The Obama administration will accept no more public input for a federal strategy that could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing the nation's oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters.

I'll give up my fishing pole when they pry my cold dead hands from it...

We are friggin living in Atlas Shrugged...

The day a man can't fool a starving fish by sticking a sharp hook into its mouth, wearing it down to exhaustion, tangling it up in a net, and clubbing it with an empty beer bottle before throwing it in a cooler to devour later will truly be a sad day for this country.

It's funny to see the idiotic Obama haters like cockfisher piss their pants over imaginary bullshit like this.

Pure, unadulterated bullshit.

Suddenly Arkansas's upcoming Constitutional amendment to guarantee the right to hunt and fish doesn't seem so hyperbolic.

I can say with a reasonable certainty that the federal government can pass whatever law they want and this state will go right on fishing -and hunting.

Blanche Lincoln must hate the Obama administration. It's like he's personally driving the nails into her coffin and she's most definitely inside.

If he's successful in driving her out this November, that'll be the third thing I have to thank him for.

Is ESPN a right wing rag? I don't watch sports so I wouldn't know. Just wondering why a sports network would make up a story like this.

"I knew that fish, man. He played a mean bass, and hung out with me and the B-52's, man, and, like he influenced REM too and junk. And you killed it, man, and ate it. Not cool."

It wasn't imaginary when California listened to some out of staters and restricted some of the best fishing in the world off the coast of Catalina. These same clowns who never fished a day in their life, claimed commercial fishing and sportfishing were equal in the amount of fish caught. Of course all it did was drove the business out of the USA and right into Mexico.

Allright AU, what idiotic rightwinger said something bad about Obama, which automatically triggered your Bush response?

Allright AU, what idiotic rightwinger said something bad about Obama, which automatically triggered your Bush response?

We're talking about fish and human beings.

Bush's statement is humorous and on topic.

If there's any silver lining to the ridiculous piece of shit we call a "president" it's that he's destroying the prospects for the Democrat party for at least a decade---and hopefully, for generations.

This guy is a bald-faced fucking ideologue----a smug little fuck that's never accomplished a goddamn thing in his life before a criminally incompetent media elected him President.

If he's not trying to ram through a despised bill on a purely partisan vote that socializes and destroys our health care system, he's kow-towing to extremist scum that promulgate the kind policy this article highlights.

History will eventually show that the major story of this current era was the abject failure of the American news media to do it's fundamental job: inform the America people about candidates.

The consequence is that this foreign, yellow, un-American, Marxist scum who has absolutely no concept of the American Experience was nominated by a major party and elected President.

This isn't a Democrat or Republican thing.

This is a complete failure of an America institution---and it should never, ever happen again.

What a fucking travesty.

My my.....

This guy is a bald-faced fucking ideologue----a smug little fuck that's never accomplished a goddamn thing in his life before a criminally incompetent media elected him President.

You described George W Bush to a T! Kudos!

"And evidence suggests that these organizations have been the engine behind the task force since before Obama issued a memo creating it last June."

WTF?

we have seen no evidence from NOAA or the task force that recreational fishing and related jobs are receiving any priority

well, duh!

You described George W Bush to a T! Kudos!

Oh.

A Bush allusion.

How original.

Uh oh.

I am posting at the same time as Mao.

I am sure Nullifidian will be along any time now to accuse me of...hmmm...waving pom-poms. That is about the extent of his originality.

A Bush allusion.

How original.

An Obama rant. How original.

Dude, you rail on Obama, I'll be happy to point out what a failed businessman and arrogant idiot W was. That's how it's gonna work.

Somehow you like to pretend Bush's Presidency never happened, and all our plethora of massive troubles started January 20th, 2009 rather than being inherited from the idiot-in-chief who left America in a smoking heap after being handed a country in great shape from Clinton.

Dude, you rail on Obama, I'll be happy to point out what a failed businessman and arrogant idiot W was

Bush is a fucking Reagan compared to this little sack of Communist lizard cum you've decided you need to wave your pom-poms for.

That is about the extent of his originality

He's got the "Texas is #47 (or last, depending on number of bong hits consumed that hour, I presume) in education amongst the states" down pat.

Somehow you like to pretend Bush's Presidency never happened

No, Swish.

I pine for the kind of leadership we had during the Bush administration.

So do most Americans.

Dude, you rail on Obama, I'll be happy to point out what a failed businessman and arrogant idiot W was. That's how it's gonna work.

It's a deflection and nothing more.

Bush is out of office now.

IMO you'd be far better off addressing the points of contention regarding Obama (or possibly even agreeing with a couple of them) than just looking backwards and saying, "Bush was horrible!" That Bush was a lousy president does nothing to mitigate criticisms, valid or invalid, of Obama's performance thus far.

Swish?

It's quite a testament to the leadership qualities of little Barry that, whenever criticized, his sycophants are reduced to invoking the perceived sins of his predecessor.

Every single time.

Swish?

Look it up.

I think it's apropos of the objects.

Ya, sure, whatever you say, JAK Looks like you're stooping to personal meaningless insults, so how about if I call you Howdy Doody from now on? Ask you to break out into "Oklahoma" dance numbers?

All 21% who approve of Bush's Presidency? Pine for increasing the national debt 145%, starting unnecessary $2 Trillion dollar wars? Other unfunded trillion dollar programs? Piss of our friends around the world? Lose 4000 Americans their lives?

What do you pine for? Must be failed leadership.

All 21% who approve of Bush's Presidency?

All 44% who wish he was President again.

JAK

I don't call the unemployment rate falling form 800,000 a month to 20-30,000 'failure'.
I don't call bringing the economy from the brink of depression 'failure'.
I don't call finishing the job in Afghanistan 'failure'.
I don't call restoring our relationships with allies 'failure'.
I don't call not a single attack on the U.S. 'failure'.

