By race, white men had the highest level of current drinkers (69.9 percent) while Asian adults had the highest rate of lifetime abstinence (47.8 percent).

Just in time for St. Paddy's Day!

So low? I would have guessed 85%.

That explains a lot.

Spud'll drink to THAT!

* Hic *

^_^

Be Well.

/But pot is the "gateway drug"?

I'll show you politics in America. Here it is, right here.

"I think the puppet on the right shares my beliefs."

"I think the puppet on the left is more to my liking."

"Hey, wait a minute, there's one guy holding out both puppets!"

"Shut up! Go back to bed, America. Your government is in control. Here's American Idol. Watch this and get fat and stupid.

By the way, keep drinking beer, you fucking morons."

Paraphrasing Bill Hicks

considering that it is legal, so what.

make that 61%...

Since over 95% of heroin addicts started out smoking cigarettes that makes tobacco THE gateway drug doesn't it?

Don't go to Vegas if you want to be sober. They got booze all over. They totally corrupted me. I am drinking a case a month now since coming back from vacation there.

With the economy being down you would think more people were boozing it up to drown out their sorrows. Maybe it becomes too expensive to afford.

My guess would be drinking is up right now compared to the recent past.

New study just in.....40% of Americans are liars.

don't blame vegas on your problems. if you have no control don't tempt yourself. 95% started on tobacco, but what % of cigarettes smokers do heroin.

What percent of cigarette smokers do pot?

What is the REAL gateway drug here?

Well, if you're a talk radio host, oxycotin.

the real gateway drug? I believe near 100% of all forms of drug / alcohol / tobacco users were at one time milk drinkers. Milk is the gateway drug.

I know, I know. Thank god you're lactose intolerant.

60% are "current" drinkers, what does that mean? One drink in the past hour? Seriously almost everyone I know drinks at least once every couple weeks. I would agree with that 85% number MSGT put out there. I sure as hell don't belive 25% were lifetime abstainers. I mean I'm not a current drinker but sure not a lifetime abstainer either. I think some folks were lying a bit to make themselves look better.

Did they ask Lindsey Lohan?

It was 40% when Obama was elected.

Good point---I love these survey results when they don't state the specifics. But doggone, Tao, who the heck you hang with?---if I have a drink every 2 months, it'd be a lot---the ones you hang with and drink; just 1 when drink, 2, 3, etc.

Do you count Nyquil as a beverage?

They have this beer in Utah called Polygamy porter. Why have just one? I thought it was funny until I noticed the 4%. I had to have multiple to catch a buzz. Damn Utah beer.

Up here some brew pubs sport up to 14% brew, but most brews are at 6-8%. You can only have 3 beers and after that you can buy more but you have to leave to drink it. 3's all it takes anyway, micro brew hangovers SUCK.

I would have figured it would have been more like 75% of US adults are drinkers.

But maybe it's the people I hang around with.

Hey Wurster, you ever tried He-Brew, the Chosen Beer?

I'll drink to that!

"Did they ask Lindsey Lohan?"

Me and my friends, we just think of her as Lindsey.

"Milk-a-wha??"

100% of the people I know in Portland drink, but how can you not with all of the delicious beer here?

They need something to do in between heroin fixes.

They need something to do in between heroin fixes.

Ah cmon.. The addicts are on the streets begging for change and offering BJ's for 5 bucks... They would never waste their money on sweet delicious beer.

Drug addicts.

Ahhhh....Beer!

Guinness: A drink, a show and a meal all in a single glass. Not to mention "eco-friendly" since it uses nitrogen for bubbles rather than just carbon dioxide.

Happy St. Patty's Day!!! NO GREEN BEER.

To GUINNESS!

How about a stat on the percentage of my tax money the government spends on ANYTHING that's actually of use to ME???

Which hack's brother-in-law did did this freaking study, and how much was he paid?? Jeee-sus H. Christ!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

www.youtube.com

how long before the government saves us from beer and taxes it to death?

Well, This lifts my spirits a little bit.

It's nice to read some good news every now and then.

I am drinking a case a month now since coming back from vacation there.

That's all? Slacker.

I used to think drinking was fun until it almost killed my wife and our marriage. Now I stick to pot...so much safer and I don't leave the baby in weird places anymore.

I used to think drinking was fun until it almost killed my wife and our marriage.

Sounds like you sucked at drinking. Hopefully you are a better pot smoker...

"If I had all the money I ever spent on drink (pause) I'd spend it on drink"

This was a favorite line of one of Spud's oldest friends fer years.

He was an alcoholic.

He is dead now.

Be Well.

Sorry to hear about your friend, but it doesn't sound like s/he was a very good drinker either.
