Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Sunday, March 21, 2010

Conservatives and Republicans today suffered their most crushing legislative defeat since the 1960s.

It's hard to exaggerate the magnitude of the disaster. Conservatives may cheer themselves that they'll compensate for today's expected vote with a big win in the November 2010 elections.
(1) It's a good bet that conservatives are over-optimistic about November – by then the economy will have improved and the immediate goodies in the healthcare bill will be reaching key voting blocs.

(2) So what? Legislative majorities come and go. This healthcare bill is forever. A win in November is very poor compensation for this debacle now.

Epic fail on par with this?

With this win, the Democrats regain the use of the slogan "YES WE CAN" for November.

The R-turds are stuck with "No, we really, really can't!!".

The Tea Party still has racist slurs and homophobic rantings going for it. (At least for a couple more weeks until their billionaire puppet masters pull the plug on this publicity stunt.)

No wonder John Boner was crying. He's gonna lose his position.

First irrefutable evidence that Boehner is an ineffectual leader absent a friendly administration.

But man, it scares me to think who rises up out of that cesspool to take the job.

"No illusions please:

This bill will not be repealed. Even if Republicans scored a 1994 style landslide in November, how many votes could we muster to re-open the “doughnut hole” and charge seniors more for prescription drugs?

How many votes to re-allow insurers to rescind policies when they discover a pre-existing condition?

How many votes to banish 25 year olds from their parents' insurance coverage? And even if the votes were there – would President Obama sign such a repeal?

We followed the most radical voices in the party and the movement, and they led us to abject and irreversible defeat. [...]"

"... it's Waterloo all right: ours." - David Bloody Frum

At least he has the brains to admit it.

We followed the most radical voices in the party and the movement, and they led us to abject and irreversible defeat. [...]"

Thank you, teabaggers, Limbaugh, Beck, Palin, etc. Hahahaha.

Yeah, people who bring guns to rallies, mock patients with Parkinsons and children whose mothers die, utter racial and homosexual slurs really look like folks who want their representatives to cooperate with Democrats and Obama when it comes to running the government. Not.

This is going to be the best post-vote thread, I can tell already...

Frum is an insufferable PNAKer, but even he said last year that repubes were foolish to go after Obama when he was addressing problems that they would have to work on if he didn't ... so why get in his way?

David Frum is a Marxist!

He's a Commie RINO!!

so why get in his way?

to pander to voters and make it very difficult for blue dog dems to support it.

He's a commie SMURF, but without the "S"

This is going to be the best post-vote thread, I can tell already...

how so? it was posted yesterday and I'm the 12th post.

LOL

Then entire country suffered a crushing defeat

Boehner gave the Democrats that ad for the upcoming election:

Crowds shouting "Yes we can!"
cut to video of Boehner from last night:
"Hell no we can't!"

"... it's Waterloo all right: ours."

Does this mean...... yes, I think it does....

GOP theme song in November, if they can get the rights from ABBA:

"My my, I tried to hold you back but you were stronger
Oh yeah, and now it seems my only chance is giving up the fight
And how could I ever refuse
I feel like I win when I lose"

Posted this elsewhere:
Checkers, chess, or tiddlywinks?

Somebody posted that Obama is playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers. Until the vote actually finished last night, I was sure the Dems were playing tiddlywinks (ineptly)while the GOppers were playing football. They basically ceded last summer to the whackos and had been sort of playing catch-up ever since.

Now I wonder. The GOPpers tied themselves to the tea baggers and the tea baggers have beeen going batshittier and batshittier every day. The spitting and racism of the weekend certainly harkens back to the good old segregation days, and the threats of violence aren't likely to sit well with the less nutty majority. Whacky Palin as spokesperson against the death squads might not have been the smartest move either.

So, is all this just happenstance, or did the Dems actually work to hook the Republicans so inextricably to the baggers?

So, is all this just happenstance, or did the Dems actually work to hook the Republicans so inextricably to the baggers?

you are asking that as if the dems wouldn't attempt to do that.

what a fucking tool.

answer this....how many elected republicans attended a teabagger rally? I know some did....Steele(he counts), Rick Perry, Palin? probably.

how much did Maddow and Olberman jump all over these events?

This is going to be the best post-vote thread, I can tell already...

wow...good prediction Corky.

Okay, this is not a defeat, we're just moving forward in a different direction-backwards.

Sarah Palin.

how much did Maddow and Olberman jump all over these events?

Unhappy when the media ignores them, just as unhappy when they get noticed.

Republicans have become the party that can't take yes for an answer.

Then entire country suffered a crushing defeat

dont worry folks..
states rights will get a large kickin with this.

AND texas AG says that the supremes have closed some of the 'elasitic' in the commerce clause in recent years..

not over yet.

you are asking that as if the dems wouldn't attempt to do that.

Eberley, I was asking if the Dems were smart enough to do this.
as for the GOPpers aiding the baggers:

That would have been the end of it, had Republican lawmakers not stirred things up. First Reps. Buck McKeon (Calif.), Rob Bishop (Utah) and Mike Turner (Ohio) came out waving signs saying "KILL THE BILL." The crowd went wild. Reps. Mary Fallin (Okla.), Geoff Davis (Ky.) and Bill Posey (Fla.) held the "Don't Tread on Me" flag, and Rep. Pete Sessions (Tex.), head of the House Republicans' 2010 campaign committee, came out with half a dozen colleagues and more kill-the-bill signs. Rep. Jeff Miller (Fla.) dangled an American flag from the balcony.

The battle may have been temporarily lost but not the war.

It goes on...

Can't wait til November, eh Murphy?

We'll see.

Hope you're not too disappointed.

Northguy,

The dems are smart enough. They have their pundits who advance agenda for them.

Just like the repubs.

Silver,

I am not complaining about the coverage. Why should the left be denied their pundits?

Teabaggers are already out in force at state capitol buildings. No doubt the signs will look like "REPEEL THE BILL!" and "DEFEET TOTOLATARAINS".

The more the GOP's mouthpieces yell, the more their minions scream, the more Americans will turn away from the GOP.

Oh, do they really think grandma's 'donut hole' fix, no more rescission, no more caps on benefits, and all that repealed? Let 'em try. That'll go over like a lead balloon.

The public will only now find out the benefits this legislation gives them.

Good luck right wing noise machine and your minions.

Oh, do they really WANT grandma's 'donut hole' fix

GOP theme song in November, if they can get the rights from ABBA:

~Gal Tuesday.

Waterloo? WaterLOL!

Sounds good.

And then fer extra yuks maybe Tom Delay can bring his rug-cutting acumen to "Dancing Queen" in a special solo number.

Oh, yeah!

* jazz hands *

Be Well.

mock patients with Parkinsons

Wasn't that the classiet thing you ever saw. I'm a black man and I really felt sorry for the guy.

Rush made that the fashionable thing to do among the lunatic right with his Michael J Fox.

When's that fat fuck moving to Costa Rica like he said he would anyway?

Frum:GOP Suffers Crushing Defeat

....correction : Gop Suffers Another Crushing Defeat.....

Defeat - YES. The dems now can make total claim to the health care bill (as purely theirs). That's a good thing isn't it? I think so.