You're a hater. And a racist one at that. When facts are brought into the equation your rants sound absolutely ridiculous.

BTW, I never hated Bush. I hoped he'd do well. He far exceeded most everyone's expectations of how horrible a President someone could be.

He left office with the lowest recorded approval numbers since they started taking polls - even beating out Richard Nixon. Sorry, most people don't agree with you about Bush.

I am sure Nullifidian will be along any time now to accuse me of...hmmm...waving pom-poms.

...or the deeply ingrained "proprietarianism" that poisons your fundamental understanding of the human condition because you're not a smart, dope-smoking philosopher like him.

Jak is a foolish troll. Not once has he ever added anything to the discussion. Funniest thing is how he talks like a hardass yet when he posted his pic I couldn't stop laughing. An average 8th grader probably has more physical body strength. A strong desert wind would blow him over.

You always make fun of how other people look, ratsa, but you never post your picture. Why is that? Too big of a pussy? Yep, I'll bet that's it, ain't it tough guy? LOL

I don't call the unemployment rate falling form 800,000 a month to 20-30,000 'failure'.

But that's "scrawny".

I'm curious about ole Fuckass.

Coors Beer cans are the easiest to crush. LOL

JAK

It's evident you're a racist Republican. No surprises there.

Reckon what the little fucker weighs?

Internet tough guys like him are usually pudgy fucks. I figure that jackass would be round if he was 3" taller

There's certainly a pattern there...

I call 10% unemployment a failure.

Bush started his Presidency with 4% unemployment.

Bush's last month in office:

US unemployment: highest job losses for year since second world war

We lost 700,000 jobs January 2009 - Bush's last month
We lost 26,000 jobs January 2010

What's that about 'failure'?

Do you know where Cotulla is, Jackass?

You being in Laredo and all, its right up the road.

Surely you do?

Bush started his Presidency with 4% unemployment.

Barry's over a year into his with 10% unemployment.

To his credit, though, it's on purpose.

20,000,000 new jobs created during Clinton's 8 years

8.4 million jobs lost during Bush's Presidency.

What were you saying about 'failure'?

Should we put it in 'numbers of cows'? OK

Bush lost 700,000 cows a month his last few months in office.
Obama's been losing 20-30,000 cows a month in the same months a year later

Now, who would you trust your cows to?

#42 | Posted by Jak_Se_Mao

Coors, racism, and a computer don't make a flattering combination

Little Barry's objective is the emasculation of the private sector economy and the cutting of America down to size so that it fits into his ideological construct of how the world should be.

In that respect, he's doing quite well.

What a insidious, despical piece of shit.

Clinton's 8 years

LOL.

Jesus Christ.

Now we've deflected to Clinton.

Should we put it in 'numbers of cows'?

You're not smart enough to be condescending.

You want to compare Presidencies for the 'failure' test, I'm game. I gave my numbers. You give hyperbole.

When Bush was President we heard more about Clinton and Carter than Carter has liver pills. Enough of the faux outrage about 'deflections'.

I'm comparing actual numbers between Presidencies so there's some actual measurement of 'failure' vs 'success'. That is, if you're interested in reality, JAK.

You want to go the personal insult route, don't get your vajayjay in a twist when someone condescends.

Did someone really deflect to Bush in a thread about the possibility of the Obama admin restricting sport fishing? Was it really AU who claims to only bring up Bush when it's pertinent?

LOL!

You're not smart enough to be condescending.

I most certainly am. There's nothing wrong with being a rancher.

You don't to deal in reality and actual figures to compare Presidencies, we'll just put them in terms maybe you will ponder, although you're far too racist and hyperbolic to ever live in the massive reality of what was left on the doorstep of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave January 20th, 2009 for the next guy to deal with - whoever he'd been.

Bush is the definition of failure. Deal with it.

I gave my numbers.

But your numbers don't mean anything because they ignore things like "time" and "context".

Unemployment was low during the Bush years.

It's high during the Obama year.

It remains high because Obama is an ideological jackass that cannot bring himself to do what makes the American economy better.

That's because Obama is not interested in making the American economy better.

You don't to deal in reality and actual figures to compare Presidencies

Oh but I do.

Unemployment.

Defecits.

Debt.

Your boy is a failure.

AU, if you didn't so obviously deflect to Bush every chance you got, you'd get more agreement from me and probably a lot of people. In my book, so far Bush < Obama in terms of presidential success by a long, long shot, but deflecting to him every time the Obama admin makes a booboo doesn't make your case very well.

I hope Obama does prohibit sports fishing. It's not much of a sport. You can do the same thing without a fishing line. All you need is a boat and beer. The fish are mostly contaminated anyway, but even then, we might want to leave some for the millions of generations to follow us---unless they can make a sport out of guppy fishing.

If Obama were to raise the dead, the right would still attack him. If he lowered the taxes to zero the right would still attack him. The right wants bipartisanship---where was that sentiment when they had power?

Not at all. Even in the open ocean. I was talking about the streams of America where there is little if any commercial fisheries relying on the catch. Fishing the streams can and does reduce the number of fish for future generations. Even salmon, which are fished by commercial fisheries have seen the impact between commercial fishing, and dams placed on their streams. I hope Obama bans the fishing of streams just to piss off the people who already hate him, and will plotz in their pants when he is reelected in 2012.

Do I really have to explain this again to you? You should take notes.

Thank you.

It was a Photobucket linking experiment on a little posted upon backpage thread that got moved to the front page.

I asked Rcade to delete it, so he did. But he kept it visible in the cache, thereby ensuring the opposite outcome of what I intended by requesting it's deletion.

