Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

A 59-year-old Dallas County jail guard has been fired for allegedly making comments to coworkers that were anti-gay and pro-slavery. Stephen Johnson, 59, persisted in volunteering his religious opinions and speaking out against homosexuality, a department review concluded. He also offered the following opinion on dinosaurs: "I believe that all dinosaurs were born of Satanic angel who has sex with woman and the animal kingdom that created ungodly reptilian creatures none of these were on the Ark."

Tea Party drafted him for VP!

With crazy Sarah of course.

Dallas, eh?

Awwww shit.....here it comes.....

I believe that all dinosaurs were born of Satanic angel who has sex with woman and the animal kingdom that created ungodly reptilian creatures none of these were on the Ark.

You can't fake this kind of stupid. Priceless.

If the jailer had actualy said some real crazy shit he could have become one of Obama's czars or ministers.

Oh, please, my aching sides, oh my god Fatty, why hasn't the Onion returned your emails? AHAHAHAHA HO HAA!

the jailer has an interesting theory about how dinosaurs came to be. It should be investigating at everry major university. Certainly the jailer's theory is equally as valid as evilution.

Please, stop!! I can barely see my keyboard through the tears....AAA HOOOO HAAAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Now, now say something about global warming!!!
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

C'mon Fatty, say something about "HEALTHCARE"

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Sounds like we probably shouldn't tell this guy about gay masters and slaves...

The jailer still has his job as the "go to" guy when they need some quick "peer reviesed" data on global warming.

In his expert testimony before Congress the jailer was quoted as saying, "Even slaves and fags deserve free healthcare."

Fwthom:

Are you staying up nights working on new ways to be contemptible, or what?

The jailer's speech at the UN was translated into 186 languages. "Why can't we all just get along."

"Fwthom:

Are you staying up nights working on new ways to be contemptible"

What else is he going to do with all that free time?

This is why gays need to unionize.

--Danforth

If believing that all homosexuals should be put to death is reason for dismissal, there wouldn't be a lot of Muslims employed in government work.

Hmmmmm.

I think it was the whole "angels sexing dinosaurs" that did it.

I'm surprised they didn't promote this guy. Sounds like a typical good old boy.

Maybe he'll get a job on an oil rig.

Johnson's eyes are suspiciously close together

Says the savant who believes the term 'Czar' is something new under President Obama.

Face it pumpkin, Glen Beck has wasted hours of your life.

Love this video of Beck's Tea Party event in D.C. - the largest gathering of dumbasses in one place in U.S. history.

The bit from 6:23 on about 'Czars' is priceless!

In the sense that everything Johnson professes to believe are semi-understandable nuggets of gold to begin with, rather than an earnestly bizarre philosophy or based in any sciences of un-knowable utterance.

For instance, I write the worst lyrics ever. I do not need to "try".

I would never thoughtlessly pen "Tangled Up In Blue" or "KodaChrome", but instead wield an emotionally confusing "Iotian Deathcock" and endure a 26 minute "Sexadelic Handclap Party" - I'll even recommend the IV mvmt, II variation which leads into "Russian Battle Porn", which is also quite enthusiastic although the choir explosions are not very porny whatsoever. "Musically", they are questionable. Lyrically, they are horrid.

That said I do not profess to be even as musical as early teenage impressionable years Hanson brothers, but possibly just as emotionally fragile when knowingly compromising creative freedom for a lifetime of contractually "Mmm-bopping". Even The Rolling Stones must get sick of "Satisfaction" and make up new words for the fuck of it. I know I do.

That's what Stephen's issue reminds me of - someone who has written off their Kodachrome in lieu of "Angel Sexing Dinosaur". He's too original to be allowed to not get a religious book deal ala William Hung. And yes, I will probably join in his awkward fellowship, for in some strange way I feel that I already may have.

They can fire you for being a member of
the Tea Party?

It just shows that there are people 5 standard deviations from the norm.....this guy, lettuce, rlr, and AU are pretty good proof of that.

"I believe that all dinosaurs were born of Satanic angel who has sex with woman and the animal kingdom that created ungodly reptilian creatures none of these were on the Ark."

I have to admit that my first thought was "it would be pretty cool if shit like this really happened".

