Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Sunday, June 13, 2010

President Barack Obama plans an address to the nation on the oil spill disaster Tuesday from the Oval Office, his first such address in his presidency. White House advisor David Axelrod said on Meet the Press, "We now know what we can do and what we can't do in terms of collecting oil, and what lies ahead in the next few months. And he wants to lay out the steps that we're going to take from here to get through this crisis."

Sounds like he won't really be kicking so much as talking. So, in fact, he'll only be talking ass.

friday nite on mclaughlin report they were all yelling at each other as they do most of the time and I turned it off and even said out loud..
I dont want to hear people yelling, I want to see people doing something.
so if that has to be barry "GOING STREET" then so be it........

my gulf of mexico is bleeding to death.

awww well I guess it's too fucking bad that your Team believes so strongly in lack of regulation and just letting business do whatever the fuck they want to make a buck, you ignorant fucking hypocrite.

i will not even dignify the speech by watching it.

political posturing.

The President "well er um... we have a um er oil spill. Now I have complete er um control um er of the situation and um er we must keep our focus er um bush er um cheney um the previous administration um had lapse regulation and I am uh going to hope and change this all away" this guy has no clue what to do! He is so reactive to this situation it's pathetic.

Pathetic response. 2012: You're fired.

"my gulf of mexico is bleeding to death."

#2 | Posted by afkabl2

You shouldn't have let it turn into the Gulf of Texaco. You greedy bastards are as much to blame as BP. Serves you idiot Texans right. Fuck you and your oil.

The reluctant patriot spins

no need to watch . . . .
"Bush & Cheney did it - - we need more taxes - - -
ps; turn in your guns - - -
ps II; hate somebody (or a corporation)"

thx,
-0-

"He is so reactive to this situation it's pathetic."

And previous presidents were proactive about safety regulations in energy production? Hm. Methinks all he can do right now is be reactive. React, that is.

+++++

'I do not understand this sentiment. Surely oil has enhanced your life, letusprey? Do you not consume it and its byproducts? Do you disdain all products that make your life better, or just oil?"

Now this is an interesting question. And an all too common response. Let's see: Unless we live next door to our grocery store and our job and our family, we are reliant on oil for transportation. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Why is it hypocrisy (you didn't say that, but it's implied, no?) to be pissed that those who put us into this situation aren't doing better in getting us out of it? To be irked that wise stewardship have been sacrificed on the altar of greed and short-term gain? Yes, yes, we benefit from cheap energy--all of us in America do--but that shouldn't and doesn't mean we shouldn't advocate for safer, wiser technologies that are better for us in the long term. And how do you know LetUs isn't a neogreenie except for his Internet? : ) Hm. As I sit here, I have one light on; the computer on (obviously); the dryer running; and I just made a cup of hot tea. I'm way past most of the world in creature comforts. But does that have to mean I can't advocate for reduction in energy usage and wiser stewardship/production? I'm way below the energy use of huge numbers of Americas. Which means my horse is only so tall?

Oh, and I won't be able to watch it as it airs (Internet next day?). I'll be at Senior Night for the youngsters graduating Friday night--giving awards, seeing other awards given, scholarships, dedications to various important people. Celebration! And some of these youngsters might even help dig us out of the mess we currently call America. : )

Prag--what kind of tea are you drinking?

I'll listen to what he has to say....

The President: As you can see, my executive experience has kept me and this nation in good stead. I always told you being a community organizer was enough qualification for this job. Also, very important is to be able to read a teleprompter well. Furthermore, sprinkling your speeches with generalities of "hope and change" and beautiful sounding politically correct quotes and sound bites doesn't hurt---there's always the easily duped segment of our society that buys into that B.S. Even though I've used the rope a dope technique quite effectively in the past I'm going to take responsibility for this after blaming everyone else for the problem. We will have this problem under control by the 2012 election when I'll have to come up with another shtick other then "hope and change" which even the easily conned won't buy into the second time around.

I guess he will announce he has a plan on his BP Oil Spill two month anniversary.

Gulf of Texaco.

That's the funniest thing I've seen from you.

