San Francisco Chronicle: An ex-vegan who was hit with chili pepper-laced pies at an anarchist event in San Francisco said Tuesday that her assailants were cowards who should direct their herbivorous rage at the powerful -- not at a fellow radical for writing a book denouncing animal-free diets.

Life still can't be all that bad yet...if these people don't have anything better to do.

Heh. Anarchist vegans? I wasn't aware the two causes intersected. I suppose there is some common ground...

I contend that, if anarchy ever became widespread, vegans would be among the weakest contenders for survival.

Vegans can still fire a gun and most don't have the concern for human life that they do for animal life. Don't take them too lightly.

In San Francisco? I don't believe it.

They should be happy. I hear it was total anarchy after the pies were thrown.

They are the weakest already regardless of the political system if you believe the author of the book.

Anarchy and chaos will be more and more common, perhaps the reigning political system the way humanity is headed.

At least they used pies and not guns. The peppers seemed to be an attempt at assault, but the article did not make clear if he suffered any burns.

Some of the vegans are pretty whacko and others are just riding a fad. I have always suspected the veggie only diet would leave you vulnerable to health issues. I would not be surprised if the author was able to documented negative health consequences.

Interesting that he believes agriculture is destroying the planet. I can relate to that point of view. Not sure if these factory farm operations, especially the chicken and pork producers, are any less harsh on the environment.

Habitat destruction and species disappearing are legitimate issues to be addressed. The natural animal kingdom deserves to be preserved and respected.

Domestic animals are not natural and would not exist but for human intervention. I see no problem with allowing consumption as long as human health is protected.

No animals deserve to be treated inhumanely. Consumption of domestic animals is not inhumane. The radical vegans who wants to free all the animals from the farms and the labs are very wrong.

These actions harm the environment more that it helps.

Pepper: The other black meat

they can pry my gruyere and cheddar from my cold, dead, peppery fingers.

I happen to eat vegetarian a lot out of habit, but I will slap a vegan silly to get a fat slice of artisan or even a good industriel cheese.

this article in particular makes me want a 3x3 from In N Out. Or a flat iron steak, extra rare, with gorgonzola on top.

I also advocate humane animal care, because a well kept animal is a tasty animal. wagyu beef anyone?

Definitely Wagyu, Jesusisgod....love the stuff. Have it every time we end up in Vegas at Craft Steak in MGM Grand.

Though sometimes I'll splurge on Japanese grade 5 if I'm having more than usual "luck" at the tables.

Man, I want to head there right now and found a flight for only $120 R/T.

Me so hungy.

The left are always entertaining.

VEtards....

An ex-vegan who was hit with chili pepper-laced pies at an anarchist event...

Obviously that guy musta read the Anarchist Cookbook!

Can't believe nobody had made that joke yet.

Me so happy! ^_^

Be Well.

We see how "anarchist" people like the ones in this story are the moment someone assaults them or otherwise mistreats them or their property the way they do others. The first thing they do is lawyer up and/or cry to the authorities.

Had a Vegan neighbor until about a month ago. It seems that he didn't like us cooking cajun surf & turf (boudin sausage and boiled crawfish) in the common areas on Sundays during fotball season. He even called the police during the Saints/Cowboys game and tried to have us all arrested or something. The net result of his actions was that the police wrote him a ticket for basically being a pain in the ass, the landlord refused to renew his lease, the crawfish was delicious, and the Saints beat the Cowboys. We all thought it was kind of funny. But the funniest thing was when my Pakistani neighbor, who has a VERY strong accent, basically told him that he needed to mind his own business. It was hilarious.

"...the movement is dead"
no no no, it's pretty much alive!!!
It's your mushgoo brains that're gonners...for a long while now.
