Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

And you thought wait times were long now. The New England Journal of Medicine, hardly a bastion of conservative thought, polled health-care providers to determine their reaction to ObamaCare, and discovered that it has many doctors looking for the exits. Almost half of all general-practice doctors would feel compelled to leave medicine altogether if it passes:

Call your congressman now to stop Obamacare. The phones are really busy but keep trying.

They might be more inclined to make house calls. Make them actually work for their living.

#2 Somebody_Else> Make them actually work for their living.

Goodness, yes, they sure don't work for a living now! My doctor is always playing solitaire or checking out his Facebook page whenever I'm in the office with him. Or he's IM'ing his BFF.

Did you even think before you posted?!

What are they gonna do? Pick up a job at Burger King? lol! I'm sure they'll be rushing out the door.

Big finding actually.

well the headline is a 'little' misleading..right?

doesnt the study say that this high number will look into getting out .
I do know that my own doctor has said that it may force her out of the clinic she works at now and in fact they have already begun 'culling' medicare pattients out...

RATIONING is coming with passing of this and liberal DUPES dont give a shit

lets see...LESS DOCTORS and 30 million more people to see...??????????

why stop at 46%?
If you're going to lie, lie BIG!

76% of doctors will be forced to abort gay baby whales if Obamacare passes!

How many doctors will ACTUALLY leave the medical profession and give up those huge salaries?

ZERO

129% of doctors will turn into vampire chupacabras if Obamacare passes.

News at eleven!!!

so are you two clowns slamming the new england journal of medicine? I am pretty sure even you would call them reputauble?

What are they gonna do? Pick up a job at Burger King? lol! I'm sure they'll be rushing out the door.

This is a good question, the answer is that they will join large corporate hospitals. My understanding is OUT does not mean leave the profession, just discontinue thier current private practice.

Having discussed this with my hiking group, mostly in the medical field, (workers comp, GP, admin) Medicare documentation is brutal, and it pays less. So rather than deal with that, I suspect, the path of least resistance, will move all the independent practices to large corporate hospitals which will help them cover the Medicare reports costs.

ObamaCare will help consolidate doctors into large corporations.

Ironically the haters of large corporations will be making them bigger.

But lets move into the future, with private practice eliminated, it would make it easier for complete take over by the government.

lets discuss the more relavent point.......if even 1 MD leaves, how does that affect our supply and demand problem with MDs?

will this be a deterrent for students to go to Medical school?

I honestly don't know. but if it does....that only makes an existing problem larger.

More Insurance Lobby Bullshit from MiseryBoy.

"ObamaCare will help consolidate doctors into large corporations."

The doctors will be getting paid by the exact same insurance companies they are right now so just how is Obamacare going to drive them into big corporations????
On the doctor's end of things not much is changing, for most of us very little is changing, for about 30 million uninsured there will be change...change to having insurance which will allow doctors to be paid for their services.
This article is a bunch of nonsense.

for about 30 million uninsured there will be change...change to having insurance which will allow doctors to be paid for their services.

they will see change....but not what you described.

the change will be that you will start blaming the uninsured for being uninsured.

it will be your only option going forward.

naw...disagree...its got rationing written all over it and with rationing comes..
NOPE I wont say it...but you KNOW what im hinting at.
when you are too old to be cost efficient...obama HAS ALREADY BEEN QUOTED as saying...no operation, just take a pill....

and with shortage of drs....well....

One thing to keep in mind: this poll was not conducted by The New England Journal of Medicine, but by group called The Medicus Firm, a retained physician search firm, run by a bunch of guys with marketing degrees, with close ties to the insurance industry.

Their motives are questionable.

Only a dumbass liberal could believe in (1) more coverage, (2) better access, and (3) lower cost.

You can safely ignore everything else they say. They're just stupid.

"You can safely ignore everything else they say. They're just stupid."

Nice description of you and your ilk as well, rightiswrong.

Who cares as long as it doesn't impact Veterinarians. They'll be the one performing procedures in 4 years.

Hey Dave, tell me how it's mathematically possible that you can cover an additional 30 million people, improve access to medical care, while cutting costs.

Please share. You're one of those "Men of Genius" that Budweiser celebrates, obviously.

Or a dumbass. Why are you such a shill for Obama, when most of America knows it isn't possible? Are you stupid?

How many doctors will ACTUALLY leave the medical profession and give up those huge salaries?

ZERO
----------------
1st of all, there won't be huge salaries after this bill kicks in.

The doctors know what happened to them under Medicare, so it's just a no-brainer that the same thing will happen to them if this bill passes.

They took a pay cut under medicare in the 90s, so the way the see it, another pay cut won't be worth it.

