Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Monday, June 28, 2010

At the first day of her Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearings, Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan pledged to show the "evenhandedness and impartiality" the Constitution demands if she is confirmed. The court must ensure that "our government never oversteps its proper bounds or violates the rights of individuals," she said. "But the court must also recognize the limits on itself and respect the choices made by the American people."

I hope the GOP filibusters her, she has no business being a judge. They should have filibustered judge so-so too racist bigoted misandrist she is.

Batter up!

I hope she strikes out. This is as far from a perfect game as you can get.

They're still dicking around.

Of course you do, mitchogynist. She's a female, after all.

"I hope the GOP filibusters her, she has no business being a judge. They should have filibustered judge so-so too racist bigoted misandrist she is."

When it was Roberts or Alito and Dems threatened filibuster the Rethugs threatened Nuclear Option. This would be the perfect opportunity for Democrats to give them back their own tactic.

This would be the perfect opportunity for Democrats to give them back their own tactic.

And be hypocrites over all the reasons they gave for it being wrong when the Republicans tried it.

If I remember right, McCain was part of the gang of 14. Senator Bitme and Obama on the other hand said they would have no problem fillibustering prez nominees.

finally! Something new to get all the Rethug panties in a bunch.

Did he just say General Kagan?

Did he just say General Kagan?

As in Solicitor General. As in the person who argues on behalf of the U.S. Federal Government in Federal Court cases.

"And be hypocrites over all the reasons they gave for it being wrong when the Republicans tried it."

That was before this Congress and last year's Congress which both set records for the number of filibusters. It's time to restore majority rule.

@Mitch, thanks, I had totally forgotten where she came from.

Liberals don't even know who Kagan is or what here title is, all they care about is she is a reliable liberal vote. It figures.

Watching on MSNBC. Norah O'Donnell is one fine-looking Irish-American.

#14: you have proof of this assertion I assume.

Watching MSNBC? Well, somebody has to keep them afloat. I wouldn't want Fox News to be the only game in town.

I actually like that she is a Constitutional Scholar, an educator, and not a judge. It gives a different point of view in the discussions at the SCOTUS.

Which assertion? I think I made 2 assertions.

About liberals not knowing Kagan etc, etc.

Watching MSNBC? Well, somebody has to keep them afloat.

I love MSNBC. When I watch Chris Matthews a thrill runs up my leg.

OK, putting Kagan in the SCOTUS would be like putting soccer scholar who has never refereed a game to referee the final WCS match. You just don't do that.

When I watch Chris Matthews a thrill runs up my leg.

Are you sure it isn't a trickle running down your leg? You are kinda old after all.

#15: Rogers, Kelly O'Donnell has also been looking good for over 15 years.

Watching on MSNBC. Norah O'Donnell is one fine-looking Irish-American.

She's a hottie, no doubt. Priorities, priorities.

I just wish someone would shut him up. You know right know they have him ballgagged because he's just dying to talk over Leahy and make is own points.

OK, putting Kagan in the SCOTUS would be like putting soccer scholar who has never refereed a game to referee the final WCS match. You just don't do that.

Using the soccer analogy: Kagan is not only a soccer scholar, but also the head of one of the most prestigious soccer academies in the world and someone who has played the game. She also would not be the main referee nor the only, but one of 9.

Briwo, I can extrapolate based on your reaction to here being called "general" that many libs woll be confused but will support her anyways.

The problem with someone with no judicial background is knowing which way they will honesty judge.

Lawyers fight for the cause they are hired for - whether they agree with it or not.

Teachers tell you this and that, but what they really believe is never put to the test.

Knowing the Constitution and defining the constitution is not the same thing.

She is a dangerous choice to accept for everyone if she doesn't define her positions and whether they are correct.

Most people Mitch, I believe, don't think of the AG as a General and reserve that title for those in the military.

#28 to here being called "general" that many libs woll be confused but will support her anyways.

Please translate into English.

Extrapolate is just another word for ASSume.

also would not be the main referee nor the only, but one of 9.

#27 | Posted by kanrei

My fear is these 9 referees disagree on the rules of the game.

Even if you had action replay, their interpretation of the rules differ.

I can understand 8 against 1 and sometimes 7 against 2. But 5-4 decisions are so ruinous that we really need Congress or Constitutional Amendments to settle such scores.

#30, in this case SG.

It's no wonder nothing can get done in Washington. These windbags just drone on and on.

finally! Something new to get all the Rethug panties in a bunch.

#9 | Posted by donnerboy

Not today, Donorboy. Gun laws overturned, KKK Bryd dead, Obama developing a horrible slice. This is a great day!

Are you sure it isn't a trickle running down your leg? You are kinda old after all.