Pretty harsh judgment. Got anything to back it up?

Yeah.

An unaccomplished little hybrid fuck with a compelling admissions essay and the kind of background that a university selection committe is obligated to admit.

But that's becoming more and more evident every day.

Or a simple no.

I guess you don't know that one.

I'll send you an email and you can just email me your address.

It's 1234 Elm St.

You send me your phone number on your Jak_Me_Nao email address and we'll set it up.

This is your big chance, Chickenshit.

Don't fuck it up.

"Who's whining? Not me. Posting retorts with facts. Duh."

As usual not one post has anything to do with the thread. Like I said before, AU sees Obama and the trigger goes off, his first, last and only repsonses have to do with Bush. Obama calls for rain, AU will come back with well Bush called for showers. Looks like Bush deranged system may be fading, but AU is keeping the numbers up. Look back on the thread, and how many retorts have to do with the subject? ZERO!!!!!

I'm a partisan asshole who thinks way too highly of himself and my opinions and don't actually have anything useful to add, let alone a resume or accomplishments to rival the man's I'm criticizing."

I'm certainly a partisan asshole and I do think highly of myself, but I can assure you my resume is far more impressive than little Barry's.

At least, before the media elected him President.

And that's kinda sad, when you think about it.

JACKASS

Remember what happened to Joe Pesci in Goodfellas when he showed up to become a 'made' Mafia member?

Just sayin'... LOL

I'm certainly a partisan asshole and I do think highly of myself, but I can assure you my resume is far more impressive than little Barry's.

Damn, for a second I thought you were actually going to be honest.

Too bad.

At least, before the media elected him President.

And that's kinda sad, when you think about it.

Media elected him president? Yeah...no. Republican stupidity and ineptitude elected him president.

CRISPEE

You're another WISGOD, trolling a thread with 130+ posts for one you can be snarky about.

Sorry, comparisons to Bush and the situation a year ago are appropriate when someone rails on Obama for 'not caring about the economy'. Should I go through your posting history for Clinton and Carter references when Bush was President? Bet you wouldn't want me to for obvious reasons ....

...than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

You feel free to critique my assessment of the little punk's rise to fame.

CRISPEE

I remember a lot of 'deflections' you made when railing on Clinton (after he'd been out of office for 6+ years) for not doing X, Y, and Z about Bin Laden, etc. among many other things.

Now that an R isn't in the WH your rules have changed.

Obama for 'not caring about the economy'.

I don't think anybody said he doesn't care about the economy.

Quite the contrary.

He's destroying the existing economy so that he can remake it into something more in alignment with his sophmoric, socialist ideology.

#133...

Simply point out one post which is on subject AU. Just one. Let me help you out, there is none. The closest you came was some stupid video in post #8. The only reason it is close, is because it actually had the word "fish" in the title. Now do you have one iota of evidence one way or another that corresponds with either the headline or subject?

You feel free to critique my assessment of the little punk's rise to fame.

I'm not going to rehash something that's been gone over many times on the DR alone. Obama's accomplishments are well known and well discussed.

Besides, it won't matter to you what he's done or accomplished in his life. You'll find some petty reason to disregard it or snark at it and continue to think of yourself as superior, all the while refusing the actually say what you've done that is in fact superior.

...than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

You seem to be forgetting that I'm not the one making asinine claims.

This isn't saying Obama doesn't care about the economy?:

That's because Obama is not interested in making the American economy better.

Posted by Jak_Se_Mao at 2010-03-10 01:30 AM

And I pointed out month to month the unemployment figures have gone from 700,000 month after month to 20-30,000 month after month in comparison.

That's called a 'Retort' CRISPEE. See how it works?

He's destroying the existing economy so that he can remake it into something more in alignment with his sophmoric, socialist ideology.

Hmmmmm paranoid delusions.

Have you talked to LR about that?

Your turn.

Why don't you pay more attention to saying something yourself, CRISPEE, than being so obsessed with what I do or don't say?

#139...

So the answer is no. You have nothing on the subject. In other words, you are simply trolling for anything negative about Obama, so you can invoke Bush or argue with whoever wrote the hit piece.

You'll find some petty reason to disregard it or snark at it

Like the fact that a "record of his accomplishments" doesn't exist?

/snark

"Why don't you pay more attention to saying something yourself, CRISPEE, than being so obsessed with what I do or don't say?"

Why would I be obsessed with anyone who is as empty as the guy in the oval office? You are two peas in a pod.

CRISPEE

You've made ONE comment 'on topic' on this thread, CRISPEE. ONE. You've made far more about what I'M saying.

Several people aren't 'on topic'. So what? Are you the 'topic police'?

You spent a lot of cyberspace blaming Clinton when Bush was President. 6 years after Clinton had been President. Enough faux outrage, eh?

And I pointed out month to month the unemployment figures have gone from 700,000 month after month to 20-30,000 month after month in comparison.

No.

They went from 700,000 in a few months to a year-long hemorraging of jobs because a Marxist ideologue and his legislative enablers have forced employers to lay low until this fucking nightmare is over with.

This guy is evil.

#147...

Of course AU, you remember what I said about Clinton a year and a half before you even joined. You invoke Bush more times in one day, than I have mentioned Clinton in four years.

In fact, CRISPEE

My first comment on this thread was to post a humorous video of Bush saying 'I believe human beings and fish can coexist peacefully'. See the title of the thread? "Obama Task Force to End Sport Fishing'?

Can you see the connection?

Like I said, I'll be happy to dredge up your Clinton comments throughout the last year and a half of Bush's Presidency. They were MANY. Yet, now the rules have changed since there's a D in the WH. At least you're consistent about trolling my posts and commenting on them while complaining about people not staying 'on topic'.

