Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) railed against the Washington press corps today on the House floor for paying more attention to the likes of scandal-ridden former Rep. Eric Massa than the war in Afghanistan. "There's two press people in this gallery," Kennedy yelled during a debate over an anti-war resolution. "We're talking about Eric Massa 24-7 on the TV, we're talking about war and peace, $3 billion, 1,000 lives and no press? No press."

Poor Kennedy is all stressed out. He needs a long quite drive over a scenic bridge with one arm around a bimbo and the other hopefully on the steering wheel.

The MSM is a Weapon of Mass Distraction.

Be Well.

The first thing that came to mind was Jimmy Swaggart (or who was it?) Who would cry all the time and people would pour the money in. Then his son took over the act and did the same thing. Didn't work as well.

The faux anger from all the Kennedies is laughable. People who believe that they are even remotely sincere with their emotion are just as stupid as someone sending in their last dollar in their fixed income.

9 to 5 he was drunk or on his way to get drunk or drugged up he IS a kennedy you know...and when your family fortune was made on bootlegging...well its in his genes.

Typical neo-con non-response.

References to Eric Massa and 24/7 coverage of mindless bread and circuses covered by the corporate media are no mistake. By the early 1950s, the CIA owned the corporate media and used it to promulgate propaganda.

Former Wall Street lawyer Frank Wisner created Operation Mockingbird in 1948 and recruited Philip Graham of the Washington Post to run the project. Mockingbird eventually controlled news reported by the New York Times, Newsweek, the New York Herald Tribune, Time Magazine, and hundreds of other newspapers and magazines in the United States and around the world.

By the 1950s, according to Alex Constantine in Mockingbird: The Subversion Of The Free Press By The CIA, "some 3,000 salaried and contract CIA employees were eventually engaged in propaganda efforts." Wisner was also able to restrict newspapers from reporting about certain events. For example, the CIA plots to overthrow the governments of Iran and Guatemala.

"The CIA currently maintains a network of several hundred foreign individuals around the world who provide intelligence for the CIA and at times attempt to influence opinion through the use of covert propaganda. These individuals provide the CIA with direct access to a large number of newspapers and periodicals, scores of press services and news agencies, radio and television stations, commercial book publishers, and other foreign media outlets." :the Church Committee -1975.

Operation Mockingbird, then and now, is all about keeping the American people in the dark as the elite perpetuate highly profitable war and endless crimes against humanity. "It is primarily from U.S. citizens that the U.S. Government must keep the true nature and real purpose of so many of its domestic and foreign acts secret while it manufactures fear and falsehood to manipulate the U.S. public." :Ellen Ray and William H. Schaap Covert Action: the Roots of Terrorism.

post 5 has nothing to do with the murdering icon of the dem party and his offspring who got CERTAIN traits in their dna.
but its a hell of a nice presentation...

The maelstrom media has never been good about covering the war in the past unless it behooved them to do so - why all the whining now?

post 5 has nothing to do with the murdering icon of the dem party and his offspring

#1, #4, #6 have nothing to do with the posted message being portrayed. Instead, in order to jusify the neo-con religion of perpetual wars, they must demonize the messenger.

ah good comeback.....lets remember that next time fox news is attacked or someone like karl rove is used as a source..

lol

So was the media's inatention to any important facts during the presidential campaign, too, but what's new? They're gonna try to continue for their boy as long as they can...in this case, for doing the right thing and attempting to win the war.....didn't see any outrage from him about the press coverage of the Iraq War on Bush's watch or the presidential campaign, or, for that matter, on his families serial misdeeds....

Deflec, having an extra chromosome does not make you an expert on genetics.

the corporate media is only worth something to those who own it.

ALL OF IT!

Interesting how focused they were on the war when President Bush was in office (daily body counts etc.).

He outburst sounded like the ramblings of a very drunk man. Really following in papa's footsteps. What a jackass no wonder he;'s not running for another term he's a fool.

And a Kenyan born usurper has seized control of the White House & No Press?
Our very Constitution is being shredded daily & no press?

The corporate media has always used "non-reporting" as their vehicle to manipulate the huddled masses and promote their underlying agenda. It is obvious that the media has been giving the Wall Street hucksters, our endless multiple wars, and the Israeli settlement action (that always comes back to bite us in the ass as it did on 9-11) a complete pass. Instead they beat the drums about BS stuff.

When will these Kennedy's finally go away?

Contrarian - That is a crock. I know MANY people who work for the CIA. BELIEVE ME - no way in hell that is happening.

You are basically saying that the same agency that screwed up on WMDs in Iraq effectively controls the US Press. Think about that.

You are also saying that it is effective....think about that for a second and who was the face of news no more than 5 years ago..Rather, Brokaw, etc.

Now look at the difference in coverage..and look at the proliferation of the web technology.

The Press did not cover Kennedy because he is a nobody who thinks he is somebody..and they knew the resolution would not pass...and his basic premise is not valid.

Kennedy "mystique" is over - Most of the people that were around then and loved them are now dead and no longer in power at any of the mainstream media outlets (which are dying)

*shrug* He's right the media priorities are screwed up and agenda biased.

and when your family fortune was made on bootlegging...well its in his genes.

It's in his jeans after "one-too-many"

@#15

That's because he's not "Kenyan" and he didn't "seize control," he was elected.

As for the Constitution being shredded, that happened on GWB's watch, but you're correct, there was no press on that.