LOL. I should have a doctor look at that.

The bottom line is: the women of Fox New are much hotter than those MessNBC chicks.

This whole nomination process is expected to be nothing more than theatrics. The Right will criticize her lack of experience, the Left will sing her praises.

She will be seated as a Justice.

Maybe it is a botched bisectomy.

Kelly O'Donnell has also been looking good for over 15 years.

There are a lot of not-bad-looking O'Donnells, including Chris and Lawrence if you are so inclined. And Rosie O'Donnell has a nice personality.

... the women of Fox New are much hotter than those MessNBC chicks.

Fox News' hot blond broadcasters look interchangeable to me.

nice personality = euphamism for fat, ugly or both.

"The bottom line is: the women of Fox New are much hotter than those MessNBC chicks."

The Fox News ladies think their jobs are just like being President of the United States. I won't judge looks but the Fox women are definitely dumber than the MSNBC women.

Mitch obviously has a limited understanding of the history of the SCOTUS; otherwise he would realize that many Justices were never judges.

Why do I have to listen to Orrin Hatch?

The last Justice nominated without Judicial experience was 1972 I believe. Maybe there is a reason that since then all other justices had judicial experience, because the presidents maybe thought it would be better to have Justices with judicial experience.

Yup. Some of our best Supreme Court justices never served as judges before they were selected.

Urine Hatch? Isn't he for the DREAM ACT? Don't like Urine Hatch much.

"The bottom line is: the women of Fox New are much hotter than those MessNBC chicks."

The Neil Rogers show used to play a song that went "Fox News Heather, I really wanna fuck you." She called him on air, as in he was doing his show, and tried to interview him for her show.

Maybe there is a reason that since then all other justices had judicial experience, because the presidents maybe thought it would be better to have Justices with judicial experience.

Look at the date Mitch. 1972? I think it is more of a "Nixon Stigma" where the Presidents who followed did all they could to do nothing Nixon did.

Okay, with Grassley speaking, bring back Hatch. Please.

I won't judge looks but the Fox women are definitely dumber than the MSNBC women.

That's how the GOPers like 'em.

Hot, blond and stupid.

On the other hand, Democrats like them dumb and ugly.

Democrats like them dumb and ugly.

Rachel Maddow is twice the man you are.

I know very well who Kagan is, and I also had no idea that solicitor generals were referred to as "general." Sorry to rain on your little one-man parade.

Rachel Maddow is twice the man you are.

Glenn Beck is twice the woman Rachel Maddow is.

Glenn Beck

Speaking of dumb and ugly.

Rachel Maddow is a beautiful person and an incredibly sharp TV talking head. She doesn't just repeat the party line. All the cracks about her looks are stupid. Do you care how Patrick Buchanan or Mike Barnicle looks? If not, why do you care how Maddow looks?

Rachael Maddow is one of the few good things that came out of the "Air America Disaster" IMHO. She is honest and does not follow any prescribed point of view.

Rachel Maddow and Bobby Byrd were lovers.

C'mon! It was a May-September thing.

Kagan ought to be confirmed if she can get through the hearings without falling asleep listening to these gas bags.

That was before this Congress and last year's Congress which both set records for the number of filibusters. It's time to restore majority rule.

So you believe in Prop 8 out in CA then? The "majority" was for it. The "majority" was also against obamacare.

Shill.

"So you believe in Prop 8 out in CA then? The "majority" was for it. The "majority" was also against obamacare.

Constitutional amendments are not done by majority rule but The Constitution says nothing about filibusters. Majority rule in the Senate is Constitutional, what do you have against the Constitution?

Liberty University, lmao!

E Pluribus Dumbass strikes again.

Rachael Maddow is one of the few good things that came out of the "Air America Disaster" IMHO.

Yup. But what else good came from Air America?

But what else good came from Air America?

Well....there was that documentary on HBO? Um...well...I had Neil Rogers in Miami, so I didn't need Air America, but I am sure somewhere someone did.

Where did you graduate from? The University of Phoenix?

You know what Jon Stewart says about her???

It's about time Shrek got on the Supreme Court. After the "wise Latina woman" who never bothered to read as far as the second amendment, it's good that our first affirmative action president will be giving trolls a seat.

What's your excuse for "playing" dumb?

Senator Al Franken.

Good answer. His show wasn't scintillating radio, but it was good policy work preparation for being a Senator, and he helped build credibility for himself out of comedy.

it was good policy work preparation

LOL. It's hilarious to watch libs try to contort their fellow lefties' experiences into a respectable resume. Sort of like Tony Roma saying Obama was qualified to be president because he had run a presidential campaign.

