Israeli settlement building anywhere on occupied land is illegal and must be stopped, UN chief Ban Ki-moon said Saturday. During a high-profile West Bank visit, Ban was escorted to an observation point by Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad. Ban said, "Let us be clear. All settlement activity is illegal anywhere in occupied territory and must be stopped."

FTA: The brief geography lesson came a day after Ban, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and representatives of the EU and Russia -- known together as the Quartet -- met in Moscow to try to find a way to restart Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

Ban-Ki is right but Bibi don't want peace.

The quartet need to stop asking and start telling.

Be Well.

It wasn't that long ago when the Israelis were claiming victimhood status - and getting away with it.

It wasn't that long ago when they denied they were an a apartheid state - and getting away with it.

Ban Ki Moon in Israel: "Settlements Must Be Stopped"

Israeli settlement building anywhere on occupied land is illegal and must be stopped, UN chief Ban Ki-moon said Saturday, after getting a closer look at some of the Israeli enclaves scattered across Palestinian-claimed territories.

Time to turn off the spigot of American money to Israel. They know full well building new settlements is illegal and inflammatory. Either they get 100% on board in the peace process or let's cut off their funding. They don't need our money anymore.

LOL!!!
Israel will do as it sees fit and the United States government will back them all the way. We'd have an easier time securing Universal Single Payer than affecting Israel's actions or our government's cooperation with them.

Is Jerusalem considered "occupied territory"? Because that's where the settlement was going when Obama forgot that he agreed that it was okay.

I wonder how we would feel if we were building a housing development in San Francisco, and the Japanese government told us we couldn't.

We should pull the aid as a matter of principle--to everyone-- but Israelis should be able to build houses wherever they want.

OMG! They're violating UN resolutions, like Saddam did! When does the bombing start?

AGAIN...someone can check on this but on two seperate occasions I heard the case made that this land in has been called israel even by abbas and even placed in a map as that..and IF TRUE..this world govt fuck is wrong.

and I dont recall any comment from him around here when a rocket from gaza exploded in israel and killed not a jew but a worker form thailand..
I guess he was too busy to get too worked up over that.

The guys at the country club are chuckling to themselves about what a good job Hillary is doing playing outrage. Israel is being made to appear the whipping boy at the same time they are being told that they will stand down on their antagonism toward Iran. This is because the US and China have realized that China's oil supply is too vulnerable and China wants to trade with Iran, not be blockaded by them. Meanwhile the payoff for Israel will come in the form of more secret technology from the US and some kind of payoff will be made to them by China also. Iran gets to have their show of power while the civilized world plays for time to heal the insanity of theocracy. IMHO.

East Jerusalem after the 1948 war.

Upon its capture, the Jordanians immediately expelled all the Jewish residents of the Jewish Quarter. All the main synagogues were destroyed, and the Jewish Quarter was bulldozed.[3] The ancient Jewish cemetery on Mount of Olives was desecrated, and the tombstones there were used for construction and paving roads.[3] Jordan also destroyed the Jewish villages of Atarot and Neve Yaakov just north of Jerusalem (their sites became Jerusalem neighborhoods after 1967).

You poor jew hating fuckers, have a nice day losers.

The funny thing is I don't have to go to far to rub your faces in shit.

It just bores me after awhile.

After the 6 day war

Under Israeli rule, members of all religions were largely granted access to their holy sites, with the Muslim Waqf maintaining control of the Temple Mount and the Muslim holy sites there. The old Mughrabi Quarter (Moroccan) neighborhood in front of the Western Wall was demolished and replaced with a large open air plaza. The Jewish Quarter, destroyed in 1948, was rebuilt and resettled by Jews.

The palistainians could reduce Israel to a corner apartment building and you losers would undoubtedly complain about that also.

rwd

When the Israelis and Palestinians were closest to a lasting peace deal, Ariel Sharon showed up on the Temple Mount to incite the crowd, got several people shot, and purposefully set back the peace process.

Israelis only pay lip service to anything having to do with peace, which is in U.S. security interests. Nothing incites the ME more than our one sided dealings with Israel.

I'm not anti-Semite at all, but I am anti-BS, and the Israelis are full of it.

Leave it to the world to get tough with Israel, especially the US. After all it has nothing but soft gloves for Iran, NK, Russia, etc....and Obama is a TOUGH MOTHER FUCKER! and has to show everybody he means what he says...well almost evevrybody, are friends at least

North Korea was and is a far bigger threat to the U.S. with nukes and an active ICBM program. Did we ever invade them?

"Did we ever invade them?"

Once.
In the 50's.
Made it damn near to China.