I joined in the summer of 2007. Bush was President in 2007 and 2008.

#152...

If you are dumb enough to waste the time to deflect your obsession about Bush, knock yourself out. But I doubt any would be in line with as you say, "Anytime some rightwinger insults Obama I will bring up Bush..."

CRISPEE, lighten up. I don't recall haranguing you for your multitude of Clinton deflections. It's a blog where we post what we want to within reason. You do. I do. It's a free country last time I checked. Let It Be, Let It Be.

"Anytime some rightwinger insults Obama I will bring up Bush..." - CRISPEE

That's your interpretation of what I said. Not what I said. I'd have done it if McCain had been elected. It's factual Bush left a mess for the next guy to clean up. Just because you don't want to be reminded of that now that a Dem is in the WH doesn't change a thing.

Had McCain been elected and inherited these problems no doubt it'd still be Clinton's fault, as everything was until Bush left office. Blaming Clinton for nearly everything 6+ years into Bush's Presidency was a daily occurrence here in 2007 and 2008.

Everyone on the right found Jesus and suddenly don't want to talk about the past - especially when it's directly related to the current deficits people whine about. The massive debt that resulted in massive debt service payments or Medicare Part D and 2 tax cuts that, all tolled, comprise MOST of the annual deficits now righties whine about incessantly - as though Obama created them out of thin air? Hogwash.

Hell, I have trolls who bring up my dead sister's tits when I post on topic. One more obsessed troll isn't a big deal to me.

Greetings AU- checking into the cyberasylum, I see you are the DR All-knowing Behavoural Counselor tonite as usual...very mature of you. What a life.

The hypocritical one in that affair was Gingrich, who was screwing his assistant and left his wife while she was in the hospital with cancer - all while babbling about 'morals' on a daily basis concurrent with his trying to get Clinton booted from office for less egregious 'immoral' acts.

OK, let's fish!

"I got a new fly rod and reel for my wife
...best trade I ever made." - Thomas Horan

Four married guys go fishing. After an hour, the following conversation took place:

First guy: "You have no idea what I had to do to be able to come out fishing this weekend. I had to promise my wife that I will paint every room in the house next weekend.

Second guy: "That's nothing, I had to promise my wife that I'll build her a new deck for the pool.

Third guy: "Man, you both have it easy! I had to promise my wife that I'll remodel the kitchen for her."

They continue to fish when they realized the fourth guy has not said a word. So they asked him. "You haven't said anything about what you had to do to be able to come fishing this weekend. What's the deal?"

Fourth guy: "I just set my alarm for 5:30 AM. When it went off, I shut off the alarm, gave the wife a nudge and said, "Fishing or Sex" and she said, "Wear a sweater."

A man was stopped by a game-warden in Northern Algonquin Park recently with two buckets of fish leaving a lake well known for its fishing

The game warden asked the man, "Do you have a license to catch those fish?"

The man replied to the game warden, "No, sir. These are my pet fish."

"Pet fish?!" the warden replied.

"Yes, sir. Every night I take these here fish down to the lake and let them swim around for a while. I whistle and they jump back into their buckets, and I take em home."

"That's a bunch of hooey! Fish can't do that!"

The man looked at the game warden for a moment, and then said, "Here, I'll show you. It really works."

"O.K. I've GOT to see this!" The game warden was curious.

The man poured the fish in to the river and stood and waited. After several minutes, the game warden turned to the man and said, "Well?"

"Well, what?" the man responded.

"When are you going to call them back?" the game warden prompted.

"Call who back?" the man asked.

"The FISH"

"What fish?" the man asked.

Two blondes rented a fishing boat, and were having a great day catching fish.

The first blonde said "This is such a great spot, we need to mark it so we can come back."

The second blonde proceeded to put a mark on the side of the boat.

The first blonde asked "What are you doing?"

The second blonde replied "Marking the spot."

"Don't be stupid" the first blonde said. "What if we don't get the same boat next time?"

The manager of a small business and his secretary decided to go over to her place for some "gymnastics". Afterwards, they both fall asleep

When the manager wakes up and looks at his watch, he discovers that it is after 8 o'clock in the evening.

He jumps up in a panic wondering what he's going to say to his wife. He tells the secretary to quickly take his shoes out into the yard and rub them around in the grass. Then he finishes dressing and goes home.

When the man opens the door to the house, his wife is standing in the doorway fuming and asks him where the hell he's been until 8:30 in the evening?

The man calmly replies that he and his secretary are having an affair and that they had fallen asleep after going to her place this afternoon.

His wife looked at him very carefully and when she saw the state of his shoes, she exclaimed: "You liar, you've been FISHING!"

Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.

Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

A taxidermist was driving through Arkansas when he though he would stop at a local bar and have a beer. The locals didn't like outsiders in their bar and when he entered he was greeted with dirty stares and low mumbles.

He went to the bartender and ask for a beer. The bartender looked the man over and than went to get his beer. When the bartender returned with his beer he asked the man "what do you do?"

The man replied "I'm a taxidermist."

The bartender replied "Taxidermist? what is that."

The man replied "Well,I mount animals, birds, and fish."

With that said the bartender turned to the other men in the bar and said "It's OK boys, he's one of us".

A small town Doctor was famous in the area for always catching large fish.

One day while he was on one of his frequent fishing trips he got a call that a woman at a neighboring farm was giving birth. He rushed to her aid and delivered a healthy baby boy.

The farmer had nothing to weigh the baby with so the Doctor used his fishing scales.

The baby weighed 22 lbs 10 oz..

Two redneck guys go on a fishing trip.