I see those pelicans soaked in oil and I think, "You're not going to throw away that oil are you?"

Can't they just put the pelican through a wringer and sqeeze the oil out of them?

Some dude was saying they would be better off dead anyway.

May crows find your head to crap on.

Two freaking months.

Bush was barbecued because it took 3 days to get to the Superdome after Katrina.

Obama had no expertise running car companies, yet he took them over.

Obama had no expertise running mortgages and student loans, yet he took them over.

Obama has been granted the authority to take over any business that it likes, should its failure (in his sole judgment) be harmful to the people.

So we finally get one of these, and for two months he does nothing but leave it up to the resources of one private company to fix the problem. He couldn't even be bothered to speak to the BP CEO. Of course, he will now so he can cover his ass with that talking point.

Thing is, there are lots of people that could do a better job at finding a solution to this huge problem, but the Obama administration is not capable of managing such a project. Policy wonks make lousy managers, and every decision is weighed down with interminable pondering by this weak incompetent running the show.

But he will sure sound strong and determined when he's on TV, reading from his teleprompter. Maybe we can put the teleprompter in charge...

All you can expect from him now are the words the left needs to hear to keep following their pied piper.

I found an advanced copy of Barry's speech in a garbage can:

"I lied about hope and change and got a PhD because of affirmative action. I never held a real job or ran anything except my mouth as a community agitator. I was born in Kenya and I am a Muslim who hates America. My buddies are all racists, Muslims and communists. I have no idea what to do about the oil spill, Iram, North Korea, or Hama. Therefore I hereby resign and turn the job over to Dummy Joe Biden. Thanks for being stupid enough to vote for me cause I didn't."

Barack Obama

MURPH: Prag--what kind of tea are you drinking?

ME: Lipton, I think. Probably serving some horrible corporate agenda that conflicts with every moral fiber of my being. : )

+++++

I'm surprised you say you'll listen to what he has to say, Murph. How open can you be? (I had a pretty hard time with Bush, being open I mean.)

+++++

"Some dude was saying they would be better off dead anyway."

Yes, Mystery, now that they're covered in oil.

+++++

Dinsey, you do know that he is not personally running any of those companies the government "took over," right? And if anything were up to his sole judgment, I expect he'd have achieved a lot more by now. That said, the man has allegedly done quite a bit, legislatively, so if he's really trying to ruin the country, you better move.

Kinda makes me wonder what President Obama is doing right now.

Sunday night? Probably had a bunch of paperwork to get caught up on after his five star White House chef prepared supper.

Might have played some b-ball with the kids in the White House gym or court or whatever first class facility they have. Might have even played with the dog in the rose garden... who knows with the Secret Service keeping everyone away from him so he can have some fun.

It's getting late in DC... he's probably getting ready to pack it in and crash in his five star White House bedroom, carefull prepared by a staff of dozens.

Assuming he's home, of course. He may well be on his way to (or on his way back from) some exotic foreign location in his personal use custom Boeing 747. Might just be in the motorcade limo though, if it was a local trip.

Must be quite a life, being Barack Obama, President of the United States of America.

His speeches are repetitive...campaign rhetoric...more evidence of the total lack of leadership... real leaders do not talk, they lead by 'actions'... but, with no leadership experience and poor supportive staff, we cannot expect any more from this guy...
He is LOST in this situation and will never catch up... too far behind and too little credibility to be serious to ANTYONE...his method will only cause him to pull another 'Oboner' ...!!!

While you've been making up your own 'facts' as you go, President Obama has mobilized:

- over 5000 cleanup vessels
- 26,000 federal employees to aid the cleanup effort
- 17,500 National Guard troops

This is ultimately BP's responsibility, but no one at the WH is, or has been, waiting for them to get their act together. Since the oil companies are the ones with experience at cleaning up spills, he gave them a chance. BP lied their asses off about being able to handle a 'worse case scenario' - i.e., 100,000 bbls a day spilling into the Gulf.

They're proven liars. President Obama hasn't been waiting for anything, as I listed above. More will be revealed Tuesday. BTW, tomorrow will be his 4th trip down there.

Obama's Katrina?

Fuck that. Try Chernobyl.

