A wedding photographer was accidentally shot dead in Sicily after asking the soon-to-be bride and groom to pose for a photo with their guns. Calogero Scimea, 45, was hit in the head in front of Valentina Anitra and Ignazio Licodia, who cancelled the wedding.

Guns don't kill people. Weddings kill people.

Second amendment gives everyone the right to own a gun but it doesn't force me to hang out with gun nuts. I avoid them like the plague. It's not that I'm so scared of their guns, it's more like they are usually assholes. Assholes with guns is not a good thing.

"I told you that was my bad side, goddammit."

i've photographed more weddings than i care to remember.

never has a gun been brought out nor mentioned... by me, to be sure.

this is idiocy.

the darwin awards have a new candidate.

This happened in Italy.

What does the Second Amendment have to do with a guy being shot to death in Italy?

Knee jerk much?

The trouble started when he asked the lovely bride if she could lower her arm, or at least get her armpit hairs combed out.

Then he told the groom to stand by his sports car so everyone would know that he was a male.

Amazing how the anti-gun pricks in American sniffed this story out from Italy isn't it? Italy could drown in olive oil and noone here would hear a thing or care if they did.

It is stupid to point a loaded gun at anything you dont intend to shoot.

And this was in Italy, why do we give a fuck here?

I'm so scared of their guns, it's more like they are usually assholes.

I'm also not scared of Gays, but I usually avoid them because they are liberal.

Can you find an anymore blanket statement?

#2 Danni> Second amendment gives everyone the right to own a gun but it doesn't force me to hang out with gun nuts.

Point #1: Danni, as usual, paints with a very broad brush.

Point #2: Danni thinks the Second Amendment is part of Italian law (apparently).

Point #3: to Danni, "own a gun" = "gun nuts".

Does Danni treat the 1st Amendment the same way she does the 2nd Amendment? If not, why not??!

When you mention Guns or Bibles in America, people start jerking their knees and many other body parts as well.

The story sounds suspicious - bears further investigation from the authorities.

Have never heard that this was a tradition in Italy to pose for a wedding pic with your gun in hand. Why would the photographer request this? A subject might make such a request but the photographer?

It is not out of the realm of possibility but it sounds suspicious to me.

No photo?

The .22-caliber rifle was one of several firearms the bride and groom, Valentina Anitra and Ignazio Licodia, were using as props during a photo session before the ceremony in Altofonte, near Palermo, Britain's The Daily Telegraph reported Wednesday.

The rifle discharged, striking photographer Calogero Scimeca in the head, killing him instantly, police said.

Police said they were deciding whether to bring negligence charges against the groom's parents because the accident happened at their house shortly before the wedding ceremony, which was canceled, the Telegraph said. The photographer had suggested using guns -- traditionally fired at weddings and festivals in southern Italy -- as props to create a memorable wedding album.

SUCCESS! Nobody will forget that one.

It is stupid to point a loaded gun at anything you dont intend to shoot.

It was stupid to have the gun loaded to begin with, let along holding it in a manner that breaks several cardinal rules of gun ownership.

It seems this is just plain stupidity all around.

Learning more about Italian weddings here today.

Apparently the Italians are bigger gun nuts than Americans.

So? Does the second amendment give everyone the right to own a gun or not? Danni simply made a statement, and you whackos think that just because this happened in Sicily, it somehow negates her point

And you'll spend the rest of your life paying me NOT to have you knee-capped.....and your dog or cat raped.

In Italy, USA?

Danni simply made a statement, and you whackos think that just because this happened in Sicily, it somehow negates her point

Yea, she made a real valid "point" It's not that I'm so scared of their guns, it's more like they are usually assholes

Code for "I hate republicans and their views because they are different than mine."

What a twat...

I once got out of a lengthy jury duty because some gun nut posed for all these weird pictures with his guns. The dude "accidentally" shot his wife during the course of trying to thwart a robbery of his jewelry store. But the prosecution contended that he was having a gay affair and that the robbery was a set up with the real intention being to shoot the wife all along. I had to fill out a 36 page questionaire about this trial and the next day and even though I had just graduated college and was supposed to be starting a new job, the judge was not going to let me out of this jury. I guess he liked my questionaire answers........