They rent all the equipment: the reels, the rods, the wading suits, the rowboat, the car, and even a cabin in the woods.

They spend a fortune.

The first day they go fishing, but they don't catch anything.

The same thing happens on the second day, and on the third day.

It goes on like this until finally, on the last day of their vacation, one of the men catches a fish.

As they're driving home they're really depressed. One guy turns to the other and says, "Do you realize that this one lousy fish we caught cost us fifteen hundred dollars?"

The other guy says, "Wow! It's a good thing we didn't catch any more!"

Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Fishing. Not so much a sport as it is a really good way to hide a drinking problem.

Some classics up there, AU.

A woman is in bed with her lover who also happens to be her husband's best friend. They make love for hours, and afterwards, while they're just laying there, the phone rings.

Since it is the woman's house, she picks up the receiver. Her lover looks over at her and listens, only hearing her side of the conversation...

(She is speaking in a cheery voice)

"Hello? Oh, hi. I'm so glad that you called. Really? That's wonderful. I am so happy for you. That sounds terrific. Great! Thanks. Okay. Bye bye." She hangs up the telephone and her lover asks, "Who was that?"

"Oh" she replies, "that was my husband telling me all about the wonderful time he's having on his fishing trip with you."

The priest was a fisherman, but he hadn't fished in months. One perfect Sunday morning he couldn't resist. He called up the Bishop and claimed he had laryngitis. The priest then headed out to his favorite fishing spot. The hook hadn't been in the water five minutes before he got a strike, and landed the biggest fish he had ever caught--although he had seen bigger ones.

A half hour later he caught the biggest fish he had ever seen. Another forty-five minutes later he landed a fish that broke the world record. All this time Saint Peter and God had been watching the priest from heaven. Saint Peter turned to God and said, "How can you reward this priest? He lied. He let down his congregation." God smiled at Saint Peter and replied, "I am punishing him." Saint Peter was confused, so God continued, "Well after he finishes, who can he tell his fish story to?"

A man went fishing one day. He looked over the side of his boat and saw a snake with a frog in its mouth. feeling sorry for the frog, he reached down, gently took the frog from the snake, and set the frog free.

But then he felt sorry for the snake. He looked around the boat, but he had no food. All he had was a bottle of bourbon. So he opened the bottle and gave the snake a few shots. The snake went off happy, the frog was happy, and the man was happy to have performed such good deeds.

He thought everything was great until about ten minutes passed and he heard something knock against the side of the boat. With stunned disbelief, the fisherman looked down and saw the snake was back with two frogs!

That pure unadulterated bullshit caused over a thousand commercial and sport fishermen from my county to go to DC a few weeks ago. Most of these guys are Democrats. There talking war. These aren't the same people who fish one weekend and golf the next, these people live to fish and make their living that way. We already have the National Park Service limiting access to the beaches because of turtles and birds. Now the Audubon Society wants them to close Cape Hatteras National Seashore year round, and it appears the NPS and their bought and paid for judge is listening. Their talking of outlawing gill nets and now this. If the Federal Government keeps this up someone will get hurt.

On the 2nd line of this page you can download a PDF file of the interim plan released in December. I can't comment on it until I know what it says.

Your right, there are no specifics. They are just no longer taking public input. Meaning the gov will make their own decisions with no input from anyone, except every left wing environmental group that they are connected to. This didn't start under Obama either. It goes back to Bush and Clinton. Maybe if you guys had a clue what you're talking about you'd feel different. No you guy's just worry about the people who are poor and unemployed because their lazy, stupid and worthless. Don't be so certain, Dave. Environmental groups have succeeded in denying beach access to everyone in prime fishing and recreational areas on Hatteras Island, North Carolina (Outer Banks) for extended periods; claim it is necessary to protect sea turtle nesting and certain species of birds. They are aiming for closing the beaches year round; using the courts. It's hurting the local economy and residents and ticking off tourists and vacationers. Legislation has been introduced in the House and Senate to overturn the court ordered restrictions and have the Park Service formulate a more balanced permanent program.

Not year round. Own a beach house on the island.

I just read the 31 pages released in December describing what the goals of this plan are.

Since the ESPN writer has no idea what the plan is or will be he seems overly upset with how it may affect recreational fishermen in coastal waters (ocean) and The Great Lakes without having seen a single detail since the plan hasn't been released. From what I've read, insofar as fishing is concerned (it includes much more than fishing - shipping lanes, oil platforms, etc) my impression is commercial fishing (or overfishing) will be the main area addressed on the topic of fishing.

Not a 'once size fits all' plan. I'd highly doubt anyone will be barred from throwing a hook in the water from the beach.

Over the past few months here in Michigan there has been a huge controversy regarding the asian carp invading the Great Lakes through a canal that runs from the Mississipppi River through Chicago and into Lake Michigan. Despiste pressure from Great Lake state governmor, the administration doesnt want to shut the canal which is a shipping lane. At first I thought that since Obama is from Illinois he is naturally biased in favor of his home state. But now I understand the real reason. He doesn't care if the asian carp destroyes fishing in the great Lakes because he doesn't want fishing in the Great Lakes to happen at all.

as to this subject...only ingorant people dont understand how important the fisherman is to the fish population and all of this shit..its the fisherman who PAYS for the bulk of the things done to protect them and keep th sport alive...but do good liberal environmental fucks dont want to know any of that because it doesnt fit thier bullshit agenda.
just like the deer population..they regulate over population as well as making sure that breeding fish are left to spawn for future generattions of fishermen....

but what does a lying sack of shit community organizer from chicago know or even give a fuck about any of that.

Bl2 by calling him a community organizer do you feel any better about your own failure of a life? If we examine your career all we see is one disappointment after another.