I wonder if this teeny, tiny hole in the ground will put a delay in the FEDS plan to lower the sea levels?

No, not so much I think. We all know they can do that easily enough.

"Waves of crude oil reached the Alabama shoreline Saturday as the Obama administration announced it has given BP until the end of the weekend to devise a more aggressive strategy for collecting oil spilling into the Gulf of Mexico. "

www.washingtonpost.com

I thought right wingers wanted the government OUT of our lives. Listen to them bitch when they (wrongly) presume nothing's being done and suddenly want the government to do it all.

As I pointed out in #29

#9 | Posted by eks

Without petroleum products he wouldn't have his plastic keyboard to bitch at people and power to make that keyboard work. Hmmmm,it might be a better alternative after all. Unfortunately, he wouldn't be able to hang on President "kick-some-ass"'s every word. Too bad for him.

I bet he'll have a teleprompter to read a speech written by someone else who has attended multiple focus groups.....

I wish politicians didn't have to lie - but we voters effectively demand it.

Whatever he says we can all bet on one thing, the right will still be partisan hacks and do their collective damnedest to destroy the only leadership this country has. They want anarchy and hell with the Gulf Coast and the Gulf of Mexico. There will be no pulling together in this new war. The moron tea baggers will see to that, but that is one thing they can't blame Obama for. They will destroy this countries leadership no matter the cost to the future of America. Thanks a load America's assholes from Texas.

I demand that he tells the truth about his citizenship when he "addresses" the nation.

He is "gonna kick some ass"...

Sounds a HELL of a lot like "Bringit on"..So where is the outrage from the leftwing hate mongers?

Running a huge International Corporation is no guarantee for wise, metered, decisions. Look at Brit, Tony running BP.
It's mis-handling of the Gulf Disaster is criminal!
Corporate experience is not a prerequisite in the Constitution to run for President.
Your pseudo Reagan W has a bad track record for running corporations.
Please go back and read the Constitution for further info.

From a right wing idiot, no doubt.

Obama writes his own speeches.

Ronald Reagan spent his last 5 years counting jelly beans and muttering 'mommy'. He was an actor who could read. That's it. Fooled you, yes he did.

US finds mineral riches in Afghanistan and will obama tell us that the real reason he's staying in Afghanistan is to steal those mineral riches.

I demand that he tells the truth about his citizenship when he "addresses" the nation.

Not 100% sure (or even 25%) that with a statement like that, you'd recognize truth.

For all the posturing done from the birthers it's amazing that you guys even take yourselves seriously let alone expect others to do so.

He could show you bonafide proof that he is what he is and you'd still reject it because this is your religion and no proof otherwise will satisfy you.

"shrug", I weep for this country...not for the Presidents we end up with, but because people like yourself actually think that someone else can do the job better.

You guys complain that he's just a community organizer, yet you expect him to have complex engineering solutions that even those in the profession cant come up with.

So what is it? Is he the retarded ineffective community organizer who has no business in office, or is he engineering god who can snap his fingers and turn off a leak that has stumped people with PHDs and have the knowledge?

You guys can't have it both ways.

"There is too much hatred within the fray."

"I think it is fair to say the left's mantra is also To hell with the Gulf Coast and the Gulf of Mexico."

Laughable. Who do you think you are fooling EKS? You are simply an Obama hater who sees the disaster in the gulf as an opportunity to make idiotic hateful comments.

So what is it? Is he the retarded ineffective community organizer who has no business in office, or is he engineering god who can snap his fingers and turn off a leak that has stumped people with PHDs and have the knowledge?

Exactly.

So tell us again how Obama expects to lower the sea levels? That seems a little harder than plugging a 10" hole.

But that's just me.

He will probably announce a new tax on spilled oil. That should reduce LA's dependency on tar balls.

Here is what the speech will be...

"Blah Blah Blah... Bad BP... Blah Blah Blah... Look at Me... Blah Blah Blah... Oh Say Can You See... goodnight America.

