I think I've relayed the story of my buddy, Ron, who was 18 when he and his 17 year old girlfriend were pulled over on the freeway outside San Antonio while he was rolling a joint in his van.

But the great thing about where I live is that while we are affected by the burst in the housing bubble our prices are not dropping (yet) like they did in the bigger cities and my house had appreciated about 3.5 times what I paid for it.

Did it ever occur to you that a house in San Francisco can sell for a million+ dollars? That would make each square foot of a 2500 square foot home worth about $400!

The houses in my neighborhood sell for about $500,000. My home has about 2000 square feet. That makes each square foot worth about $250. My 3 car garage is about 300 square feet that makes the structure worth about $75,000. Add the value of the land underneath it (about 150,000 an acre) and the value of the garage goes over $103k.

Of course, it is only worth that if someone is willing to pay that.

Yet somehow in this "very poorly" economy someone is still buying California houses at California prices.

I bet that really pisses goatturd off too cause he just can't grasp the concept of how a garage in California can be worth more than his entire house in Texas.

I bet the folks in Louisiana are pondering the same thing regarding the value of their homes vs the value of homes in Texas.