Well we got through the gas bags..

Unless she does or says something really crazy--she will get the job.

It really doesn't matter that she isn't qualified.

The funny part is that the ABA says she's qualified--yet their requirements is at least 12 years of practicing law--which she has none.

There will be the 30 or so who may vote no--but she'll have enough to pass ...

Sieg Heil.

"she has no business being a judge."

Over 80 posts later.....feel free to jump in and elaborate any time you like, Mitch.
We eagerly await your insight and understanding.

"evenhandedness and impartiality"
And I vow to free the world of the Emerald Ash Bore, Asian Carp and Kay Gosslet.

Ugh. If Liberals are so accepting of lesbianism, why are they so ashamed of coming out of the closet? The way things are, that would paralyze her opposition as "homophobes" the way everyone opposing Obama is branded a tea-bagging racist.

How can you be "impartial" when a major part of your life is kept secret out of personal fear?

Does anyone...both left and right...believe this is the BEST person to sit on the supreme court? Do you REALLY believe this person is qualified beyond any other - especially given how many times she has been ruled against.

Or is this just ANOTHER liberal ideolog far out her depth (just like the last one...and OBAMA).

The Republicans need to stand up and Bork her - like Bork himself - a HIGHLY qualified jurist with a legal background second to none that was destroyed by the liberals and their friends in the media because they thought he would lead and tilt the court from legislating from the bench.

This one is not qualified - and if this was a Republican (similar to when Bush tried to push one of his cadre - she was JUST as unqualified as this one) she would not stand a chance.

At some point in time we must stand up as Americans and say "the Constitution is what DEFINES us as AMERICANS and we will no longer see it trampled upon by those who think the rule of law means nothing - except that THEY WANT it to mean.

This just shows how out of wack we are - and how screwed up the whole administration is.

More Kabuki theater for the sheeple.

I love it how they have Diane Feistein and Charles Schumer on TV talking like she's the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Think they have a dog in the fight?

She said her role on the Court is to represent Congress and the people. That should disqualify her, period.

believe this is the BEST person to sit on the supreme court?

No, but you wing dings would have a shitfit if the "BEST" person was nominated.

This is just another pick to represent the status quo. She is a nominee that will in the end be confirmed despite all the posturing being done by the right. It's the same old song and dance.

This just shows how out of wack we are - and how screwed up the whole administration is.

It has been that way for 30 years.

Does anyone...both left and right...believe this is the BEST person to sit on the supreme court?

Anyone qualified to serve as solicitor general has the qualifications to be a Supreme Court justice. This is largely the same group of senators who approved Kagan for solicitor general.

Pelosi, Hillary, Boxer, now this one. I am officially going against my own gender & saying enough. These fembot, (albeit not hot) man-hating hosebags are going to ruin women in politics for the next 100 years. Jesus!

She's an activist judge to be if there ever was one.

"Ugh. If Liberals are so accepting of lesbianism, why are they so ashamed of coming out of the closet?"

Because that "acceptance" means being OK with UGLY lesbians & nobody, not even the tolerant left is OK w/ that whether they admit it or not. Keep the closet closed please because nobody gives a shit who you're in bed with unless it's politically in bed, then it's our business.

If Liberals are so accepting of lesbianism, why are they so ashamed of coming out of the closet?

Elena Kagan is not a lesbian:

I would not consider her words to be true unless she has practiced them in the past, consistently.

#45 | Posted by Hagbard_Celine at 2010-06-28 01:06 PM | Reply | Flag:

Did someone put a gun to your head already?

Kagan is a shoo in with tentative support from AIPAC, and full fledged support from Specter, Schumer, Feinstein, the wealthy NYC Jewish community and of course their puppet Obama.

The media have been marching in lock step by touting her appointment for 12 months. The Party of diversity (democrats) suddenly could care less about diversity and more for preference based politics and campaign donations from the Democratic big donor rangers.

This is about the difference between a belief in America and those who believe strongly in democratic broad diversity in our justice system, against tribalism, diversity in organized religion, and against ethnic centrism ...... versus those who want a justice Kagan.

Kagan also "slipped" the mask off for a mili-second and said that the judiciary should make policy.

Note to Kagan and others like her: If you want to make policy, run for office, win and assume that office.

Don't do it through an unelected, life appointed judicial position that effects every life, every freedom and liberty we enjoy in this nation. Its fuckin' un-American to impose one's will on another (your rights end where my nose begins), to take property and liberty from another citizen because one has a need for power or to impose one's own value system or policy preferences on other citizens.

Kagan should not become a life-long judge on the United States Supreme Court, just 1 of 9 who literally have the life and death of liberty in their hands.
