As long as the constitution lives in the hearts and minds of enough people it isn't completely dead.
I hope you prove correct.
This country has certainly seen a renewed interest in the text itself as well as biting criticism of the leftist agenda vis a vis Atlas Shrugged, warts and all.
Jeffn,
I have re-read the Constitution 3 times over the last 12 months. Going further, I am currently half-way through this:

I have been somewhat shocked to discover how blatantly unconstitutional a vast majority of leftist legislation has proven to be.
This great nation is one based upon a Democratic Republic that, at a federal level, has its powers seriously restricted by a constitution. Yes, times change and the founders were salient enough to recognize that. This is precisely why they instituted the ammendment process - it allowed for sweeping-change, but with serious obstacles. Well, said obstacles become annoyances-to-be-bypassed by tyrant, leftist thugs and they succeeded.
Look at where we are today - Obamacare is so flagrantly unconstitutional, I don't even know where to begin...
Here's the thing though: Social Security, Medicare and a whole slew of other pieces of legislation were blatantly unconstitutional; BUT, they at least had both public support and bi-partisanship. It is possible that they could have passed via the ammendment process, and in which case they should be touted as a product of the established-system. But, they circumvented the system and did so in an almost irreperable fashion.
Leftists got all agitated when Bush allegedly referred to the constitution as a "God-Damned piece-of-paper!"
It was a BIG deal. Yet, when Chuck Schumer is caught ON-TAPE stating that his party can change whatever the hell it wants...the press is silent - but I digress.
Going back to my original point - leftists are downright comical when they feign reverance for a document that they routinely spit on when it proves even remotely inconvenient.