Obama's been to the gulf three times already, and has been engaged in this issue since day one. At least he's not strapping on a flight suit and declaring a false victory. Problems like this take time. What else is he supposed to do? Do you think the government has oil rigs, tankers, and ROV's just laying around so they can do it themselves? Even if they commandeered the ships and equipment necessary to do the work, who would be doing it? They'd HAVE to rely on BP to fix the issue.

Even if they did take over the equipment to do the job, you'd call him a socialist and accuse him of trying to nationalize the oil industry.

Face it. He's smarter than most of you, he's black, and he's done a good job of trying to steer this country in the right direction, and it bothers the shit out of you. Understood. Now get over it and shut the fuck up, or do something already other than use these threads to jerk off to each others hate speech.

I always a enjoy a good speech from ToTUS...

Maybe they can spring for some rodent traps this time.

I wonder if he'll have another evil entity for us to hate this week.

Perhaps Arkansas will be broken and we'll need to do "something"?

Perhaps Utah will be broken and we'll need to do "something"?

Perhaps soccer will be broken and we'll need to do "something"?

I am sure something will be broken and we'll need to do "something"?

It'd be nice if they could come up with some new material.

Advanced copy of a portion of his speech:

Yes, it's over, the chips are down (whoa)
Nearly all our bridges tumbled down
Whatever chance we try, let's face it widened-eye
It's over (It's over)
It's over

Too much, too little, too late to ever try again
Too much, too little, too late, let's end it being friends
Too much, too little, too late, we knew it had to end

And it's over

You meant to say that Obama will pronounce stuff to half the nation...

...the mentally sound half will be outside tending their yards, washing their cars, or playing with the kids.

You've got to admit, David Axelrod is one heck of a great ventriloquist!

The citizens concerned with what their leader is actually doing to will be paying attention to this speech. If you don't care enough about the direction this country is taking to learn what the elected leadership plans on doing, then you might as well live somewhere else.

Of course, I'm sure you'll get your talking points from Rush or Beck and you'll feel like you're sufficiently informed, which is the scary part.

Are his rounds of golf televised?

I didn't know. What channel? I just might watch him doing stuff afterall.

In the meantime, can you get back to us on his plans to lower the sea levels?

I'm sure it will be after he plugs the hole, but just curious if he still plans on using magical fairy dust or not.

Only fools and those on the take would listen seriously to what this naive young boy has to say about anything.

Which one are you?

No new news for me on Tuesday. I knew of his plan to destroy America's energy sector long, long ago.

I love it when Hugo lite orders a cadena from Miraflores. The ignorant masses need the great leaders marching orders. We know not what to do unless the government tells us what specifically needs be done, but even more importantly how to do it! We are nothing w/o his brilliant on-going leadership...

I'm sorry, but what the hell were you trying to say here?

He plays golf. Big fucking deal. Bush took weekly vacations to his ranch to "clear brush". The POTUS is required to spend his entire day in meetings and briefings where he's kept up to date on virtually everything. Do you expect him to never have any down time? What makes you thing he's not being briefed by his assistants right there on the golf course?

Where is this BS about lowering the sea levels coming from? And he's not the one "plugging the hole". He's in charge of making sure it gets done. He's also not the one who made the fucking hole. Bush and his hacks were the ones who didn't enforce the use of current equipment and BP got away with cutting corners. Look where it got us.

I would bet good money that his IQ is a hell of a lot higher than yours, and he has access to the smartest people in the world to help solve this problem.

While you're busy making assumptions (baseless I might add) about his intelligence either because he's black, or younger than you, or because he's a Democrat, the rest of us adults will be learning what our government plans on doing about our dated and dangerous energy policy.

And regarding our energy sector, it's been dominated by idiots like you who don't want to change the status quo, purely because it's difficult. Give that the Gulf is going to be ruined for years to come, I want to see our economy shift to cleaner and more high tech resources as soon as possible, even if it's painful. I'm willing to pay more for gas if it means my sons have a cleaner future ahead of them.

I didn't say he writes all of them, but he's written more of his own than any President in modern times.

That's what's been reported.

Every major speech he's given - from the 'race' speech and speech in Cairo to his Inaugural Address were written by him.

While you're busy making assumptions (baseless I might add) about his intelligence either because he's black....

