Despite its name, membership in the liberal online community Journolist wasn't limited to journalists. Present among the bloggers, reporters and editors were a number of professional political operatives, including top White House economic advisors, key Obama political appointees, and Democratic campaign veterans. Some left government to join Journolist. Others took the opposite route. A few contributed to Journolist from their perches in politics. At times, it became difficult to tell who was supposed to be covering policy and who was trying to make it.

Sometimes I wonder whether or not MSNBC is being recorded at the white house.

I guess Fox News didn't get the memo.

Gee, remember when Bush invited only the conservative talkers to the WH???
Apparently folks like Mysterytoy think all the righties operate without talking to each other. This is just another attempt to create a story where none exists but we'll see posts about it for weeks and then FAux News will ask why more reputable news outlets are ignoring the "story." Perhaps BECAUSE IT ISN'T A STORY!

Gee, remember when Bush

Seems that where there is any story reflecting negatively upon Democrats, liberals, the current administration, etc., it is only a matter of seconds before a libtard like Danni begins a sentence with the above. Nonetheless,

Gee, remember when Bush invited only the conservative talkers to the WH???

If that did occur, there are many differences between that story and this story. (1) "Talkers" are not considered to be genuine and unbiased sources of news; (2) Inviting someone to the White House for a singular event is not equivalent to hundreds of members of the media joining a blog and shaping their news coverage as a community.

Wouldn't expect someone who starts half of their sentences with "remember when Bush" to understand that, though.

Common practice not limited to any single President or political body. Infiltrate and manipulate is S.O.P. for these groups and has been at least since the CIA joined anti-war groups to try and steer them toward violence.

Joe,

Bush did often release "official White House statements" disguised as news reports. This is fact.

Bush did often release "official White House statements" disguised as news reports.

How does this compare to members of the media joining a blog and shaping their news coverage? Presidents will always release statements that are clearly 100% biased in an attempt to showcase their accomplishments. What does that have to do with what we are talking about here?

How does this compare to members of the media joining a blog and shaping their news coverage?

That is not what this story is about. Did you read it?

This is not members of the press joining a blog. This is members of the White House pretending to be journalists which is EXACTLY the same thing I am saying Bush did.

Yawn. If you knew anything about this story, you would know that members of the press joined the blog in question as well. The fact that you only want to talk about one particular element of this story is your own problem. Have fun with that.

If you knew anything about this story, you would know that members of the press joined the blog in question as well.

IF you knew anything about the story, you would know that Journolist was a blog ran by journalist and reporters. It was their forum.

Swing and a miss Joe.

Yawn

Truth is boring compared to your spin.

How does this compare to members of the media joining a blog and shaping their news coverage?

JL founder Ezra Klein denies that collusion is a principle of JL.

The fact that most pol-ops left JL before joining the admin officially is proof of this.

The fact that few folks didn't but that they at least didn't try to hide their agenda is another.

And yet the rtards are still faux-raging like this is a BFD.

Especially hilarious given the RW media's record in this regard.

Be Well.

I could be wrong and off base to the back and forth... But weren't all the members by invitation only? Not some open blog where anyone could join?

At least we still have honest reporting from the Washington Times.

"Political operatives on Journolist shaped news coverage"

They shaped something alright. They shaped the election. Very little news and a hell of a lot of false propaganda.