Canada went from watching thier teams dominate the Stanley Cup to watching American teams dominate thier sport, all to pay for health care, and they only have 7 million people, we have 300 million.

England went from the worlds sea power to second rate sea power all to pay for health care.

Can't Wait

"The doctors know what happened to them under Medicare, so it's just a no-brainer that the same thing will happen to them if this bill passes."

NO there is no reason to believe that, they will be paid by the exact same insurance companies they are being paid by now.

Yes they are "reputable"

"The opinions expressed in the article linked to above represent those of The Medicus Firm only. That article does not represent the opinions of the New England Journal of Medicine or the Massachusetts Medical Society."

The doctors will be getting paid by the exact same insurance companies they are right now so just how is Obamacare going to drive them into big corporations????

First, they will not be getting the same amount they are now. There are a large number of doctors that refuse to accept certain insurance companies, and / or medicare, because the reimbursements are too small. However, when EVERYONE is part of a govt plan, then what choice does a doctor have? Either accept a lower rate, or take what money you have and retire. If you are young, then go into suing doctors, which will pay MUCH MORE than actually being a doctor.

for most of us very little is changing,

Also not true. Some of the proposals will penalize doctors for sending patients to specialist. This will reduce your ability to get an expert opinion. Just like the PM in Canada had to come to the US for treatment [I believe he said his life was more important than being PC and staying in Canada]. So, if you have good insurance, and the doctor is no longer allowed to provide the care you needed, do you have the cash to go to another country?

for about 30 million uninsured there will be change...

Yes, they will have better care, and the 120 million others will have worse care. Good thing if you are ONE of the 30 mil. SUCKS SHIT THRU A STRAW if you are one of the 120 mil that will get worse service and possibly die earlier.

change to having insurance which will allow doctors to be paid for their services.
This article is a bunch of nonsense.

Danni, have you ever worked for an insurance company? A doctor's office? Do you know how insurance works? And, as a bonus question... can you imagine having to call someone like the IRS agents when you want care?

OK, now we know who the gullible idiots are.

Yet another bullshit story:

Right-wing media have seized on a dubious, three-month old email "survey" that purports to show that physicians are concerned about health care reform and that 46 percent of the primary care doctors surveyed "indicated that they would leave medicine - or try to leave medicine - as a result of health reform." Many media figures have falsely attributed this survey to the New England Journal of Medicine. For example, on Fox & Friends, co-host Brian Kilmeade said: "The New England Journal of Medicine has published a report and did a survey, and they said the impact of reform on primary care physicians, 46 percent, they say, feel reform will force them out or make them want to leave medicine."

IDIOTS TAKE NOTE: This is false.

Media Matters for America contacted the New England Journal of Medicine, which confirmed it neither conducted nor published the "survey."

I was trying to remember where I"d seen this BS thread.

DE BUNKED!!

On to the next bullshit story brought to you courtesy of FoxNews!!

Media Matters? Really?

Update on what happened at NEJM

Ya, Media Matters - a non-partisan organization that checks the accuracy of reports in the media.

In this case, yet another wad of bullshit.

NEJM did NOT conduct the above referenced poll. It's bullshit.

so I guess the editors and others at the new england journal are just too stupid or what..
if it was in the journal then was it just a mistake or an experiment or what???

if it was IN the journal, that tells me what I need to know.

It wasn't in the Journal, you stupid joke.

It's a lie, like your teaching certification.
Thanks for reminding us why Texas public schools are shit.

"A long-awaited compromise health care bill drafted by top Democrats will cost $940 billion over the next 10 years, according to a preliminary analysis released Thursday by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

The bill cuts the deficit by $138 billion during that period of time, the Budget Office report said. It would further reduce the deficit by an additional $1.2 trillion in the following decade, "

and blow your shit out your ass

when you get done with that

rinse and repeat.

NOW fuckface

read the sumbitch again...

it was IN the nejm as linked here...did a writer for them write it...I believe that would be a no...but it is there...and for a reason that they apparently want the public to know about
so fuck off ..

The group who did the 'poll' are a search company for new doctors, who, if you read more about it are expecting business to boom to new heights if HCR passes. 30,000,000 new customers with private health insurance chosen from the same pool Congress picks from would be a nice windfall for any doctor's office.

They might be more inclined to make house calls. Make them actually work for their living.

You have no clue how hard doctors work. Also, family MDs don't make as much as you might think.

"They might be more inclined to make house calls. Make them actually work for their living."

Just how many patients could a doctor see a day if traveling to people's homes, as opposed to clinic work? Too many people and too few doctors to ever go back to house calls.

Yet another right wing lie debunked. I don't know what astounds me the most - the fact that the right lies so much, or the fact that they'll eat it up and beg for more.