Maybe it's because Murdoch and the businesses own all the press?

Nah, that couldn't be it.

I posted this yesterday... Guess RCADE Won't post anything unless it's from the Chosen few...

There were only 2 people from the media in the room because this resolution is so fucking stupid its laughable.

Bring home the troops in 30 days!

Or more days if you can't do it in 30 days!

Lets have a vote!

Funny; People here don't seem to be arguing the "message", instead they smear the messenger: racism, familial ties, genetics???

It would seem a lot of people are lacking an argument; as it appears to be self evident that we don't get full and accurate information from the press. Whether it be the ongoing conflicts in either Iraq or Afghanistan, or the general nuts and bolts bureaucracy guiding our nation; it's all diversion and slight of hand. But, it's been this way for some time. How many times have we heard complaints (from all political affiliations) about corporate news coverage of Paris Hilton and the whacky antics of _______ (enter train-wreck here), while the real news fades into the camouflage of background noise???

This isn't a partisan issue; it's an American social issue: will Americans be honestly informed as we attempt to navigate our way into our collective futures? Or, will we be lead around with blinders on by a spoonful of pablum???

Who cares about the name of the person saying it, or the letter after their name???

# Capt Of Uranus.

Dude you are 100% correct... But look at who we are dealing with in the press... Idiots basically...

Just goes to show that they are obsessed with reporting the stupid...

I went over my older brothers house the other day, He was watching the stupidest shit on Television while I was fixing his computer. (Spilled Coffee on the damn thing)

Anyway there he is watching re-runs of South Park. Entertainment tonight Dancing with the stars... Every time I asked him to change the channel he just put something stupider than the last on... He Tvos the shit....

The media is turning America into Morons and it is starting to rub off on themselves.

I had to tell him If you're over fifty and you're watching two hours of Cartoons on TV, and you're entertained by that, YOUR AN IDIOT.

Well he didn't pay me for replacing his motherboard...

Apparently he's not watching FOXNews.

South Park is some funny shit. STFU.

Patrick Kennedy is a drug addict.

I have to agree with you there. It's hard to believe that the whole dumbing-down of Americans; from the education system, to the entertainment industry: electronic media and television, isn't somehow by design. I know that would be considered paranoia by most people and a conspiracy theory by others, however when you look at all things combined, it's hard not to at least contemplate the idea...

I do sometimes enjoy South Park and other mindless entertainment; but I'm not quite fifty yet... ;~}

I have never understood the attraction of those reality shows: Survivor, Dancing w/, Am-Idol, Who Wants to (fill in the blank), etc. Watching them always makes me want to crawl out of my skin after the first five minutes...

***"Patrick Kennedy is a drug addict."

Could be, but that really doesn't change the fact that what he said was accurate...

You are basically saying that the same agency that screwed up on WMDs in Iraq effectively controls the US Press. Think about that.

So, "friend of the CIA", which completely documented (did you follow the links) claim do you deny? That Operation Mockingbird exists or CIA/terrorism links? So you are still selling the "bad intelligence" claims of WMD? Do you know these "friends" well? Since you claim to "know people", it can't possibly be true?

wiki-Operation Mockingbird

Ah, Kennedy says: "You want to know why the American public is fit?"

Fit? What does that mean? ...the American public is fit?

They (the American public) work out? They're in shape? What?

The tabloidization of the American MSM is a serious concern.

The argument from the MSM is that people want to fed fluff pieces and gossip and ads disguised as news rather than hard hitting investigative journalism that accurately informs on the real issues of the day and holds politicans feet to the fire.

Spud is reminded of a joke.

"I got kicked out of seaworld once for feeding fried chicken to the dolphins.

"They only eat fish" complained the staff.

Well, if that's all you feed them..."

Be Well.

"The MSM is a Weapon of Mass Distraction."

I tend to look at it the other way.

There is no nefarious media conspiracy to keep us distracted from real issues.

The media simply gives us what is going to produce the highest ratings so they can maximize revenue.

Same thing with our politicians focusing on idiotic wedge issues like abortion. Why do they do it? Because it works. Why does it work?

Because Americans are very lazy and ignorant about our politics. We don't really want to be all that bothered. People tend to support one of two parties and their pre-packaged ideas without question because it is easy. Rather than learn about the real issues that affect us, which change from time to time and can be complicated, we want to talk about idiotic wedge issues that never change. Our "news" is so pathetic because we don't want to hear about complex issues or about war. We want idiotic scandals.

I don't think the media needs to apologize for this. They are in the business of making money. However, given that, journalists who work for such media outlets have zero reason to be proud of their profession.

Good for him. He has guts. The media has already helped Obama get elected so there's no further reason to cover issues like poverty, the war, and global warming ought to now be held as suspect so that we don't have to go green all of a sudden during an economic downturn.

When will these Kennedy's finally go away?

#17 | Posted by Docsmooth at

when the booze and dope and sluts are all gone.

Afka babbles about Kennedy bucks coming from violating prohibition. That, Afka, ended before your birth, and attests to the rigid right having nothing more recent with which to attack its betters.

The new generation of Kennedys was right on, of course. The press remains a corporate institution, under the firm thumb of the rigid ones, and its goal with Massas, Sanfords, Prejeans and Palins is to dumb the public down so less attention is paid to sons and daughters of the poor dying on mideastern deserts. herm

He's right the media priorities are screwed up and agenda biased.