Obama is only half black. What if he was making an assumption about his white half? Would that make your faux outrage level drop?

So where's Obama going to play golf this week when he's down in the Gulf?

politipage.com

Florida has some GREAT courses.

Guesses, anybody? I think he's likely to helicopter out to one of those BP oil platforms and drive a few balls into the oil sheen...

"Did you plug the hole yet, Daddy...."

"Not yet, Malia... but I'm sure trying hard..."

politicalwire.com

lol Yul. Obama has more time to play golf than Bush did. Soros didn't directly fund Bush's indoctrination, errrrr education and wasn't running the country when Bush was in office.

Also, I am not familiar with his race speech. When and where was that one spoken?

During the campaign when the Rev. Wright mess flared up.

AU, like the tingly legged Chris Matthews, feel the need to remind people how this amateur rose to power. By making speeches. The ability to speak is Obama's number one asset. Beyond that, he has nothing to point to as far as governing. Zip, zilch, nada...

Sadly that is all he has and we not only paying the price today, but I guarantee there will be more disasters and who knows, after the umpteenth fuck up, AU and Matthews may come around.

What about the lame question about McCain? Appears to be a dodge from the brilliant job Obama has done to contain the spill.

"from the 'race' speech and speech in Cairo to his Inaugural Address were written by him" - AU

No, his Cairo speech was written by a jew, by the name Stephen Cohen.

Obama is going to forbid drilling off shore and call for a massive stimulus for alternative energy.

Never let a crisis go to waste.

"What about the lame question about McCain?"

It was in response to a posted lamenting Obama's lack of success. Try to keep up.

"Appears to be a dodge from the brilliant job Obama has done to contain the spill."

And what would President McCain have done differently to have prevented or stopped the leak?

posted = poster

"It was in response to a posted lamenting Obama's lack of success. Try to keep up."

How does McCain fit into Obama's lack of success? Better yet, point out anywhere I claimed Obama could or should have prevented the spill or capped it by now? That is what you specualted, not me.

Maybe you should be asking what McCain would have done to contain the spill.

How would President McCain have prevented the leak, or stopped it by now?

#84 | Posted by Danforth

gee, that should be obvious . . .
Mac would'a simply spoken from a nearby barge until that violent roaring gusher was just a sleepy li'l trickle-drip

hell, if he spoke for more than a couple hours, the oil woulda' retreated back into the earth and sprung a leak on the other side (China)

naturally, nearby workers would use "hearing protection" so as not to become suicide-prone

"Mac would'a simply spoken from a nearby barge until that violent roaring gusher was just a sleepy li'l trickle-drip"

I like it!

Before or after the Aquaman attempt?

"Obama is going to forbid drilling off shore and call for a massive stimulus for alternative energy."

And the problem is...? Okay, stimulus is dangerous, but why not restrict offshore drilling. This deepwater shit is fucked up, to say the least. When an accident like this can occur, maybe the activity itself is foolish.

"Maybe you should be asking what McCain would have done to contain the spill."

What...laid in the ocean until the oil all soaked into his dry, dry skin?

Don't blame Danfroth. He wants to know what McCain would have done. He certainly wouldn't have ignored the Danish offer to help along with many others, pissed off the Brits, and be a laughing stock in our eyes. All McCain would have needed to do was ackowledge the problem in the first few days, like anyone with an ounce of experience would have done.
And McCain would have had the good sense to not be as childish as claiming to have his foot on BP's throat or looking for an ass to kick.

if "B", I call dibs on Pelosi's off-shore accts . . .

has anyone even bothered to wonder why the Swiss banks who had been ready to reveal "annonymous account-holder" info under Bush, have now "walked back" that position? (with NO U.S. DOJ fanfare or protest)

Ya, Dreams Of My Father was written by him 100%. Unlike your little fellow dumbo Sarah Palin's book.

Quit looking like a fool, eh?

MY sincere apologies to letspray..