I was wondering that myself. Not saying that this guy's opinions aren't waaaay out there, but is it legal to fire this guy simply for his views and opinions? There may be some internal policy that prohibits him discussing these issues on the job; however, on the face of it this looks like his 1st Amendment rights were violated.

I wonder if he'd been fired for "making comments to coworkers that were pro-gay and anti-slavery", or "volunteering his atheist opinions and speaking out in support of homosexuality"...

There is nothing standard about this guy's deviation.
lol.

He also offered the following opinion on dinosaurs: "I believe that all dinosaurs were born of Satanic angel who has sex with woman and the animal kingdom that created ungodly reptilian creatures none of these were on the Ark."

I just thought there was no room for them on the Ark due to the limited cubits... Who knew them and the unicorns weren't allowed on because they were demonic! Learn something new every day.

Wait...they fired him? In Texas? With those views? I am shocked he isn't Warden or something.

So he was fired for what he thought?? America is dissolving. Admittedly, this guy is nuts, but he can believe whatever he wants in a free country and should not be fired.

Think any gay or minority inmates were abused?

Diablo, if he had kept his discriminatory thoughts to himself he would probably still have a job. When you deal with other people on a daily basis you have to be tolerant of others.

It is called diversity.

Kinda part of the job description I would think.

I hate all people but I don't go to work and punch them in the face. No, wait....

First of all, 1st amendment doesnt apply to state, let alone city, employees. Maybe through the 14th, but you people really need to take a con law class before bringing that useless nugget up.

Second, there has been actually some extensive 1st/14th amendment opinions for quite some time under even the more conservative courts about the right to fire state/city (even federal) employees for mouthing off at work. This guy wasnt fired for mouthing off about how incomepetent his boss was or how inefficient the prison system is (generally protected). He mouthed off on non-work related stuff that likely could get other people hurt or at the very least, very angry (and the 1st amendment does not extend in some cases to speach that is intentionally created to incite violence or violent reactions). And again, a lot of this jurisprudence has to do with the 1st amendment as it applies to federal employees, not the right of due process under the 14th amendment to state (or even city employees, who may not even be protected under the 14th).

A lot of you people sure profess to understand the constitution for knowing jack shit about it. This was a crazy county employee saying stupid things unrelated to his job. The fact he got fired should hardly be surprising. Unless the federal constitution magically appiles to all parties everywhere. Which, for coming from many of you espousing KEEP THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF OUR LIVES, seems rather hypocritical.

One of the biggest arguments of the mid 1800's was whether bill of rights even applies to the states...hmmm

Re-read the article. He didn't bring up the conversation; he interupted a pre-existing conversation. If this guy deserves to get fired for bringing up viewpoints in the office, so do the other fellas that were talking about homosexuals in the first place. Otherwise, this firing fosters the idea that only state and local government employees with minority viewpoints or viewpoints that differ from the boss can be fired for holding those viewpoints.

Again, do you think he would have been fired for "making comments to coworkers that were pro-gay and anti-slavery", or "volunteering his atheist opinions and speaking out in support of homosexuality"? I think not.

...on the face of it this looks like his 1st Amendment rights were violated.

Police officers and correctional institutional workers are both subject to psychological review boards. They get paid to keep their prejudices to themselves and treat everyone under their authority with equal fairness. There is an old saying in the Merchant Marines, loose lips sink ships.

I believe that all dinosaurs were born of Satanic angel who has sex with woman and the animal kingdom that created ungodly reptilian creatures none of these were on the Ark.

That's not an argument against evolution.

The guy who sed that, on the other hand...

Be Well.

And yet, Johnson had passed his examinations to date.. there are probably more crazies yet to pop out from the authority-side of their Texan correctional system.

Again, do you think he would have been fired for "making comments to coworkers that were pro-gay and anti-slavery", or "volunteering his atheist opinions and speaking out in support of homosexuality"? I think not.

actually Bartimus you are wrong. At least in the Federal workplace diversity is very important. There is zero tolerance for this type of behavior.

Bringing up one of those issues once is no big deal. Bringing them up often could get you a reprimand. Statements that could be offensive to other employees are not acceptable and counterproductive in the workplace. If I reprimand someone and they continue with their rants and especially if someone complains I can put them on a PIP, Performance Improvement Plan. If they fail to meet the requirements of the Plan (like STFU about that stuff) I can fire him without further warning.