But, once I figured out what trial they were trying to assign me to, I realized that I had read about the case in the newspaper. Not only that, but I saw all these pictures of the defendent posing with his guns - in very fruity poses. And I remembered reading that they might not be admitted into evidence. So I told the judge about the pictures after he got done telling me he wouldn't let me off the jury so that I could start my post-college life (a foolish goal on my part I guess). So now the judge asked "If I put you on this jury, could you forget you saw the pictures.". I was grinning ear to ear: "I don't see how, they were pretty weird....."

I was dismissed. And very thankful that idiot gun nuts REALLY love their guns.

You made that story up...

No, nevermind, you can't make that up.

Truth is stranger...

I'd just like to add that it's stupid to even point an empty, locked, or dismantled gun at anyone. You can never be too safe with it.

When I was a boy of 5 my father the gunnery instructor taught me to shoot. His were the most succinct gun safety rules I ever heard.

1. There is no such thing as an unloaded gun.
2. Never point a gun at something you do not intend to shoot.

Any questions?

Natural selection can be such a cruel proccess!

So? Does the second amendment give everyone the right to own a gun or not? Danni simply made a statement, and you whackos think that just because this happened in Sicily, it somehow negates her point

No. What negates her point is that Italy and the Second Amendment have exactly jack and shit to do with each other. She's like you, in a way. She used a tragic accident that is the result of negligence to say something stupid.

Why don't you dream us up a scenario where the guy with the camera had a car antenna nearby.

"because this happened in Sicily, it somehow negates her point"

Let us know when the Constitution of the Unites States has something to do with Italy.

Michael Corleone would say 'don't let the Sicilian bride start the car'.

True story;

When i was in school, this kid, who i didn't really know, was about 15 or 16 and he was out with some fellows, hunting. They crossed a fence and this kid put his shotgun on the other side of the fence. He had a'hold of it by the end of the barrel. Somehow, it went off and blew half of his hand off. He had his pinky and half his ring finger left.

Teaching gun safety in my town was somehow easier to understand after that.

Firearm safety is crucial.

Some people just don't like people with bald heads.

We recognize the stupid is universal. Remember the Italians elected a guy who was even crookeder and stupider than Dubya, so expectations are pretty low.

Yeah, so did the USA, and sooo many hear still don't get it.

"Can you find an anymore blanket statement?

I can sure try. How about, "everything about Boaz is retarded"?

Unless I am at target practice...if I have to pull out a loaded gun chances are it will end badly for someone.

-D

"This is a very funny story. Thanks Sully."

Thanks. The bailiff thought it was funny too. When I was walking out of the court room, I could see his shoulders bouncing up and down but he did a pretty good job of keeping his facial expression to a slight smile.

i wonder how many crimes are prevented each year in de los estados unidos because the homeowner had a firearm handy. and i wonder how many crimes would have been prevented had the silly little libby owned a firearm.

like they say better to have it and not need, than to need it and not have it.

danni, you make everyone on here seem so much smarter.

(yuck yuck)...

"Guns don't kill people,
people with guns kill people...
err...uh....der"...

sure glad the NRA went and made guns legal
in every place from National Parks to Bars...

Nope. No potential problems there...
mmmmmhhhmmmmm.

Well at least we can hope all the pro NRA
states (Red States) just practice their inadvertent
gun violence upon each other...
(less votes that way)...

Wedding photog got shot?

Accident?

Not bloody likely!

Those guys are annoying as hell.

It was really only a matter of time.

Be Well.

The NRA can't make anything legal or illegal.

There are restrictions on where one can possess a firearm. Especially concerning CCW.

It was really only a matter of time.

Be Well.

was it one of them "shotgun weddings"?

That would splains it!

i wonder how many crimes are prevented each year in de los estados unidos because the homeowner had a firearm handy.

oh probably about the same number (i would guess even less) then got killed accidentally in gun accidents in the home because the firearm was a little too handy.

The NRA can't make anything legal or illegal.
