Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Thursday, March 11, 2010

A new government ad in Britain produced in conjunction with national radio outlet TallkSport, promotes the "anti-terrorist hotline" and encourages people to report individuals who don't talk to their neighbors much, people who like to keep themselves to themselves, people who close their curtains, and people who don't use credit cards. The sheer lunacy is obvious but the deeper message, everyone has a responsibility to act as a citizen spy, a Stasi informant working for the state, and that everyone is under constant suspicion no matter how benign their behavior. Another aspect is the accelerating attempt to create a cashless society where every transaction is tracked and recorded. To predominantly eliminate the use of cash, it has to be demonized as suspicious, dirty and criminal.

Since many of you will read the thread and have no inclination to read the underlying story, you'll miss the screen shots of the actual brainwashing techniques used.

Picture of trash dumpster with caption: These chemicals won't be used in a bomb because your neighbor reported them.

Picture of a public gathering with a mother holding an infant with the caption: a bomb won't go off here because weeks earlier because a shopper reported someone studying the CCTV cameras.

For many years I've operated under the idea that if I don't have the cash for something, I can't afford it. Last week I had to buy new glasses. I got 3 pairs. Walked in and handed them 9 $100 bills. The lady behind the counter said she didn't think she had ever handled that many $100 bills at once before.

That really bugged me. I know most people who didn't put something like that on plastic would write a check, but is cash really that rare? That's really sad. I love it because the transaction's so clean. You pay, you get change and a receipt and it's done. There's no payments to be made, no interest, no threat of bounced check or bank mistake. They have their money and I have my product.

On the other front, it's probably a side effect of my upbringing, but I always try to know my neighbors -at least a little. I figure if my house catches fire, it's their door I'll be banging on at 3am. That's not the time for introductions. Likewise, I want them to feel comfortable banging on my door if they've got trouble.

L_RContrarian,
Why are you posting artcles about England?
Most of the bloggers on DR can't even find England on the map.

Scary concept. I fit much of that, but that mainly due to my not speaking Spanish and 100% of my neighbors not knowing English.

I expected a question on why England. There are multiple reasons:

First, the parallel is very evident here. Recall the John Elway/DHS video entitled "Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere: Understanding the Threat of Terrorism" on recognizing terrorism? It's the exact same concept. Normal activities like take pictures [which is becoming illegal in public places], buying gold, owning guns, using a watch or binoculars, donating to charity. As the article portrays, this has a direct correlation to the MIAC Report, and Domestic Extremism Lexicon memo documents that were leaked and uncovered.

Second, in Britain, while we are in lockstep with them, they are a little ahead of us in their implementation of the big brother/police state control grid as their economy has been in depression for much longer. They have millions of CCTV cameras along the streets, paid programs to have citizens monitor them online. They are also further along with their nanny state laws purposely designed to destroy Constitutional protections that are quite similar to ours. British headlines are what we have to look forward to as conditions worsen here.
