It just goes to show the chutzpah of corporate America these days that a discard like Fiorina thinks her losership of HP qualifies her for the U.S. Senate.

This is great news long-term for conservatives. Banks at least were motivated to get the education loan money out the door as quickly as possible.

Now, hundreds of thousands of college kids will get introduced to what it's like waiting for some government bureaucrat to get off his ass before you get paid. And by then, classes have already started.

It's good they learn things like that as early as possible. Usually you have to go into business for yourself before you realize the uselessness of government. Courtesy of Obama, that's now been moved up to Freshman Orientation.

the only thing that sucks about this is that it had to be inserted into an unrelated bill in order to be passed. in a country that wasnt owned and operated by the banks, this wouldnt be necessary.

If they had paid more attention in their eight grade math class they would not have taken out a loan at a 20% interest rate. I paid 4% and had it paid off in 5 years.

The money to pay it back will come from the students themselves, just like it does now. Only they'll pay it back at a lower percentage because the loan is provided by a government instead of a bunch or greedy corporate fatcat fucks.

It's ridiculous that anyone would support a system where the government lends money to banks who borrow it then add a huge profit margin and soak college students faced with ever rising tuition bills.

Direct lending is the pragmatic approach. One the GOP don't want to take because they're in the pockets of every scheme that nets profits for corporations at the expense of average Americans.
