Hurry libs! You have to save him! Vote for socialized medicine, and turn his numbers around!
Or maybe it's another stimulus we need. Or more aid to the big banks, hoping that will get them lending again. Or we should carefully find a few thousand people who made mistakes using Turbo Tax, and give them jobs at Treasury. Anything.

In other news:
Republican candidates have now stretched their lead over Democrats to 10 points in the Generic Congressional Ballot, their biggest lead ever in nearly three years of weekly tracking. The GOP has been leading on the ballot for months. www.rasmussenreports.com

Polls go up and polls go down.
Secondly, I've said it before and I'll say it again: I think this country is better off when one party controls the executive branch and the other party controls at least one house in Congress.
But go ahead with your blind partisanship, you come across as so well reasoned.

I agree. Carter would have been better with a GOP Congress. Reagan and Clinton only saw the success they did because they had to deal with a Congress from the other side. The only real problem now is that the two parties are so entrenched in their hatred for all things middle, that I don't think anything less than a third party will force government to move.

"The American public remains evenly divided on whether President Obama's health care plan should be passed, according to the latest Wall Street Journal-NBC News poll.
Forty-six percent of all respondents came out in favor of passing the bill, with 45 percent against it."
Ah so! RisW is upside down with the American people on passing the health care Bill.

Partisanship is nothing new in this country. It dates back to our founding fathers, but you are correct in that some are entrenched to a fault (see most posters here). Third parties come in with a bang and are eventually swallowed up by the big parties.

Sad but true. The last successful third party was the Republicans and look what they brought with them.

Theoretically a balance of powers is what the founding fathers had in mind. Unfortunately the grim reality today is that any sort of balance of powers leads to gridlock which makes an already ineffectual system's ability to get anything useful done even less effective.
...the two parties are so entrenched in their hatred for all things middle...
Both parties seem to have declared open season on the moderates in their ranks. The safety factor comes from running right or left in election season and when divisive issues come up. This ends up having the effect of making the the rhetoric more rancorous and also decreases the chances for a truly bipartisan compromise position.
People who vote the party line get to stick around and those who vote their conscience do not as a rule.
Dumb fucking rule.
Be Well.

Maybe Rasmussen isn't the "outlier", but a predictor of where the other polls will be in a week or two.
But I give you credit Cork! Attack the one poll that looks worse than the others, to derive some kind of comfort from the fact that they all suck! Nice work!

Honestly, you think Bush was better? Not a deflection, but more of a point that the country took a step in the right direction when it elected Obama over McCain. Is Obama a Bush redux? In some cases yes - we're still in Iraq aren't we, and have an active campaign in Afganistan. However, I believe hings will get better with time as long as we stop running for the political poles, and have trust in the American people that they will eventually meet in the middle. You on the other hand would rather sit around and bitch and perpetuate derision rather than try to do anything proactive. The country needs to stop focusing on people like you and focusing on those who want an America meets in the middle.

I think Obama sucks worse than Bush. And that is really, really amazing. And if you think Obama is in the middle, you're out of your mind.
BTW--I didn't vote for McCain. But McCain would have been better too.

Speaking out against stupid policy is proactive.
Amazing. Did every libtard on planet earth go out to their Prius last January, and scrape the "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism" bumper stickers off?
The percentage of men who strongly support Obama is 19%. That's less than half what it was ten months ago.

The poll is from Gallup.
Funny how all along I've heard that Rasmussen is the outlier, then a week or two later the other polls catch up to where Ras was. Also inconvenient for you is that Ras is the most accurate polling organization, going back something like 6 election cycles now.
But whatever. If you wanna complain that Obama's negative numbers are 56% and not 59%, then I guess it's your life.

I'm devastated. I want so much for you to like me.
But I'm also in the majority. By a lot. Why don't I do a quick review of your posts, and see if you've ever accused CorkSarvisForth Unity of that? At least there have been a lot of Republicans I've never voted for, and never will. How many Dumbos is that true of, in their case?
19%.

