The Daily Breeze:
Santa Monica officials said today they were investigating reports that a sushi restaurant has been serving whale -- a federally protected marine mammal.

Federal officials said Tuesday they were looking into reports that The Hump, a trendy sushi restaurant at the Santa Monica Airport, has served whale sushi as recently as last week.

Possession or sale of marine mammals is a violation of the Marine Mammal Protection Act. Conviction can lead to a year in federal prison and fines, according to an affidavit filed in relation to the case in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles.

Looks like Shamu got a death sentence.

Spare me your blubbering.

And I don't want to hear any of you PETA supporters spouting off, either.

"they were looking into reports that The Hump, a trendy sushi restaurant at the Santa Monica Airport, has served whale sushi"

It could've been a fluke.

I eat at Hump all the time, and have never seen this on the menu, nor have the sushi chefs ever even hinted that they have it when you ask if they have off-menu items.

Sounds to me like the Cove producers are trying to extend their moment in the sun.

Were you asking about Fugu?

When in Japan, @ '65, this was one of those apocryphal scare stories told about raw-fish-poisoning to keep the tourists from getting used to this delicious treat.

Now, it costs too much and is saved for home consumption, in the main, and along with various types of "whales".

They are already "protecting" sharks, and then can scallops be far behind ... when the neo-communists get to be in-charge ...???

G'evening, Tadowe. *wink*

Hi, Chris. How is California doing with jobs? Aren't state employees (my, so many of them!) due a COL increase? Pensions, too?

Won't be long to see if California's experiments in socialism are the success everyone wanted them to be, huh?

Can the nation be far behind California, when voters realize than they can vote themselves benefits by taking it from others?

How about that? Ready to fire some unecessary bureaucrats and teachers proven to be ineffective, even damaging in not teaching properly?

Lay-off from desk level, first and top-to-bottom ... rollback on pay and pension to realistic levels ... pay for performance, up or out ...

I thought Dom Deluise was cremated.

They would have buried him at sea but the oil slick would've killed too many birds and seals.