When the Israelis and Palestinians were closest to a lasting peace deal

Oh yeah when was that? Lets see your link I'll post mine.

Don't embarass yourself with your pathetic attempt to blame Sharon for all these years of palistinian aggression against Israel.

rwd

Ya, I blame Sharon.

I was speaking of them per W's "Axis of Evil'. A far greater threat to us than Saddam ever was, selling nuke technology and missiles and all.

No link? Ya,thought so.

LOL

Who needs a link? You don't know your history, not my problem.

I remember the event well. Started the second Palestinian Intifada. Sharon knew exactly what he was doing. Did it at just the right time too, just when peace looked like a real possibility. Just to stir the pot and inflame the Palestinians.

OK, now you can do your 'revisionist history' deal, RIGHTWINGDON.

Right wingers are behind most of the wars in this world.

Screw Israel. They're screwing us. I'm not anti-Semitic by any stretch, just anti-dumbassed right wingers.

Actually, I'd place the blame more accurately in conflicts of belief systems, especially some religious belief systems.

news.bbc.co.uk

What Sharon did right or wrong was in my eyes a litmus test to the veracity of the palistinians goal of peace with Israel.
My posts 9 and 10 prove this out beyond a shadow of a doubt both sides commitment to peace.
If it takes a visit by a jewish man to visit a jewish holy site to cause an intifada then peace is not really the palistinians goal.
As to you telling me to read history I suggest you take off your blinders and do the same.
Silver Ironist's link above that descibes the events at the Temple Mount in two paragraphs is laughable if it wasn't so sad.
Israel can do no wrong in my eyes,it is up to the palistinians to offer the terms for lasting peace first.

The U.S. needs to get the F out of the U.N. now!

"Is Jerusalem considered "occupied territory"?

I'm amazed that anyone so ill-informed has the temerity to post on the subject.

"and I dont recall any comment from him around here when a rocket from gaza exploded in israel and killed not a jew but a worker form thailand.."

The UN tends not to comment on every death...only when it's hundreds or thousands of civilians as in Operation Case Lead in Gaza...

"The U.S. needs to get the F out of the U.N. now!"

And eliminate the fig leaf for their warmongering? Ain't gonna happen.

"Don't embarass yourself with your pathetic attempt to blame Sharon for all these years of palistinian aggression against Israel."

Okay this bozo thinks Palestinians have no right to resist Israeli landgrubbing. Is this a general principle? Can I steal his house and he won't complain? If so somebody get me his address and I'll be right over.

When Israel took East Jerusalem it wasn't owned by the palistinians,Jorden owned it.
The palistinians have no claim.
If the palistinians didn't wage a relentless terrorist attack on Israel would the wall have been built?
Nope.
They have no one to blame but themselves for their current condition.
Also why is the Israeli barrier to gaza the only thing people complain about but Egypts barrier is never mentioned?
A bit of a double standard as I see it,the arab world wants nothing to do with the palistinians but is comfortable with laying the full blame on Israel.

You dumb fuck, here is the correct analogy.

How would you feel is your house was torn down by the government, with no payment for you, in order to build new housing for Blacks on welfare? (Settlers are generally religious nuts on Israeli welfare)

Palestinians are legal residents of East Jerusalem just like the Jews.

"When Israel took East Jerusalem it wasn't owned by the palistinians,Jorden owned it.
The palistinians have no claim.

Dumb fuck the people were living there. You don't ignore property rights. This is why the US was so upset with Cuba is American businesses lost their property.

I CANNOT BELIEVE A RIGHT WING ASSHOLE DOES NOT RESPECT THE PROPERTY RIGHTS OF AN INDIVIDUAL. THIS IS THE BASIS OF CAPITALISM AND CONSERVATISM. YOU HYPOCRITICAL SHITSTAIN.

Jerusalem.

Here's sommat that not talked about too often when discussing the US-Israel-Palestine relationship.

The belief by a scary number of American Evangelicals that in order for the prophecy of Jesus' Return to be fulfilled "The Jews" have to hold Jerusalem.

Maybe rebuild the Temple and maybe not but in a generalized sense there is an overall notion that it would be kinda embarrassing fer some Christians if Jesus were to Return and find Jerusalem part of a Muslim state.

The Israelis are aware of this meme, of course, and exploit it to their own end.

The fact that political policy in the 21st century is even partially dictated by beliefs found in books written by Sky Wizards millennia ago is scarifying.

Be Well.

the palistinians contribute nothing to the betterment of mankind,so i will stick with the jews.when was the last time a jew that blew up a plane load of people?