I just THOUGHT you were the biggest dumbshit fucker on this issue......

and watch carefully tonite and you will hear more than a couple of comments about how we must go straight to green energy and other things...

how we must stop all the drilling with mo mention of the thousands of workers losing thier jobs..those are merely the spoils of his war on the american economy so he can remake it in the image of soros and ayers and the other 'social justice' whores.

thats why the whole problem of things not getting cleaned up is ON purpose............and why his white house told the dutch NO...we dont need you to come and actually clean it up because if you did.
we might LET A CRISIS GO TO WASTE.

And what would President McCain have done differently to have prevented or stopped the leak?

He'd have crashed a fighter jet to set the oil ablaze

(The Coast Guard is burning where it can be burned - mostly miles offshore and where it hasn't emulsified yet).

Obozo is as worthless as tits on a boar hog! He is nothing but a bag of wind that can only read from a teleprompter!

At least he's intelligible, unlike Bush Junior, and he's less white-trash than Sarah Palin; who was reading off of her hand.

And news-flash Tiffany, every President reads off of a teleprompter. Where have you been?

Day 60: The joke-in-chief's "I Won!" Speech on Comedy Central tonight. No matter how he spins it, and he will, he's a loser with his own Waterloo.

yeah but only the joke-in-chief took his teleprompter to a classroom of 6yr olds. oh, and he cant complete a sentence without one either.

What time is Obama's speech tonight? Anyone know?

'Bout now I thought. I like to DVR it so I can watch it over and over and over until my ears and eyes bleed.

What game we playing tonight:

"Let me be clear"
"Bush's fault"
"I take responsibility BUT"

Never mind. Not so great timing on my part -- just missed Obama's speech. I'll have to catch it at 8:00 p.m. I'm sure it'll be replayed.

Never let a good crises go to waste.
Obama is pushing for a carbon tax.
That'll do wonders for a faltering economy.

It was at 8 PM Eastern time and went over 7 minutes ago.

Nobody watched it? HAHAHAHA. Shit. I'm re-posting my response from the other thread.

I did not watch until that last 1:30 I finally tuned in, all of which was 90 seconds of a bunch of bullshit about God, and how God will help us. I wish we could elect an atheist for president, somebody who will really deal with the reality as it happens instead of hoping for a bunch of spiritual crap.

I noticed 2 things Obama mentioned in his speech.

1. he called for "prayer"
2. he mentioned the landing on the moon.

I'm guessing he has lost Boob's vote for relection.

Is anyone watching the folks on Hannity??

I said ---
Obama is going to forbid drilling off shore and call for a massive stimulus for alternative energy.

Never let a crisis go to waste.

And unfortunately I was right...

Oh and the commission stuff is busy work.

As usual and to be expected...further evidence of any element of leadership... no real agenda of action...same spital of old...you need an action plan, not more 'look at me speeches'...
he is so lost with lack of leadership knowledge or ability... every speech he makes causes a national 'shudder'...!!!
This crisis needs a real leader....anyone volunteer..????

Expected him to be kicking ass, not licking it. Nice job handing BP and Exxon, and the rest of the oil cabal, the cap and trade policy that they bought and paid for during the 2008 campaign. That oughta get the sludge off those pelicans.

OBAMA'S CHAPPAQUIDDICK.

There ia a great "National Malaise" on the near horizon... it's 1979 again in America.

Barack Obama has five major problems. First he doesn't prioritize correctly. Second he seems to have little strong conviction on any issue. Third if he stands for anything, it is for the status quo wrecking our country for a few greedy oligarchs. Fourth, he does not understand the powers and the role of the modern presidency. Fifth his communications apparatus is the weakest since Carter. In fairness to his communications team, Obama has given them almost nothing to sell. You try singing the praises of bailing out Goldman Sachs one hundred cents on the dollar, or a health care plan that forces people to buy plans they don't want from hated insurance vultures. It ain't easy. On the other hand, Bush and Cheney had far less than nothing to sell when it came to the Iraq war, indeed nothing but lies, and their team handled that masterfully.

Successful presidents today drive outcomes in one direction by shaping the debate. And they determine which items are on the docket.

By failing to stand for anything while the country crumbles, Obama has virtually begged those who would make the trains run on time to seize power. The door is open for worse things to be inflicted upon the American public and the world.
