Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Saturday, March 20, 2010

The House Rules Committee continued its session on the third floor of the Capitol, where the panel is tasked with setting the terms of Sunday's floor debate. House leaders have decided to take a separate vote on the Senate version of the health care bill, rejecting an earlier, much-criticized strategy that would have permitted them to "deem" the measure passed without an explicit vote.

What in the fuck has the "libertarians" accomplished lately, mitchogynist?

We will be seeing these in about 3 years:

2.bp.blogspot.com

Fine. Reagan was in the slumps at this point in his Presidency. Worse polls than Obama. Recession. Lost 25 seats in the House. We all know how that turned out for him in 1984 once the economy turned around.

Idiotfidian, Libertarians will not be responsible for bankrupting the country within the decade and driving down the quality of health care.

Libertarians will not be responsible for bankrupting the country within the decade

The GOP beat everyone to it. Libertarians nowadays are ashamed Bush voters by and large.

"Libertarians will not be responsible for "

You can say that again.

AU, I've been a Libertarian before it was fashionable to be one in the right. Many people in the right use the label without knowing what the hell it means. All they know is it makes them look cool and edgy.

I am prepared for this bill passing to tomorrow. I won't get angry or mad or depressed. The sooner we hit rock bottom, the sooner we can beging to deal with out problems. Countries and people alike always procrastimate, they don't deal with their problems until forced to. The passage of this bill speeds up the process to in a sense it is good. Instead of waiting until 2030 or 2040 to default, it will happen this decade and so then we can move on past it and be a better country.

The sooner we hit rock bottom, the sooner we can beging to deal with out problems.

December 2008. That's when we hit rock bottom. We were finally able to began a serious effort to address them at 1 pm Jamuary 20th, 2009.

AU, December 2008 is a walk in the park. When the baniking system failed Uncle bailed it out. Who do you think will bail out the U.S. government? We are stil the biggest economy in the world. We are not a small country that the IMF can simply throw some money at (and their record is poor anyways at saving countries).

Fair enough. I've know Libertarians long before that term was hijacked. Most of those today who use it don't even vote Libertarian, let alone have a clue what real Libertarians stand for.

Who do you think will bail out the U.S. government?

That's what I was asking Republicans while skyrocketed the debt through the 2000's instead of paying it off. All while knowing...

"Deficits don't matter" - Dick Cheney

They made sure we were far more concerned about flag pins while they raped the U.S. taxpayers. I've asked countless Republicans what we got in return for the $7 Trillion. *crickets*

Libertarians = Republicans who want to smoke dope.

Real Libertarians are also pro-choice. Barry Goldwater said 'it's none of my business what a woman does with her body'. Sensible Republican.

It'll be interesting what's in the final bill---up to this point it's been a lot of surmising---I place my money on one thing; I bet it is mainly a tax bill with shifting of money---it's also not going to cut costs which was one of the original tenets of "healthcare reform".

The bill's been online for three months. What prevented you from reading it?

They're still negotiating on parts of it and I don't get overly excited until the final t is crossed and the final period is in place.

The bill has been online for three months. Right wingers have been asking "why won't they let us SEE the bill!" for three months.

The 'fixes' have been online since Thursday.

You're welcome to read. So easy a caveman can do it. LOL

Is that why Obama said about 2 days ago he didn't even know what was in the final bill?---doggone, I always knew he (being a caveman) was related---really LOL.

The 'fix' is 150 pages long. I read it Thursday night when they posted it online no problem.

I'm not necessarily a Libertarian:

en.wikipedia.org

I've for decades described myself as an: Anti-liberal.

Funny thing is when I grew up liberal meant open minded as opposed to nowadays where it means closed-minded {my way of the highway}; and they do not understand why we cannot tolerate them.

Since Thursday night they've pushed for 8-9 major changes yet in the bill.

Today's liberalism is a bastardization of original liberalism---since I stick with the definition of original liberalism of the 19th century, I won't insult them by referring to those that absconded with the term by referring to them as "liberal"---to me they're simply "leftists" although they're trying to morph into the term "progressive".

givva shit givva shit just give me my free health care,go dems you have my vote,i need my money for something more tangible.

As a proud, gay and transgendered liberal, I believe
that are views have value.

However, reich-wing views are views of hatred,
divisivness, intolerance and bigotry.

As such, these anti-inclusive views should be banned.

Outlaw Limbaug - hush Rush now!

Be Well.

As a proud, gay and transgendered liberal, I believe
that are views have value

what?

Outlaw Limbaug - hush Rush now!

Typical Marxist Leftie... Free speech.... for us only....

