Charles Rangel's decision to give up his gavel at the House Ways and Means Committee solved one problem for Democrats but created another: Who should take his place? California Rep. Pete Stark, the next-ranking Democrat, took over the acting chairmanship Wednesday after Rangel stepped aside under threat of forced removal by the House.

Stark should come up with some reasonable excuse -- age, whatever -- and step aside. He's the loosest of loose cannons.

If he's anywhere near as full of himself as Rangel is, that might take a while.

I'll grant you, Hagbard, there is that.

Looks like Stark was only king for a day and has announced his resignation as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee. Sander Levin is being tabbed as the next Chairman. I have to say I am surprised Pelosi didn't fight to keep another northern cal lib like herself as the permanent replacement. Of course knowing the dems and her own leadership position is in jeopardy, and her foolish move trying to defend Rangel the writing was on the wall. Too bad, it would have been a repubs dream bringing up Starks Biden like gaffes.

AMEN BRO
THATS RIGHT

pay no attention to the truth..pay no attention to the rank hypocricy of the left as they are only hypocrites when they open thier mouth.

as my link says..even dems are wary of this crazy bastard...but hey..maybe crazy bastard is right up the retort liberal tree..I mean we DO HAVE celisary here you know....and I googled his name and the term 'crazy bastard' also came up....NO really....

AND will the black caucas play thier usual RACE BAITING game that they already started??? and demand a black replace a black

At least we have one ethically-challenged politician on the side for a bit...

Just 536 more to go....(I include Pres & VPres to get to that magic 537)

Police pursuit on the 405 heading towards LAX. Looks like it is going to be an ugly ending.

is it a white ford???

oh no wait..that murdering bastard is still in jail isnt he??

So much for that. He is under the runways and no cameras giving any feeds. Hopefully the guy will resist.

Give the Chair to Waxman, then watch the righties blow a gasket.

Bushes fault!

~O~

waxman has already fucked over every american taxpayer ...or at least he has tried...cap and tax will not see the light of day in our lifetime...thank you voters of massachusetts.

Groan-

First Rangel, then Stark, now..?

The Dems are their own worst enemies, it is really amazing sometimes.

No way Waxman gives up his Energy and Commerce Chair, too much power there already.

16 AFK,
Our pleasure :)

Now let's get ready for the car to be driven off the cliff by way of "nuclear" option -- ohhh errrr.. I mean... "reconciliation".

It was only nuclear when republican congress sought to reduce taxes.

JM

Whatever happens to Rangel is his own selfish fault. Power corrupts both good and evil. Rangel is corrupt, he must go for the good of the country...

That does not excuse what has happened over the last ten years.

Don't kid yourself our me that times have been good.

Everyone is doing more with less and it's going to get worse because of Republican leadership and an unfunded government budget based on political expediency and personal Bush and Cheney family gain and not the national interest during the Bush years.

It's simple. The baby is dead. It has been drowned in the bathtub.

The question is?

How do we rebuild???

"The Dems are their own worst enemies, it is really amazing sometimes."

But it's terrific amusement. It's sorta like watching a Chinese cluster fuck.

"Mrs. Pelosi promised in 2006 to run "the most ethical Congress in history," but Mr. Stark seems to have taken his cues from Mr. Rangel's Caribbean junkets. Ethics investigators who looked into his Rashomon-like explanations for taking a Maryland homestead tax exemption, though his residence is in California, reported that "Throughout the interview Rep. Stark was extremely belligerent and frequently insulted the OCE [Office of Congressional Ethics] staff members interviewing him." He also tried to surreptitiously videotape the exchange."