"Man, so many people dismissing and walking away from an article that, if true, would do more to kill jobs than it would to create jobs."

California proves that everyday when they allow organizations to dictate policy. Our brilliant politicians actually believed these outsiders who claim commercial and sportfishing are equally hurting the fish population. Think about that for a second, commercial fishing does everything to kill the population, sportsfishing does everything it can to save it.

"It's a deflection and nothing more.

Bush is out of office now."

I would agree except in this case, Obama is being skewered by someone who apparently believes Bush did a better job. So pointing out that the criticism is coming from someone who is blind to the fact that Bush was a big disaster is fair.

And I say that as someone thinks Obama sucks.

Food Security Threat: Ban Fishing, Individual Food Production

"It will affect anyone who produces food even if they do not sell but only consume it. It will literally put all independent farmers and food producers out of business due to the huge amounts of money it will take to conform to factory farming methods. If people choose to farm without industry standards such as chemical pesticides and fertilizers they will be subject to a variety of harassment from this completely new agency that has never before existed. That's right, a whole new government agency is being created just to police food, for our own protection of course."

"Man, so many people dismissing and walking away from an article that, if true, would do more to kill jobs than it would to create jobs."

It seems most people think those two words, "if true" are important. If and when some of these things are actually proposed let us know, I'll be just as angry as any one else, but let it be more than just idle suppositions and hypotheticals before believing Obama wants to take away your fishing pole.

#208...

It happened in California...

So a left wing president imposes an oversight board, like a Czar, by the stroke of a pen. And the left says not to worry! HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even the left must admit he has an agenda shaped by his narrow minded backers.

How come it's stuffed with left wing groups like peta, wwf, and Pew influenced advisors? And no fishing interests? Pew controls (AKA OWNS) all the non profits, from sierra to earth first and ALL the rest. Pew is anti-fishing. There IS reason to be concerned.

Their modus operundi will be catch shares, and MPA's. The left is having a wet dream

If it wasn't so serious it would be funny. The ICCAT can not even reign in their own, and laughs at the US. The left's answer, create no fishing forever zones.

The ICCAT knew that 15,000 metric tonnes of Blue Fin tuna was the upper end of the species sustainable catch limit for a year. What did they do, allow 18,000 tonnes. AND that amount is not even enforced.

US fisherman face and accept closed seasons, catch limits, and size limits. It's what we do based on facts. This committee wants to do and end run around all science, and create MPA's....marine protection areas...no fishing, no trespass FOREVER. They are having wet dreams at their utopian dream come true. How to FUCK over sportsmen...it's their idea of water based national parks...with NO TRESPASSING.

Rcade evn mocked the idea when I posted this info on the threat to hunting link a couple weeks ago.

Crispee that's exactly correct. Don't expect sympathy from people with no idea of what's happening. They have been hoodwinked.....

Remember the "Oceans will be dead by 2048" headlines a couple yrs ago. It was all BS written by a person on Pew's payroll FACT

Officials from at least eight fishing industry organizations say they have "serious questions and concerns" regarding a framework submitted by the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force to plan and manage the uses of the nation's oceans, coastal areas and Great Lakes.

Some critics say the framework "threatens public access" to the nation's waters by using coastal and marine spatial planning (CMSP) as a euphemism for zoning -- a move they claim could restrict recreational fishing nationwide

Such a process should include outreach to the sport-fishing community to explain both the scientific basis for the action and the expected conservation benefits to future fishing generations if it is to gain the community's active support.

So here he said he wants the input of fisherman, yet NONE are on his panels. NOT A ONE. And they are refusing any input. Sound like one of his 'confrences' like on jobs or HC, where he pretends to listen and act rationally, then says " THE TIME FOR DEBATE IS OVER"

Why is that could he be lying, and talking double talk? Yup, he's a liar, and he's dangerous.

The MLPA Initiative: A Corrupt Enron-Style Scam.

The MLPA seeks to take control of large areas of the coast, supposedly to regulate fishing and food gathering, in a state where fishing is already so tightly regulated that for most of the year a local coastal resident cannot go out on the ocean to catch a fish. These new closed areas will allow the take of fish and marine life for so-called research purposes, but what constitutes research is not clearly defined. The privileged few will be allowed to take fish to supply large commercial aquariums, owned by the very people who sponsored and funded the initiative. A gross conflict of interest exists that so far has not been addressed.

The MLPAI is led by a privately funded public relations and policy experts, masquerading as a true public agency. The staff are funded by multi-billion dollar private foundations that conceal the amount, sources and distribution of their funds. Money is being channeled through the director and managers of this program to individuals and local government entities, without public scrutiny or accountability. Bribery and coercion have become commonplace.

One more opinion

Marine biologist Larry Crowder: "It's not an environmentalist manifesto." The Christian Science Monitor reported on March 9 that marine biologist Larry Crowder, of Duke University, stated of the task force, "It's not an environmentalist manifesto. It's multiple-use planning for the environment, and making sure various uses ... are sustainable." CSM further reported that "Obama has said he will not override protections put in place by Presidents Clinton and Bush that established recreational fishermen as a special class" and that "nonpartisan experts say the task force has already made strides in better recognizing various stakeholder groups, including recreational fishermen, and that it doesn't intend to undermine the ability of states to manage their natural resources, as many fishermen fear."

A bit stronger

Fishing columnist Jeffrey Weeks: "ESPN should be ashamed." Charlotte Fishing Examiner columnist Jeffrey Weeks wrote on March 9: "In what may be the worst example of outdoor sports reporting in the history of America, ESPN has claimed that President Barack Obama is on the verge of banning recreational fishing." Weeks added, "Am I going to agree with everything that this task force does? Probably not. Issues like access to fishery grounds and over-regulation of species without sound scientific data are legitimate concerns. However, in no way shape or form is the task force President Obama created about to ban recreational fishing. That is silly. ESPN should be ashamed."

