Last week, the conservative broadcaster Glenn Beck called on Christians to leave their churches if they heard any preaching about social or economic justice because, he claimed, those were slogans affiliated with Nazism and Communism.

This week, the Rev. Jim Wallis, a liberal evangelical leader in Washington, D.C., called on Christians to leave Glenn Beck.

Beck: Springsteen's 'Born in the USA' is Anti-American Propaganda

Beck, the admitted circus clown, fake crying, flip-flopping on conservative stands stunt actor performs these acts every so often to purposefully sell out the "right", provide cover for the "left" thus keeping a "balance" for both sides' rallying cries toward the big prize --one world government.

That'll make your magic underwear ride up.

"a liberal evangelical leader"!!!- No such aminal....Next!- The Holy Right

A real christian, the kind the follows jesus' words, would be the most leftist progressive you'd ever seen.

A fox watching republican christian is the biggest hippocrit in the world.

While it is anachronistic and somewhat useless to attach modern political labels on historical figures (especially those of the Ancient world) the earliest Christians sought to live out the life of Christ's teachings and did so in a way that reflect what we would characterize as socialist principles.

The very early church was very communal and interested in redistributing whatever wealth they possessed among its own members and other poor.

In the medieval world, monasticism likewise was based on communal wealth and labor with vows of obedience given to the communal leader (the abbot).

I'm an atheist. Can I boycott that Vicks-Vapo-Rub sniffing, magic-underwear wearing, greased up dumbfuck too?

@#7... no..., sorry. ;-)

Except for the medieval part (or maybe not), that sounds exactly like a guy named Jim Jones.

Beck, a Morman, may want to get out the word to Mitt Romney supports to not do

THIS

supporters not to....

Except that abbots were elected to their office by members of the monastic community, and this was usually done only after the community had known the monk (who would be abbot) after years of working and praying side by side.

Abbots didn't order their monastic communities to commit suicide. A person can choose to be a monk or decide to leave the order without fear for his life.

Moreoever, the monastic orders developed in the Church in the early sixth and seventh centuries and are still around today. How long did Jim Jones cult last?

This will only boost Beck's ratings. The last I read, he's second after O'Reilly on FOX.

Yeah, but put that in perspective. Beck isn't a newsman. He's a reincarnation of PT Barnum brought to life in order to prove that there really is a sucker born every minute. The less educated one is the more likely one is to but into Beckie's lies, overstatements and sheer propaganda. The fact that so many Americans are too stupid to figure this out is not a point of pride for the US.

Pogs and pet rocks were popular too once upon a time.

They were still stupid ideas.

Be Well.

"called on Christians to leave their churches if they heard any preaching about social or economic justice"

Jesus is not amused. He talks to me all the time. He's not a fan of Beck but he does very much like Squidbillies.

I love it. Every time a church distributes voter guides, or a pastor gives a sermon on homosexuality, the libbies run around and want to strip away their tax exemption because they're getting involved in political issues. But when libbie churches do it--no problem.

Ask yourselves something sometime: were tax-exempt status to be revoked, whom would be hurt more? The white, middle- and upper-class suburban churches? Or the kind that Obama and Wallis go to?

Libtards are funny.

* * * *

That's a good example of taking something grossly out of context. I wonder is Wallis takes similar liberties with other things. You know, like the Bible.

Riddle me this-batshit-how does boycotting an egotistical liar like Becky translate to political Campaigning?

While he is a political commentator-HE"S not running for Office himself.

Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer;
You shall cry, and He will say, Here I am.'
If you take away the yoke from your midst,
The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,

If you extend your soul to the hungry
And satisfy the afflicted soul,
Then your light shall dawn in the darkness,
And your darkness shall be as the noonday.

-- Isaiah 58:9,10