Important thing to note here is that Congresses disapproval ratings are at an all time low and that in direct comparison Obama is still the only part of national government that any large number of people still believe in.
His numbers are down because people are, understandably, disappointed by his caving in to the obstructionist right to the point where health care reform is now a pale shadow of what it really should and could be.
No public option?
No national drug price negotiations?
A freaking mandate replete with penalties for those who don't, won't or can't pay?
No serious attempt to break up the virtual monopoly?
Government is broken.
People are finally getting this over the white noise that is MSM news coverage.
It is systemically corrupted by special interests lobbying to defeat bills which might benefit people and lower profit margins.
Obama and the Dems are three steps forwards and two steps back.
The Republicans are just three steps back.
Thems the facts.
Deal with it.

What majority is that?
The 48+ percent that approve of the job the Pres is doing?
Or the majority that favor passing the health care Bill?

There are already plenty of people around here that do that; why dogpile?
I like ya bud, and I know somewhere deep down there is a heart. I just think your approach to politics one of the problems which is preventing the country from coming together, this applies to partisan lefties as well. The "my way or the highway" approach hasn't worked.

If that's the case, why are all the congressmen/women not breaking down doors to vote for it? Why did BLUE MASSACHUSETTS give the "Kennedy" seat to a guy who promised to vote AGAINST it? Poor Corkeeee...she HATES Rasmussen because she hates those (accurate) numbers. I think our li'l friend, Corker, is permanently out to lunch and is a coupla sandwiches short of a picnic.

wel he did say he could unify the country...and he certainly has gotten the right and the middle together now hasnt it
but fact is..he had DIVIDED this country in half which is exactly what his plan was...and now on to put the REST of us on the liberal plantation to be stuck with voting for his team in order to keep govt benefits.

Cork,
The most recent polling from Gallup has 48% oppose and 36% support for Obamacare.
It's a stinking turd of a bill and the public knows it.
What's worse is that 72% feel it should be scrapped and that congress should start over.

Damn Commies at the Wall Street Journal!!
If this country were governed by poll, Jeffy, we'd likely all be speaking German now.
Tell the parents of all the children that will be rejected by insurers this year for having preexisting conditions that they'll just have to wait because the GNOP wants to start over on something they don't have any plan, or intention, to solve.
Let me know how that works out.

"...they'll just have to wait because the GNOP wants to start over on something..."
One more time, Corkbrain...real slow for you...Democrats have a HUGE majority in both the House and the Senate. Many democrats in the House are opposed to ObamaCare as it stands. If the democrats were all in agreement for ObamaCare, the republicans would not be able to stop ANYTHING!
OK...here it comes: THERE ARE DEMOCRATS HOLDING UP THIS BILL, NOT REPUBLICANS!

"The most recent polling from Gallup has 48% oppose and 36% support for Obamacare."
Corkbrain doesn't like Gallup. Gallup is just another "outlier"...and she HATES Rasmussen, one of the most accurate pollsters. Here's what Rasmussen says about ObamaCare:
"While the president and Democratic congressional leaders push for passage of the health care plan with a vote possible as early as this weekend, most voters continue to oppose it. Forty-five percent (45%) now favor the plan, while 52% oppose it. This marks the highest level of support since mid-November. The new findings include 29% who Strongly Favor the plan and 45% who Strongly Oppose it."
"Thirty-three percent (33%) of all voters favor the creation of a single-payer health care system where the federal government provides coverage for everyone. Fifty-four percent (54%) oppose such a system. These findings are unchanged from the end of last year. Support for a single-payer system plays a huge role in whether someone will support a Representative who votes for the health care plan."
"But perhaps more significantly, 51% of voters not affiliated with either major party are less likely to support someone who votes for the legislation. Just 32% of unaffiliateds are more likely to vote for someone who supports the bill."

The current rightwing meltdown was foreseeable. I turned on FoxNews last night just to enjoy watching them in panic/lie mode. The desperation is really something. It seems as if some righties are shifting gears and preparing to orchestrate a "backlash" once the bill is passed. I expect that will be the next chapter in this saga. Must suck to be a rightwinger. Saps.