"They're gonna take away our poles!!"

Exactly right, MMIKE.

The ESPN article was entirely supposition. If anything, changes in fishing will be to huge commercial fishing operations who've fished some waters to death. It's not about the 'little guy'.

When they cut off 10% of the best fishing in the ocean off California, it wasn't just to commercial fishing, it was everyone, recreational and sport fishing as well.

AU...
Amazing the power of the written word regardless if it's true, false or innuendo.

you guys are using ESPN as a source regarding government control? That's a new low even for the retort!

"After six years of negotiations, meetings with stakeholders, draft plans, and more negotiations, biologist, fishermen, environmentalists and the California Fish and Game Commission sat down for one last meeting. And after a marathon twelve hours of public testimony and discussion, Fish and Game commissioners like Richard Rogers celebrated the unanimous vote that created over 200 miles of marine protected areas."

My left honorable gentleman, I read your link above, I am not sure how you come to that conclusion.

CMSP provides an effective process to better manage a range of social, economic, and cultural uses, including:
Aquaculture (fish, shellfish, and seaweed farming)
Commerce and Transportation (e.g. cargo and cruise ships, tankers, and ferries)
Commercial Fishing
Environmental/Conservation (e.g., marine sanctuaries, reserves, national parks, and wildlife refuges)
Maritime Heritage and Archeology
Mining (e.g., sand and gravel)
Oil and Gas Exploration and Development
Ports and Harbors
Recreational Fishing
Renewable Energy (e.g., wind, wave, tidal, current, and thermal)
Other Recreation (e.g., boating, beach access, swimming, nature and whale watching, and diving)
Scientific Research and Exploration
Security, Emergency Response, and Military Readiness Activities
Tourism
Traditional Hunting, Fishing, and Gathering

I am willing to bet recreational fishing will be outlawed in certain areas for certain fish. I propose if executed that, in Naples, FL, Snook fishing will be outlawed.

"March 9 that marine biologist Larry Crowder, of Duke University, stated of the task force, "It's not an environmentalist manifesto. It's multiple-use planning for the environment, and making sure various uses ... are sustainable."

"Sustianable" is such a general term that you can define it any way you like. The there is "multiple use planning for the "environment"! are you kidding me? Those terms are so vague that you could make any argument regarding fishing you want. 10 years from now it could be....?

I wish I had a link to one of the meetings I attended. From what I remember, the State said Commercial and Sports fishing equally were depleting the areas they wanted to conserve.

"Sustainable natural resources that's what it is all about"

that is some scary language! Are you ready to "cut back" as you say? how many bottles of water you drink? What about the air you breath? Do you use too much? Are you ready to "conserve"? All of that sounds great for the "greater good"!

Au is actually breathing less tonight to help "conserve" air for the future generations! He will dehydrate himself to preserve water for the "children". Tell them Au of all the ways you are limiting yourself to provide for the "greater good"? This type of "thought" merely shows the extent of the man child and his inability to understand "Freedom"! On the extreme end people who harvest trees could wipe the Earth of trees but, then they would have nothing to do? Loggers, not only harvest trees but, they plant them for future generations to harvest. Therefore, they help continue the cycle of life as my 11 year old daughter calls it! She is eleven years old and she understands "naturally" that life repeats itself over and over and over!

Don't question.

Just follow Him to to Glory and Social Justice.

Good thing there are no dem sport fishermen or they would lose even more votes.

It's no exaggeration to say that small commercial fishermen have had to go further and further out to find their catches.

These huge commercial fishing entities - many foreign - with mile long nets are a tad over the top.

And what is the name of your horse??

The gov't is real good with taking away lands and now this.

If you check out where the resources are for oil and gas in the country and overlay that with gov't land--they are pretty much the same.

How did that happen??

They already killed the San Joaquin Valley here in CA with the delta smelt.

So they just go on and take more freedoms and liberty from the people.

Firestorms get started in a variety of ways, especially on politicized issues.

ESPNOutdoors.com inadvertently contributed to a flare-up Tuesday when we posted the latest article in a series of stories on President Barack Obama's newly created Ocean Policy Task Force, a column written by Robert Montgomery, a conservation writer for BASS since 1985. Regrettably, we made several errors in the editing and presentation of this installment. Though our series has included numerous news stories on the topic, this was not one of them -- it was an opinion piece, and should have been clearly labeled as commentary.

And while our series overall has examined several sides of the topic, this particular column was not properly balanced and failed to represent contrary points of view. We have reached out to people on every side of the issue and reported their points of view -- if they chose to respond -- throughout the series, but failed to do so in this specific column.

This series started in October and has included several updates on how the creation of the task force and its actions could impact recreational anglers. ESPNOutdoors.com should have made it clear to all readers that this was part of a larger series, and -- even though this was Montgomery's opinion, and those of the sources quoted in the column -- we should have taken more care to fairly represent opposing arguments.

We do feel it is our duty to cover issues surrounding outdoor sports to the best of our abilities, and given the nature of this task force and the potential impact on all fisherman, this was an appropriate topic to address for our audience. We take seriously the tenets of journalism that require we take an unbiased approach, and when we make mistakes in the presentation of a story or a column, it is our responsibility to admit them.

Any confusion on that part rests entirely on my shoulders as the executive editor of this site.

We have appended the original column to note that it was in fact a commentary, and we will institute more rigorous editing safeguards in order to prevent such issues in the future.

So, what's next? Obama's gonna invite terrorists to the White House? No doubt there will be more stupid 'conservative' memes.