Well, Skippy,

Frankly, your gender and sexual orientation is irrelevant to this discussion. As a heterosexual non transgendered male with lesbian tendencies, my opinion is ... (see, it really is a deflection or in worse case "an overshare.") It must be difficult to identify yourself through your gender and preferences before you get to things like "American" or "poet" or "bean counter." I wish you well on your journey to expand yourself and your self definition.

----

And to try to outlaw someone's speech because you don't like it is, well, extremely hypocritical on your part.
Unless you'd rather not know what other people are thinking and force them into an underground movement That becomes even more dangerous.

----

We Libertarians of the "old school" really are stating that our preference is for a small government. Sort of what the Constitution has laid out originally, but is now so bloated. And for personal responsibility, not governmental nannyism.

But hey, the "Liberal" "Progressive" "Left" "Whateverthefuck" group today is all about governmental pacifiers. They'd rather see each of us not succeed too much. And frankly, are self-righteous pseudo-intellectuals with delusions of omnipotence. (Little words: They think they are smarter than you and know what is best for you, poor ignorant savage.)

So "Liberal" and "Libertarian" really don't intersect. Libertarians don't mind if you use salt when you cook but some Liberals feel that it is their duty to ban salt from cooking. (See www.allbusiness.com )

Nor does "Conservative" and "Libertarian" truly intersect, given the number of individual limits they want to establish. For example, gambling, drinking, spitting on the sidewalks, porn and even a "belief in 'God'."

So yes, the GENERAL (there are many types of Libertarians) Libertarian is for personal responsibility and small governmental involvement in a citizen's life. A government that will protect the Nation, provide a way to settle disputes impartially and few other tasks. The goal being to protect the individual, not the government nor society. Protect civility.

So, to make it a simplistic model, inherent with errors, you choose:

"Liberal" if you want control on your ability to succeed past a certain point and say things that might offend someone.

"Conservative" if you want "moral control" then you would select "Conservative."

"Libertarian" if you want to just be left the fuck alone except in rare and well defined instances.

And ON TOPIC:

Looks like they are still trying "by hook or by crook" to get something through that they can't even get agreement in their own party on health care.

Frankly, they've tried "the hook" with the Louisiana Purchase and other "special treatments" designed to bribe a congress critter.

And lately they have been trying the "by crook" method, perverting procedure, failing to put up a finalized version of the bill, with all the warts as per the fixes.

Most ethical and transparent ... not! Well, one thing that is transparent is that they aren't ethical.

----

Oh, and for $7 trillion we got squat. Well debt. That should never have occurred. But hey, Feds will be Feds, trying to control social, moral and/or economical aspects of a person's life.

Daprof-
Where was your apocalyptic rhetoric when Medicare Part D was passed, or when we invaded Iraq for their WMD, or when the Republicans turned a balanced budget into a doubling of the debt, or when eight years of Bush resulted in a panic in fear of a new Great Depression.

Can you link to any of your previous comments? I'd be glad to read them.

Or a comment in opposition of over $2 Trillion worth of tax cuts for the wealthy the CBO scored as creating $2 Trillion in deficits the GOP rammed through via reconciliation.

I love pointing out right wing hypocrisy. It's everywhere you turn these days.

Frankly, they've tried "the hook" with the Louisiana Purchase and other "special treatments" designed to bribe a congress critter.

Uh, that applies to any state that has a natural disaster.

And lately they have been trying the "by crook" method, perverting procedure, failing to put up a finalized version of the bill, with all the warts as per the fixes.

It's been online since Thursday. The bill itself has been online for three months but that hasn't stopped the right wing from saying "WHY WON'T THEY SHOW US THE BILL!!?"

Including many who post on DR, despite it's having been linked numerous times the past three months starting with the day it went online ... three months ago.

Americanunity-
But, but....Republicans are FOR tax cuts for the wealthy, AGAINST any specific cuts in spending, and as of January 2009, REALLY hate the deficit and are hawks on the debt!

They had a 'come to Jesus' moment election night 2008 when Obama was declared the winner.

Where in the fuck was Mitch and the like when we invaded IRAQ? Sure we can squander untold billions of dollars on an illegal war (all while killing innocents) with hallicheney's company, BUT "keep your hands off health care"!

Don't you dare go tryin to get health care for the less fortunate (unfortunately, the "less fortunate" happens to be anyone with a pre-existing condition ... like a cold, you know)

Maybe we should have "socialized" nation rebuilding…. That would have saved us some dollars, huh?

AND, SCOTUS didn't have to decide who the winner was!
