Liberals in the House will get a chance this week to address one of their biggest concerns: the war in Afghanistan. An antiwar resolution written by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (Ohio) with 16 co-sponsors calls for the United States to remove all of its troops from Afghanistan in 30 days -- or by the end of the year if doing so in a month would be too dangerous.

LOL. Another chance for the President to give his "base" (*snickers) the finger.

President Obama's handling of Afghanistan is something that I couldn't be happier about. As much as he has done that I don't agree with, he is competent in terms of OEF by listening to the officers and realizing that politicians shouldn't micromanage military operations, which I was worried he would try.

And Hag, he can hedge his bad military decisions (as seen by his base) by talking about repealing DADT, it will placate enough to still have a "base" by 2012.

Thgis'll help with the base:
Odierno said Iraqi security forces performed "very well" during the elections and said the United States remains on track to cut the number of troops in Iraq to 50,000 by this summer and complete the withdrawal of all combat troops by the end of next year.

Beats the heck out of 100 years war McLost.

NG I could see us being in Iraq for 100 in a role that we are in at the ROK, not actively patrolling towns but having a small presence there.

Another Kucucinich resolution...

"Beats the heck out of 100 years war McLost."

The idiot liar chimes in again.

McCain never mentioned 100 years of war, but since you're a congenital liar, you knew that.

Willow:

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Republican presidential front-runner Sen. John McCain on Thursday defended his statement that U.S. troops could spend "maybe 100" years in Iraq -- saying he was referring to a military presence similar to what the nation already has in places like Japan, Germany and South Korea.

www.cnn.com

I agree with you, that isn't how McCain meant it. Poorly worded statements stay with you forever in politics, though.

"The idiot liar chimes in again."

Almost as laughable as giving Obama all the credit for the withdrawal timeframe.

another meaningless resolution so that the democrats can pretend to be less fascist than the republicans.

posturing.

"I agree with you, that isn't how McCain meant it. Poorly worded statements stay with you forever in politics, though."

How does one explain Harry Reid still being the Majority leader, much less still a US Senator after saying the war is lost? Hell Obama wrote legislation demanding US troops no longer train or patrol with Iraqi soldiers.

Well McCain is still in the Senate and he likely will be until he steps down or dies. In a campaign, though, statements like that are killers.

Remember John Kerry's numerous misstatements?

Now there is the type of candidate I wish the Dems would run every 4 years. Snobby, elitist, entitled, and not afraid to say dumb things.

Another Kucucinich resolution...

He's got to do more than talk about it. Still, all he really has to do is make himself seem marginally better than whatever the GOP has to offer, which seems like a ridiculously low bar, but that's where we are today. Seems to me like the choice is between driving into a brick wall at 90mph and driving into that wall at 55mph. At least at 55, nobody was breaking any laws up to the moment of impact.

Pull out of everywhere and reduce military spending drastically.

i would say end the empire, but i'm not stupid enough to believe that this is anything more than meaningless political posturing by the democrats to get morons like many here to believe that they are any different than the republcians.

nazification act = extended
office of fatherland security = still here
war on iraq = still here
pakistan = bring it on!
war on drugs = still here
government protections for coporate patents/copywrites = yup
etc
etc
etc
etc

spelling differences aren't real ones.

"IN 30 DAYS!!! Or, the end of the year. Whatever you think . . . ."

Yeah. Those are some big brass ones Kucinich has in his pants, eh?

Dennis Kucinich rawks.

Also see: Elizabeth Kucinich.

Dennis Kucinich fer POTUS!

Elizabeth Kucinich for Nekkid!

Be Well.

17 american soldiers have died in Afghanistan this month

118 american soldiers have died in Afghanistan since the beginning of the year

Approx. 630 american solders have died in Afghanistan since obama became potus

only suckers for misinformation are those who believe that positive things are happening in afghanistan

If the President did as Kucinich is proposing, he'd be doing the right thing, but he'd lose 2012. What do you think is the more pressing issue for him? And what does that say about us as a people?

you ask the average clueless moron that supports this silly farce why we are over there and they'll say something like, "we are there to make sure that afghanistan can no longer be used as a place to launch terrorist strikes against america" or "we are there to fight against those who gave the 9-11 terrorists safe harbor"

well, when the "terrorists" supposedly flew planes into buildings, weren't they also attacking those who provided safe harbor for those elements that were in their countries to bregin with? you betcha. as an american i have a big fucking "O" target on my shirt because i am a citizen of a country that has oppressed others for its own gain. i accept that when i turned 18 last year, i became a legitimate target-- and by accepting i am a legitimate target, i hope it will spur me to action-- not to support a bunch of beaurocratic processes that limit freedoms in americ and further solidify power in the hands of a few, but to fight against the elements in this country that run these ridiculous stunts-- and that is what they are, stunts-- iraq, afghanistan were nothing more than ideological stunts.

though, thinking realistically, after i graduate from college i'll probably just inherit a bunch of my old man's dough, move to switzerland, and become a playboy.

when you can't beat 'em, convert to unapologetic hedonism.

What do you think is the more pressing issue for him? And what does that say about us as a people?

that is why i support a single 6 year term for each president. representatives can only be re-elected twice consecutively and senators get 1 single 6 year term. i call it my 6-6-6 plan, lol.

every governor, senator, and president, if they want to run for a second term, must do so non-consecutively.

i repsect kucinich cuz he has a hot wife. any one hitting THAT a few times a week must have something going on.

Pull out of everywhere and reduce military spending drastically.

Great idea. You'd have Iranians running your dojo and kicking your ass before years end.

"i call it my 6-6-6 plan, lol."

Too bad that we have to depend on the ones who that would affect to make it happen.

Nerfmeister, you could make a goal of going into politics since you are a political junkie already. You might even be able to have your own mega hottie since power is an aphrodisiac. Nerf for prez in '28!!!

ah the good war is no more

Beats the heck out of 100 years war McLost.

No one gives a shit what you have to say because you're in the minority and a partisan hack on top of it.

I think Dennis is an awesome gnome. Anyone who can snag a hottie like his wife gotta be packin something.

Check his pockets!

* a prayer from St. Francis of Assissi, which says: "Lord, make me an instrument of your peace"
* a pocket Constitution
* an AFL-CIO membership card
* 1960's Topps card of Indian's slugger Rocky Colavito
* a fragment from Spanish philosopher Miguel De Unamuno that says: "Only he who attempts the absurd is capable of achieving the impossible."[1]
* a used tea bag
* a 29-year-old, ridiculously beautiful wife

another meaningless resolution so that the democrats can pretend to be less fascist than the republicans.

posturing.

So you don't think that Congress should actually debate about the war but that they should just fund it and shut up?

I think 3 hours it not a lot of time to debate a war that costs 3.6 billion a month.

go fuck yourself littlepisser.

there is no debate.

both parties are fascist merchantilist.

So, what you're saying Donnerboy, is that Congress, both Dem and Rep, has NEVER taken nor had the opportunity to debate the war...which has been going on since 2001? I don't buy that.

#30 | Posted by donnerboy at 2010-03-09 04:42 PM

Seriously, DBoy's best, most intelligent post ever!

#34 LOL

You made me look.

Kucinich has my respect. At least I believe him at his word.

both parties are fascist merchantilist.

Possibly. I don't know what the fuck to call our economic system anymore.

Hybrednomics?

it has been fascist merchantilist since the passing of the corporate person.

government by the corporations, for the corporations.