Tuesday, it was pants pissing about 7 Justice Dept. attorneys Liz Cheney and Bill Kristol don't think belong there because they represented alleged 'terrorist subjects'. As it turns out so have several Republicans - including Michael Chertoff. You know, former Secretary of Homeland Security.

Enough of the ridiculous 'conservative' memes. They're all ridiculous, far fetched, and utter bullshit.

So you decided to pass over my posts AU?

"Some critics say" = right wing paranoid freaks who hate Obama.

This is the biggest bunch of crap ever, no one is planning to end sport fishing.

No they are planning to limit sportfishing, with Marine Protection Areas, just like off of Catalina Island.

The RFA...Hijacking Fisheries Management
Fish and Fishermen are not the only variables in the equation of fisheries management. Since the implementation of the Sustainable Fisheries Act in 1996 the management of U.S. fisheries, while far from perfect, has become a model for the rest of the world. Yet one organization in America continues to use scare tactics to drive its agenda domestically while the most egregious problems can easily be found abroad. Their agenda may sound laudable, but the reality is that their goal is to stop fishing. Who has hijacked the management of our nation's fisheries? You might be surprised!

How Pew Charitable Trusts has co-opted the management process using paid-for science and a well-oiled media machine.

www.joinrfa.org

And thanks AU for proving my points, NONE of which you can touch with a 10' pole!

When all you can do is call people names, and completely ignore nObama's OWN WORDS, you show your lack of reasoning/concern.

"And thanks AU for proving my points, NONE of which you can touch with a 10' pole!"

All one has to do is look at the list of organizations you listed to understand why there should be concern. The same exact thing happened here in California with the MLPA. They closed the debate after coming to an agreement and still went ahead and closed 10% of best fishing grounds in the pacific. The State listened to people who have never fished in their life and convinced politicians commercial and sport fishing equally reduced the fish population. It is no wonder people like AU and danni downplay this as rightwing paranoia. They are exactly the make up of these same organizations that create policy on issues they have no clue or experience in.

"Pew is a major grant provider to universities and professors in the marine sciences and the major provider of funds to environmental groups that push the party line. Those groups include The National Environmental Trust, Oceana, Earthjustice Legal Defense, the New England Aquarium, the Public Interest Research Group, National Audubon Society, National Resources Defense Council, Sierra Club, Conservation Law Foundation, Marine Conservation Biology Institute, Marine Fish Conservation Network, Wildlife Conservation Society, Friends of the Earth and the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership. Combined, these groups have received over $200 million of Pew money and most have arbitrary no-fishing zones!openly endorsed the implementation of arbitrary no-fishing zones!"

That's right CO, most of those orgs get 5 million a yr from PEW, each and every year. They do the same with many colleges, and they hire prof's to write papers slanted to their thinking. PEW is their LARGEST DONOR AND OWNS THEM ALL! Funny no one knows/talks about it!

The author behind the sensational headlines two yrs ago "Oceans will be dead by 2048" was on the PEW payroll. The story was bought and paid for by PEW. But no one reading the news, which blasted front page/prime time, heard on mention of PEW. They do more 501C work too, then anyone knows that's how they work.

A former PEW employee even bragged that PEW 501C "research" work was mentioned by the Supreme Court in one of their decisions!

There is one mistake in your post. That's annually, not in total!!!!

PEW gives 220 million A YEAR. Your figure is for one year. They have done this annually since the mid 1990's.

DAVETHEWAVE

A. Where did I call you a name? By referring to 'pants pissing conservatives'? Only if that rung a bell could it be taken personally directed at you.

B. I read the interim report and did some digging. I saw nothing in there about recreational use that would indicate any plans to 'End Sports Fishing' as the title of this thread says. It seems its primary goal insofar as fishing is concerned is over large, corporate overfishing.

C. The ESPN letter writer doesn't have any idea what the final water use plan will look like. His letter is hyperbole and supposition - which seems to be pandemic in conservative circles.

Why people get so riled up over a non-issue for sports fishermen is a mystery. This effort at examining coastal water uses didn't start last year, BTW.

"Why people get so riled up over a non-issue for sports fishermen is a mystery. This effort at examining coastal water uses didn't start last year, BTW."

Because ignorant fools like you as an example, ignored what I have posted twice what happened in California, under the exact same pretext. You aren't stupid enough to believe commercial fishing and sport fishing equally deplete the oceans fish count, do you?

Ya, sure. Mile long fishing nets and single dudes on fishing charters trying to catch a single tuna are the same thing.

#254...

That was the reasoning behind closing 10% of california's ocean fishing. Now do you get it??????

CRISPEE

Your incessant trolling lately doesn't leave me with any desire to read your posts.

One of us read the Interim Report released in December and looked deeper into this and one of us apparently hasn't.

Unless and until this plan is finalized no one - you or me - knows what it contains insofar as sports fishing goes. It's a fool's errand to say definitively what the final product will say.

As far as California's rules are concerned the whole point is to formulate a national plan over coastal water use and place it under federal control, so California's rules right now will go bye bye.

#256...
That would be a big fat "NO" you don't get it!!

Are you going to try to tell me you can't go out in a boat from Newport Beach and fish?

This is all about overfishing by huge commercial fishing entities.

CRISPEE

Have you downloaded the PDF of the Interim Report released in December? If not, do it. This is about far more than commercial fishing.

Anyway, it's all guess work at this point to have such inflamed opinions - which was what the ESPN writer was expressing, not facts. Maybe this thread should go up once an actual final plan is released?

Too much speculation an hyperbole.

I plan on going fishing when I go to Florida. Bet you could hop on a charter fishing boat in Newport Beach tomorrow morning and go fishing.
