of reasoning is that there would have been no fire if they had filled the pipe with cement instead of sea water which allowed methane gas to escape and start the fire on the rig.
That was the fault of Transocean, Halliburton and BP combined but from the reports I've read it was at the direction of the BP exec who left the rig and now pleads the fifth amendment when asked these questions by the grand jury.
