Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

If my government is going to help fix our broken health care system it must place the citizen first. I want it to provide insurance and health care to us directly and simply. It's really not complicated at all. A socialized health care system will provide better care to more people and at a savings. I am confident that tax increases would more than offset the cost of buying private insurance. The economics are there. The huge pool is there. The reduced expenses and overhead is there. There is no need to generate a profit. There is no need to pay stockholders dividents. Huge executive salaries are eliminated. It will be a better deal for the citizen.

I don't agree with this article, but this is the current argument and the prevailing mentality. Choose between Fascism and Socialism.

I choose neither.

The creeping fascism on the right* has been noticeable for quite some time now and the Nanny State mentality on the left** can be construed as embracing the worst aspects of socialism so this argument, while overstated, is not without merit.

/*Military adventurism, reduced liberties, increased governmental secrecy, decreased privacy through increased spying on citizenry without warrant, torture proponents etc.

//**Anti-smoking laws that preclude a business from running as it wants, banning various "unhealthy" foods, firing people for using politically incorrect language etc.

Spud is a foe of any form of unwarranted authoritarianism and a proponent of individual liberty and responsibility.

Be Well.

We, the People.

About as socialist a statement as has ever been spoken.
Remember, this nation was founded on the needs and obligations of human beings, naked of the abstracts of our own doing.
It was understood, that the makings of mans work, often, more than not, brought harm to humans. That certain hazards and abuse occured and found to be minimal, and those would construe the lessons of life. But in those instances where the hands of man brought harm, cruelty, poverty, even authoritarian obedience, these harmful things were to be held in check.
That the simple existance of human beings, holds far more value than anything we might create, even our own authority.

We are a lot closer to an fascist, authoritarian society, than a socialist one, by a very wide margin. Obama is no less motivated to authoritarian rule than bush, or any other elected representative of the last 90 or so years. That is why they call you consumers, voters, employees, constituants, everything other than citizen.

If all the people with "Stop Socialism!" bumper stickers would give up using public libraries, police/fire protection, public roads, national parks, the postal service, the US military, public schools, public restrooms (Repubes get extra points!) public transportation, social security, ad nauseum.... we might could afford to fight off the Corporatism/Fascism that they so love.

Corky,

If ever self-aggrandizing, statist, moron that posts on the internet would quit pretending that public libraries, police/fire protection, public roads, public schools, public restrooms, and public transportation were federal programs, I'd probably feel a lot less sick to my stomach.

Your last republicrat money shot left you with a little status quo dribbling from your chin.

-federal programs

They are programs where communities of people pool their money..... very socialistically....

and if ever anti intellectual trailer trash like yerself were to remove their heads from their asses long enough, they might possibly notice that interstate highways, national parks, the post office, the US military, social security, ad nauseum, were indeed federal programs.

"They are programs where communities of people pool their money..... very socialistically...."

.... in small regional groups, where the people that use them have a say.... you know, the way that socialist policies actually work well.

interstate highways- our infrastructure in this country is a joke, but I'll agree, interstate transportation infrastructure is a legitimate social program for the federal government.

national parks- nobody's going to argue with these, but the states do pretty well with their park systems too.

post office- operates at a loss and completely got it's ass handed to it by email, FedEx, and UPS.

US military- Is supposed to protect our borders. That's totally legitimate, adventurism and hegemony... not so much. Military spending is actually our biggest waste.

social security- doesn't provide anywhere near enough to live on and was turned into a ponzi scheme almost immediately after passage.

"anti intellectual trailer trash like yerself "

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHA!
Your entire posting history on this site is based on posting a "left" talking point in response to someone else's "right" talking point. You are SOOOOO intellectual... SOOOOO bright... SOOOOO clever.
Your head.... most def not up your ass!

- a legitimate social program for the federal government.

Well, so there ARE legitimate social programs for the federal government to be involved with.

Let me guess, the "takeover" of American health care by black Muslim Socialists isn't one of them?

Pathetic little prick, aren't you?

Corky... if you want welfare to be expanded to include health care, then at least be honest and admit it.

As for national highways, I believe that was covered in the constitution via the commerce clause. Tell me what, exactly, makes the gov't ownership of GM legal? What constitutional authority is there to force me to buy insurance from BC or AFLAC or some other private company?

And, for a bonus question, what constitutional grounds exist for welfare, medicare, medicaid, etc.

-welfare to be expanded to include health care

Entirely missed the part about a premium-based Exchange system.

-What constitutional authority is there to force me to buy insurance from BC or AFLAC or some other private company?

The same that makes you buy auto insurance.

-And, for a bonus question, what constitutional grounds exist for welfare, medicare, medicaid, etc.

Oh, there are none. It's just the ebil gubmint taking your hard earned money and giving it to Cadillac queens.

F'ing moron.

Never said that there wasn't, toady. Just that your talking points smell like shit.

"Let me guess, the "takeover" of American health care by black Muslim Socialists isn't one of them?"

Nice use of a "left" talking point, buddy! You've sure come a long way since "Life Goes On"! End the empire and the Federal Reserve and we'll have enough money to eliminate the income tax and have single payer so awesome that the flag-wavers won't bitch because 'merica is kickin ass!

"Pathetic little prick, aren't you?"

I'll reiterate, You are SOOOOO intellectual... SOOOOO bright... SOOOOO clever.

"The same that makes you buy auto insurance."

That's a state issue... genius.

And you can opt out by not driving.

ChezWegr... what is that? "Ignorant Mofo" in Moronese?

Girl, you so smart!

Girl, you so smart!

Entirely missed the part about a premium-based Exchange system.

No, but when you tell an insurance company that they must cover everyone, must not raise rates, and can't limit services... does anyone think this system will last? Really? Insurance is a method of spreading the cost. In case you have no experience with actuarials, let me give you a thumb-nail view. They determine what percentage of the population will have each and every covered illness / problem every year. So, if they expect that .000362 percent of the men will have testicular cancer in this area, and the cost to the insurance company is 1M each, then they divide the cost across all plans. Simple, huh? Now, if you come around and say 'you have to cover sex change operations' and they cost 1M each, that also has to be added into the cost. Still with me? OK... now, if you add millions of new people WITH HEALTH PROBLEMS, the cost has to go up.

Oh, there are none. It's just the ebil gubmint taking your hard earned money and giving it to Cadillac queens.

F'ing moron.

Well, makes me wonder if you are one of those queens. So, you think it is ok for the government to ignore laws? So why have them? Do you feel the same about everyone? Only obey the laws you like? Don't like the laws against drugs, ignore the laws. Don't loke the rape laws...

F'ing moron.
